- SIG Cross User Guide and manual - how to adjust, maintain and operate
This SIG Cross user guide covers everything you need to know to enable you to adjust, maintain and shoot your SIG Cross rifle. I go through all the features of the rifle and explain and demonstrate how to make user adjustments, strip, clean, assemble and even explain how the rifle works.
The SIG CROSS is a magazine-fed, bolt action, precision rifle available in 6.5 Creedmoor, 277 SIG Fury, and 308 Winchester.
This is a serious rifle, that has been designed and manufactured with input from hunters, snipers and competitive long-range shooters.
This video can also be used as a user guide that you can refer back to, time and time again. It should be used in conjunction with the user manual, however, I have added chapters in the video so that you can easily find the section you need to get you on the right track. Where the manual explains what to do, I also show you (in detail) so that you can follow my lead and get the rifle fitted and set up exactly how you want it.
I hope you find this video useful. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch it 🙏
Thank you to the Target Sports Centre for letting me borrow the SIG Cross to make the video.

As an Old United States Marine knowing my weapons and keeping them clean has always been on top of the list. Good rations with a bottle of hot sauce is second. This video gave me "complete" understanding of this RIFLE's NOMENCLATURE and how to maintain it. Thank you Mr. Cresswell and Semper Fi
Semper Fi Bruce 🤜🤛. Thanks for the feedback and glad the video helped 👍
Yes, once you get it drilled into you it’s impossible to not do it 😁
100% with you on the hot sauce 😋 (aka food repair kit 🤣).
@@JonCresswellUk Sig now has a Cross firing pin and spring assembly one can purchase for backup. I mounted a Sig Tango 4 4-16X44 scope with mildot and with my cheat card, hit an eight inch steel target at 500 meters first shot. With Hornady 147 ELD and 41.5 gr H4350 reloads, with a 2550 fps muzzle, this rifle will do over 1350 meters. Lastly, my 19th Great Grandfather is Edward III King of England. @@brucereed4027 sounds like a great set up for your rifle 👍. Good to hear it’s getting first round hits at 500m, the 147 eldm bullets are great 😊
Wow nice lineage, you must have done a lot of genealogy research ☺️
UP-DATE FROM OLD MARINE. Tested on a range with 400 to 1750 yard targets. I only went for the 1200 yard 36"x36" target. Third shot was a hit...so no record. Ha! If I had a scope with 100 MOA elevation, I would have went for the 1500 yarder. "poor man with limited funds". Take care!
Hi Bruce! 1200 yds is a good shot 👏 wind is always a bit tricky at that range and there’s normally lots going on down range.
Hope you had some good rations and hot sauce on your range day too 😉
Glad you’re enjoying shooting your SIG.
Absolutely Brilliant. Just bought this rifle yesterday and this video is all I need. Thanks mate. appreciate you taking the time.

Really comprehensive review mate, I personally loved the info on general maintenance and the barrel breaking in procedure.

Great stuff Ollie 👍👍 glad there were things in there that will be helpful for when you pick up your rifle. Let me know how you get on with it 😊
Best video on the SIG Cross!! Thank you so much, have lusted for one for a while and just picked up one in 308 WIN for hunting in my backyard of Beautiful British Columbia. Cheer's !
Oh wow, that’s some back yard! That’s very kind of you to say that. Enjoy your new .308 SIG cross
WHOA OMG, BEST VIDEO INSTUCTION EVER, BETTER THAN MANUAL, This brother is excellent. Video quaility is outstanding, Cleaning and maintenance were oustanding. And yes, i just puchase one today. But here is the knicker, I almost bought the Lithgow Arms 6.5 creedmoor. We all know thats an excellent rifle. But the Cross has much more bells and whistles. This video just proves I made the right decsion. Sig Cross

This is the best demonstration of field stripping the gun. I was a little unsure when taking down the bolt, but this vid gives a great example. The Sig manual is very vague. Anyway, I put 10 rounds through my new .308 , cleaned her up and ready to put some long range rounds through it. Thanks for the vid!
Awesome 🤩 thanks. Yes it took a bit of working out for me too, but once you get the method it is pretty easy to do. Enjoy your new rifle, I’d be interested to hear how you get on at long range with yours
That’s an incredible video manual. Thx

Have you fired it yet?
@@Pupperino7773 My son and I put 55 rounds of various ammo through it. We averaged about 1.5 MOA. Zero'd at 100 yards. We cleaned pretty much as recommended by Sig so it took awhile. Gun operation was great, no issues. I assume it would be good to get some more rounds through the barrell without cleaning and see how the accuracy does. Also will help with one shooter instead of two. I put a muzzle break on it. Curious if anyone has compared with and without? Also read elsewhere that the torque is very critical. Anyone have thoughts on that? TIA
@@FrankFurbish if I get this, I do plan to put a muzzle device because with how light it is and 308 being a relatively power cartridge, this thing is definitely going to kick.
Fitting a muzzle brake will definitely tame the recoil 👍

Great review. Love your videos. I have the Cross with a Sig Sauer 5x30x56 BDX. Also run the Sig Kilo 5k rangefinder. 500 yards on a 12x20 inch steel target all day long. Need more room to reach out. Love the Cross.

Great video. Helped me figure it out. I'm over 60yrs and find my hand strength lacking to manipulate the stock release all the time. Wish it could be adjusted. Other wise it seems good to go. Thanks JMHO 😊
No worries 👍 glad the video helped.
You did a great job with this video. VERY informative! Btw, i'm a lefty, got a righty, easier resale if that time comes for a small inconvenience. :)
Thank you Brett 😊. Glad the righty is working out for you, let’s hope you love it and it’s a keeper.
I wish Sig would support this gun with multiple barrels and bolt heads. This would be amazing as a 6ARC or 22 ARC!
There are multiple options for barrels but no smaller bolt heads the ARC would require.
It may be something they develop 🤷♂️
Fantastic video. Only change I'd make is where the anti-seize is applied. The manual shows it needing to be applied at the striker blade, at the back not the front of the firing pin.
Thanks, yes! My error.
Hi , excellent video btw by far the best detailed review of the Sig Cross. I will be picking up mine in a few days chambered in .308 in FDE. Question how important is the break in process? For me it would be a pain to shoot 5 time go home and clean it then repeat the process.
I’m a stickler for things like that, and when I was breaking in my .308 (not a Sig) I took my rod etc to the range - it was a bit of a faff, but I wanted to make sure I gave it the proper attention.
Might consider one of these in 277 SIG Fury.
Sounds cool 😎 I’ve never shot that calibre, but it’s on the list of ones I’d like to try
@@JonCresswellUk
I have not shot one myself. I have various rifles in several high power calibers, including 300 Winchester Magnum. I am working on another rifle chambered in 270-300 PacNor, which is a 300 Winchester Magnum necked down to 277. It has the twist rate to stabilize the longer heavier bullets now available.
It just seems to me that if I were to buy a new SIG rifle, I would buy it chambered in their new caliber that it was designed for.
I have not jumped on the 6.5MM bandwagon. I have been a proponent of 6.8MM/0.277 for decades, even going so far as to tell my friend, Ronnie Barrett, 20 years ago, that the military should move to a shorter, sharp shoulder 308/7.62x51 case, necked down to 6.8MM/0.277 as a standard military chambering. I suggested a shortened and improved 277 Redding.
I now feel pretty much vindicated, 0.277/6.8MM seems to be what really works.
😎
Sounds like you really know your stuff when it comes to calibres 👍. I’m still on a learning curve in that regard. I did get a 6.5 creedmoor as my first centre fire rifle, but I’ve recently gone to .308 - old school I know, but being ex-military it felt like the right thing to do, and I love shooting it.
A lot of people have recently moved to 6mm in the PRS world, but I’m happy with a bit more punch 🥊
@@JonCresswellUk
There's absolutely nothing wrong with 308 Winchester, AKA 7.62x51 NATO
It is *NOT* "obsolete". It's capabilities have not suddenly reduced. It's still a very viable long range and accurate chambering. It's an excellent all around cartridge, it works extremely well in every platform, there are top drawer rifles chambered for it in every platform. You really cannot go wrong with the 308, the Model 70, the M14, the AR10, and various other rifles prove it to be an excellent and capable all around cartridge. A man with 2-3 rifles in 308/7.62x51 NATO can be considered quite well armed and equipped. I would not part with any of my rifles in that chambering, and I fact, plan to buy more, I looked at one less than a month ago.
Agreed 👍 I’m more than happy with what the round can do.
Great video. what molybdenum disulfide anti seize do you recommend. Cant find one to buy. A specific brand would be great!
Cards on the table, I’ve not used moly in my rifles. The operation manual does recommend it’s use (as I mentioned in the video), however, I normally just use a small bit of the boretech extreme HD grease. I’m sure there is a firearms specific moly but I don’t know which one would be best.
Nice video. What size scope and ring height are you running?
I think it was a Vortex Venom - so 34mm tube with medium height mounts
Can you explain more deliberately on which side the “top” of the bolt is? Had a hard time orienting the handle the right way. Thanks
If you are looking at the bolt face, the “top” / uppermost locking lug is the one that has the ejector situated at 1 o’clock of the firing pin hole. The extractor locking lug will be in the 7 o’clock position. Hope that makes sense?
Just picked one up and I'm loving it. Price has come down here in the states quite a bit, due to their early issues. Mine has been operating beautifully and putting 1/2" - 3/4" groups at 100. Point of impact changes drastically between ammo types, and some brands have much wider groups, but when it likes a bullet, it really likes it.
I've heard enough good and bad reviews to believe that it's a superb rifle with so-so quality control. Just pray you get a good one, I suppose. I expect more from sig but they seem to be going downhill a bit. I love their products but they need to get their quality control together.
Quick question, are your lubrication habits just your preference or did sig specifically suggest that? If so, im one lazy bastard. New to precision rifles, though, so maybe I need to up my game.
Ah nice 👍 one of the other comments below says 131gr bullets worked best for them, so maybe that’s a weight to try. But it sounds like the bullets you are using are giving you good results. I put an APW raptor muzzle brake on the one I used to tame the recoil.
😂 the lubrication I talk about was directly from the manual so that’s probably what I’d go with.
As for my habits 🤪, they are a result of being in the military, so my brain is hard wired in cleaning my rifle after I’ve used it. I like to keep the rifle clean and lubricated so that it’s good to go when I take it out the cabinet - it also inhibits rust/corrosion.
@@JonCresswellUk I just got mine and if it werent for my friends, their guidance, and their handloads, I would probably be complaining about loose groups. Learning quickly and loving every minute of it. Definitely a whole different animal than my quick moving ar matches.
And I really need to get better at Individualized care methods. I've always been anal about keeping things clean but I've always lubed up weapons based on my semi-auto experience. Would have never thought to drop grease on the locking lugs. I really dont think about grease much at all (other than charging handle)... Anyways, I appreciate the video. Knowing that you're running from the manual, I'll probably reference it when I tear it apart to strip my one-size-fits-all lube job and properly grease it. Nice to see detailed videos rather than some guy shaking a gun around saying "I like it" or filling it full of cement and complaining that it doesn't work anymore lol.
Lol true. Maintenance is kind of an individual thing, some clean loads, some let them sit until they stop, some are in the middle somewhere. I just don’t leave it to chance.
I grease the lugs on my Remington and at a light coating to the bolt to keep it running smooth. Works well, but if you’re in a dry dusty climate I’d keep it dry to stop it clogging with grit or dust.
Thanks for the feedback on the video. I’m trying to keep it factual and not have too much of an opinion on them - although a couple of pros and cons don’t hurt I think.
Excellent no nonsense Sig Cross introduction, cleaning and break in in Video... I do not however understand Sig's anal barrel break in procedure... lol.. I believe this video should come with every Sig Cross rifle sold...
Thank you 😊 it would be amazing if @sigsauerinc did promote the video with their rifles 😎. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
What height rings did you go with?
It wasn’t my rifle, but I believe they were mid height rings
It seems likenfolding the stock tonthebleft would be better then u could still use it in an emergency while folded. I wish they could make the stock a pdw style. Sorrry im picky
I think you can swap the side it folds so you can make that choice 👌
What brand of ring mounts do you recommend for the cross? I have a Leupold 30mm scope and don’t like the one piece I’ve got on it
This rifle was just borrowed to make the video. On my personal rifle, I have dolphin gun company high mounts that work well. If you have a 30mm scope I would probably go for medium height mounts. Vortex Optics also make some good quality, reasonably priced mounts.
They are more expensive, but Rottigni Officina Mechanica make some excellent quality scope mounts (this is what I'm hoping to get for my next rifle).
Is it a safe practice to have the stock folded left.
What’s your thoughts on that?

Hey guy. Can you help me before I purchase one. I love it but...can you change the 20 moa rail pc. for a 0 moa? I dont plan on shooting over 500 yards and my sig scope could not handle an extra 20 moa of adjustment to stay in sweet spot. Help....can you explain if they are available?
They ship with a 20 MOA rail. Not sure if they can be swapped 🤷♂️ sorry. Maybe drop them a question at www.sigsauer.com/sig-cross-rifle.html
Not sure if your problem was solved, you could purchase a shim kit. 👍🇨🇦
Shim kit? Sig is big company, They can make a 0 moa main scope rail for the Cross which is suppose to be a hunting rifle of the future. I have a 10lb Ruger RPR if I want to shoot 1000yards at steel. 500 uards is all you should expect from a neat little package like the cross. why it comes with a 20 moa rail makes no sense. thats a lot of "inches" at 500 yards for your scope to male up for. makes no sense. tried to call but no one has a clue about the simplest things. even the idea of barrel swap outs is barely getting under way. and at about the 1/2 price of enitire rifle, m8ght as well buy a whole rifle. Its just an aluminum rail with a couple of screws. a ten minute change. then we could use nice affordable hunting scopes. not 3000.00 target scopes. that sweet spot is small in affprdable scopes, even thier own! I owm 4 sig scopes and they are not exactly Leupolds when it comes to clarity or quality. a shim kit, where do you get those? lol shims?? really..shims?
Thanks for the link guy. I have been sending them notes and they never answer..I asked about 6.5 barrels and if a kit will be coming out. but it appears that the 308 is just coming out and they are out if stock. so thats that for 6.5 for me.Ill just stick to my 308. good video. wonder if somwone doing a video could put them on the spot? there is absolutely no reason for 20 moa on a "hunting rifle of the future" platform. unless if you want to try 1000 yard shots.. every gun company now has thier 10 lb. long range rifles out there. the Cross fit the bill for hunting and short competitions like the 500 yard ones. some of us have no 1000 yard ranges in entire state. never mind 1500 yards. thanks again for the video and tips.
