  • “The Reinvention Guru”, introduced to us the concept of the “Titanic Syndrome”. She uses the Titanic and its famous story as a metaphor for giants of the business industries who, due to their inability to change, “sink” like the ship rather than stay afloat and thrive in an ever changing world. Nadya tells us with fervent passion that “When you invite change into your life, when you allow yourself to reinvent, you earn the right to choose a new option. Change is not the enemy, it’s a beautiful freedom to make any choice you want”. Reinvention Specialist. Sustainability strategist. Businesswoman. Author. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Excellent to listen to this! Pointing out the fear in ego ,and the dangers of assumption so well! If we are to assume the worst, and prepare for the "worst", Would we also balance with reckless idealism ,and prepare for the "best" possible outcome one can imagine? This can lead to replacing fear based solutions! " Defining"and highlighting , how so many fears have shaped us,and helped us to survive , and still do ,hopefully will lead us to see how love/truth/courage/compassion are the ONLY things that dissolve fear. Thanks! Your entertaining analogies in regards to business survival , say so much more in our big picture ,mistakes need factoring in as it the best way we learn,Granted, some mistakes pretty huge, like the sinking of Titanic, or perhaps a Genocide?(heart out to those who've suffered!)All need to be forgiven,at some level, understood in their complete, recognized truth! Without truth what is reality? She points out what I see as a magic time for us right now,for us to with trust ,truth, humour , and courage, literally save our Titanic-ish world and swap out fear for love! My encouragements with your presentations! Its always been friendly fire! Perhaps a mistake! Lets keep and build this truth and peace we have created and make it bigger! No truth =no solution.I believe recognizing this and learning pays homage to all those who learned the hard way ,so that we can be here now enjoying this great Ted talk and learning like we never have before ! Peace all and thanks Mrs Zhexembayeva, great point of view!

She didn't discuss the bad record that American companies have in paying far too much to CEOs who often grind the long-time employees and company into the ground while lining their own pockets and garnering golden parachutes for themselves. The recent demise of Sears illustrates some of that destructive CEO behavior.
