this dude played the schism bassline and sang at the same time, nailed both, and they didnt win..tf? that's talent if i ever seen it. i bet some people doing meme shit won
beleive it or not this is probably one of the easiest tool songs to play the bass and sing at the same time, still impressive anyways. (I know you comments old but whatever)
Strange Kitchen Appliances How? Your singing in 9/8, and alternating between all sorts of crazy time signatures on the bass. If any thing, it's probably the hardest.
+Shmergul Flargamish the vocals are almost mimicking the exact pattern of the bass and guitar just less notes or in vocals less syllables, I even find a song as simple as sober harder to play and sing at the same time but when you get into songs like the pot and 46 and 2 and opiate you get into hard to do territory.
Strange Kitchen Appliances, I'm no musician, just the Dad of the singer/bassist. It sounds pretty difficult to me. Keep in mind these guys were 16 at the time. But, I do have a video of him singing and playing on The Pot on my channel as well.
How did you guys not win? Obviously whoever the judges or voters were have never seen this song on a sheet. They'd probably have a stroke. 47 freaking meter changes, man.
beautiful cover im so fcking proud. u never really suspect lyrics like this from music charged with such energy but when u take the time to listen u realize its beautiful and has its place in the world no doubt.
Weeaboo Trashski Thanks! Glad you liked it. Check out more videos of Ryan and friends playing Tool and Primus on my UA-cam page rbbeagan. There's also some cool funk and jazz from some of his other projects.
This is really impressive! Everyone sounds great in terms of skill and representing the original song. Singing this (and sounding good) is NOT easy, let alone playing at the same time. You see a lot of covers and they make you cringe, this was above and beyond my expectations. Great work, keep it up!
I'd like to believe I'm an accomplished guitarist, even at my young age, but I have and forever will refuse to sing and play TooL at the same time. I just can't get in the right mindset if I'm doing both. And you can't pull most of those sweet Maynard moves with a guitar in hand.
I went from listening to this on my phone to listening to it with headphones to plugging it into a speaker to plugging into my guitar amp’s aux lmao. Phenomenal
I wish the quality was better. It was amazing live, and I couldn't see Josh (the drummer). Check out Ryan playing and singing some more Tool, some Primus, and if you're a fan, some Jazz on my channel rbbeagan.
Great job! Also, be proud to continue the tradition of being hands down the best act in a talent show, and losing! lol My band in high school was better than the average high school band playing originals, and we lost to a sock puppet! lol
ErizotDread I'm gonna try and play an original at my school talent show, but since it's heavily inspired by bands such as tool, deftones, and Chevelle, and because I live in a community that is more focused on rap and how pretty you are, I'm most likely going to lose.
Playing the schism bassline while singing isn’t bad if you practice enough, but playing the schism bassline flawlessly for 7 minutes while singing every note perfectly with extraordinary inflection in time with a guitarist and drummer is a major accomplishment I can do the former I cannot do the latter
David Näslund Thanks David! If you liked this, check out more videos of Ryan playing Tool with his friends (same drummer but different guitarist(s). Go to rbbeagan.
I guarantee you there’s at least ONE teacher who knew what you guys did was amazing. Someone had to have just been shaking their head, in utter awe and appreciation.
Jeez Its 2019 I've stumbled upon this video In my venture for tool covers, and from the comments I can tell they didnt win... All I can say is, the fuck man this was almost as good as the original man
impressive, the guitar tone is very close to Adam jones and although singing along to the song is not that hard the first half, the 2nd half of the song is very difficult to sing and play bass at the same time.
@@rbbeagan all of you did i really enjoyed it. i play guitar and ive never been able to make my fave songs sound like the album. y'all pulled it off. I hope y'all won. i dont recognize the town name but im pretty sure no one did that good.
saw this years ago and im seeing this again today in 2024 I still cant fucking believe he sang it PERFECTLY while playing the BASS! Justin would be proud
this dude played the schism bassline and sang at the same time, nailed both, and they didnt win..tf? that's talent if i ever seen it. i bet some people doing meme shit won
Honestly though prolly taken down by the memes
they needed a guitarist so the singer could concentrate.
@@papermushrooms. *bassist but it could be the opposite, they could need a singer.
Damn, to play that bass riff while singing has to be tough.
If you liked this, check out these three performing a Primus song a few weeks ago on my UA-cam page (rbbeagan). They're two years older and better.

The guitarist shaking his head "no the song is not over" when the audience starts applauding mid-song because they probably have never heard Tool
DancesWithBalls lol, exactly what I was thinking.
Hes like: these fucking normies... xD
@@cryax3447 exactly
Lol it's the most tool thing ever.
*audience applauses*
Tool fans: *straps on seatbelt*
The guitar tone was on point

wow, he sounds like maynard when he sings live! impressed
1 person doesn't know that the pieces fit
maybe he just hasnt seen them fall away. we dont know his story, we shouldnt point fingers
Now, 5 pieces fell away.
6 now. bring the pieces back together and rebuild communication
Ah, the days when I wanted to perform Tool at the talent show. Good on them.
can't believe they didn't win, it's obvious the judges don't know anything about music. i'm sure that was the performance that required the most skill
a girl won my talent show back in high school by twerking. but our band was pretty shit so i didn't mind, at least it was a good show
@@reeferrick2635 bro I can already tell the shit band has more talent, that’s just pedophilia in action lmao
brUH they didn't win??????
Omg the bassline AND vocals.. just wow. Speechless.
Best Cover of this song in the entire internet.
This video needs more views and these guys definitely deserve more appreciation

TheButtsworth and then they have the song prison sex...
Amazing vocal work, especially while nailing that fucking bass riff

Nobody talking about he drummer he was on POINT
That was the absolute best cover and best talent show performance i have ever seen.
I always come back and watch this vid cuz these song is so good snd they do an amazing job

Check out this and other Tool covers. Same bassist and drummer. Different guitars.
Passed the goosebumps test. I believed it! Sincere performance.
Great cover! So much energy. Almost perfect instrumental.
They simply nailed it.
Hell yeah, dude! That's was insane.
Dude the vocals are awesome. Almost sounds like Maynard himself
This is pretty good, I got chills!

Completely amazing.
guitarist tone is spot on
I gotta give the man props for sounding a little like Keenan👏
Everything is on point!
Very impressive. I got emotional toward the end as the audience seemed to be mezmorized.
That was an outstanding cover!
I haven't even finished listening and this kid has totally blown me away. Fucking amazing job

awesome vocals, awesome guitar and bass. awesome drumming. Your band is great!
Damnnn put a spotlight on that drummer cus he was killing it!
I learned the bass line and I say it's much harder than it looks
My man over here killing it!!! nice man!! good job!!
Outstanding spiral

Update, they canceled the entire fucking thing.
Basso e voce insieme, complimenti...dannatamente difficile. Bravi
Singer did a good job honestly
I can't believe you didn't win! That's bullshit. Why does it always have to be some pop or some less skilled bullshit
Fantastic cover.
That was badass!
How does this not have more views come on people they still sound fuckin amazing with bad recording. 😱😱👍👍🤘🤘🤯🤯
What fucking performance! Thank you so much..
WOW, amazing cover!! *.*

Good stuff

Holy fuckkkkkkkkkkk
Wow very good
Pretty good, their drummer is doing really well. Had to have practiced their butts off there are 46 time signature changes in schism.
👌
Wow they must of won that
Bot Beast they didn’t some how lol
you guys still together?
They're Seniors in High School and they still play together. After graduation, there's no telling.
+rbbeagan Oh i see. they definitely should. we're in a band out of dodge city ks and always are looking for new bands to put shows together with.
+rbbeagan btw, they did great on this lol.
Not bad!
This songs from Aenima, not Lateralus.
Check again.
+rbbeagan lol I was thinking of stinkfist
No problem. What did you think of it? This was a couple of years ago when they were 16 and had rehearsed just 3 or 4 times.
+rbbeagan it was pretty damn good. I'm 15 and can play this on drums but I don't have a band :(
Colton Hamilton legit same xD
eh
That was amazing!!!

Will do!
i was honestly impressed. me and a few friends are planning on performing this for a talent show but the timing for this song is hell
isn't this in 8/4?
main motif is back and forth between 7 and 5, then it has a bunch of other changes
Ben Young it changes between 4 different signatures over 107 times... I may be thinking of lateralus though...
schism changes time signature 47 times, didnt know lat did that much
Ben Young alright, thank you for correcting me, still a lot though.
I guarantee you there’s at least ONE teacher who knew what you guys did was amazing. Someone had to have just been shaking their head, in utter awe and appreciation.
That bassist is going places
I am in utter disbelief that y’all didn’t win. As a bassist and a tool fan this was a spectacular performance!
same this is nuts
no credit to the drummer lmao
Pedro Guarderas the drummer is Josh Medrano, and he is AWESOME!
@@rbbeagan I can tell. He sound's really good, but I wish I could see him.

What bullshit act was able to win over this
The singer needs to make his own band He is so good!!
Why cant you see the drummer they were hella killing it too!!!!
Yeah, the lighting was pretty dark back there. Josh is a great drummer!
Wow! Seriously so well performed by all three. Very impressed.
impressive, the guitar tone is very close to Adam jones and although singing along to the song is not that hard the first half, the 2nd half of the song is very difficult to sing and play bass at the same time.
I feel like the drummer is being a little bit too gentle, but other than that, honestly If I was on AGT I would vote yes, but Iam biased to tool😂
Good shit keep it goin, new music is hiphop shit, if wasnt for youtube our metal would be lost
I bet whoever won this was an audition of fucking Katie Perry
Solid performance! The singer is the best for live covers I've seen! Drummer never is damned good! (gotta give the drummer some love too)
Way better than I was expecting from a talent show video, holy cow
i keep seeing a head jumping up and down
Yo me too bro!?!!!!!!
