I’m 36 and got into Pantera before they broke up but after they played what would be their last live show. This song nearly every time gives me goosebumps. It is firmly one of my favourites in music in general.
Love Phill, Love Vinnie, Love Dimebag... And love REX shoutout to Rex his bass lines cary the rhythm when Dime is doing his solos... My favorite solo guitar is in the song "The Sleep".
Dimebag Darrell was a guitar God. You should check out some of his on stage guitar solos. He'll blow your mind and leave your jaw dropped to the floor.
Dime and Vin were there from the beginning, but Phil coming in is when they became the Pantera we all love. Local band turned worldwide after Phil so give the man his props
That vilbrato/operatic singing you hear from Phil is a carry over from Pantera's "glam rock" days. Yes, that right, Pantera started off as a glam rock group
This is objectively one of the greatest solos of all time. Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains was a good friend of Dimebag, and always noted that while there are many guitarists that can play heavy music, few had the soul and grove that Dimebag brought to it, and coming from Cantrell, one of the greatest Riff lords of all time, that statement has weight. Dimebag is seriously unique amongst all metal guitarists.
What's crazy is he has plenty more solos just as good/even better than this one. The sleep, floods, we'll meet again and hard lines sunken cheeks just to name a few.
@@lumpy9964 He was one of the great for sure. I think I rate this solo up there, even though he has many great solos, because it's reached that kind of iconic status that few solos ever reach.
Man when I was coming up we had such good music back then! I remember buying this album when it was new in like '89 or '90 I think. Pantera rules, they crushed then and they crush now. They go HAM on the riff game Dimebag was second to none!
Floods…the absolute best guitar work on any Pantera song. Parts of it are from a solo that Dime would do back in the club days. Love that you’ve discovered them. As far as other songs…Shattered, Fucking Hostile, Hollow (Very cemetery gates vibe), actually you can’t go wrong with ANY Pantera song. Please check out Sepultura (original lineup) and Machine Head.
There's footage of Dime on the Dimevision DVD when he was 18 years old playing an early version on the Floods solo. He worked on that solo most of his life perfecting it. The man was a true artist.
The solo from Floods still sends chills down my spine. That is a perfect example of how powerful music can be, the true embodiment of feeling and emotion through music.
I was asked the other day what is the best song for a beginner to listen to when trying to listen to Heavy Metal and this is always the song I pick! Great choice! Keep up the awesome work!
The greatest gift from Pantera is that from the first listen of these iconic songs to the three thousandth your reaction doesn't waver. Goosebumps every time. The songs are perfect as was the band.
Hi! I'm new to you, but I LOVE your videos... Such a natural, fun, and emotional energy, you put into your reactions. Domination is another FANTASTIC song by Pantera... Possibly, the hardest breakdown in metal history.
the deeper you get into their songs you'll see how Dimes notes and feeling he gave, made each track literal magic, listen to "10's" and "Floods" and tell me it doesn't make you tear up
Pantera was the bomb in the early 90's! They were the best thrash band of the early 90's and pretty much invented groove metal with Vulgar Display of Power. Such a great band! And Dimebag Darrel was unrivaled in his guitar playing!
Exactly... Sometimes people ask me why i love this "old" band, it's not bad but there are better bands... And so on and so on. WELL: These people are in their 20s and i guess you can only fully understand what Pantera was when you lived in the 90s. There simply was no Slipknot or Five finger death punch or or or. I never forget the moment i heard "Mouth for war" as i thought Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth were the hardest and best bands in the world. Holy crap, Pantera blew all of the straight away and defined the sound of the next decade to come. And if you saw them livein the 90s (thank god i had the chance 2 times) they were a unbelievable tight powerhorse on stage. Never heard such greatness again. That were 2 once in a livetime experiences never to be forgotten.
I had a dream of Darrell the night/morning before it was announced that he died---and will never forget waking up in tears and wondering why.......I had a dr.`s appt. that morning and on my way to work is when I heard on the radio that "a member of the band Damageplan" was shot onstage...I didn`t find out who until I got home after work.....THEN I started putting things together about the whole dream sequence--it was of Darrell and I was to his right and he looked at me as he stepped onto a stairway, with the biggest friggin` smile I ever saw on that man`s face.....and that was it,he was walking up to the next step andI woke up in tears, feeling like I had just been in the middle of crying my eyes out....gives me chills to this day.................

When you get a chance, you should check out Dimebag Darrell's solo called "still got the blues". It's a really awesome solo that Dime perfected over his career as a professional musician. Dime wasn't only a guitar genius, he was a fun cool guy that would literally stop his tour bus and pickup fans to party with and hang out. He was so cool that he would grill steaks and hang out with his fans, that's the Dimebag Darrell I knew. I was lucky enough to hang out backstage with Dime once. And he stayed there until 5:00 in the morning just to make sure he talked to everyone who waited for hours just to talk to. Rest in peace Dime and Vinny, the world of metal has never been the same without them both!
The Sleep is probably my absolute favorite Dime solo!!!!!!!! Gotta experience some of their more hardcore stuff too! War Nerve, Slaughtered, Suicide Note 1&2 are a must!!

I JUST found your channel this morning, and what a PERFECT video to grab my attention....This band was EVERYTHING to me after I found them, and opened me up to so many more great bands in the process and aftermath of discovering them... That being said, you should consider a song from Vulgar Display of Power, that is unique on the entirety of the album, and I suspect it is a FAR UNDERRATED /APPRECIATED MASTERPIECE as a specific showcase of their talents. To me lyrically, it is one of Pantera's most significant and powerful songs. Its an emotional roller coaster....and you can feel every bit of the pain and sadness behind this song when it was written. PLEASE STRONGLY consider doing a reaction video to "Hollow".. I CANNOT recommend this song/video enough... With LOVE. RIP to the Abbott Brothers...
I love Dime but Phil gets overlooked when we talk about Panteras success. He's probably the best lead vocalist for a metal band in history. Don't @ me with Hetfield as well :)
I had the pleasure of having drinks with Dime at a gentlemen's club several times in Dallas TX. He was a friggin badass on and off the stage. Man I miss that dude.
Classic song and Pantera was a gift. I hope you get to react to Krisgalder by Heilung. The live version at Castle Fest is the best way to experience the song as the band sounds completely different live than on their album.
This was the first Pantera song I ever heard. It's been so long I forgot this song was on the Tales From The Crypt Presents: Demon Knight Soundtrack. Also one of my all time favorite horror movies ever, but when it came out this song was on the hard rock/metal radio stations as basically the official theme song for the movie. I saw them a few short years later with Type O Negative at my first ever Metal show. I was 15! I looked older than I was and my Uncle got me in. Seeing Pantera was like a religious experience followed by about 25 years worth of Metal shows after seeing these guys.
For a great Dime solo you need to listen to " The sleep " and his best one is on Power Metal and that is before Cowboys from hell and the first Album with Phil Anselmo as their singer...the number on that is "We'll meet again" ....check it out.
I remember hearing this song for the first time on headphones back when it was released. Heard it around 11pm on a summer night on KBPI (famous FM radio, Denver metal station in the 80/90's). Summer showers and an amazing lightening display made it even more powerful. The power and impact were immediate on first listen. Every lyric in this song hits home, but when he sings...."And when she died I should've cried, And spared myself some pain, You left me incomplete, All alone as the memories still remain". Wow. Amazing band.
I'm new to Aileen's content, but as I go through her Pantera collection, I have to say this is one of the few reaction channels that I actually don't mind the pauses. She has a way of articulating emotion into words that I've rarely seen amongst the genre. She really does get it. RIP DB-VP 👊🤘
I was lucky enough to see Pantera live back in the late 90s Phil Anselmo has by far the best voice of all the greats in metal. when i was a metal band vocalist his was the 1 voice i wished i had the ability to reproduce. such class across the board and not just his voice but the entire band's skills and talents are almost unrivaled.

Glad you took the time to make sure you listened to the proper version. It definitely changes the whole dynamic of the song. Great reaction. If you want heavier from them, "Primal toxic concrete sledge" hits hard. Also "A new level" or a hidden gem with my favorite riff possibly ever; "Slaughtered"..."The art of shredding" is killer too. Basically their whole discography is incredible, but these are off the top of my head...oh, and a classic favorite, "Cowboys from hell" very iconic riff.

Love that you recognize it. He gets looked over, but all I hear is Rex and he is an untouchable monster.
Yeah Bro! The same for me! And 10'' too...
Rhythm
@@PleaseForgiveYourself english is not my native tongue, sometimes I misswrite some words! But you and everyone else got the message! ;)
Dimebag Darrell was a guitar God. You should check out some of his on stage guitar solos. He'll blow your mind and leave your jaw dropped to the floor.
Dime was lead, rhythm, and back up vocals, legend. Also props to Rex for filling in rhythm making it all come together
Rex*
@@ko4otv43 thanks for the correction, im too old to check for auto correct. Gets me every time
Rex plays 12 string on the intro and played guitar on quite a few Pantera recordings. Even played tubular bells on some of their songs from the 80's
rex played piano on this song and does backup vocals in the chorus for this song(live)
This solo still gives me chills after all these years.
Phil's voice always amazes me. Especially after you hear his speaking voice, which sounds like a heavy dump truck going down a coarse gravel road.
Which makes it even funnier to remember Pantera used to be a hair metal band
Haha, not wrong!
"The Sleep". You have GOT to listen to "The Sleep". I can't for the life of me understand why that song doesn't get more love
Senpai: I love how the guitar backs up the vocals. It's like there are two vocalists...
Me: Just wait until the end...
Dime and Vin were there from the beginning, but Phil coming in is when they became the Pantera we all love. Local band turned worldwide after Phil so give the man his props
Thank you SOOOOOOOO much for reacting to the full studio version!
Of course!! ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve listen to this song for decades and this song still gives me goosebumps
That vilbrato/operatic singing you hear from Phil is a carry over from Pantera's "glam rock" days. Yes, that right, Pantera started off as a glam rock group
It's surprising how many people that have been long time fans of Pantera don't even know this.
Before he became the Dimebag Darrell we all knew and loved he began as Diamond Darrell
Absolutely, and my understanding of that, is that it is useful to follow the trend for a decade before generating the trend during the next decade.
Song will forever be a true masterpiece. Rip Abbott Brothers D&V -TRUE LEGENDS NEVER DIE
Can't overlook Rex. His bass sounds great in this song. Also a great secondary vocalist.
It's really really nice to watch someone's reaction to these music that I've been listening to pretty much all my life
This is objectively one of the greatest solos of all time.
As some asshole from Seattle, I love your respect for Jerry. He deserves it. He’s still alive
Man when I was coming up we had such good music back then! I remember buying this album when it was new in like '89 or '90 I think. Pantera rules, they crushed then and they crush now. They go HAM on the riff game Dimebag was second to none!
Definitely my favorite song from Pantera,it has a little bit of everything that makes a great song.
My absolute favorite Pantera song, it truly shows the full range of musical abilities that the band can cover!
Your musical opinion is so refined and educated. Grateful for finding you.
Yes pantera did have a massive impact on my life, your so right beautiful
Floods is definitely up there! But I would put the solo from "We'll Meet Again" over it by just a little bit 🤘
I feel you ,relate to you
The outro to Floods is called "Rita's Lullaby" and was written when Darrell was young for his girlfriend Rita to play on loop to help her fall asleep.
Literally cried watching this. Use to love seeing this reaction on people's faces when I showed non metal heads this song. Pure beautiful. Thank you
I was asked the other day what is the best song for a beginner to listen to when trying to listen to Heavy Metal and this is always the song I pick! Great choice! Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you so much! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
nay.........................................
Probably not my first call but definitely in the top 5.
(please note, I've been a metalhead since 1975 so my goto list is quite long)
One of my favorite reactors commenting on another of my favorite reactors reactions! Is this like a Reactception?
The greatest gift from Pantera is that from the first listen of these iconic songs to the three thousandth your reaction doesn't waver. Goosebumps every time. The songs are perfect as was the band.
Pantera ...kept metal alive through the 90's
bingo
Sounds like you weren't alive in the 90's.
Alongside Megadeth And Sepultura
Hi! I'm new to you, but I LOVE your videos... Such a natural, fun, and emotional energy, you put into your reactions. Domination is another FANTASTIC song by Pantera... Possibly, the hardest breakdown in metal history.
"This Love" needs to be in the line up, the ultimate response to the record label asking for a "ballad" or "love song"
I've might have told you ,I've been thishening to this since I was 15 I'm now almost 47 , I still love it every day
"THIS LOVE" is the song that turned me onto Pantera almost 30 years ago.
Pantera is one of the hardest and most unique bands ever. One of my top 5 of all time easily. So many badass songs.
the deeper you get into their songs you'll see how Dimes notes and feeling he gave, made each track literal magic, listen to "10's" and "Floods" and tell me it doesn't make you tear up
Pantera was the bomb in the early 90's!
Dk if you caught it but Phil and dimebag was going back to back with the high notes at the end, absolutely insane
This is one of my favourite songs by pantera.
If you want to hear Phil's Rob Halford "inspired" singing voice. Just listen to his 1st album with Pantera, Power Metal. A very underrated, forgotten and important 1st step towards the Pantera we all know and love.
There's also shattered from this album
The solo in We'll meet again is just fucking insane, what a great album
My thoughts exactly
@@franciscoborjaescobarsuare5802 yeah, that's always been their hardest song for me. Very hard to even passably get through without sounding weak AF by the end sounding more like like The Darkness, lol.
@@sheloflores290 man that solo is so fucking good. I'm not really a fan of the style of the rest of the song but that solo is one of Dime's best for sure
Thank you so much for getting the whole intro and video! Much love to you and your channel. I was engaged and she passed away last October. This song means alot to me to say the least. RIP Harley
PanterA above All!! Keep digging deeper into their music. One of my favorites is War Nerve.
They were a special band. Blessed to have seen them live a few times
This is one of my favorite Pantera tracks. The ending is so epic! I love that you put your heart rate on the screen. While you are on a Pantera kick, I recommend The Great Southern Trendkill! It’s another heavy and epic one. ☺️😉😊👍🏽🙌🏽🔥🔥🔥☀️☀️☀️
💥😎💥Floods....btw, Love the Reactions!💥!
That’s a Gary Moore song that Dime covered
The Sleep is probably my absolute favorite Dime solo!!!!!!!! Gotta experience some of their more hardcore stuff too! War Nerve, Slaughtered, Suicide Note 1&2 are a must!!
Suicide Note 2 is probably the hardest song they play.
Thought I was the only one, The Sleep solo is my favorite solo of any guitarist ever
Amen The Sleep is just straight NASTY
People definitely sleep on The Sleep. lol
It was pretty cool being a kid back then and seeing stuff like this come across MTV. I sure miss those days.
@ 5:36 "I feel like one of the GREATEST....guitarists of all time"
Yes. He was.
In my simple and humble opinion, he is the LAST true "guitar god" None since....
He belongs in the same room with Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Tommy Iommi, Randy Rhoades...and Eddie VAN HALEN.
Dimebag was "arguably" the best Metal Guitarist of all time.
I saw him live many times, he gave goosebumps to THOUSANDS of people every time he played.
Wow! The singer is so on point. Every single note happens just exactly when it has to happen. Simply wow. Great performance, also very good work from the rest of the band. Love the song!
Me too, Aileen. I was just totally in the song as you said you were. Couldn't think of anything else, and just enjoyed the song.
Phil’s voice is monster powerful!
I'm glad that you did the full version of this song. A lot of UA-camrs don't do the mellow part of the video. I got a quote tattoo dedicated to the Abbott brothers on my right shoulder that says "They Came To Rock and Rocked Like No Other." I know that they are up in heaven and jamming out. R.I.P the Abbott Brothers
Another beautiful song pantera did was called HOLLOW , its from the other album called vulgar display of power. Its the last track on the album
At last, someone does a reaction to the full version. Bravo!
This is my favorite reaction I’ve ever seen. It clicked with you. You saw the magic. They were the best to ever do it and nobody will ever tip them.
I love Dime but Phil gets overlooked when we talk about Panteras success. He's probably the best lead vocalist for a metal band in history. Don't @ me with Hetfield as well :)
Every member is quintessential. They’re the perfect textbook of what metal is.
12:50 "The Bass" As dime hits the most iconic squeal known to man
She can barely bring herself to compliment guitars than bass for some reason
@@LastHalberdshe is a bassist that’s why
Probably their most powerful song. Great reaction!
Glad you enjoyed ❤️
I think I'm broken is more powerful
Floods.
I had the pleasure of having drinks with Dime at a gentlemen's club several times in Dallas TX. He was a friggin badass on and off the stage. Man I miss that dude.
They should invent a "goosebump-o-meter" , that would score pretty high for this song :😝
They should add Pantera too the Big 4 year's ago.
Because they where just as good.
RIP.VINNIE PAUL AND DIMEBAG WE LOVE AND MISS YALL ❤️ ♥️
Classic song and Pantera was a gift. I hope you get to react to Krisgalder by Heilung. The live version at Castle Fest is the best way to experience the song as the band sounds completely different live than on their album.
New subscriber, glad to see the younger generation appreciate great music as well as the artistry behind it
RIP Dime... we miss and love ya!! Great review Aileen!!! Keep up the good work!!
RIP to Vinnie as well
This was the first Pantera song I ever heard.
Pantera é o máximo, melhor banda que existe, fã brasileiro . Parabéns pelo trabalho
Brasil! Maximo respeito pelo trabalho dos caras.
The "two vocalists" thing is shown so well in this, especially at the end (we all know which part).
For a great Dime solo you need to listen to " The sleep " and his best one is on Power Metal and that is before Cowboys from hell and the first Album with Phil Anselmo as their singer...the number on that is "We'll meet again" ....check it out.
I am glad you listened to the full version of the song instead of jumping straight to the chorus, the beginning is arguablty the best part of the song
If you think this is a good solo, wait until you hear Floods.
Спасибо большое что вспомнили эту легендарную песенку! Она и правда гениальна.
"Jesus Fucking Christ" The best reaction to Pantera 👍🏼👍🏼
I was lucky enough to see Pantera live back in the late 90s Phil Anselmo has by far the best voice of all the greats in metal. when i was a metal band vocalist his was the 1 voice i wished i had the ability to reproduce. such class across the board and not just his voice but the entire band's skills and talents are almost unrivaled.
Pantera rocks
I've Seen like 9,000 of these kinds of reactions, this time I'm in love with this girls' reactions to heavy music. Subscribing
You’re so beautiful I’m so many ways!!! Never seen a woman love metal like you. And you’re funny, and gorgeous at the same time. You’ll make someone happy if you already aren’t.
thank you very much!
Phil was an opera singer before he started Pantera. His voice is incredible.
no he wasn't
This song hits you in the feels every time.
When you submit to a piece of music that beautifully breaks your heart.
Your music opinions are great. I'd just stick to music and stay away from making comments in streams like Disgusting red states. Other than that good reaction.
Probably the most well spoken, thoughtful, intuitive reaction to one of two of my favorite bands anyone has done. Thank you for your kind words regarding the Abbott brothers. I hope your channel thrives and people respect your level of respect you put out
I saw Pantera live around Thanksgiving in 97 while I was in The US Army. Excellent show. A good friend of mine worked at The Clubhouse. It was a Gentlemen's Club in Dallas that Pantera would hang at, she was working the night Dime was murdered. She said it was surreal when the news hit. Everybody was crying and just absolutely devastated. Yeah, Pantera is a band that will always hold a near and dear place in my heart. Thanks for the reaction. New subscriber.
I'm glad you are discovering the great bands who have been here this whole time.... another fan is always welcome!!!!
Yes! The official video is a travesty of justice! Leaves out the entire foundation of the song. Most that react to it don’t know there’s a part they’re missing that would blow them away.
Your reactions to really good metal are so enjoyable! You get what they are trying to give you. What a treat, huh? Thank you and please continue with the good tunes!
When Dimebag was murdered, I cried. The death of the best metal guitarist of all time , hands down.. It's not even close. He grew up sleeping with his guitar 💔🔥💣
At ozfest when Pantera came up it was time to get right next to the speaker. After they were done it was Ozzy time
Yeah one of the most haunting guitar solos. Awesome
