Another tip I forgot: While you need to keep infamy under 25 to avoid coalitions against you early on once you have about double the military score of the second power no one will ever dare to fight you. So you can pretty much ignore bad boy points from there!
You forgot stocking up various military and other supplies to 2000 for quicker army/fort/ship/railroad/whatever construction. Most countires can easily afford that.
That is true, great tip pyatr! Especially if you are a low ranking country you can set an order to buy clippers to have them in stock even before reaching the sea.
The game is so cryptic even with the thousands of tooltips and popups but nothing is clear. Like a commercial jet pilot once told me when I asked how does he know what all control does: "I don't know we only use 5 buttons"
btw you should remake your army each time a province lacks enough soldier pops to maintain their brigades, this can be seen in the army mapmode and can be changed with a focus on soldiers on that province's region.
stratehy joe: now building rail roads will cost money, but its worth the investment me who has 3 million in 1845: money is not a problem around these parts
1) If you justify multiple war goals on a nation Justify the war goal that take the longest to justify first And declare war with it so it won't expire 2) Don't rush to support a side in a crisis if its not in your interest its seems like the AI tends to support the opposing side of the player so take your time 3) If you helping the Netherlands early on against Belgium and UK on Belgium's side Don't peace out Belgium separately peace out the UK instead Cause after you peace out the UK gaining more war score becomes harder since you will not enjoy the war goal achieved bonus over time
Good tip on managing early infamy with the justifications make sure to have all justification done within the timeframe of the first expiry (Being jingoistic helps a lot here you have the time to make two or three justifications before expiry). For crises I think it's best to either get invested rapidly into supporting one side so you become the coalition leader and can dictate the demands or if the crises is far from your sphere of interests to not even bother participating in it.
with jingo one can get three war goals done within a year the prestige loss penalty for not intervening in a crisis is too big imo early on it might be fine though
Ty for the video i like vicky 3 better rn but i have a feeling it is because i understand it better than vicky 2 so ty for the video i learned a lot from it
Something I tend to do is I always use all my nation focuses to encourage capitalists to make more factory’s and railroads, is this good? And if not how often should i switch out my focuses?
There are probably better uses for the national focus. Capitalists often invest in railroads even without encouraging it, and railroads are quite cheap anyway. Encouraging them to build factories isn’t very efficient, mostly due to their AI behaviour where they build random factories without planning ahead i.e. considering resources in the state and profitability. This is why laissez-faire sucks as an early game policy, but later in the game the capitalist AI starts performing better and can take over after you’ve set up profitable industries and factory types. So using a focus to make capitalists build factories isn’t optimal because you might as well either handle the economy actively through state capitalism, or you use laissez-faire and let capitalists worry about building the right industries. In fact national focuses are confusing because some are basically useless, e.g. colonial migration, while others are so OP they’re almost always required, e.g. encourage clergymen. If you want to know when to switch a focus you need to keep an eye on the rate of change for whatever focus you’re using. For example, if you choose to encourage bureaucrats in a new colony, after a while you can check how many new bureaucrats have appeared, and you’ll see there are basically none - because colony pops don’t really promote to bureaucrats. So that’s a wasted national focus point. But let’s say you conquered a huge Chinese colony with 1m people, and check the population tab to see that only 2% are soldiers. So you choose encourage soldiers in this colony, then a while later you check their population info again, and you might see that the percentage of soldiers has jumped to 4%. That’s a good time to stop, because instead of trying to squeeze out a few more soldiers, you can switch to another state that might have 1.5m people but only 0.5% are soldiers, so switching your focus to this province will give you more soldiers to recruit.
No worries, feel free to ask if there’s anything else. I’m no pro at the game either but it gets simpler once you figure out all the quirks and weird mechanisms
Do you think you can do a tutorial on how to play victoria 2 because I just downloaded Victoria 2 and it's all just too confusing and I am new in strategic games and I would really appreciate it thank you. (:
