WorkGalaxy47 Memes (as internet jokes) become such just by word of mouth popularity. Sometimes it's just a case of saying something often enough and it becomes a thing. The "played like a fiddle" thing was like due to the quirkiness of the line and the expressive delivery of it. It also has utility as most Metal Gear plot twists are based on manipulation and betrayal so it can get alot of use out of it.
The fact there will never be a game/series like this ever again makes me truly sad. These games are really something else and it's amazing they had a chance to exist. I've experienced the original MGS so many times and I gotta say I'm glad that a game like this was part of my childhood. I love this.

I appreciate what you’ve done here, making all the key gameplay look like a montage in a movie with all the key moments included, that was probably the best way it could have been implemented
its kinda how it was done on the MGS movie mode when you clock the game. you can watch it as a movie and it makes the gameplay a montage with snake talking very it sometimes just like here. its pretty cool. if you wanna see the best way to turn gameplay into a movie, check out YongTea's Dragonborn movie. he made the intro up, but the rest is all the game done using movie like camera angles, and its just like watching an actual film. every game movie machinima should be done that way i think. GTA V would look especially cool.

Just found this video lol. The original is still #1 for me but seeing this with , at the time, updated graphics for the GC (on par and more powerful then ps2) certain scenes are missing the hmph and gruff to them on GC compared to PS1. Maybe it's lack of ambient music or tones.
I heard people say this remake cranked everything up to be a bit over the top... I see why. I kinda like it, to be honest. Not a replacement for the original, but still 100% worth experiencing

Funny enough, this game uses the KOJIMA accurate script, nearly word for ford the dialogue is similar to what Kojima intended “killing creates more carnage”. It’s more accurate than the original but due to the cutscenes and gameplay changes(some for the better in my opinion like the PAL) and the VAs being older, it’s shunned. Hopefully it makes it into Master collection volume 2
I think it was a model of Rex or some other Mech in the original, but it’s hilarious here because it makes it seem like Mario is the root of evil or something. Edit: I misremembered, there’s nothing there in the original, so it’s even more hilariously out of place here.

@@lucas169 Hideo supervised the entire game's development as well as specifically asked Kitamura to redo the cutscenes in his (Kitamura's) signature over the top style after initially Silicon Knights initially had the cutscenes be 100% faithful to the original. You can even read about it in interviews with Kojima around the time leading up to its release.
I dunno why but I freaked when I found out that Sigint from mgs3 is the DARPA chief in this game. It's awesome how everything connects throughout the series.
But yet your not even a little curious on why doctor Clark is referred to as a man but as we can clearly see is female in mgs3, mgs4, and portable ops.

I wished the games were released chronologically. It would have been awesome if MGS4 was released on Konami's Fox Engine but I dont think they'll remaster or remake it

The scene of meryl getting shot is a lot better in this version. Snake's visible frustration at her being helpless and dying in front of him mirroring his experience in Metal Gear 2 with Gustava, the music adding to the tension as Campbell starts to let his adrenaline go out of control as he panics trying to brief snake to fight back to save his daughter (infact the slip in his voice is a huge foreshadowing that Meryl is far more than just his niece to the player).
I’m surprised to hear such a rare opinion. Most people hate this version of the scene because Snake and Meryl stand in place for so long and they don’t think that’s realistic. Thank you for explaining your reasons for why you like this version of the scene more. It highlights a lot of strong points that I can agree with.
Even if the cutscenes were ridiculously over the top, the scene where Snake and Liquid stare each other down at the very end still gives me chills to this very day.

So, the shot she gives him with the anti freezing peptides etc, also contained foxdie (as ordered secretly by Jim Housman)but she also secretly mmodified it to age snake quicker and kill him. she did this because of the fact snake killed frank jaeger aka gray fox aka cyborg ninja, on a minefield in the previous game. See Naomi was the adopted sister of frank and so she set out for revenge on the man who ''killed'' him. but what she eventually finds out after injecting snake is that frank and snake were best friends. frank had actually asked for snake to fight him in a quote 'fist to fist fight, involving no hatred or murderous intent between the proffessionals'. Naomi discovers that Snake considered frank his best friend regardless of the fight. After she finds out snake isnt just a merciless killer, she forgives him for franks situation following frank and snake cooperation in destroying metal gear rex on shadow moses. Franks last wish was for snake to tell naomi that he was responsible for her parents death and that that is why he adopted her. but even after knowing she was basically resposible for the thing that will eventually kill him, he instead tells her that frank said to forget him and move on with her life, and that frank loves her. he also tells her that franks actions against metal gear saved him, her, and the world. he never told her that frank killed her parents because he knew that frank was the only family she had after her parents death. and thats why everytime i see her inject him with the peptides that contain the modified foxdie that will kill him eventually, it gets to me because i know that if she knew the truth of snake and franks friendship, and actually knew snake how she eventually gets to, that she wouldnt have used it. and its kinda sad.

Anyone who feels MGS1 is better is literally controlled by his nostalgia... The voice acting is bad in the PS1 version... and we can really see that Kojima was limited. MGS1 TWIN SNAKES is the TRUE version of the SHADOW MOSES incident. If KONAMI remakes MGS1 they better remake it according to twin snakes. New players will enjoy that game the way Twin Snakes executed the story and cutscenes.

Did anyone else discover that in both the original game and the remake, snake can run and shoot at the same time by holding the firing button, slightly moving the directional pad and then hammering down immediately on the crouch button while still holding the firing button? Out of all of the crazy characters, plot points, heel turns, 4th wall breaks and twists, I think that the most perplexing part of this is the 2nd floor basement.
It just occurred to me that there are pretty good cliffhangers about every forty minutes. #1: 0:38:04 #2: 1:16:47 #3: 2:00:01 #4: 2:40:42 #5: 3:31:14 (Ten minutes over on this one, but there are a lot of codec conversations that could be trimmed.) #6: 4:07:33 Perchance an episodic cut could be made?
I think I am crazy but I love this version. I originally played MGS on PS1 several times. I understand some of the differences this version made but I still love it and would rather go back and play this version over the original. It would be great if 1-4 got remade for this generation. Sticking to all the original voice work and made them all graphically like phantom pain. Pipe dream!

As someone who first played mgs3, then mgs tts, mgs2, mgs1, mgs4 and so on. I kinda prefer The Twin Snakes over the PS1 version, the music is more iconic in PS1, but gameplay, voice acting and most if not all the dialogue seems way more believable, especially between the accents of Mei Ling and Naomi and having having the DARPA chief play as Grey Fox (Rob Paulson is a way better choice).

Me personally I prefer the original as it's not so over the top all the time. Twin snakes is what I watch the cutscenes for a good laugh, but when I actually want to play the game, I prefer the original. Plus I just prefer the PS1/2 style graphics over the more plasticy look of twin snakes.

Liquid was the one with the actual combat genes the game starts with Naomi explaining that they had already identified over 50 combat related genes and that's what the Patriots gave to Liquid the dominant genes while Snake was give the recessive genes (but Liquid got told different he got told he had the recessive ones and Snake the dominant ones wich combined with Snake beating Big Boss is why he feels under the shadow of Snake) the issue that Liquid had was his ego he was so good and so strong that he's too careless Solid on the other hand isn't he respects situations more and doesn't have a wierd inferiority complex like Liquid did pushing him to want to prove himself above everyone else
Obviously, one of the best video games ever made. I has a kick ass, baller updated soundtrack, and the fact that David Hayter took a pay cut to get all of the original voice actors back, makes it even better. Remember when actors used to actually care about their craft and it wasn't just all about the money???

EDIT: Time to start Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. When I was younger, I played this game alot on my PS2. I got pissed off one time and never played it again to this day because I couldn't beat the clone Metal Gear Ray's. One of these days, I'm gonna dust off a copy, and beat that part with dignity.

Basically, it's the first game where Toon Link shows up. I bought the limited edition, which also has a GameCube disc that contains Ocarina of Time and Ocarina of Time: Master Quest.
For me, Naomi always sounded like this. Also 8:09 the pivotal point in this entire video game saga- The moment Snake is injected with the original strand of the FOXDIE virus.
This game doesn't need another remake. In my opinion it would be better to have a remake of Metal Gear (MSX), Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake or MGS3. I would be more than willing to buy a PS4 remaster of The Twin Snake that improved the graphics (like the REmake remaster) and maybe changed the OST and cut the bullet time cut scenes.
Another thing that could be awesome is Metal Gear VR. I mean it would be a fun little spin-off for the PSVR and is definitely a better idea than Metal Gear Survive.

The tone of the voice acting, the pacing, and even the graphics of the PS1 made the scene superior and more emotionally impactful. Sure the polygon count and quality of textures of the Gamecube game are higher, but the PS1 game gave it such a more gritty look and more appropriate colors, compared to Gamecube's obsession with making outdoor environments so...blue.

@@lucas169 Hideo supervised the entire game's development as well as specifically asked Kitamura to redo the cutscenes in his (Kitamura's) signature over the top style after initially Silicon Knights initially had the cutscenes be 100% faithful to the original. You can even read about it in interviews with Kojima around the time leading up to its release.

The scene of meryl getting shot is a lot better in this version. Snake's visible frustration at her being helpless and dying in front of him mirroring his experience in Metal Gear 2 with Gustava, the music adding to the tension as Campbell starts to let his adrenaline go out of control as he panics trying to brief snake to fight back to save his daughter (infact the slip in his voice is a huge foreshadowing that Meryl is far more than just his niece to the player).
I’m surprised to hear such a rare opinion. Most people hate this version of the scene because Snake and Meryl stand in place for so long and they don’t think that’s realistic. Thank you for explaining your reasons for why you like this version of the scene more. It highlights a lot of strong points that I can agree with.

See Naomi was the adopted sister of frank and so she set out for revenge on the man who ''killed'' him. but what she eventually finds out after injecting snake is that frank and snake were best friends. frank had actually asked for snake to fight him in a quote 'fist to fist fight, involving no hatred or murderous intent between the proffessionals'. Naomi discovers that Snake considered frank his best friend regardless of the fight. After she finds out snake isnt just a merciless killer, she forgives him for franks situation following frank and snake cooperation in destroying metal gear rex on shadow moses. Franks last wish was for snake to tell naomi that he was responsible for her parents death and that that is why he adopted her. but even after knowing she was basically resposible for the thing that will eventually kill him, he instead tells her that frank said to forget him and move on with her life, and that frank loves her. he also tells her that franks actions against metal gear saved him, her, and the world. he never told her that frank killed her parents because he knew that frank was the only family she had after her parents death.
and thats why everytime i see her inject him with the peptides that contain the modified foxdie that will kill him eventually, it gets to me because i know that if she knew the truth of snake and franks friendship, and actually knew snake how she eventually gets to, that she wouldnt have used it. and its kinda sad.

MGS1 TWIN SNAKES is the TRUE version of the SHADOW MOSES incident. If KONAMI remakes MGS1 they better remake it according to twin snakes. Did anyone else discover that in both the original game and the remake, snake can run and shoot at the same time by holding the firing button, slightly moving the directional pad and then hammering down immediately on the crouch button while still holding the firing button? While Snake is still in motion, he can fire his weapon repeatedly so long as the crouch button is still held down

I think I am crazy but I love this version. I originally played MGS on PS1 several times. I understand some of the differences this version made but I still love it and would rather go back and play this version over the original. It would be great if 1-4 got remade for this generation. As someone who first played mgs3, then mgs tts, mgs2, mgs1, mgs4 and so on. I kinda prefer The Twin Snakes over the PS1 version, the music is more iconic in PS1, but gameplay, voice acting and most if not all the dialogue seems way more believable, especially between the accents of Mei Ling and Naomi and having having the DARPA chief play as Grey Fox (Rob Paulson is a way better choice).

Me personally I prefer the original as it's not so over the top all the time. Twin snakes is what I watch the cutscenes for a good laugh, but when I actually want to play the game, I prefer the original. Plus I just prefer the PS1/2 style graphics over the more plasticy look of twin snakes.

Liquid inerited Big Boss' charisma and leadership. And Solid Snake has Big Boss' combat proficiency and willpower.
Liquid was the one with the actual combat genes the game starts with Naomi explaining that they had already identified over 50 combat related genes
and that's what the Patriots gave to Liquid the dominant genes while Snake was give the recessive genes (but Liquid got told different he got told he had the recessive ones and Snake the dominant ones wich combined with Snake beating Big Boss is why he feels under the shadow of Snake)
the issue that Liquid had was his ego he was so good and so strong that he's too careless
Solid on the other hand isn't he respects situations more and doesn't have a wierd inferiority complex like Liquid did pushing him to want to prove himself above everyone else

EDIT: Time to start Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. When I was younger, I played this game alot on my PS2. I got pissed off one time and never played it again to this day because I couldn't beat the clone Metal Gear Ray's. One of these days, I'm gonna dust off a copy, and beat that part with dignity.

This game doesn't need another remake. In my opinion it would be better to have a remake of Metal Gear (MSX), Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake or MGS3. I would be more than willing to buy a PS4 remaster of The Twin Snake that improved the graphics (like the REmake remaster) and maybe changed the OST and cut the bullet time cut scenes.

The tone of the voice acting, the pacing, and even the graphics of the PS1 made the scene superior and more emotionally impactful. Sure the polygon count and quality of textures of the Gamecube game are higher, but the PS1 game gave it such a more gritty look and more appropriate colors, compared to Gamecube's obsession with making outdoor environments so...blue.

Uhm big boss beat many superhuman soldiers singlehandedly when he himself had no superhuman abilities he even beat a 7 Foot tall russian bloke that could control thunder
