this isn't just in business, this definitely goes for society as well! the only way moving forward is to understand different perspectives and how we can collaborate to create the best possible outcome. this guy is fantastic, really enjoyed him.
it's been a while since a tedtalk resonated with me so much. Steve Jobs clearly knew what he was doing. from my experience, when i've had a lot of "smart" people on my team, and just like this guy said - having conversations, collaborating, building on each others ideas... that's where the true success came from. head office saw it, we saw it, morale was high. i'll be sharing this with some colleagues now. great stuff.
You're definitely onto something Andrew! I think one of the biggest problems as well, is that management are usually so out of touch - so even if they can look at the big picture and see where people might be better suited and what not - unless management spends their time in the thick of it... I don't think they'll really understand.
Finally! How many of us have been in jobs where the higher management just has no idea what's going on. for businesses to be successful these days, all people involved need to be hands on.
Not only doesn't management not know who to bring out our best, many don't want to. I don't totally agree here, I have had so many managers push me down because I knew something they didn't and they were threatened by that. Good ones versus bad ones, that would make interesting findings.
Its ideas like this that could make such a difference in how we structure our work. Change management is hard work as we get pretty attached to titles and descriptions.
right on! this guy knows the way of the future! can u imagine the productivity, the height of morale - businesses would experience growth and success in ways they had never imagined!!
how easy it would be, how productive it could be! we are in the days of collaboration, diversity and unity. management no longer has a place.... but that might be because of automation!
Awesome!! I'm sending this to my boss (She's one of my best friends) - we are always complaining about how upper management just has no idea because they're never FOH.
"What matters is context in this very moment" well said. It requires critical thinking to interpret and curate, do you think the average employee is capable of this?
Change gets a bad rap and I think is has a lot to do with the language we use. This topic highlights the need for change to titles and position descriptions. Change tends to frighten most people but if we don't start looking at the big picture now and making big changes I hate to think what will become of us.
In stores forced open, where low wage staff faces the public, and is at risk I never see management. You would think they would make a point to be out front to not just share the risk but to share the load and worry and be there just because they should be!

"Context Curator" absolutely brilliant idea. Brilliant talk! Definitely sharing!
this is the way of the future, this is how we cut down costs and ensure products and productivity stay consistent!

spot on!
you're very kind 🙏
Control and command, hierarchy, bureaucracy (excessively complicated administrative procedures). Thank you Andrew I simply enjoyed this truth.
thank you for your kind words
Really like this talk, drama and humor. "Its not that I'm lazy..it's that I just don't care."
many thanks for taking the time to watch it

Excellent talk Andrew. I love the term and concept of context curator. Well done!
loved that bit.

Empowerment and mentoring sounds like a work dream come true! Imagine beginning with our education system.

wow thats right, we must have had the same managers
agree agree agree, I have known too many bad bosses.
I hear you..
this is truth, management are always scared of being replaced from below.
I have been in some awful ones!!!

The way a team operates, how true.
there is always drama in the office
drama in my office too, glad to be at home these days
not my team!!!
they should all do it this way..
or doesnt operate

I love this talk! Finally someone is addressing the archaic methods we are still using in a work world that is killing creativity quietly.
Very much appreciate your feedback Nicolas!
agree

Everything about this talk makes so much sense and is so on point for exactly now.
thank you for saying this 🙏
Great Talk! Thanks, Andrew for sharing these inspiring thoughts
Many thanks, Fabian, for your feedback! Much appreciated.
"What matters is context in this very moment" well said. It requires critical thinking to interpret and curate, do you think the average employee is capable of this?
Very thought provoking!
I really hope so. I feel like the pay would be better, there would be more people looking after each other.
yeah that's if they ensured that there was a trickle down but i doubt it, who ever owns these companies just want to make more money
No-one to blame but ourselves, true so true.
We hang to old thinking and systems like world will end if change them.
Like this talk a lot - very smart ideas.
Thanks for sending
Very inspiring, Andrew!
Many thanks, Olga!
Deep thoughts and good figures, nice!
I appreciate your kind words!
Yup, happens in the real world.
But what about now, everything has changed, companies gone, others barely hanging on. And no-one is in the office everyone working from home.
I was thinking about this - this week. Now with so many people working from home, has managements role changed?
you would think so!
Its the end of the world as we know it, that's the deal with change, trying to get them to understand why change is necessary.
Waiting, waiting, waiting and waiting for instructions from how many levels of management? Apparently this is normal.
I can't even tell how many hours I have wasted between 8am - 6pm in meetings that talk about the same thing.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 added new words to my vocabulary /holacracy and humanocracy/ 🚀
Many thanks, Elena! Glad to hear you liked it

So true!
great idea n all.. but like, you think the rich people who r running the show r gonna wanna rework the system? i dont think so.
In stores forced open, where low wage staff faces the public, and is at risk I never see management. You would think they would make a point to be out front to not just share the risk but to share the load and worry and be there just because they should be!
although i agree with you, most of the time the managers don't get paid enough to have a care factor like that!
From my experience, management never gets paid enough to care. Hence why there is so much apathy passed around.
Legit. Where I'm from the moment you sign over to a salary, you pretty much have sold your soul.
Reporting to 8 bosses, not unheard of and its not rocket decision making.
nope, but the red tape and time it takes to get anything done is BS
A new era is dawning, where workers don't need that middle level in companies, people work without the glorified babysitters better.
👍🏼
Many thanks 🙏Krishna
I think this should be forced viewing for every stake holder, ceo and manager out there. They really just have no idea.
👏👏👏
Many thanks!
Insanity - doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Ground hog day, just doing it over and over again.
