Remember that any state connected to your capital by land count as 'core ports'. This is why Spain can become a naval and colonial powerhouse if they get Gibraltar because strait crossing count as connecting by land, thus they can have all of Africa as Core Ports.
You know this is about what Portugal claimed in the Berlin conference but was denied due to them not being in the area and being weak. They also did claim the whole continent at first but that didn’t really get them anything
You may not have the most subscribers or views but i love the moving hand in the editing the overall very informative guide and the simplistic but charming stick figure thumbnails love your videos man keep at it :)
I found out about your Mexico video 4 days ago, it helped me a lot during my first run and i ended up being the 3rd Greatest power by the end, its great to see you post once again
Props for staying up to 1:15 AM in the morning to finish captions! I hope your sleep schedule didn't die. But then again you play Paradox games so it's already probably dead.
Victoria 2 is a wonderful game. I've always thought that this game is extremely outdated, and so I didn't want to buy it. Instead I would wait for Vic3 to come out. But when I stumbled across your video, I've seen that Vic2 is actually still a good game to play. And some of it's mechanics are even more detailed than those in other Paradox games.
Thanks to this I had a game as Germany where I almost got all of Africa. I've found that by getting Nigeria from Sokoto and either Senegal from France, or the gold state from Morocco you can cut off everyone that is on the Ivory Coast from the rest of Africa.
It's interesting you mention the earthquake but not the union with Spain where we were forced to fight allies and Spain enimies on Spain wars in the end we lost alot from our colonian empire including what started it all the spice trade. But it was also our fault for buying useless things for the country from other countries with the goods from the colonies(like carrieges from France that most were lost in the earthquake) instead of investing on ourselves and letting a king with out a heir going to war in alcácer Quibir where he died lending to the union.
I'd have liked to have seen some of the results, like what your nation was like after filling in africa and how much you were rolling in 'coerced' warriors
There should have been a mechanic where the more you invest in your colony the more bonuses to immigration/assimilation you got. Doesn’t make sense that a colony I got after 9 months is functionally the same as a colony I invested in 15 times
Love vic2 it's set in the best time period for this kind of game. Surprising to see new content even though it's so old! Seems like vic3 announcement has led to somewhat of a revival. These are good vids though keep it up
I like how I watched a whole video about a strategy that I already figured out myself even in the smallest details twas a nice video tho except for the unfinished captions :)
Love your presentation and the research put into this! Especially for a Vic 2 tutorial. Would love to see more, even if it's history related like the Falun Gong one.
You know I really like the amount of effort put into this video it's really good, would say that you are a little hot on the mic and it's a bit poppy on some of your words. Otherwise good job man definitely subing
Really nice video on this topic. But I think you forgot to mention that all the early parties of Portugal in the game are free market. Putting taxes on the products from abroad is, sometimes, one of the best ways to get an actual economy. Another problem with Portugal is the fact that it doesn't produce any product of great value and that affects your industry. But is quite a fun nation to play because you can do always a different campaign. You can go for Johore in the early game to get the gold. You can try to beat the Dutch in East indies with the help of the british (if they are you allies). You can try to get ports in China. Or even attack the Islamic countries to show Christian superiority. And with mods, you can even unify Iberia. Your only problem: bad economy and a weak army. Try out Portugal and tell me how it went
Very good video, another war that might be useful is a good ol fashioned trip to the bank of China one good port in China and money isn’t a thing for the rest of the game
tip for yall who don't want to play portugal: in AI games, portugal will usually lose secondary power status, meaning they are unable to colonize you can then use this to your advantage, using their colonies to block the other AIs from colonizing into mozambique or angola, since portugal already controls those territories this means that you can do this exact strategy, and it will work (or be even easier if you play a country like GB or germany)
"Why other ppl don't like playing without mod" me : looking at a cursed Border at north America, China number 1 on military, Spain allied Russia sometimes.
The other thing is that you can purposefully not research anything early in 1869 and cache research and once Jan 1 1870 roles around all those points will contribute to research allowing you to quickly get the tech before 1871.
For those seeking to do this in HPM, I have a word of advice: As soon as you become a GP, start influencing the interior African countries at max priority. HPM has an event that can fire once the Scramble starts that lets you instantly annex an uncivilized nation in your sphere, and if you sphere countries like Sokoto or the Tukulor Empire (the latter of which is usually formed fairly early on) and deter your rivals from attacking them, you can get giant swathes of land instead of racing everyone else for the Sahel.
The Tordesillas Treaty must be enforced.
-Some Portuguese guy, probably
As a portuguese i can say this is true and based, portugal aka byzantium of vic 2
Remember that any state connected to your capital by land count as 'core ports'. This is why Spain can become a naval and colonial powerhouse if they get Gibraltar because strait crossing count as connecting by land, thus they can have all of Africa as Core Ports.
So steal gibbyalter and south Spain and you get big portygaul
So if you annex the south of spain, gibraltar and morocco portugal becomes a naval superpower?
it explains why I managed to cuck britain with the ottomans in HPM
Does that extend into Asia as well?
You know this is about what Portugal claimed in the Berlin conference but was denied due to them not being in the area and being weak. They also did claim the whole continent at first but that didn’t really get them anything

Fun fact:On the division of África portuguese claimed ALL the África, and in 1560 they have Most of the litoral of africa
@Danilo Mendes Because we "discovered" and colonised lands in Africa first and left some marks we were there before.
This must likely wouldn't have happened and colonisation in the new world if we didn't want spices from india
