I do, but if film adaptations of video games of the past are anything to go on, then pigs will sooner fly than they'd adapt a video game plot. Unfortunately they're more likely to just mash together some non-canon script that nicks tropes from all the games. If I had it my way, I'd produce a big budget TV series, maybe a netflix original, beginning with Snake Eater and ending with GOTP. Each game would occupy a season, like GoT did with the novels. They did a similar thing for the graphic novels (which span MGS1-MGS2, which was the inspiration for the digital novels), so they could do the same for the whole series. Ah, dreams are free!
Any film adaptation of MGS would be utterly redundant, not to mention that having its events play out on a movie screen would highlight all of the films it pays homage to (or 'Rips Off', if ya wanna be snarky about it haha) in a much more negative fashion than it does experiencing those all tributes (Escape From NY, et al) a playable game

If he reports in you have to choose the best info to give him for his current situation. Anyone know of anything like this?

Wow, I love the way Snake circumvents the whole of the PAL shenanigans by going "Oh, look. Two pipes with hot steam and cool liquid nitrogen built into the room. Imagine the backtracking I would have had to have done if that wasn't there ."
Apparently alot of people are ignorant to ashley woods talent. The novel was superb and the art is meant to be expressive. Do you know how fast this guy paints!? In oil id like for anyone of you to attempt to paint anything remotely as good and be world renowned
***** Look out, we got a tuff guy over here. Listen, this is good but it not as good as the game itself. That doesn't mean that this is bad. And that gives you no right to call us idiots for liking it.
This graphic novel was clearly made on a tight deadline considering how bare-bones the characters look in several shots and the fact that several of the panels are blatant screenshots of the game with filters put on. Ashley Wood's work on the cutscenes for Portable Ops and Peace Walker showcase his talents a lot better. Though you could probably view the two digital graphic novels as prototypes for how the cutscenes would work in the PSP games.
Unlike the MGS2 Comic this comic actually has decent changes work for the better like combining both the bad ending and the good ending. The only real flaw I have is that I prefer the artwork in the second graphic novel over this one. I don’t know, the ink sketch drawings of the second one just do it for me more then the painted looking artwork here. Another problem I have with this artwork is the photorealistic designs at points, like this one with Mei Ling 12:29. It just screams uncanny valley.
I appreciated a lot of the extra scenes, especially Sniper Wolf's extra scenes, seeing more of her and Otacon's relationship is the best part about this. The Psycho Mantis fight was also nice ill, the only thing i disliked about this was the change of the ending with Solid and Liquid saying "Fox Die", that's classic and shouldn't have been changed at all.
I love how everyone dunks on Ocelot in this. XD This graphic novel is awesome, albeit slightly different from the original game. The added dialogue is killer.
nice end, in the game u have 2 different final stories, one is with meryl alive and the other is with otacon, here we got the 2 of them together in the end
one crippling fact that makes this automatically non canon is that miller has his arm and foot in the illusion. since hes a cripple, and solid has met him before, this should have been a tipoff that this wasnt real. but since he didnt, it means up until this comic, miller being a cripple was still conceived.
The only characters that were ruined by a change of voice actors was Grey Fox. I implore any watcher/listener unfamiliar with the original to look up actual game cutscenes of Gray Fox.
Yeah greg Eagles I liked the best personally. but I gotta agree with you man. I am looking at it from the perspective of someone who hasn't played the game and felt all text feelings it gives you, then seeing this. it wouldn't be the same but I did like it overall. the end felt weird. i did like how psycho mantis got me even I was like what the hell? that was cool!
Jordan Vogt-Roberts, definitely needs to look at: - Replaying, "Metal Gear Solid" And getting to know every aspect of the story and game very well. - Reviewing the, "Game Script of Metal Gear Solid" to see just how in depth and detail he needs to be with the script. - Work with Hideo Kojima himself to get advice on how to have a complete idea of how to handle the story. - Review, "Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel (HD Legacy Version)" to have an idea of how the story would be like in a theratrical form instead of in the form of a video game. - Review, "MGS Philanthropy - Part 1 & 2" on UA-cam to have an idea of what the movie representation should be like. If he does all of these things and does them correctly, he will go down in history as THE great director who brought a video game to life into film done RIGHT!
So since the inevitable Hollywood adaptation will happen sooner or later, it would at least be somewhat comforting if they followed this. All the changes to the story, I thought worked for storytelling purposes since it wasn't interacting with the audience like the original game. My only gripe with the changes was the final hand to hand fight between The Twin Snakes should have been slightly more drawn out.
This is super goofy and the art and voice acting get a little hinky at times, but the extra scenes of the zany villians bitching at each other are great. I'd love to see a preMGS1 something (comic, game where you play as Meryl and eventually get captured, etc) about the takeover of Shadow Moses.
1:03:04 i will admit, this is the darkest we have ever seen from Psycho Mantis. Yes, the original game and the Twin Snakes show the same scenario, Mantis forcing Meryl to put her desert eagle to her head, but the imagery and tone shown in the DGN is very fucking dark, especially when Mantis does force Meryl to pull the trigger while Snake watches in horror.
This was really enjoyable. I've been playing through the Metal Gear games again for the first time in years. I'm appreciating them even more now I'm older.
Me too, Ive played when I was 15, just finished again in my 39 y.o. Lot more fun than the first time, bc now I had time to explore the whole scenarios, etc.
No, biomechanics, like fake big bosses arm and raidens replacement limbs and liquids arm on ocelot, how I think is that after mgsv, fake big boss became violent and miller after realizing his own methods for revenge against skull face are wrong, he left fake big boss and joined real big boss, got replacement limbs and trained snake
This was a pretty good adaptation but holy hell did they do Grey Fox dirty. His voice acting lacks the haunting, traumatized tone of both Greg Eagles' and Rob Paulsen's performances, all of his best lines either got mangled ("A cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal!") or cut entirely (seriously, they cut his "We're not tools of the government" speech that was so iconic that it was referenced again in MGS2?), AND they changed that Snake deliberately withheld that Fox killed Naomi's parents to her just so she could love him as how she saw him instead of who he really was.
I really Snake's voice from time to time in this one. The gruffness sounds more natural than in Peace Walker. I still prefer the original MGS1 voice though, that was by far the best.
This is better than any movie I've seen in a theatre! Shxt is just amazing visually. What an a great story and this method... I had no idea digital graphic novels were so captivating. I'm about to watch pt. 2
I love that since they were only doing MGS1&2, they snuck in some Snake Eater stuff into these guys like Psycho Mantis showing Snake everyone he's killed, or Ocelot being possessed by Liquid in part because of his powers inherited by The Sorrow.
correct order to play or watch :] 1964 - Snake Eater 1970 - Portable Ops 1974 - Peace Walker 1975 - Ground Zeroes 1984 - The Phantom Pain 1995 - Metal Gear 1999 - Solid Snake 2005 - Metal Gear Solid 2007/09 - Sons of Liberty 2014 - Guns of the Patriots 2016/18 - Rising:
CrystalMovies UK After the first Metal Gear and the timeline would end there. Also, since the story is a bit different, 3, Portable Ops, Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes, and Phantom Pain probably wouldn't have happened.
***** To say that someone isn't a MG fan just because they have a different preference on how they enjoy the franchise makes you look like an elitist ass, I can never understand this elitist mentality that people always have to act like dicks when someone says something that doesn't completely fit in with their opnion, can't people just be happy knowing that other people enjoy something that you do, and respect the fact that while other people enjoy something you do that they may find it more enjoyable to them if they do things their own way?
No, he is actually right. The games build off eachother in release order. Meaning jokes, recurring concepts, details that are rewarding to see if you payed attention etc. playing in release order is objectively better than playing in chronological order, also because you don't have to go back and forth between outdated gameplay, graphics etc and modern ones.
Press the circle button repeatedly to regain your strength. When you've had enough, press the select button to submit. When your life reaches zero the game is over! there are no continues my friend
I’m pretty surprised that they re-recorded all the lines for this dub. Although, I guess it would make sense, so the new voice acting would be consistent all throughout
“Never corner a fox” is so meek compared to “A cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal!” I get they probably changed it because they cut Liquid’s lines setting up that line for brevity.
I miss the OG voice actor, it really made him sound badass and menacing with that voice. Now he sounds like your average 17 year old fanfic main character. And now I just cringe every time he says anything.
Wow. Just..wow; I really enjoyed this. I have this in the legacy collection, but I decided to listen to it for the purpose of listening to it at work. While it may be lacking in some respects, I think the pacing is better then the original game: moreover the new scenes they've added were integrated well into the plot, and were very good in their own right. All in all a good retelling of the Metal Gear story, and a proof in my mind that Metal Gear needs a (good) movie adaptation someday soon. :)
+John Constantine And that's fair. :) the game as a whole is much better then the graphic novel, and should definitely be experienced first. This is more like a movie then anything else, and while that's great and all, misses out on the other half of the metal gear experience; the gameplay. So yeah, I get why you don't like this as much. :)
The biggest thing it falls apart on is the villain deaths. They're so much shorter that they're kinda boring. Another 20 minutes would put it at the maximum allowed theater length, and those extra minutes could be used to flesh out the villains more.

Wow, I love the way Snake circumvents the whole of the PAL shenanigans by going "Oh, look. Two pipes with hot steam and cool liquid nitrogen built into the room. Imagine the backtracking I would have had to have done if that wasn't there ."
That's actually how it played out on _The Twin Snakes_ , if not how it can play out.
Holy crap in this entire operation snake managed to grow a manly beard and it hasn’t even been a full day lol what a MAN
Apparently alot of people are ignorant to ashley woods talent.
I loved these comics when they were on shelves, I thought the art was beautiful
This graphic novel was clearly made on a tight deadline considering how bare-bones the characters look in several shots and the fact that several of the panels are blatant screenshots of the game with filters put on.
Ashley Wood's work on the cutscenes for Portable Ops and Peace Walker showcase his talents a lot better. Though you could probably view the two digital graphic novels as prototypes for how the cutscenes would work in the PSP games.
Look at 27:30 and tell me with a straight face that this looks good
Man i love wolf's expression at 1:23:13 , it just seems pure and touching
Man, Psycho Mantis really shines in the comics
Unlike the MGS2 Comic this comic actually has decent changes work for the better like combining both the bad ending and the good ending. The only real flaw I have is that I prefer the artwork in the second graphic novel over this one. I don’t know, the ink sketch drawings of the second one just do it for me more then the painted looking artwork here. Another problem I have with this artwork is the photorealistic designs at points, like this one with Mei Ling 12:29. It just screams uncanny valley.
kinda has to do that certain panels are quite literally scenes from twin snakes with a filter, like the one with ocelot at 20:38
I appreciated a lot of the extra scenes, especially Sniper Wolf's extra scenes, seeing more of her and Otacon's relationship is the best part about this. The Psycho Mantis fight was also nice ill, the only thing i disliked about this was the change of the ending with Solid and Liquid saying "Fox Die", that's classic and shouldn't have been changed at all.
I love these six members of FOXHOUND Liquid Snake, Revolver Ocelot, Psycho Mantis, Sniper Wolf, Decoy Octopus, and my favorite Vulcan Raven.
Definitely the most interesting lineup of bosses in the series. I feel like I'm invested in their characters more than the others
OK that mantis scene was was amazing
54:39 "women ☕"
- Solid Snake, 2005
actually its 2005
Ha ha ha
1:32:40 lol Liquid and Raven both call Ocelot a little girl and Ocelot is like how dare you.. that was funny.
Who gives a damn if some of the other voice acting is off, David is freaking spot on. Solid Snake rocks!
He sounds like Peace Walker Big Boss...He sounds a lot older, almost Old Snake-ish
No, he's not. He's waaay fucking off most of the time.
He also sounds like his old version in MGS4
Thanks a lot for posting this!!! I have the comic book version but always wanted to see its digital version! :)
one crippling fact that makes this automatically non canon is that miller has his arm and foot in the illusion. since hes a cripple, and solid has met him before, this should have been a tipoff that this wasnt real. but since he didnt, it means up until this comic, miller being a cripple was still conceived.
The only characters that were ruined by a change of voice actors was Grey Fox.
I implore any watcher/listener unfamiliar with the original to look up actual game cutscenes of Gray Fox.
the original cyborg ninja voice was freaking iconic, in this he just sounds like some generic guy
John Araujo He sounds way too Fucking young, Rob And Greg did one hell of a better job.
John Araujo Kinda reminds me of mgs4 raiden
That was Larc Spies who did that generic voice.
It's the same guy who voiced Young Ocelot in MGS3
1:11:59 If only he would had said this in the games, but what if this line makes it to the movie?
Jordan Vogt-Roberts, definitely needs to look at:
- Replaying, "Metal Gear Solid" And getting to know every aspect of the story and game very well.
- Reviewing the, "Game Script of Metal Gear Solid" to see just how in depth and detail he needs to be with the script.
- Work with Hideo Kojima himself to get advice on how to have a complete idea of how to handle the story.
- Review, "Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel (HD Legacy Version)" to have an idea of how the story would be like in
a theratrical form instead of in the form of a video game.
- Review, "MGS Philanthropy - Part 1 & 2" on UA-cam to have an idea of what the movie representation should be like.
If he does all of these things and does them correctly, he will go down in history as THE great director who brought a video game to life into film done RIGHT!
PowerL1N3 you’re right, but philanthropy part 2 is sadly only a trailer.
Wait, they cut Liquid's monologue about Jackals?
That's one of the best parts of the game. :(
A lot of stuff got abridged in this it seems. That, and the rather distracting TTS style voice acting...
@@sulphurous2656 This sounds nothing like Twin Snakes.
huh, that temperature piping might have been a nice shortcut for the card key in the game.
1:57:15
"It's no good... I can't do it!"
NOPE!
The same voice actor who played as Null in Port Ops in also in this too. Love that continuity ..
Just imagine if Yoji shinkawa did this! My god!!!!
OH I WISH! WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING!?
This is super goofy and the art and voice acting get a little hinky at times, but the extra scenes of the zany villians bitching at each other are great. I'd love to see a preMGS1 something (comic, game where you play as Meryl and eventually get captured, etc) about the takeover of Shadow Moses.
that applies to the games as well lmao
this game is the bomb, i was in 1st grade when i played the shadowmoses incident. great times.
Meryl being mind controlled by mantis was excellent creepy surrealist art.
53:39 Meryl! Girl straight goin for it!
If someone was going to use something from MGS as the basis for a movie script this would probably be the best option as opposed to the games
58:17
Snake: "Master Miller! You look..erm...different...."
"Miller": "The miracle of Nanomachines Snake!"
I really wish Hayter made snakes voice younger sounding. his voice still sounds like snaked in his old age with the gruff
It's called FOXDIE not GEEKDIE!LOL. I think I might like the dialogue here better than the game itself. In fact I know I do!!!
LIGMA!
Sooooo... the guy that played Ames in MGS 2 is doing baker here. He does strike a good impression, pretty cool.
Lol liquid calling solid his evil twin was hilarious
This is better than any movie I've seen in a theatre! Shxt is just amazing visually. What an a great story and this method... I had no idea digital graphic novels were so captivating.
I'm about to watch pt. 2
I love that since they were only doing MGS1&2, they snuck in some Snake Eater stuff into these guys like Psycho Mantis showing Snake everyone he's killed, or Ocelot being possessed by Liquid in part because of his powers inherited by The Sorrow.
Then it turned out Liquid was never there since Kojima regretted doing the Liquid Arm twist.
The voice of Gray Fox is young Ocelot in MGS3/PW
"Women..."
My favourite Snake line now.
Thanks for uploading these!
correct order to play or watch :]
1964 - Snake Eater
1970 - Portable Ops
1974 - Peace Walker
1975 - Ground Zeroes
1984 - The Phantom Pain
1995 - Metal Gear
1999 - Solid Snake
2005 - Metal Gear Solid
2007/09 - Sons of Liberty
2014 - Guns of the Patriots
2016/18 - Rising:
And if your feeling a little non cannon where would ghost label go?
But of course everyone can and should enjoy the games however they want to
Press the circle button repeatedly to regain your strength. When you've had enough, press the select button to submit. When your life reaches zero the game is over! there are no continues my friend
I’m pretty surprised that they re-recorded all the lines for this dub. Although, I guess it would make sense, so the new voice acting would be consistent all throughout
Absolutely loved this thank you.
“Never corner a fox” is so meek compared to “A cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal!”
I get they probably changed it because they cut Liquid’s lines setting up that line for brevity.

Brevity ?

Grey Fox sounds like a nerdy anime EMO,
Wasn't he in his late 40's or early 50's in MGS1?
For some reason, they used Gray Fox's voice actor from Portable Ops. In that game he's a teenager, which is why he sound so young here.
MegaUltraSuper⁓99 The problem was his voice should be deep like the original because frank is you know dead
@@niallheaton2724 he is voiced by the same guy who voices the DARPA Chief in the original
I liked the pacing in the original game better, because they had more tear jerking stuff and codec convos that were worth listening to
+John Constantine And that's fair.
Very awesome! Thanks for sharing this!
I don’t like how down everyone talks to ocelot
