I’ve mentioned it before, the most important crop you are growing is your children. You had me in tears when you spoke of letting them assume some chores and the boys responding by owning it. Well done both of you. Now just teach to say thanks mom when you ask them how breakfast was.

Yep that's how we fed our pigs when we raised them in the late 60's and early 70's. We fed ours 7 different grains in 5 gal buckets and added water to make a slop. Then they got all the scraps mom had. And our pigs had 1 1/2 acres of land that was fenced. With a creek and pond that ran thru the bottom of the area. They loved it! So did I. I spent most of the summer in with the pigs. Playing with them. Ours were so tame as I spent so much time with them. The area was spotless to run around in. Just avoided their bathroom corner. Their house always had a big bunch of clean straw. And when mom couldn't find me......she checked the pig house and would find me sacked out using a pig for a pillow. Good times. My hubby and I want to raise a couple next year. Going to get an acre fenced off for them first. And yes, I knew the pigs were going to be bacon and pork chops. I was a country girl.

Just started watching these recently. I enjoy them very much. Simple country life. My late grandma had chickens & horses on her farm back in the late 70's & all through the 80's. All of us grandchildren used to always help out there especially with the chickens & feeding & tending to the horses. My grandma also had a garden in the summer. Great time of my life. It taught me a lot about responsibility & hard work. And yes most of us went barefooted during the spring & summer.

Get them cooking! It's the best skill for them to learn. Start with baking packet cake mixes, they learn how to crack eggs and mix with a wooden spoon. You can freeze portions for school snacks, by the time they get a break, it's defrosted. I also had mine ironing from age 5 and making their own beds. Start them off ironing pillowcases on a cooler setting. By the time mine were 7 they were ironing most of their own clothes. Don't be a slave, if you're working, so are they! Ignore how inefficient they are and don't redo their work. They will realise that they have to get better at jobs themselves.

We let him pour in things when making brownies or cake or cookies. We had to move into a small cabin to wait till our move date so we haven't done it with my 4 year old. Once we get moved I plan on letting them help cook and clean up the house and other chores and start paying them after my husband gets a job. We're moving from MO. I was their assistant and they would read it through & we would make it. Instant pot was many a meals (soup in the winters). Today, all 4 can cook for themselves. If you can't get it fixed, remove the hard drive and you can purchase an external drive case for it and still access your data. Transfer all the data you want to keep then format it to get rid of all the old Windows stuff and you can use it as a backup drive.

Fix Or Repair Daily, FORD! Ours is in the shop again, too! Really thinking we need to drive another brand under the flat bed of that thing.
    Garden looks great y’all!

Your videos are always great picture reproduction but this one is exceptional colour and definition. My computer hasn't changed so I'm wondering if you're using anything new to film with. Your grass, fields and trees are just as 'green' as here in Ireland - maybe just Spring. Hope the wagon gets fixed asap and the new comp has a full and long life. Be well and safe.

Small adults given the chance can do most anything. I was 8 the first time i used a circular saw. Scared at first but after a while it was like chewing gum. Encouraging them to do things, even when it involves risk. Your rasing adults not children and you two are doing great.

My friend always said she wasn’t raising children, she was raising the parents of her grandchildren. 🙂

Wrong. They are not anywhere near adults. They are raising children. It is your exact mindset that has allowed child marriage to take place again and forcing children to give birth to children.

That is disgusting. Your friend and you are sick.

@@jessicapearson9479 Dear Jessica - She meant that it was important to her that she raise children with integrity - people who she could trust to raise any grandchildren that might come along. Her children are now happy, capable, trustworthy adults - I think she accomplished her goal. There is currently no prospect of grandchildren and my friend is fine with that. Given the context of this discussion I was startled that you interpreted my statement as you did, but it is a good reminder that internet comments can easily be misconstrued. God bless you!

@@jessicapearson9479 I raised 3 who are now into their 30's. All college grads, all married having their own children and families. Two are business owners, the daughter has a six figure career. They all proudly state they were all raised to be exceptional. They were taught how to use tools like kitchen knives, how to use and respect guns. How to face their fears. They were raised with the goal of being useful, productive members of humanity, leaders. They were great kids growing up and even better adults. Dont really get your mindset. Yet my way works great.

My twin boys are 35 years old now. Ben, you're a good Dad to give them responsibility and teach them good work ethic. It sets them apart. Letting go is hard though!
