I thought Mother Nature had enough of being polluted/ destroyed so she brewed up a hellacious storm ( as heard just prior to the outro) to rid herself ( wash away ) of mankind. The outro signifies the storm clearing out and that the earth has been cleansed …..
The music in this song tells a story as well as the lyrics do. It starts with the build up to our destruction, then comes the destruction (when it gets heavier), then finally the cleansing of the world after the destruction. A true masterpiece of music in general.

I quit my job to go see Pantera live in 2001. It was their last tour and I don’t regret for one second quitting that job to see this iconic band 😊 This version is new to me, it definitely has an extended outro which is dope as fuck. Be careful with their music videos, a few of them cut major parts of the song to shorten the playtime for the TV audience

And Trendkill is my least favorite album. I’m not gonna pull some weak flex about quitting my 9-5 to go see them. I got to take my son to see Pantera last month. It was different from seeing them with Dime and Vinnie, but so glad he got to experience it. Pantera was a concert I had told him about seeing when I was younger many times and never thought he would get the experience. He went in knowing some of their music and left a huge fan. They played Floods and the emotion during that song was felt by everyone in the audience. It was hard to hold back tears.
The accuracy and finger stretch to play this outro is unmatched. Dime gave 100% all the time. A true wildman that didn't seek approval, he demanded it. My legend and who I looked up to reading magazine articles as a novice guitar player in the 90's and late 2000's. I live for that perfect harmonics. He made that motherfucker sing.

The backdrop of this song and entire record "The Great Southern Trendkill" (1996) The band cut the music in Texas and singer Phil Anselmo cut all his vocals in NOLA during production. Phil turned to heroin and other hard drugs during this time in his life. As a matter of fact towards the beginning of Tour in 96 Phil died medically for about 5 minutes then was brought back to life. They played a concert the very next night. I can hear many subliminal references to this within the undertones of the song. I've been following Pantera since 1994 when I was just a kid which is why the music carries so much meaning personally. Just for kicks I'm gonna attach an interview with Anselmo the vocalist/lyricist if you or anyone else want to better understand him and the music as it evolved through the years. Took place a Loyola University. It's very hard hitting to put it lightly. In closing I'll say I appreciate younger fans getting into bands that saw me through almost my entire life. The song is structured like a novel; the intro is melancholy…then the flood happens and it’s heavy. The song uses the rain sound effects at the end to illustrate the calm after the death of man. The pounding of the toms 1 2 3 4 during the second heavy guitar bridge is to illustrate the people drowning and “pounding on the Arc” as they’re drowning from The Book of Genesis during the story of Noah.
This is possibly one of the hardest Song's and Guitar Solo's ever. But I knew a 15 yr. old kid who nailed it like it was nothing. But I've known guy's who've played for 20yrs +, more equipment, more money. My buddy had a Les Paul, a Marshall, and a Pedal or 2. He was a Genius. I believe Dimebag was too.

This is Pantera's darkest and heaviest album. It is also my favourite.
With that being said, I think you should do 'Hollow' by them.
It's about a flood that comes and washes away mankind.God was essentially disappointed with his creations and wanted to start fresh.
It's a modern take on the story of the biblical flood, that is what the lyrics were about.

I LOVED Pantera. Vulgar Display of Power is still in my top 10 albums of all time. That being said, the first half of this song is just pointless drivel. It's really all about the instrumental second half.
