With some versions of HPM(or HFM, I forget), you could do the serfdom reform after losing a war, which made taking the "Defender of Eastern Christendom" decision and then immediately accepting the "Status-Quo" wargoal when France/UK ect intervene busted beyond all imagination. It was a real incentive to hit the button for that and surprised everyone else in the lobby when I did that

early game is the best time to invade, your army tech is the same as everyone else but you have a giant military and are in a good position to make that military even larger, just dont take mil techs early game, plus if you get skill issued you can still peasant reform, also get your biggest states to 4% clergymen so your nation reaches an average of 2% faster
also against ai Prussia and Austria I've always considered Prussia easier to kill, usually when I've tried it they keep a large part of their army in stacks in Memel of Silesia; they are easily encircled and from there its just occupations and trying to split the armies of the minors
It would be nice if the mods mentioned were either in the video description, or in the time stamps when they're being discussed. It's a little hard to keep track of exactly what points are vanilla, modded, and which mod at what time. Otherwise its both a very fun and informative video! I like hearing other people's advice on these sorts of games, I should really try multiplayer some time
From experience I think the best expansion route is going into the Ottomans, since you'll get help, the Italians want Tunisia, and everyone wants the Suez, so Egypt, its easy to find allies for that, and you can later form an allied Yugoslavia paired with an allied Romania and even Greece

i usually just build factories in my top 4 biggest states manually, like i designate one state for general consumer goods(wine, liquor, glass, clothes, etc), then one for wood consumer goods, then one for military goods, then one for steel/coal related goods ideally in an iron/coal province. gonna watch this video now to improve
You can actually get a super early peasant reform in HPM. You just need to lose one war (you start in 2) and select a liberal party. Honestly I have always loved Russia playthroughs even if they're kinda boring at times. Russia is just too powerful.
Also yes the revolts you get will be insane. Just a constant stream of massive revolts for no reason, even if you dramatically lower your taxes it will keep happening.
its cus of subsidizing industry search up hyper industrialization guide, you'll get less rebels, a far bigger industry, and obv 0 industrial spending. the problem is craftsmen dont get a salary when a subsidized factory is unprofitable until you get min wage, which only provides little anyway, better to set up a laisez fair economy
Ok, you are underselling this a bit. Russia at the start has 5 basic army techs. It's a standard amount that most other GPS have. Prussia has 6, the extra tech gives them +25% tactics. You can research that quickly and be on par with Prussians, because tactics allow your troops to fight longer and that's all you need. Take defensive fights on defensive terrain, rotate your wounded troops from battle to fresh ones and use defensive oriented generals. That's all you need to beat Prussians and especially Austrians, Ottomans and uncivs.
do you think you can give more industrialisation advice. my factories never fill up quick enough with craftsmen to compete w the other GPs unless im germany. My capitalists are also the worst because eventhough i have high literacy and laissez faire they still dont build

Literacy is super important for craftsmen promotion with less than 30% education resulting in pretty much 0 promotion to craftsmen and increasing levels of promotion based on education. So instead of doing the dumb thing of promoting craftsmen you should be promoting clergymen in states with large populations to raise literacy. The reason Germany is so easy to get loads of craftsmen with is because the German pops start the game with 80% literacy, which combined with the huge pop growth of Germany due to the high life rating of their provinces results in tons of craftsmen lategame The literacy rate of Russia being so terrible is the singular major thing holding Russia back in game
CORRECTION:
3:35 2% clergymen is optimal for research points gain, but 4% is the optimal for literacy gain

Actually the starting Russian navy at least in stock is really good with over 50 heavy ships along with a lot of core ports to get a massive navy

You should make this in to a series! Very good video

As Russia, it's good to build in states which have more literacy. Finland, the Baltic & Poland have much better literacy than Russians do.
