- If you haven't played MGS before or just want to see the epic game again then this video might be for you. In this video you see all the epic mgs moments and story. Experience the classic Metal Gear Solid in 4 hours. All the cutscenes, edited gameplay and more!
Metal Gear Solid follows Solid Snake, a soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from FOXHOUND, a renegade special forces unit. Snake must liberate two hostages, the head of DARPA and the president of a major arms manufacturer, confront the terrorists, and stop them from launching a nuclear strike. - Ігри
The psycho mantis part has to be the greatest 4th wall break ever. Imagine you in the 90s. And he does that to your controller. I was freaked out the first time.
Brian Brison haha yeah, imagine being 11 and alone in the room. Creeped me the fuck out .
screaming mantis was awesome
and then he tells you what games you have played after the system scans the memory car, that made me freak the hell out as a kid though it was way less explainable and more like wow than anything lol
I don't understand why boss fights are like that today.
Too bad he didn't have a Castlevania save file...
This game is better than most Hollywood movies.
Omg you are so right

Wollem and it still remains the best.
Yeah the only thing thats ever come close was nier automata. There is a vibe i had throughout that game that totally took me back to the mystery and intriguing MGS felt watching my dad play. The tone and style of story telling is incredible and so alike in those two games to me
THE best
No matter how old I get , this game will forever be a classic
Absolutely
In olympus of gaming
This game is part or my childhood and now part of my adulthood now that they're remastering it for ps5 I'm excited like a kid on Christmas again
@@tylerbailey470 Wait, only for PS5?
This game was perfect but for god sake meryl should have died. It was far more impactful with her dying. This video could have been great if he had used the death ending instead.
David Hayter's performance in this game is probably his best as Solid Snake.
Yeah man totally...his voice was smooth but with a hint of the snake as we know it. It was not forced, like he was just acting to what was happening around him for the first time very authentic!
Of course it is. He was much younger at the time this game was in development, so for him to put this voice on in 1998 it ran smooth like water.
@Terror
He didn't get lazy, an actor has to take care of their voice; if he kept doing it he might've ruined his voice.
Kojima fired him so he could get a bigger name actor; David was always treated poorly by Kojima.
I always thought it was keifer sutherland
A nearly flawless performance. Until the end. As much as I hate to say it, the ending of this game just blows. From Naomi's bullshit monologue, to Snake immasculation as he became "the new him". Snake's final words were so outside of his character that it can't be ignored
To think:
All these cutscenes, the writing, the voice acting, and the story
All on a damn PS1 !?
This game was waaaaaayyyyyyy ahead of its time. #KojimaTheLegend
It is the best game ever made, if you take everything into account...release date, story, voices, graphics, etc
@@Jomzi01 ehhh the graphics weren't that good but they were alright final fantasy 7 had the best
Mgs1 graphics are way better in my opinion.
SupremeCloud • I respect your opinion about the art, but I have very specific reasons why I disagree. The three drastically different character designs in FFVII between walking around, fight animations, and cutscene/avatar portrait were jarring for me, I preferred the more polished and unified look of MGS and FFVIII, or artistically the colorful designs of FFIX and Chrono Cross were even more appealing if you embraced their clear commitment to fantasy and cartoon.
thats why it was my favorit game on ps1 , and it was mysterious
I used to play this along with my dad when I was a 7 years old. Now I'm 21 and my dad just passed away last year. So many emotions running back to me. I remembered that he can finish MGS 1 and 2 in just a span of 2 hours. This is so nostalgic.

RE1, this, & FF7 each released 1 year apart. PS1 was the real deal.
D00NBU66Y had all 3 of em
Not to mention GTA 1
For me, FFVII, MGS1, and RE2 are like the Mount Rushmore of PS1, in terms of taking games from being a thing for kids, to being a medium for real, mature storytelling.
Snake and Cloud being in Smash feels so wrong, because they are so inextricably linked to PS1 for me.
Gran Turismo was excellent too. But yeah FF7, MGS were the business
wasnt RE1 released in '96?
I wish I could erase my memory of this game and play it again for the first time.
Without doubt the greatest videogame ever
This game is a masterpiece : top notch voice acting, epic storyline, amazing soundtracks. I've watched the movie countless times and I will keep watching it again. I cannot get enough of it. It reminds me humanity can still give birth to talented people, even as of today.
B Doucouret amen
I watch this at least twice a year
I am so grateful this was part of my youth! Watching this in my 30's is still as amazing as a young teenager. This game truly was like watching a really well scripted movie. What a masterpiece this game is!?!?
Well said
You look just like Barstool Nick
I know I never played the game but I’ve watched all these cutscenes and I love it. I just might pick it up now.
BRO YOU LOOK LIKE OTACON
No.
Its crazy...I played this game 100 times back in 1999/2000. I haven't played it since, and looking at this video, its amazing to see how at one time, graphics like this were amazing!
This game is legitimately the most well-made, close-to-perfect game I can think of. From it's story to its gameplay and it's soundtrack to its Voice Acting. It's is positively brilliant, and set the bar for all future games to see how a truly legendary video game is done. Even better, it took it upon itself to teach a very powerful life lesson, and have real world themes that you can apply to your life.
*coff coff* mgs4 *coff coff*
In my opinion,MGS3
All MGS games have a message, and Death Stranding will have a message too.
IamCaptainMan I do have one criticism about the writing though. Almost every line of dialogue is answered with a single word question.
Snake's script is basically "Terrorists?" "Key card?" "Psycho Mantis?"
Sedatus He is supposed to be and always has been an extension of you. He has tons of lines in this game that are phenomenal and the meaning and depth of his dialogue is what makes him one of, if not the best, characters in all of gaming.
Whos in their early 30's watching this in 2019? what a jewel.
Jona well said bro. Im 34 now and i never seen game good like mgs1 before. This is mostly because it was stater of genre.

Me
This game has been in my mind since I was 6 years of age, and that was 20 years ago. Greatest game of all time and will remain an instant classic. Fuck Call of Duty, this is a real action game
I heard that MG was often regarded for it's good story, but my expectations have been blown. This was immensely great.
+The Killjoy i just wish someone would finish that fan made movie mgs:philanthropy but alas Konami got their knickers in a bunch lol.
+The Killjoy Only if it's Fan Made or if Kojima himself was directly involved. Hollywood would most likely screw this up.
+GRIMLOCK07 Yes Hollywood could never be trusted with such an in depth masterpiece, they would want to turn it into a 94 minute action film and shit on the mg reputation. Outside possibility could be an epic hbo tv show similar to game of thrones but still even then i would be wary.
+Patrick o'flanagan I feel that the MGS franchise shouldn't even be considered as a show or movie, just because no-one but Kojima can capture this immense plot in such a perfect way. Any form of show/film would struggle to capture it's perfection.
This is only scratching the surface. You've seen nothing yet haha!
When Snake yells FOOOOOOXXXX, I cried. All that guilt and tragedy to the end. A man burdened and shamed by murder, humanity stripped when turned a ninja... wanting to die.
Dayymmm the feels
Liquid is such a great character. Even Kojima regretted killing him off so quick.
As a kid I honestly thought just getting a glimpse of him on this game was an honour! It took me so long to complete the full game so as I saw him in cutscenes I literally went nuts as if he was exclusive and only a few of us had ever gotten so far in the game to see him 😂 My childhood memories at 8 years old
I wish there was a Liquid spinoff game
Something like
Metal Gear Liquid Chronicles
Hopefully he can bring him back via the arm fused to a clone
"And that's why I live on through this Arm" - Liquid
Liquid ocelot
Loved the revolver ocelot flashbacks and how you actually showed the controller move. This is the best edit of the game into a movie I’ve seen
"You're pretty good! Just what I'd expect from the man with the same code as the Boss."
Back then we thought he was talking about Liquid Snake. But no, he meant Big Boss: Naked Snake.
I don't care if it was intended that way to begin with or if it was just retconned in to be that way but that context for it just gets me right in the heart.
Infiltrates top secret facility... Leaves swimming gear in the elevator. Classic Snake.
Like his father before him
I literally never thought of that as a kid. I’m 32 now. WTF
Lol
@@distantsea Wasn't Naked Snake the one who threw away a helmet that said "US"?
After I noticed that in 1998 i quit playing the game and refused to beat it. Paid $50 for it at blockbuster i was mad

Such amazing casts. Truly legendary!
That Pizza Hut demo almost 20 years ago really changed my life
nick quiroz. ditto
pizza hut was promoting the game? :D
All my life I've been wondering where that demo disc came from. Good days
nick quiroz 💯💯💯💯💯
nick quiroz I definitely remember that. after I played that demo I got from Pizza Hut. I begged my mother to take me to the game store
I always felt like this was the best Metal Gear Solid game out of all of them...
Even over 3?
3 was cool too. Snake Eater was something completely different because that's where it was more open world. Killing animals to stay alive and fixing up yourself when you got injured. Then being able to change into different colored uniforms for camouflage. But it's just something about the 1st one. I was introduced to that game back in '98-'99 when I was about 6 or 7 years old then. I played the demo when it was in japanese lol. I thought Snake's gear was cool, the music was cool. I guess because I was introduced to it at a young age, it holds a special place in my heart. Like it's really a part of my childhood. The nostalgia just makes me love it even more because of it being on the first Playstation...
Shayana Griffin I can get behind that sometimes the first of anything will always be everyone's favorite personally MGS3 is my favorite (metalgear solid was my first) but once Phantom Pain comes out I'm 100 % sure that will take that spot quickly
Shayana Griffin Even though 2, 3, and 4 all built upon each previous game, I felt like they got a little bit full of themselves. MGS was just the right amount of ridiculousness for me
Shayana Griffin take off those nostalgia goggles this game is objectively shit. the controls and graphics are terrible not to mention sloppy game mechanics. game does NOT hold up at all.
My favorite thing about MGS games is how they're totally able to just be watched like movies like this if you want.
Greatest game ever made. Story is incredible. Solid snake is my favourite game character ever
I forget what a flirty bastard Snake was in this game lol
Same, its pretty funny though.
It's interesting seeing this Snake, and then seeing the Snake he became later in life.
@@silverpslm that age failsafe really matured him didnt it.
He went from stereotypical action star to mentor/boss to old man Hitman.
I’m not a huge fan of this version of Snake. In this game has a few too many cheesy lines, he’s more pouty, and Hayter hasn’t really figured out how to nail his Snake voice yet. It doesn’t help I never played this game (I’m an Xbox guy), but I also never played 4 personally and I love that story and Hayter’s portrayal.
probably the best story ever created in a video game. still my fav of the series. not over complicated but still absolutely incredible
This and the Legacy of Kain games, especially the story arc that was narrated in the Soul Reaver games - which were heavily inspired by Milton's Paradise Lost - are amongst the very best stories I have experienced through the medium of video games. Though I personaly prefer MGS 2's story over the first's for the higher degree of interpretation it has to offer.
Snake would be a really annoying friend to hang out with
"Hey Snake, do you want a sandwich or something?"
"Sandwich?"
HB MK sandwich? What do you mean?! Who are you working for!!?
More like "Hey Snake, want to go see a movie?"
He stops and presses his codec "Colonel, which movie should we see?"
KHayes666 for 1h
@@ReflectionOfPerfection more like;
"Hey Snake, you want a sandwich?"
Snake: "METAL GEAR!?!?!?"
No wonder his only friend is an equally as weird dude.
Still my favourite game ever. Masterpiece. I remember renting it for 5 days, in which time I completed it. The day I took the game back, I purchased it, went home and played it again and again. Best game ever imo.
Kojima is a genius! I never get tired of this video. The intro! The Music! The story telling! The voices! An amazing and thrilling story What more can you ask?!?
Part of me wishes they had never made sequels. The open ending of the story is just perfect. As a kid I always imagined Snake finally lived a life of peace, sipped coffee while his dogs ate, went and visited Campbell every once in a while, and grew old in a world that was never threatened by nuclear annihilation again. Every time I hear The Best is Yet to Come, I think of that. . .
Sucks tho that snake doesnt have a happy ending
Roxurface It's really something to think about how perfectly the story would have neatly wrapped up after this game in comparison to how convoluted and ridiculous the story became in the subsequent games. I prefer Meryl and Snake riding off into the sunset as the ending I'd have liked to see for the Solid Snake saga. They could have continued the series with the Big Boss saga only and it would have still been great.
Roxurface That's adorable. ( ^ _ ^ )
Roxurface It was meant to be so...
Roxurface
Tempted to agree. Snake never recaptured those intense moments and scenes that exist in MGS1 - Though I'll admit rushing down to buy MGS2 on release day... most of my excitement was crushed after I finished the Tanker 'section'... and goldilocks stepped in.
Also, The Best is Yet to Come is a personal song of mine. It's beautiful.(even more-so personal as I speak Irish.)
I remember playing this back in 1998... Games these days can learn a lot from the games of old. We're missing the story development we used to get.
They sacrifice gameplay and story for graphics and revenue
I miss blowing through stuff in a week. Miss games like that.
Never put profit over quality is my moto
MGS1 and MGS3 are the best games i have ever played, i grew with this series since i was a kid aged 10 to today 28. I hold this series to the day i die. 1 and 3 have epic storys, memorable characters, graphics, voice acting etc. Both are really fun to play as well as great as stand only stories. Thank you kojima for making my life and childhood so special.
MGS2 is a jewel as well
Ameen!
2 is more profound than 3.
I respect your opinion completely. I just think 2 really has aged much better than when it was first released. Four is definitely has its flaws but it's not a bad game by any means in my opinion.
It's amazing. You have to have grown up with this game to appreciate it the way it looks. Any kid now probably thinks oh this looks bad. You just don't understand this is beautiful.
Andrew Jaramillo so true... these games were my childhood... and hold a very special place in my heart
If you start any person early enough any media can have a large impact on a person's life. Think of all the music or movies your parents loved to their dying breath and how even though you didn't experience them first-hand, they still played a powerful role in your life. If you don't have that kind of dynamic to feed off of, though, it obviously will be harder to appreciate dated media, but I know plenty of folk who purposefully sought out dated material as children because they wanted to know where the ideas originated and what made them great to begin with even without their parents' help. Don't discount youths just because you don't know how to relate to them.
It all depends on what you’re comparing it to, and leaving the subjectivity out of it. Story-wise it is great though.
Yea if you were born after 2000 this game probably looks like shit. No context to know this is one of the greatest video games ever created
Again, I’m born before 2000 and I think this game looks “like shit”, so that factor is irrelevant because now there are games that look immensely better, and we are looking at this game now, in 2019. But as I said, it all depends on what you’re comparing it to.
I just finished playing this game last week for the first time.
*And holy shit, what a masterpiece this game is.*

Owen Ambrose bro?
This is no doubt the best game ever. The story line is truly unmatched. I played this in 1999 back in high school fond memories.
Downloaded this to my phone and listened to it at work. Was playing each scenario in my head as it was happening. It made work awesome so thank you.
THE 2 greatest moments in my gaming life:
1. Playing this game when I was 8 years old. I literally changed the moment I beat this game; sitting speechless and listening to The Best is Yet to Come. It blew me away. I started sneaking around my house and school avoiding my parents and teachers with an imaginary socom in my hands. It changed how I thought about games, war, nuclear proliferation, government, and myself. I even took the ASVAB in high school before my mom begged me not to join the military. I pretended to listen to her, but really was just remembering Snake and Meryl's words about killing and war.
2. Seeing MGS2 for the first time. The excitement alone upon seeing the updated graphics...oh, god. It was around this time that games were just beginning to be taken seriously. Back when EB games was still Electronics Boutique and had non-game inventory and female gamers were almost unheard of.
There wasn't much to gaming before this in terms of innovation, story-telling, and development; one of the first to introduce polygon models, an OST, and a deep story with compelling gameplay. Metal Gear Solid is the reference point.
Andrew C I used to get a couple friends in the neighborhood with our plastic toy guns, and we would play out Metal gear solid-like missions lmao it was great. Feels like a century ago
I played this for years every single day as a kid it was a obsession
There were both games with both polygon models and story telling on the SNES (and story and “innovation” on the Genesis too). But it’s true that the CD format was the first to be able to contain full voice acting, and a soundtrack that wasn’t Midi Chip-tunes, and I think the audio did a LOT to sell the emotional weight of this game.
Edit: While the above is true, I also think that this game was way ahead of anything else of its time. This is the only reason I consider getting the PS Classic.
I’m glad I got to watch this “movie” all these years later. I’m about your age (MGS2 came out my freshman year of high school), but I skipped owning the PSX generation because the graphics bugged me and distracted me from immersion. Still, I was also into espionage, I think a lot of our generation was, and I would grill my gamer friend on the way home from school for a detailed regaling of what happened in the game. It was fun!
GHOSTBOY GAMING • Same! Funny that it was over two decades ago, feeling both a long time ago and not so long.
You ever worry we are changing socially as a species due to digital entertainment and the internet? I feel like there was a time where we felt it would be “bad” to say aloud a lot of things we were comfortable enough saying behind the anonymity of the Internet, but now I see the post-9/11 kids saying the most outrageous things to our faces. Also, I’m afraid my boredom, nighttime addiction to digital entertainment, and finally insomnia is going to lead to early onset dementia or something.
... Er, I still think this is a really cool game.
Damn when metal gear came out on ps2 it was so fuckin sick I was in like 6th 7th grade
I'm 40 years old. I am lucky enough to have grown up during the time of MGS's evolution. I remember my first time playing MGS and literally getting scared when I was told to turn the game off. I remember literally shedding tears of manliness many times because I was so immersed. Even just watching the ending of MGS 3, I can't help getting choked up... Hideo Kojima could not have done a better job... That man was/is a genius. I truly wish I could go back in time and play the MGS series for the first time again. Out of the thousands of games I have played and mastered, I have NEVER been so invested in a game. RIP, MGS. In my opinion, this is easily the best game series to have ever been made.
I'm doing a playthrough right now. Honestly its doubly rewarding. You know where you are more because you get the timeline and you probably forgot half the stuff that happened anyway. Games are fun to start out all antiquated and see new mechanics be added and taken away. It's not just fun for the story it's fun to see how games themselves have evolved as well.
P.S. 4 always gets me (spoiler) when Eva jumps in the fire for big boss and you get confirmation that she really did love him for the first time. That's a good moment it kills me. Lol.
I started early. I shed my first tears of manliness at the age of 7 when I witnessed 1st hand the evil soulless greed of corporations when they slaughtered the leader / father figure of the autobots (1986 transformers movie in theaters) just to sell more toys / make a profit.
Will forever stand as one of the best games ever made. Story driven, good game play, challenge, great story and amazing characters.

“The genome soldiers have an advanced sense of hearing and vision...”
Genome soldiers only can see 15 feet in front of them.
I mean, compared to enemies in every other game from that time period, they did.
The only other game I can think of from that time period that had enemies who even acknowledge the existence of the character was Spyro the Dragon. In all the other games back then the enemies were super dumb, either blindly walking a patrol route or having incredibly simple strategies like "if you see the player, either charge towards him, or stand there and shoot at him". They didn't notice things like sounds or footprints. They didn't work together to try and kill you.
If you tried to play MGS the way you would have played something like Medal of Honor or Tomb Raider, the enemies destroyed you every time. It took us a while as kids to figure out that trying to fight everything you saw like you did in other games wasn't the way to play MGS. After we spent many hours playing and mastering MGS, all the other games felt sort of hollow by comparison.

This game made me fall in love with Video games when i was a child. I first played the game in April 1999. I was 6 years old. My brother got given this for his birthday. We were both instantly drawn under its spell. Even with my limited understanding as a child. I knew how ahead of its time this game was. As much as I loved the game. It scared the living hell out of me. The 'DARPA Chiefs' death in particular. (the stuff of nightmares when you're a kid. Don't even mention his lifeless, rotting corpse in the cell..) every year since the inception of first playing the game. I've played it at least once a year, to this very day. Everything from the tone, the setting, the music, the characters. The story. I could go on how much the game means to me. Would love to know other people's experiences with the game!

VanMedia We got a high minded individual over here. Watch out!
I agree with you on the story--and the level designs are quite bland. But the gameplay itself is really good. Stealth is brilliant, better than most stealth-based games, and to be honest, the mother-base function, albeit bland, is still quite good. MGSV is not perfect, and is the final product of a half-made game, but it could have been great. They got like 50% of it right, and the other was just left out.

+Boris Jevrić i still remember how my mind was blown when i finally realized he was talking about the game case. it may seem ridiculous today but it was really immersive, in the sense that you had to check an item in real life ^^
no no don't get me wrong, i love the stuff Kojima does where it involves real life actions haha, i just found this really funny. And yeah i can imagine myself getting confused if i played this back in 98 :D
+Boris Jevrić I was stuck on that bit for weeks! pissed me of so much till i saw the back of the game box lol
Then if you got it without a case... Let's just say you had to borrow a case.
+The Friendly Heavy I played this game on the HD Collection, so I had no clue what they were talking about, lol. I had to look it up on a walkthrough to figure out they meant the game cover... for the original game.
As someone with genetic disabilities, the scenes between Solid Snake and his adversaries is so deep with emotion and philosophy that I can’t help shed a tear.
Metal Gear Solid - One of the BEST games ever made.
Bigga We GoT fOrTnite
...Man, when you finally piece together this series' entire timeline of events you end up with one of the most over the top stories in gaming spanning half century's worth of utter insane badassery!
“I've used a gun like this since I was 8. I'm more comfortable with it than I am with a bra. " (takes mag out of a bra)
Ironic, ain't it...
I think she took it out of her top, not Bra.
@@filipeflower Out of her top? Where would she put it in her top, it doesn't look like it had any pockets
I wish I'd played this when I was younger. This game is so cool even 25 years later. Need a remaster!
The "Twin Snakes" version that came out on Gamecube years after... lets just say it kinda ruins what made the OG special. All the cutscenes are stupidly exaggerated to even cartoony-levels, and they added the first-person shooting mechanic from the 2nd game, that completely breaks the gameplay in a bad way. Some bosses become trivial, and since the environment wasnt designed with aiming in first-person, or hell, hanging from ledges, you can breeze through while completely avoiding entire parts of the game. The collection that just came out seems to be alright at least, but it was mediocre to a lot of fans. No matter how hard even Kojima tries, he'll never be able to re-capture what made this game so great, and maybe, thats what makes it so special.
Remake*. This game has gotten plenty of remasters.
i hold this series so close to my heart! even though we'll probably never see a true metal gear game ever again, i hope people still continue to play and love this series.
I can still remember crying several times throughout the gameplay.
I know. I wish i would've beat it lol. I mean i still can
Well
Never get tired of this game, absolutely fantastic. Still in my opinion the best game ever. Story line, voice overs .. and the amazing music throughout. 10/10. Brings back many happy memories.
Yes one of them
Probably the best game ever made...
Imagine if your watching this on your cell phone and psycho mantis made your phone vibrate
This game will always pull that nostalgia feeling. Such a great game.
Kojima said that Death Stranding will be his best work yet. It's got some tough competition.
Michael Biland I'd love to be proven wrong, but I can't see Kojima topping this masterpiece.
@@garymitrovic2503 I mean then again death stranding is going to be Kojima unhinged since you know he doesn't have Konami holding him back like they did
Commando 723 they only held him back on the later games. He will never top this masterpiece.
Cj 327 not true IMO. This game was a masterpiece specifically because kojima was held back. He was a large member of a bigger team. This was before MGS was a “kojima” game.
Kojima is better when he’s held back. MGS 4 and 5 are his brainchildren and they are the worst of the entire series
@@michaelthompson7217 I'm with you on V, but 4? That game was amazing, the series should have ended there
My all time favorite game...This game is a golden masterpiece
I am born 89, and i was in the room with my older brother. The scenes when Meryl is shot by Sniper Wolf, that was one of my biggest Character developments in life. I remember how i thought about what happened to snake. Wow. Just goosebumps watching it again. Thank you.
I laugh everytime -
Snake"what frequency is she on"
Baker "i forgot",
snake "dammit"
Baker "Oh right!! it must be on the back of the cd case"
For anybody who reads this and did it know what this CD case I was mind blown when I 1st found out
That is pure genius.
I was like 8yo n thought he was talking abt the CD case Baker just gave you, full bs, the optical disk¿ idk. I just rang every number on the codec I think 180:15/181:15
31:00 thats the time stamp fir tbe reference you made.. In the future please stamp your references so we can jump to it and laugh with you.. Lol
I stopped playing for a month until a friend at school told me the frequency!!
The scene where Otacon asks Snake what they're fighting for will always be a personal favorite.
If we make it out of here I’ll tell you
It’s really amazing to see that this game is still good even after all these years.
31:00 Ken Baker: "It should be on the back of the CD case"

It took me forever to get it
@@rc5924 ditto. it took me fucking forever to crack that! My brother and I NEVER got it when we got to the part we Saved Baker. Fuckin 4th wall breakin XD
Lol love it
Believe it or not, Blockbuster put the code on the back of the box for Twin Snakes (the GC remake). I imagine people must have called in to complain about it.
😂😂😂😂
if it wasn't for Pizza Hut and it's demo i would've never witnessed such beauty in this franchise..
"Ah, this pizza's bringing me back, to my days in New York!..."
I still have my Pizza Hut Demo Disc. It's scratched to high heaven but it's still there :)
I had that demo and it made me so hooked that it was one of the very few things I asked my parents to buy me. I didn’t have a memory card though, so I had to beat it on a no death run. Good times. Somehow, that was the peak of my gaming ability and I’m nowhere near that good now. I was 10 bro. Good times 😂
Same! I was introduced to so many PlayStation games thanks to Pizza Hut. It was marketing done amazingly well
Opm Always you people were so lucky.
Sniper Wolf's death always gets to me.
1:48:33 Nice that you including scenes from Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater when Ocelot was telling Solid Snake about his past.
+Shephard, Corporal this was released in 2013. idk how they got that footage.

I remember going to my grandmother's with my PS1 and playing this in her back room for hours I was like 9 so it was really hard for me to get past some levels but the nostalgia is emence for me...I beat this game around 18 years old bought a ps1 this game and syphon filter....and here I am at 30 watching cutscenes of this game for the 35th time.....SNAKE! I still got a game and I played on my PS3
You got a PS1? Good! You can use that to stop Liquid!
1:26:55 Meryl: Snake. What's wrong? I thought you were good with dogs.
1:27:50 *After getting shot* Snake: Meryl, what's wrong? I thought you weren't a rookie.
I shouldn't have laughed as hard as i did.
The wolves didn't howl for her that day.
One of the most beautiful games ever made. The acting, the gameplay, the melding of movie like makings and video game interaction. 😢😢😢 i swear i love this game so much! so so much.
bruce cueva yes
I remember when my friend and I played through this whole game in one sitting one day. We were blown away by how good the story line was and how great the was overall. This game NEEDS to be remastered.
Its a classic
People don't know how Iconic at the time this game was on Playstation 1. There was nothing like it before.
This MetalGear was truly a Great Movie within a Great Game and won so many rewards it's unbelievable.
The Legend of Zelda on Nintendo 64 came out around the same time and was also Iconic

In what part of MGS Snake kills Big Boss ?is it Peace Walker?
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake Final Boss
First game ending that ever gave me pure chills with the last line: "Yes, thank you, goodbye.......Mr. President "
Can you imagine this game running on the Fox Engine? It would be epic!!!
My thoughts exactly which is why I'm a huge proponent of next gen remakes of both Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2. Solid Snake in his prime running on the Fox Engine? Pure heaven.
Not interested. The original is perfect.
But a remake of MS and MS2 - sure
+johnabc420 MS? You mean MG?
Marco Bott Yeah. I must have been tired
+johnabc420 And then we'd get Hayter and Sutherland.
At least we hope we do, that would be badass.

31:10 "It should be on the back of the CD case"
One of the best anti-piracy measures of that time.
Blockbuster put it on the back of their box. It was typed in- between all the small print on the back.
Personally thought I was screwed at the time and picked up the box with little hope.
I don't know if Konami made that happen or Blockbuster was paying attention, but it was there.
Lets just say if I were to sell the game to a resale shop to be resold but I didn't have the original game case, I would BEG the owner to put in a slip of paper in their "typical used game case" with the writing on it saying "Meryl's number is 140.15" that way future owners of that game wouldn't get stuck
I had the actual game but was a proper dumbass lol. I kept searching every damn room in the facilities because I thought I didn't pick up the 'in-game' item CD. I kept thinking I had missed an item pick up somewhere. Especially when a lot of PS1 games like RE punished me severely for not checking everywhere thoroughly. Didn't think to literally check the back of the PS1 cd case for ages on end.
@@skycloud4802 Snake had a CD in his possession, so I kept trying "examine" it to no avail. Fun times.

It's hillarious knowing Decoy messed up when he didn't recognize Snake's face. But no one knew who Donald truly was yet.

he was pretending to be the chief (he wouldn't know), he was literally waiting for the guy that looks like his boss, don't be dense
@@HopeyDiamond Yeah that's my point. Donald Anderson is AKA Sigit from MGS 3. He worked with Naked Snake. So I found it funny because our first clue to realizing it isn't him is when he doesn't recognize who Snake is. Technically he is his superior since he is a Patriot.
I didn’t have a memory card as a kid so I played this over and over and over until I finally got to the end. One of my favorite video games I’ve ever played, I like meeting people and find out they played it!
As an adult I was honestly sad because this game was going to be a memory that I’d eventually forget most of. The fact this and the others are on UA-cam just blow my mind. Thank you so much!!!

Even The Psycho Mantis Battle
My god that was beautiful. Having played only Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain, they have so much more depth and meaning to them now. All the hidden clues and nuances... that's incredible.
What a fantastic series.
+MedikPac I started with 4 some years ago (I was completely lost, but it still became my second favorite PS3 game) and I felt the same way after watching 1 and playing 2. I never got around to playing 3, but since getting Ground Zeroes for Christmas I am determined to play 3 and Peace Walker before getting The Phantom Pain - as much as I want to play it right now ...and then I will play 2 and 4 again to get the full saga in one go. If you can, definitely get the HD collection and MGS4.
+MedikPac "Hey Mantis, remember when we were kids and stole a Metal Gear?"
"Sure boss."
"I'm feeling nostalgic. Let's do it again."
+Beatstruck 3 is absolutely fantastic. If you've already played it, by now you obviously know.
+Beatstruck You're not missing much if you haven't played 3.
+MedikPac I know exactly whatca mean I recently started playing metal gear rising revengeance and then ground zero, and I felt so lost not knowing the characters and the messages, it feels good I can come back and rewatch this and experience it form the start.
So well edited and put together... the extra effort is appreciated
