Yeah, "I'm doing great". Then you find out they've got 35 credit cards or are $300,000 in debt. And you call that "doing great" ?? I guess their definition of "doing great" is "above ground".

In America, it's just a standard response to a greeting. No one expects anyone to say anything other than "great" or "fine" unless they are hurt or someone died or whatever. This drives Europeans nuts.

Truth is no one wants to hear the truth and everyone knows it. Therefore, the standard "fine" response. Lol it is the "polite" response to a question no one wants answered. I like Dave's response "Better than I deserve" hahaha.

I felt that one i was doing that for a while but it was shows like this one that just made me think man im rlly setting myself up to work till i die. I had managed not to take on much student debt at all im talking less than 10k total but i was living like my credit cards would never need to be paid. Biggest thing is you do all this “cool” shit think your living the life and your miserable never been happier than i am now w my pup and relatively frugal lifestyle. And its weird because the only aspect of my life i really splurge on now is on whatever i get my dog i dont just buy fancy stuff i worked at an animal hospital and just buy what i learned was best. I would do stuff i had no business doing before things some ppl dream of just swiping my card and never felt anything but when i buy my dog a new toy its the best feeling ever and knowing im not fucking myself over is always nice!

Even if it's $370K in 20 years, 20% forgiven on a 1099 tax form is only about $70K in IRS taxation. Then get that on payment plan and have another $40K ready to pay the bulk. Make that $40K through a couple rehab, flips, and rentals. Within a month, I maxed it out at 700 dollars and the statement got sent to my dads house since I hadn’t changed the address. He called me up and chewed me out so much, telling me to immediately go get some scissors and chop the card up and send him a picture of it. He told me NEVER get another credit card or get into debt or he would cut me off.

How do people get in denial? Thought processes such as "I've always been a fairly intelligent person, so therefore I am not being cheated on". Oh and the interest with the SLC is linked entirely into inflation so how much one owes one year will actually owe the next year in proportion.
It's like what someone said in a previous video I watched and commented on the thread, they're living in a dream lifestyle but without the money/capital beforehand, it's downright bonkers.

Bipolar nailed it. My wife handles all our finances for the exact same reason. Learned eventually if I want to buy something I talk to the wife then we wait 4 weeks, if I still want it then we sit and work out if it is reasonable and then start saving to buy it. Took us a while to get this process in place but now we are saving well and I have learned to look for joy elsewhere when the mania kicks in.
