+JJ 86 definitely… the Lars Ulrich and Maroon 5 ones were so interesting because you actually got to hear a story from them; this seemed like they were looking at their watches all the time Dave was talking! :(
that holy wars riff got to be one of the coolest shit ever created by a man. Power at its pureness, great riff and i never play it correctly hahaha my bad.
Hopefully youve learned it by now. If you have a video let me know. Ive been trying to get that intro for like 5 months now I thought I was just to slow. Then I see Dave play it and I realize ive been trying to play it the "HARD" way.... fml
Mustaine has always been one of my favorite all-purpose metal guitarists. He can do it all. His lead and his rhythm playing are both solid. I read a couple instructional articles written by him in a guitar magazine and he's also quite good at explaining what he does on the guitar and how he does it. He breaks it down in an easy to understand manner. He would make for a good guitar teacher.
One of the best concerts I have ever seen in my life. Megadeth with Marty and Nick. Blew me away and they played like 2 and a half hours in Dallas at the Starplex. I think now it's the Smirnoff venue. The name changed so many times either way. Blew me away especially when Dave and Marty did their guitar solos.
Every time I watch a Dave Mustaine video where he's talking about guitars and how he does things, he's like a teacher. He has really great tips and "nuggets" of information about guitar work.
Bet you a zillion bucks he goes back to Jackson before he retires. Personally i'd love to see him full circle back to BC Rich before he ends his career.
Dave is at the Top Ten of Greatests Guitarists of all Time. I Can Listen Him Playing Guitar and Singing all Day. Pure Metal Talend Guitarist. Dave all Day. 🎸🎼🎸😎👍
It's fun to think about what Metallica would sound like with Mustaine, and who's the better songwriter/riff maker. Now that Mustaine and Hetfield are sober, Metallica and Megadeath should put out some decent music in the future. Their music while they were on drugs was pretty good too haha. There's not enough room for those two egos on one stage much less a record. Great music.
I wonder what Megadeth would have sounded like with Dimebag Darrell and his brother Vinnie Paul in the band instead of Nick Menza and Marty Friedman. the only reason that didn't happen was cuz Mustaine had already hired Menza and Dime and Vinnie are a package deal.
Eric Goempel you mean kicking lars for almost literally any other metal drummer would be a must. (ps I love metallica and megadeth I just think lars is a decidedly crap drummer nowadays)
One thing I've learned and thought about lately in life (especially with the advent of UA-cam) is this: The more you start sniffing around in the gossip of your childhood heroes, the more you become bitter and disillusioned, and then you start slinging mud at others who you ought to get along with. I think the whole Dave vs. James (aka Megadeth vs. Metallica) trope on UA-cam videos is proof of this. I've learned to just accept that these guys are just guys. They happen to make great music that we all love, but of course in all the times they've been interviewed and all the crap they've been through in their life, they are bound to say and do some really cuntish shit for which it's easy to judge them and say "this guy's a prick". But can you imagine if half of your entire life were caught on video and broadcast to the public? I know I've done and said a LOT of shit I'm not proud of. Does this make me a douche? Maybe. But I would hope that people would give me the benefit of the doubt and judge me by my finer qualities. Yeah Dave has said a lot of dickish things. So has James. So has Ozzy. So has Mother Teresa and probably even Ghandi. We're all human. Stop judging others, and just appreciate what they contribute. The story of Megadeth is pretty inspirational when you look at it with a positive light, and they make incredible albums. Same goes for Metallica, even though I like them less. Just enjoy the music, and as Monty Python says, "Always look on the bright side of life" and then whistle. Lol.
Dave is getting old :( Well at least he can still play. His voice is going (practically gone compared to the 90's now), but what do you expect from the guy who did every drug in the fucking world.
he said something that all aspiring guitar players should know, he liked a certain style because it was challenging. I play, but I hate being challenged (playing difficult stuff), therefore I am limited to how good it am. I was a professional singer for many years and I loved challenging songs, so I got better and better. The point is, if you want to be great something, you have to want to be challenged. If you don't want to be bothered with difficult stuff, you will be limited.
Absolutely dude! The guy is a total douchebag when it comes to bringing his political opinions on a stage, but he still is a brilliant musician and the true father of Thrash metal. Last time I checked you don't have to agree with someone's political views to be impressed by their music.
You took the words right out of my mouth. Dave is arrogant, surly, and sometimes just plain mean, but when he picks up a guitar, he is unstoppable. The lightning fast riffs he writes are unmatched.
CreepyPastaOctavia and yet anthrax came after metallica and megadeth and did not make as big an impact on the ThrashMetal scene as megadeth and metallica . just because they are your favorite band does not make them any more relevant

Last year I got to see Iron Maiden and Megadeth together, and before the show, everyone who would be standing in the floor (myself included) was lined up outside the arena, then someone shouted that Dave was inside giving an interview, so we all crowded around the windows to gawk, and there he was, wearing that same KISS shirt (before he went and changed into the usual white button down shirt that he wore on stage).
His greatest riff, imo. Not a month goes by that I don't start mouth-guitaring it in the shower. And I haven't even listened to "Rust in Peace" in probably 20 years. Doesn't matter, though. It's just so freakin' memorable!
My dave mustaine sig model never worked right. Couldnt exchanged it because guitar center couldnt get another one. So they charged me replace the pick up selector switch which wasnt the problem. Good luck contacting dean, they never responded to me via emails and they never answer thier phone. Ill never buy another dean. $1000 would think it would have tested before being shipped out!
My fault I never plugged it the store special ordered it for made sure it was in good shape took home. The next plug it ans when switching pick ups one at neck cuts outs. I tried to have guitar center fix it they charged me 35 so not its in the case and I wobt even look at. Im not the only this happened to and guitar center told me there an awful company to deal with on warranty.
I bought that peace sells guitar and its the best one so far than the ibanez rg i have. Its amazing, sounds amazing, easy to play, and just overall great
Carlos Irizarry What a coincidense, I was listening to Battery from Metallica when I decided to play guitar, and James was playing Battery in his video At Guitar Center
+Judas Priest Jackson guitars (King and Kelly) have a greater look, now it seems to me the higher end at Jackson is quite not as higher end as it used to be. Duncan pickups have been replaced by EMG, the wood quality is not quite what it used to be either when DM had his signature model. Same with the assembly, components are not always consistent in quality, some Jackson models tend to produce a constant white sound, it is usually due to poor assembly or cheaper electric components. I forgot the name of that other pickup make DM was using at the time but it was far better than EMG with a massive sound. Overall, it seems DM has a huge positive input because as he rightly said I cannot recall a Dean (not even the Dimebag line) that sounded right straight out of the box. Vs are my favourite, they are much lighter than Kelly and Dimebag Series. The Ibanez Iceman had a pretty good design to it, but again it required a lot of tuning.
"I've never gotten a guitar from Dean that wasn't ready to play"
That is cause you are Dave Mustaine. And we're not.
Yeah well you heard the if we get super big right. No ego check needed then right lol.
His guitars are shittiest things I've ever played when I've picked them up. I'd love to play one he would tour with.
+Dunn Jefferson LOL...good one...

I wish this video was longer..

perhaps should play "Help Me Help You" or "Ice Ice Baby" (are those titles correct?) to make it perfect?

Good luck contacting dean, they never responded to me via emails and they never answer thier phone. Ill never buy another dean. $1000 would think it would have tested before being shipped out!
My fault I never plugged it the store special ordered it for made sure it was in good shape took home. The next plug it ans when switching pick ups one at neck cuts outs. I tried to have guitar center fix it they charged me 35 so not its in the case and I wobt even look at. Im not the only this happened to and guitar center told me there an awful company to deal with on warranty.
bacground intro song ?
I totally agree. Mustaine is the greatest song writer in metal. His guitar playing is also world class. A real source of inspiration :)
I have a Silver VMNT and it's probably my favorite guitar I have
Thanks Dave. A Very welcome change from the mundane of the 80's.
Metallica might be the more commercially succesful band, but Dave is definately way more skilled Guitar player than James and Kirk together ...
xabun I prefer James' riffs. At least the old ones.
xabun No.
Crazee Bassist the old ones were by Dave
Not on Puppets and Justice Supra1jz
xabun Metallica is better to listen too, but Megadeth is overall more skilled and way more defining the thrash genre then Metallica ever did.
hes so awesome when hes just talkin about music..and not religion.
wait till he discovers science and realizes the past few years of his life have been a waste of time lol

[tips fedora]
***** He went from a science believing Athiest to a Christian.. I don't think thats gonna happen.
Chainheart Machine He was always a Christian, but he wasn't quite born again until several years ago.
metalmusician6798 I don't know if you would call his parents christians anymore then muslim extremists are muslims but yeah.
I bought that peace sells guitar and its the best one so far than the ibanez rg i have. Its amazing, sounds amazing, easy to play, and just overall great

Not copy ESP or Jackson? This guitar is damn near identical spec-wise to Jackson King Vs and ESP's V!
I love Riff Guitar 2:03
It's from the song 'Holy Wars The Punishment Due' just in case you didn't know and were wondering :D
That is the riff that I was listening to when I decided to learn guitar
Carlos Irizarry What a coincidense, I was listening to Battery from Metallica when I decided to play guitar, and James was playing Battery in his video At Guitar Center
Link Sayajin sweet
Megadeth - holy wars, the punishment due
Just imagine Metallica today with Cliff and Dave the world would be so different
I like Dean Guitars and ESP to, but nothing beats a Jackson for me...\\m//
+Judas Priest Yeah! Hail the King V!
\\m// \\m//
I had the Iceman 25 years ago, it had terrible pickups, but I loved the shape and feel of it...
+Judas Priest Di Marzio? I never was a big fan of these pick ups but the Iceman was very nicely finished for an Ibanez. It had a superb cut.
lots of respect to Dave. I wish people would lay off of him i really do. I love metallica but Megadeth are just as talented musically.
I have a Dean Eighty Eight that has a normal headstock. I love it's headstock over the typical Dean one.
tone comes from your hands not 900 dollar signature guitar. Buy one if you have money if not get a cheap one with good pickup in it.
quit293 no but mostly from 900 guitar and 2000 dollar amp
quit293 id rather get a guitar that feels good rather than sounds good
I get it if you are bad you are not going to have a good tone but if you want to have a killer tone you are going to need a killer set up too
I wonder if Guitar Center prefers Megadeth or Metallica
Dave: 2 minutes
James: 13
Kirk: 8
Straight up good question. Dave is The Master.
