How beautifully you hear people out Romain. Though so many things are just stupid. You give so much dignity to people. That's why I love this show. You are so empathetic.
I appreciate ! Yes I want to create a comfortable environment where people can share freely 😊
So much of what is said close to delusion. But you keep it so dignified. You never run it on people's face. Thats why I watch your show. You don't once humiliate anyone or put someone down. My fav finance show.
genuinely. it makes me so happy to hear how respectful and calming roman is, a huge difference to caleb hammer.
Why isn’t this guy channel growing? Love his approach on everything ugh
I agree😊
The UA-cam algorithm makes no sense.
it is growing. I have been around since around 8k. It will only pick up
UA-cam is like a credit score. More debt you run up, higher your score can go. No debt = no score. Only with UA-cam it is drama. Romain is calm, rational, logical and compassionate. UA-cam does not reward this the way it rewards yelling and catastrophe.
It's growing! I think it was at like 12k when I joined a few months ago.
I feel like YT is like that, the growth tends to be slow at first, but when it catches, it really catches.
He just has to keep grinding and keep putting out the great quality content that he's doing. Maybe make more shorts or try to funnel more users from TikTok and Twitter.
He will get there.
He doesn't have to be crazy or fake. He can be himself and still be successful.
Romain this is the cycle of poverty she was raised in . They all pitch in at times to help each other out and they all end up not saving. This is something I see over and over again.
Very true, it’s a vicious cycle where no one learns to be focused, self sufficient and disciplined.
That's an excuse. People from the Caribbean and Africa comes to America and make it. They came with no money just the desire and the will to make a good life. They struggle but made it.
@@eileenwatt8283😂, sure they do. There you go with the good ol immigrant LIE and MYTH that they come here, with nothing, $0, when there’s literally data 📊 and studies that have been done for decades now that prove you’re a damn lie and don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. The data 📈 is clear on this subject, it cost between $4k-$11k just to move here and to get residency or citizenship, but sure tell us more about how they come here with $0 and desire only. Also, those coming from Africa and the Caribbean wouldn’t even be able to come here if it wasn’t for Black Americans fighting for the immigration and nationality act of 1965.
@@eileenwatt8283 It's not an excuse, it's providing context. If breaking out of cyclical poverty was easy, no one would be in it. It's a much more nuanced issue than you'd like to believe.
@eileenwatt8283 Eileen let me educate you the majority of the African immigrants that end up in America were well off in their home countries. How do you think they got here. Not only that they had excellent educations. Same goes for Chinese, Indian people who end up studying here... You haven't actually talked to the people you like to talk about have you?
I love how you give the guests space to share while also keeping the convo structured
If I found out I had spent $45,000 on any kind of coffee I would absolutely check myself into a rehab. Buy yourself a machine if you must. Love your spirit though.
Gosh. I thought you meant $4500!
I recognized that laughing at the beginning, it’s the laugh to keep from crying…not surprised she ends up crying later whoo… Can’t wait to watch!!
Im looking forward to a 6 month follow up. I liked this guest and i am rooting for her to get back on track.
Always appreciate the compassion you share, Romain. All of us make mistakes and have things going on in our life. Pointing and laughing at someone whose struggling is gross. Fingers crossed this beautiful lady comes out on the other side.
Convinced me to cut back on my Starbucks habit lol 😆
That’s a win :)
For those of us asking why Romain does not "blow up" like Caleb Hammer, this is my theory: UA-cam is like a credit score. The more debt you run up, the higher your score can go. No debt = no score. With UA-cam it is drama instead of debt. Romain is calm, rational, logical and compassionate. UA-cam does not reward this the way it rewards yelling and crying and disaster and catastrophe.
*yet 😉
@@itsRomainFaure Oui, c'est vrai. Hasn't blown up *yet*. I stand corrected.
I love coffee too‼️ If I'm not making coffee at home, I get it FREE at work or at the coffee bar at my apartment complex. I buy specialty coffee, once in a while.
I think she seems cavalier to hide the sadness she feels inside. She's been thru a lot, but needs to get her SHIT together. 😢
Your channel has style mate
Cheers mate ✅
Got to be a fellow Brit 😂
I think sometimes people go to a coffee or other place daily more because the people there are familiar and friendly than the coffee or whatever itself
It is also a routine I think more than anything
April is definitely one of my favorite guests. Thank you for having her on your show. I related to April because I too have a ton of debt (most of it student loans). This episode inspired me to start saving $500 a month. Thank you, Romain.
You got it!
She has been thru so much. I am rooting for her.
Go April !
I once met a rich guy who would invite poets and musicians to his house for these amazing dinners and he paid every single one of them.
I can totally relate to her upbringing. She has a great laughter and attitude. She still has time if she start saving/ investing NOW!! I mean seriously throw everything possible $ at retirement. Live Po!! I started at 58 and finally seeing the fruits of going hard investing at 63, it works.
It took you 5 years, nice job!
I hope she can keep up the changes! She seems very nice. Maybe therapy would be helpful with all her traumatic experiences.
Love the show. Emergency Fund is a must. I hope the lady take your advice seriously. Our hair is beautiful, let the fresh air in and leave the wigs alone😂😂
I embraced chemical free hair and no wigs over five years ago. I recently locked my hair to move completely away from the butters, etc. I love my hair in its natural state.
Wow, such heartbreak hearing what she had to go through. I hope she can continue with her finance journey and continue making people laugh with her comedy. She is such an inspiration! Thank you for helping her Romain!
The last time I stopped at a local donut shop for a Latte and a half dozen donut holes, with tip it was $10 !!!! I’ve done that twice this entire year!!!
Thats really cheap though😊
@@turtleanton6539 that does not seem cheap to me….Their coffee was very good and the donut holes were melt-in-your mouth delicious, but it’s a once-in-a-while treat…too expensive.
My thoughts: She would be a riot to hang out with.
Reading poetry to a man who is not your husband seems very sus to me.
Could she take a stab at creating a comedy channel on youtube or tiktok that might increase her income and popularity?
If she did a live stream on youtube or twitch giving comedic life advice, I'd watch!
She could try first with TikTok that has a lower barrier to entry!
Romain definitely deserves 100,000 $ubscribers! 👍🏻👍🏿🕍
🤞🤞

I share with view 😊
She's completely insane, or one hell of an actress.
It’s hard to break bad habits that took you 45 years to develop, but once you do you’ll find the motivation to keep improving. Good job on breaking the ☕️ routine. One step at a time!
Let's go JORDAN!
My heart breaks for her i feel so bad for what she's been through

Lol that is funny though
Yippie, new video, can't wait to watch 🎉🎉🎉
Talk about a loyal Starbucks customer! Wow!!! On another note she has a beautiful spirit that shines through. I wish her the best!
I loved the balance discussion throughout! Inspiring me to also recalibrate my finances.
I spent 16 bucks on a home coffee maker and started making my own coffee. Saved a ton of money!
I also make coffee at home. I get Starbucks maybe once a month, once in two months.
Romain……Another great episode!
I’m so glad that you get the people that come on the show it dose of reality you still have the ability to show compassion and empathy!
Well done sir🙌🏾
Faithful follower.
Thank you so much for being one of my very loyal followers! Cheers to you as always :)
Great episode!
Thank you so much!
Romaine, thx 4 cute/interesting/powerful/kind n patient interview. Blessings 2u April...
This young woman is annoying and clearly detached from reality. I'm having a hard time making it through this episode but I want to support Romain 🤦🏾♀️

Just noticed I have been watching and commenting, but was not subscriber. Not sure what happened but I am a happy subscriber. Thank you Roman!
Welcome on board :)
so she didnt save $500
I don’t know if her daughters want old wigs for their inheritance. Time to sell the wigs for as much as she can get, maybe individually, not the entire collection, & buy an espresso machine like I did! I make the yummiest espressos with fresh ground cardamom & maple syrup, some with golden spice (that I make myself) and froth up goat milk etc. Sometimes I froth a Moringa and milk and raw honey, but you can make much healthier high quality morning bevs. than Starbucks ever could. And she’ll get healthier, as Starbucks is all sugar with coffee flavoring (barely)
Romain, my husband and I enjoy watching you channel.
The only thing that NEEDS to be added on the show is you showing all of the guests spending for the month on the screen for us to follow!!!!
I take note of that comment 👌 thank you
I could become a poet for $100- for a millionaire! Who needs a muse?! 😆 just throwing it out there…
watching video midway but when April inferred that she believed her negative net worth of $55K was "per year?" it reveals she needs a lot of education on finances. Maybe you can create a course? Over the years i have learned a lot on my own. A clear, concise class would have been very helpful. Or maybe you already offer a class/course?
Yes her response was surprising - I do not want to sell a course however I am putting together a series that will come out soon ✅
I’m thinking she thought there was interest and it was increasing?
I’m rooting for her to make mental and financial changes. She can do it❤. If she was selling cars she CAN do anything including comedy. My heart breaks for any black woman who struggles mentally and financially 🙏🏾.
GO APRIL!
Hello Romain , We have everything paid off, cars, house, and we own 5 acres of property. I have a print out budget plan for every month. plus we have a IRA for retirement. The problem is the one credit card. I say to my husband let's downsize and that will eliminate the credit card debt but he says we r not moving. So this keeps me in a roller coaster of emotions knowing how to get out of debt and not being able to. This drives me bonkers. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on finance and have a great week. 🌴🌞🌴
Thank you for sharing - what is going on with this credit card, do you keep a balance on it?
It's like a yo/yo, I actually wanted to cut up the card but my husband does not agree. So I say lets get rid of all extras and live below our means. I just paid 4,000.00 on card and the same day my husband bought a 2.000,00 dollar computer. He says he's working on making more money which is fine but in the meantime, I keep saying yes but what about now. They say money problems r not about money. Is this true?
@@susan-sn7jg how do you guys approach big purchase decisions like the computer ? There should be more communication
@@itsRomainFaure We did discuss it. It's for a AI project that he is developing for a big corporation so if this goes successful, he will more than get paid back for the computer. So this is the only reason he purchased the computer otherwise he would of not bought it. The only thing we owe is 6,981.00. I can pay this off but then we have no cash flow.
April is just soo awesome!!!
I have 2 iPhones that I am going to find out how to clear them and I send u one for her
It’s a few years old , but works fine..Ana Sophia
Ps: I love Detroit… Koolest , Talented People Ever…🎵
Lvac did the same to me. I went two times , they canceled after non payment, sent to collections and it was $750. Same exact thing.
(I work out at LVAC - so far so good:)
Wonderful video, I love your advice of what to change and her massages at the end about how to take ownership of the situation and do what you can to turn it around. I know not everyone is of the faith, but I always stress that prayer and faith in Christ are also important because there are times in life where we hit rock bottom, and there is no way we can do it on our own. Thank you for your awesome content ❤
Thank you for your positive message!
She looks great for being 45.
Your channel is way more mature and empathetic than "other" channels. Great job keeping it the same style and not going for the "that" style video.
I appreciate - thank you Ryan
I'm not american and I simply don't get it, starbucks isn't that good 😭😭😭😭 please, start brewing coffee at home! So much cheapier and more delicious
I can't testify as I don't personally drink coffee, but the behavior you mention is GOOD! :)
Wow! I couldn't tell if she laughing because she nervous or not. Detroit I'm told is a tough place to grow up in, though I'm sure that could be anywhere USA, where areas are just tough - every state has that city (or 2). I almost couldn't follow her though you seemed to and you did give her a plan. I cannot imagine spending that much on coffee, but I have other vices. Get a kerug and some pods and make our own cafe' latte and add whip cream. The wigs, the wigs. She giving away money to the wigs industry and that's a shame. I don't get it. My aunts had alopecia and they were forced to wear wigs, I bought maybe 3 in my lifetime and just had to pull them off.
I wish she had been more specific about her savings in follow up and what she had paid off. Good luck to her and her family. She seems very smart, to have passed an insurance test.
Did you have to get a coffee or a drink, Romain? As we say in the south "bless your heart"
I wish her update was a bit more specific I agree! I do offer coffee and drinks to people coming to the show :)
Pray for our nation.
Me crying after this 😢 so sad
Idk why but when someone with a heavy accent gets flustered or confused it always makes me laugh
We both have accents in this video :)
Compasion doesn't pay bills or put food on the table. Work, responsibility, and adulthood does.
get some folgers instant coffee and powder creamer girl.
Or try Nescafé hazelnut instant coffee. Best coffee aside from Starbucks!
I beat the coffee shop habit by deciding I wanted to drink the best coffee I could as much as I wanted. So I order the green beans on line and roast and brew my own with a small countertop roaster and espresso machine. I drink the finest coffee from all over the world for way less than any coffee shop and even less than buying the good quality pre-roasted beans in the grocery store.
16:50 the reality that her life lacks any long term structure or strategy breaks through for just a moment on her face. It's so sad that she keeps ignoring it
Interesting that you note this moment - when doing the editing with my editor Danica we both noticed this instant where her emotion does an instant 180.
I saw this too 😢
wait i actually love her haha
As always, I enjoy all your financial audits.
Is the $72K annual household income or just for herself?
She said she’s married and I’m assuming they still live together. So if she has spousal allowance (which shouldn’t be called that unless it’s separation alimony), then shouldn’t it be just called household income and everything should be combined including debts?
I was just thinking it would be more accurate if you also include her husband’s debt and whole income. Because then the monthly household budget would be more accurate.
Hello 👋 I hear your thoughts, April does manage her money and decided to come to the show just by herself. Spousal allowance is the name called by April for this “income stream”. I was not able to get more information on the husband finances at this time unfortunately
Could be what she gets for taking care of him since he is unable to work and is presumably disabled
@@Crazybatladyx her husband has a heart attack - had to stop working for a while but now is back at work👌
Woww her update at the end was so good?? I was not expecting that!

Wow........
Wow 2.0? :)
Why are we not seeing her husband’s finances as well? If he is rich enough to give her 5,000$ a month he better be doing very well. I don’t think we can accurately see her situation without seeing the other half of this marriage.
I would love to talk to you. I just don’t like being on camera. Or live in the area.

Just a small recommendation, Romain. The still photo of you during the follow ups is kinda creepy and jarring when watching on video. Either record yourself listening and post that reaction or just dont put a photo of you in the frame. Every episode i think about this lol
Great work as always!
Thanks for the feedback - we will take note of it 😊
I wouldn't say creepy and jarring; it's his channel profile too. It is one of the best shots of him; although, I do agree I would like to see him personally talk during that but I am not sure if it is always possible to record oneself talking while on the phone.
@kalientei yeah I'm being a. It sensational, but I do think the juxtaposition of still, uncanny photo with video footage from a cell phone is just a bad way to frame that shot
She seems completely unaware, immature and unfocused. What a mess at 45.
Hopefully you are perfect lol
We haven’t walked in her shoes…
We need to stop "sympathizing" and making excuses or otherwise excusing the foolish behavior, decisions, and lifestyle choices people make that leaves them in debt up to their eyeballs. And what wonttakethewidepath8851 said was a good observation. This woman didn't seem to grasp or take seriously just how dire her situation is.
Perhaps she was never taught how to handle money. Many people haven’t. Once we know better we can do better.
