The daughter stealing $80 thousand dollars from her parents just broke my heart, wow. Dave is correct she needs to be fired and out of the building immediately.
Some of these situations make a bit of sense given their parents coddle them even after horrible decisions like that, if they aren’t made to be responsible even in those circumstances it’s clear they never have been - such a disservice to your children and then act surprised when you are victimized by their actions
I am not married but have been with my “wife” for 5 years. She has a 10 year old. Her daughter was 1 when her dad died. We have a 3 year old. She gets Social Security and a few semesters of College. Given our situation, we don’t want to lose benefits. A piece of paper doesn’t keep us committed. We both love each other and we are both working like hell to make our life happy and financially sound. We have no debt other than our house and she is willing to listen to me. The caveat is I have legitimate conversations and involve her with all decisions. Water your own lawn before you envy the neighbors is all I can say.
Don't underestimate people with seemingly menial or low skill jobs. I know a self proclaimed "handyman" that earns more per day than your average attorney.
@@marginalized945 that went over your head. He wasn't denigrating handymen. He was saying being you cant justify being in debt and then going to buy rental properties by saying you are going to do the repairs yourself.
My daughter, at 18, stole a few hundred from my business and stole some things from our house. We sold the condo she was living in and changed the locks on our doors. Straightened her out almost immediately. She’s 33 now and she’s extraordinarily honest.
When I was 18 I got a credit card because I needed the money at the time. Within a month, I maxed it out at 700 dollars and the statement got sent to my dads house since I hadn’t changed the address. He called me up and chewed me out so much, telling me to immediately go get some scissors and chop the card up and send him a picture of it. He told me NEVER get another credit card or get into debt or he would cut me off. 7 years later. Best advice/scolding he gave me.
🤣🤣🤣 The responses were _very_ predictable indeed! There's always a bunch of people who assure you that credit cards are awesome "if used properly", that they pay it all off at the end of the month, that it's great for credit points, bla bla bla.... 😁 Dave Ramsey and Chris Hogan have both mentioned that 98% of CC users rack up some kind of debt. But apparently the entire 2% that is disciplined just happens to be in these comments sections!🤣🤣🤣
Mr ClassicMetal The people watching Dave Ramsey are, at the very least, wanting to take an active role in their finances. That’s going to skew the population you see here. Credit cards are a responsibility. If you’re disciplined, you can handle it. Its not a novel idea.
He almost did at 9:06 of this clip and then later on when he told her that her husband (at the time) thinks she's stupid, Dave had to be thinking "and so do I".
I'm not clear that calling people who's hearts and lives have been broken "stupid" is a productive thing to do. It certainly is lacking in compassion. Not to mention, she's in denial. How do people get in denial? Thought processes such as "I've always been a fairly intelligent person, so therefore I am not being cheated on". So go on and call her stupid, you're just setting yourself and anybody reading you up to be the next person to figure "I'm smart, so I must be incapable of being fooled in love".

Bipolar nailed it. My wife handles all our finances for the exact same reason. Learned eventually if I want to buy something I talk to the wife then we wait 4 weeks, if I still want it then we sit and work out if it is reasonable and then start saving to buy it. Took us a while to get this process in place but now we are saving well and I have learned to look for joy elsewhere when the mania kicks in.
So glad you've worked out this solution to help you and your family. I appreciate people who are humble in accepting their challenges, especially mental. My best friend has bipolar. I've walked with her through mania and psychosis. It's a challenge to know how to keep the finances safe from decisions that would be regretted later.
I liked his response to the couple with the wife’s spending problem. He addressed a spending addiction as what it really is- a mental illness and an addiction, and he strictly told the husband to contribute to her needs and help her heal, come to counselling with her, etc, not just judge her and berate her for her behaviour or get a divorce.
In sickness and in heath… this is the Best approach i have seen to women addicted to shopping. Lean on your husband in this process. ITS OK to lean on him! Its humbling and biblical. Women are powerful, awesome human beings!!! But sometimes we have to accept help. And thats ok. That can save a family. Let God Do what he needs to do
The husband is in need counseling too. He kept wanting to interrupt and rejecting that the wife was so mentally unwell that he only saw it as her being irresponsible.

@animegeek Nothing wrong with that, someone is needed to do the job. Do it with pride and manage your finances. You'll be fine. I lost a job (factory closed) making $10.10 I'd have stayed until I couldn't do it any longer, I considered it a ministry.

No law school, business school, other social sciences, veterinary, chiropractic, physio, humanities, arts, engineering, sciences, Master's, Ph.D., etc. Medical school or dental school only. How do people get in denial? Thought processes such as "I've always been a fairly intelligent person, so therefore I am not being cheated on".
It takes such maturity to realize that you have a problem and find ways around it so that it doesn’t sabotage yourself and your family. Awesome job!!
So glad you've worked out this solution to help you and your family. I appreciate people who are humble in accepting their challenges, especially mental. My best friend has bipolar.
