Spectacular ending to the best television series ever made. I believe she loves Yevgeny but has to be faithful to Saul for having his asset killed. Boy do I wish we could have another season! I was not disappointed in the ending at all. Bravo!!!
she likes Yevgeny, BUT she will never love him as Brody really did. She may be the happiest (living in danger) that we have ever seen, even though she is living a lie - that is the irony of it. And she is with someone who does the same job. Both tried to recruit each other. He did horrible things to her and she did to him. The irony of this is enormous when she is sitting there listening to music and knows that she cannot return to her country where she is seen as an outcast and a traitor.
I believe she's faithful to both. Carrie is Saul's source, but Yevgeny is hers. He'll be her longest relationship. Anna worked because she translated for Yevgeny's boss, Sergei. Not a position they'll trust giving to Carrie lol. The end scene is powerful in the fact that Carrie knows she's not expendable. Saul needs her as he needed Anna. This is where Simone fails.
how HOW can she have so much chemistry with every man she is with . I'm shooketh. The moment I saw them I could imagine them making out lol. 😂

When he put her on bed while she was unconscious his kiss seemed genuine and caring, which makes you think.. Tho there is a high chance you're right, there is a lot of emotional connection which must play some role I suppose.
Of course the kiss was real, it was real for both of them. After 8 seasons do you not understand anything?

Think Yevgeny kissed her as a test. Just as she was playing him, he was playing her to see what was really up. Once she stopped him with "Islamabad first," he went with a needle in her neck. Both actors played this scene to the hilt. It was a master class.
When Mathison finally gets to listen to the cockpit recording, it appears to back up her theory that no one shot down Chalk One: it was a crash resulting from mechanical error, a modern Gulf of Tonkin to justify an unnecessary war.
It must be almost time for Carrie Mathison to save the world again, but she’s in just about the worst possible position to do so. Once again her assumptions about how human relationships work are blown apart, as it turns out Yevgeny doesn’t turn to putty in her hands at the promise of a roll in the hay. He still has his own agenda, and the flight recorder is part of it. As the episode fades to black, Carrie is drugged and unconscious...and somehow still not the most useless person on the show.
Yevgeny being 3-4 steps ahead of Carrie all the time. This amount of suffering show runners put Carrie through in the last season , let alone the whole series - is mind blowing.
This doesn’t really annoy me, though I understand why it would bother you. As Yevgeny said a few episodes back, he’s a planner. I’m reminded of Carrie’s line in “The Vest”:
''You wait, you lay low… and then you come to life.''
For better or worse, this operation to identify Saul’s asset has probably been in the making for years if not longer. Allison didn’t work out. The Russians and Yevgeny specifically were handed a gift when Saul and Carrie both decided it was worth the risk to let Carrie be captured if it meant securing Simone’s exfiltration.
And, honestly, that we’re able to talk about the plot and story of this show so holistically at this point is nothing short of a miracle considering there’s no way the writers are as much “planners” as Yevgeny claims to be.
I can't really say who Carrie really loved. Maybe it was Brody, now their relationship was a dream all the time, not real, they literally stayed together for a maximum of 10 days, there was a glow between them, now it all started with a lie, her doing her job, not a real relationship with many lies - only in the final three chapters of S2 and that he showed true sincerity for her.
In S8, it is much worse it was with Yevgeny, the series ends with her lying to him, doing her job, not a real and honest relationship.
The only relationship Carrie had was Quinn, no lies, no secrets, no acting, now they are never together as a couple, they have chemistry throughout the show. And she never told him that she loved him, so I think Carrie loved herself and her job ... and Saul.
They're very much alike, just from different countries, and I think that's what makes them work. Carrie assumes a lot, which no one can fault her for, given her memory issues. Yevgeny isn't all of Russia. He's not even the head of the GRU. He worked for Sergei just as Carrie worked for Saul and Quinn worked for Adal. Whatever happened to her while being held captive wasn't all Yevgeny, so I do believe he just happened upon her trying to commit suicide. It's Carrie's feelings for him that make her vulnerable. When she told him about Franny's near-drowning, she might as well have pulled him into the bathroom with her when she did it, that's how vulnerable she is. While fans may want their relationship to end, it won't. For Carrie to continue acting as an asset for Saul, she actually needs to protect the only source she has in the GRU - Yevgeny himself. That's the reality of their ending. Her relationship with Yevgeny will likely be her longest, aside from her relationship with Saul, of course. They're what her and Quinn would've looked like had they not tried to leave their spy lives for a normal life. She's getting both. This scene is hilarious because I do think that's where they left off, and she's using it to get what she wants. If Yevgeny were completely using Carrie, they would've never released the recording. They held up their end of the deal. Relationships are give and take, not just give and not just take.

I think he had really fell for her, because if he didn’t give a crap he would have left her on that table and wouldn’t have kissed her after he laid her down. Not unless he is still using it as an angle to get Saul’s source. I can’t wait til Sunday!
He learned in prison, denied his medicines, tried to force her to betray his country. And still using it to murder an active Saul source. Fortunately, she deceived him in the end in the spy game and now uses him as a sex object.
He wouldn't have been the one holding her prisoner, Sergei Mirov would've been because he's the head of the GRU. That's why Yevgeny took the flight recorder, but Sergei ended up with it. I definitely believe Yevgeny fell for her, and she for him, but I think her memory issues blinded her to that reality. If he didn't care for her, I don't think he would've bothered to help her find Max. He didn't know about the flight recorder until later. Yevgeny isn't stupid. He knew very well that she was using sex to get what she wanted, knew that if she walked away with it, he'd never see her again. If they were completely using Carrie, they would've never released the recording. They held up their end of the deal.

Episode 9 “In flight”: Kiss is poison (1:38) The characters of Yevgeny and Carrie are enemies parallel to each other. Yevgeny had Carrie follow him and appeared when she was about to hear the audio from the flight recorder. They discover together that the President's helicopter crash was a mechanical failure. When Carrie asks Yevgeny's help to take the flight recorder to Islamabad, Yevgeny says he can't trust her because she lied to him. Carrie reminds him of how he also withheld information from her and just divulged what he needed her to know about his captivity in Russia. Yevgeny pulls her and they kiss. Seconds later, he injects her with a sedative and steals her flight recorder.
When she’s not being interrogated, she sleeps all day, her body somehow knowing it finally has permission to rest. The combination of deep sleep and mostly empty days allow new memories from the asylum to resurface. Like her brain decided to regain lost territory. Most of them center around the brutal interrogations she endured when she was still half-way lucid, before she lost touch with reality entirely. They-at Yevgeny’s behest-did unspeakable things to her: starvation, sensory deprivation, filling her cell with photos of Franny, shackling her to a chair for weeks, among other things. Everything they could possibly do to accelerate her descent into madness.

I felt that way about Brody. Then Quinn. Season 7 sucked imo. It wasn't bad just compared to. It felt lacking. 4 was a tough transition, without Brody but once you get over that it's solid. Yeah, just season 7 was lacking imo. Maybe it was just not for me. Liked the rest. Most surprising is that it has a decent end. Most serieses can't end too well. Homeland was pretty good.
Never liked Brody Carrie Chemistry much. But after Peters death I stopped watching Homeland. Then I finished the Americans. I came back to watch Homeland just because I came to know Costa Ronin was there.

It wouldn't have mattered. Without the actual flight recorder in hand, the president and that jerk Zabel weren't going to change their minds.
She’s playing him. She made out so she could manipulate him. In the end it didn’t work but that was her plan. Carrie always has ulterior motives, even when she genuinely loves people, you can never trust what she says or does at face value. That’s what make the character so interesting. Yevgeny is quite the same.
