I have an extremely hard time believing yall actually care about his infidelity lol. While saying a personal knock against him was his lack of support for Trump haha.
Trump's a known repeat offender of marital infidelity, caught bragging about sexually assaulting & taking advantage of women, & yall don't talk about him needing to be punished from his position of influence. Pastors can't sin?
He'll take a PR break & slide back in when the heat is off cuz no matter how u slice it he will inspire plenty Christians by his "redemption story". We already know what comes next lol.

Well my family used to know this family (they are lovely btw). And i feel. Laura is a wonderful woman, and it would be so so hard to have the whole world watching. What hillsong did to fire Carl, was smart, damage control and reputation of the church. Firing his wife, I’m not too sure why they did that. Seems unfair, but Brian probably had his reasons and there might be more stuff hidden from the media that isn’t known of. But we can never know and all we can do is just refrain from major criticisms and remember that in God’s eyes we are no better yk?
Mainly i feel for the family and really pray God sill guide them however.

And another note: hillsong put ridiculous sometimes unreasonable hours onto staff (talking from personal experiences) and its unfair. Obviously that will NEVER excuse infidelity, but i think hillsong needs to make a change to ensure wellbeing and accountability of their staff. (Just a side note tho)

Don't forget that pastors or anyone who teaches the gospel are held to a higher standard before God - "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness." James 3:1

I am a Bishop (overseer) of Churches, Ministries, Pastors and other Ministers.
That being said, I would like to offer my point of and indeed my practice when situations like this have occurred within my realm of authority throughout my 41 years of Ministry.
I must first prayerfully determine if the Leader in question is and was called to be a Minister (I say that because the leader in question may have been raised to the position before my assertion into the position God has blessed me to be in).
Whether or not the person in question meets the biblically mandated requirements of that office now turns on two related matters. To give the discussion concrete form, let us suppose we are dealing with a former pastor who has been disciplined for adultery, but who has repented, put himself under the care of the elders (pastors) of the church, and has been restored to church membership (assuming he was removed).
Now the question arises as to whether or not he can be restored to pastoral office. The two related matters to be explored are these:
    (a) Is he in danger of committing the sin again? This requires pastoral judgment as to the measure of the repentance, the degree of his spiritual restoration, the nature of the resolve, and the accountability he will display in the future. Let us be quite frank: the number of people (including pastors) who offend in this area and then offend again is extremely high.
Quite apart from the moral obligation of the elders to protect the flock from a predatory pastor (and in this litigious society, that obligation has many dimensions), there is an obligation to come to consensus on whether or not the offender has been restored to the kind of moral resolve that makes recidivism unlikely. In biblical terms, the leaders must determine if the former pastor is now truly “self-controlled” (1 Tim. 3:2), and someone who knows well how to manage his own family (1 Tim. 3:4). For these are among the domains where his adultery has proved him unqualified to be an overseer, a pastor.
    (b) To what extent has his moral failure destroyed his credibility, both among the faithful and also with outsiders?
    The Measuring His Credibility
The second of these two questions calls for further reflection. When the fallen pastor’s supporters accuse the elders or the church of being unloving and unforgiving if they do not restore him to leadership, and loudly remind everyone that adultery is not the unforgivable sin, it is profoundly important to point out that such arguments are nothing more than red herrings. The real issue is public credibility. Paul insists that “the overseer must be above reproach” (1 Tim. 3:2) and “must also have a good reputation with the outsiders” (1 Tim. 3:7).
The “above reproach” category does not demand sinless perfection. Rather, what is demanded is that the candidate have no moral flaw for which many people “reproach” him. Moreover, the fact that this pastor must have “a good reputation with outsiders” is surely worth thinking about. Sometimes a church is so sentimentally attached to its pastor that even when he falls into grievous sin, many in the church, perhaps even the majority, will be happy to let him remain in pastoral office, provided he shows adequate signs of repentance.
But what about the outsiders? Do they look at his adultery, nod knowingly, and smirk? Is Christ’s name debased, not only because the pastor has committed adultery but also because the church has indicated it does not mind being led by a man who cannot keep his zipper up? Has this pastor so lost his credibility that when he preaches on anything to do with morality and integrity, a surfeit of polite sighs will escape from either the believers or the unbelievers or from both?
    We must ask Tough Questions
In this light, then, the elders must ask tough questions not only about how this fallen pastor is doing in himself, but also about how his credibility has been affected, both with the church and also outside. If they are satisfied with the pastor’s improvement in the former domain, they must nevertheless ask the hard questions in the latter domain. At this juncture the prospect of the fallen pastor being restored to active pastoral leadership is nothing more than the question of how (or if) he can regain public credibility.
At this juncture I break with some hardliners, who insist that restoration to public office must be ruled out, precisely because this sort of public credibility is forever forfeit. I am not so sure. I am quite certain that the kind of three-month, self-imposed withdrawal of Jimmy Swaggart, followed by his self-declared fitness for return to pastoral office, is a sad joke. In theory, however, I cannot see why a man could not regain credibility by starting over again, beginning at the bottom, proving faithful in small things.
Perhaps he begins by cleaning the building, by parking cars for the elderly in the church lot, by attending the prayer meetings. Perhaps after some years his participation in a house group is of such humility and of such quality that he is occasionally asked to address the group. Perhaps with time he becomes a faithful deacon, and after some years the integrity of his home life coupled with the depth of his biblical knowledge convince more and more people that he can be trusted with more. Perhaps he begins to preach once in a while. And so, over a long period of time, he may regain a great deal of public confidence, and be restored to some measure of spiritual leadership.
But this sort of path to restoration to pastoral office implicitly means two things. First, it is doubtful if this man will ever regain the authority he had before his fall. Too many people will know what has happened, and they will never be able entirely to forget it. Even if they agree that the man has regained substantial credibility, when he deals with certain themes they will inevitably remember his own egregious failure. And second, this model of restoration presupposes that the more prominent the pastor before the fall, the more unlikely is his full restoration to public trust after the fall. His very prominence means that more people will be devastated by this tumble, and more outsiders will make snide comments, ensuring that his restoration will take longer, be more difficult, and perhaps prove impossible.

1 Cor. 5:12-13 “For what have I to do to judge them ALSO that are without? Do not ye judge them that are within? But then that are without God judgeth. THEREFORE put away from among yourselves that wicked person.” We are suppose to judge people that are within the church so that stuff like this doesn’t happen (righteously of course, and pray for them)... Paul is not skeptical simply because something like this has happened but because he is not interested in knowing God. If he really wants to know about God he should read the Bible (lots of what Lentz was teaching is not biblically sound anyway and is more likely to fall into the category of teaching another gospel/another Jesus, which cannot save (Gal. 1:6-8), only the Jesus of the Bible can save. His issue is not that he is “skeptical” but that he simply does not want to believe or even seek God on the matter. Something like this should not and would not deter him from his search anyway because after all he would be seeking God, not man. The Bible says someone like this hates Jesus (the light) because he loves his sin - John 3:18-20 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.” Just because we all fall short, is not an excuse to overlook someone’s sinning, but we should call it out (first privately) in the hopes that they repent, as displayed in the Bible, because we know the judgment that is to come on people and we are suppose to be an example to the unbelieving that they may turn from their sins to believing the Truth of the Gospel. Heb. 10:26-31 “For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

The devil works non-stop to make sure that we fail, and Pastors are not exempt. He also enjoys the fact that we look at the physical aspect of things not the spiritual. With that being said that's why many of us Christians are talking about Carl Lentz's mistake more than the fact that we lost someone who was making an impact for God in a place like New York. I do pray that God will give him the grace to continue in Ministry, after he has gone through his personal healing process.

We had a similar situation not directly at our church but a church around our area. He was dealt with similarly. But the amazing thing was that the church was not affected significantly where a lot of people left or anything. They knew not to worship or hold a pastor on a pedal tool and when that man failed them they were upset but realised it is Jesus who is the head of the church. Hopefully he recovers but I always notice these little indications of compromise like focus on self a lot, not taking any stance in current issues etc. I’m with u on that Paul.

So, my encouragement for you is that: as God has pleased to allow you guys have this platform, use it only to glorify God. Speak truth plainly; don’t water it down, because in the end, you’ll give an account of it. I realize that this is what you guys aim at doing, so I encourage you to continue firmly in it.

David is a perfect example of a man after God’s heart who fell. Pastor, Worship leader, teacher - yes we are held at different standards (due to our role). But if the Father has called Him to Pastor, if Carl partners with Holy Spirit for full restoration and accountability I dont see why He couldnt be a Pastor again. God called him to be a Pastor long before he was unfaithful to his wife. Before Carl was unfaithful to his wife, he was unfaithful to God. God is alpha and omega, He said yes to Carl knowing how many times he’d let Him down. God makes the crooked path narrow - we are all human and susceptible to sin, even our Pastors. Praying for a hedge of protection over the Hillsong flock and that their eyes would be open, ears open and that they would be steadfast in their pursuit of Jesus. Why is anyone even discussing "what should happen to him?"? It's none of our bussiness. If Christians where less interested in other people's bedtime routines, keeping to themselves instead, the world would be a better place. If you believe that God is almighty, that His ways are misterious, than leave it to Him. Prayer is always good, but otherwise give this case a rest (and any other where consenting adults are involved). Any instace of abuse however is a whole different pair of boots and, in my opinion, should be talked about. I'm a Catholic and I believe that when something in your life is broken, sometimes the only way for God to make things better and help you grow, is to destroy all that is wrong. Maybe this is the case with Lentz? I don't know. I hope that everyone involved will receive the love and help they need.

Pastor Lentz deserves prayers from people and guidance from those who are respected. What should happen is need to fully repent his sins and acknowledge his weakness and errors in a genuine fashion. There should be repercussions for his actions ie loss of money, opportunity, even respect from his family and friends BUT what should happen is healing, correction, growth and forgiveness. What should happen is he becomes humbled and ministers and lives with humility. The gift of relating with people is questionable. He needs to minister - preach, lead, counsel with a PURE heart. You can't help but notice, not judge he loved the attention, he loved hanging with celebrities, I pray and hope that the focus of his life and ministry will be his heart for God and realness of God not "how cool he is". Some modesty/humility in how he lives might strengthen his ministry. As one person crudely suggested if he spent more time studying the Bible and building into his life, his family life and others rather than his abs. While I don't wish ill will if he was humbled like instead of a flashy church with lots of resources including fancy and techno worship services and Christmas and Easter huge extravaganzas if he can get to the root of his faith maybe he can be rehabilitated. I know I risk judging him because it seems he has a lot of money and fans more "in love" with his coolness factor - body, dress, hair. What should happen is like I said a "time out" focussing in on God - moving to LA wasn't exactly the mecca of peace and time and place for reflection. Walking the beach in winter with no shirt honestly does not suggest modesty, humility. I really hope we see him preach again but he SHOULD not do a reality show. Please go for a full healing. Humble his heart and may he have a full healing. Like that song Never Enough from the Greatest Showman Pastor Carl had it all. Looks, money, beautiful and adoring family, adoring fans, a lifestyle that allowed him to hang with the rich, famous and desirable, he has good genetics and a charismatic personality and a world of opportunities professionally, ministry wise and life. There should be consequences if not for deterrence and denunciation and then allow for a healing. Time will tell.

It happens in the bible over and over again where big figures break down before god and repent and beg for forgiveness and they’re forgiven. I think Carl needs to really look at the verse proverbs 27:17 iron sharpens iron one man sharpens another although it is a good thing to try and spread the word to celebrities it can turn around to bit him in the end because Carl will need a very very strong walk with god to avoid being tempted to behave like the celebrities. I think it’s also completely possible for him to go back to a church and do minister to people because we’re not all perfect but he also need to think about the people he’s hanging around with all the time to hopefully have more positive influence versus negative influence on him

We have to be able to help ourselves before we can help others.) AKA Needing to care for himself more and stop always worrying about others, in basic terms. But that "When you are pouring out to people but not being poured into" statement really made me feel for his wife, as that REALLY felt like he was definitely trying to blame his wife, for not "pouring into him" aka "fulfilling his needs", which is disgusting.

Do I know if he’s a true believer or not.. I cannot say. However based on his preaching, lifestyle, and now this recent act he is atleast in rebellion against God.
I feel very sad for hill song church, while they have bits and pieces of the truth, I do not believe they teach the true gospel.
I watched a video of him recently, and all he did was talk about himself, how great he was, his celebrity friends. And then went as far as saying he might change his mind on abortion and gay marriage.
We need to be careful to not be deceived. Just because a church has a few good standing points and some good music does not mean they represent God.
I am very surprised they let him go, and I will definitely give them credit for that.
But their church as a whole is just SO unclear about the true gospel and has ties with very shady things.

It seems like people have forgotten about the history of Peter and the denial of Jesus 3 time's. Or how God sees the beginning and ending and calls David a man after His own heart knowing what will happen in the future. And as a real monkey wrench Bathsheba ends up in the genealogy of the Messiah. Hmmmm, redemption, that's an interesting concept. I wonder where that comes from? God can take anyone's mess and make it their message. It depends if the repentance is real? Not just a promise to do better which never works. But an actual heart change which is God's deliverance not fleshly centered dualistic will worship and straining.

The problem with fallen ministers is that some followers might stumble too. You guys had a great point that someone who fell while in leadership might be vulnerable to further sin in those types of roles, like an alcoholic walking past a bar. Some sins God delivers us from immediately, while others might suffer with that particular temptation for life. There are Biblical and current examples of both. Also, I'm a mother and grandmother, but have never been married, yet I've been on two worship teams, which was so healing and meaningful. Am I currently sinning? Yes. Everyone is. But there were foundational shifts in me over the years, and my sins are far less severe or gone entirely in almost every area. I trust and obey God to lead my life way more than I did before, and keep in relationship with Him to allow Him to do more. The Bible says that we shall know them by their fruits. I think the biggest problem with Carl was that he wanted to taste more of the fruit of the world instead of the fruit of the Spirit.

I believe that Hillsong did do the right thing. Honestly, most Celebrity Pastors seem to at least tinker with either Progressive Christianity or the Prosperity Gospel. I agree that there are consequences to our actions and that we should hold these leaders to higher standards. Personally, I am seeing celebrities displaying fake remorse. While showing grace is a must, we need to acknowledge what repentance really is. Many people seem to take for granted that these "celebrity pastors" or celebrities period actually mean what they say. The Hollyweird world is saturated with actors who know what to say in order to appear to be a "virtuous" person. However, I see many working class citizens, blindly following these people as if they are truly as virtuous as they make themselves appear to be. I am not saying that Carl Lentz is doing what these actors are doing. I am saying that we need to be mindful of the factors that can sometimes indicate insincerity and red flags when we see/hear people making apologies.

Titus 1:7 “For a bishop [i.e. pastor] must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre...” and Paul says this again in Timothy. There’s literally a pic of Lentz out taking shots with Justin Bieber at a bar... Carl was most likely a hireling (John 10:12-13), you can pretty much tell just from his interviews how loosely he holds to the words of the Bible and how quick he is to “I’m not sure” on issues the Bible is clear about (2 Tim. 4:2-5). The Bible is very vocal on the qualifications for being a pastor and unfortunately it doesn’t seem like Carl fit those qualifications to begin with... (1 Tim. 3:3-6; 1 John 2:15-17; James 4:4) It really is sad but also this is why we are suppose to be praying for pastors and those in authoritative positions (1 Tim. 2:1-2). I don’t say all this to bash the man but like you said teachers and preachers will be held to a higher standard by God so it’s not crazy for us to expect pastors to act a certain way, especially with the following he has/had, as he is suppose to be a reflection of Christ to the world. Which is also another reason we really need to be praying for them and their souls (that they’re are in the position as a saved person and not just someone who happens to know some of the Bible and is looking for a job). In Rev. 3:14-17 Jesus does PROMISE to spit out (in Greek the word is “vomit”) lukewarm Christians. 1 Pet. 4:17 also says “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God...” People (and especially so-called Christians) need to be taking Jesus and the Bible seriously, now is not the time to be playing around with God - make SURE you are saved (don’t just guess or “feel” like you are but we need to be examining ourselves (2 Cor. 13:5) and asking God to confirm it in His Word that we have actually been born again, of the Spirit (John 3:5)).
Didn’t mean to rant but we’re living in crazy times, especially spiritually and I just hope people can see that. (Also I would just stay away from Hillsong in general, nice sounding music but their teachings are not doctrinally sound in the least bit, and it does carry into their music at times). Anyways, appreciated the video and will be praying for you guys too 🙏😊 (Also just wondering if you guys have or have thought about sharing the gospel in your videos, as I’m sure you also have unbelievers that watch your channel too 🤷‍♀️). Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃😊

Probably didn't need to be kicked out of the church. He could be stepped down and counselled. Instead he was booted out on his butt. I think there's more to the story we don't know that caused such a drastic removal.

Titus and the Timothys lay out the qualifications a pastor needs to meet. He not only didn't meet them, he betrayed them. He should therefore no longer be a pastor. That's not to say he isn't a Christian anymore, or even that I don't hope he finds a way to fix his marriage and personal life, but he is no longer eligible for leadership ministry.

Not judge mental of the church. Sounds like now, we are finding out that this woman was not the first. As a Christian, praying for him and his family. Saw so many pics of him drinking with his famous friends. Today.....he will face his Lord. He will decide who he wants to follow. Pray for him, and his precious wife and family. When you are on a high tower, the fall is long and spectacular.

If everyone’s businesses were blasted for the world to know they would be none absent of sins so this system is step up for failure

That is defiantly true everyone is judging a man for sinning for they all sin I find it interesting because people expect pastors to be Jesus and there shocked when they are just as human as you and I are . I feel bad for him in a way and worse for his wife . He is broken and needs prayers and all people want to do is gossip more 🤷‍♀️ and most love that he failed . Loving that someone else failed and gossiping about it are just as bad as the things he did outside his marriage . We are all sinning it’s actually sad . I know the point of the video isn’t bad but the comments wow , this world is in trouble for sure

My general take on pastors and church leaders and infidelity is, step down. Get all the way out of the limelight. Focus everything you have on repentance, on restoration with your spouse if they are willing (and it's within their rights biblically to leave you for this) and on healing your relationship with God. Don't even think about returning to teaching. I do think it could happen in the future, depending on the situation, but you certainly shouldn't be in a hurry to get back. If you ever do, it better not be the same you in that pulpit.

Another thing that is important for the story of David when it comes to him keeping his position is that David was chosen by God literally Carl wasn't. "Literally" chosen not just a popular Christian

The bible is clear in Mathew 5:29 " And if they right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for. I think his story can guide many but he has to avoid such a big platform so that he doesn't fall in temptation.

1st Timothy 3:2 says Husband of but one wife, literally, a “one-woman man.” So he is discarded from pastoral ministry if that is what he was doing... you should check out Ioe Rogans thoughts on him and it was shocking sort of on how he sees him and calls him “one of us” as in a non Christian

I understand he has a platform and should be careful at what he says and does cause so many people are looking up to them and I completely agree with hillsong letting him go but I think it’s important for people to realize that he is still human and still sins just like all of us do none of us are perfect.

Good analysis of the current situation and I do appreciate the perspectives that you both provided.. however, noticed a couple political notes here and there. Not saying one party is better than the other, but I do believe that Christianity circumvents political boundaries. Republicans/democrats alike can worship the same God, regardless of where you came from or what you are passionate about. Good job though!

Love the thing with mike pence but with his job it is surprising that he is never alone in a room with a woman. I am all for that. This may not make any sense at all. Also I think that Carl should get the chance to apologize the the church and take time off and work on his marriage and relationship with christ and his kids. Then if he and his wife feel they are ready maybe he preaches locally at a small church and that could help with temptation and falling into sin.

King David, prior to the incident with Batsheva, receives a very important promise from the Lord, it is due to this promise, he is not removed from the Throne, and because of it that He does not experience in his person the normal penalty of we would expect him to experience. Yet it is clear that the King of Israel, is not above The Law. Jehovah made a clear example of David to the whole nation of Israel.

I think she needs to terminate him. Like it’s a bad look on her to keep him around and not have a clear time apart. Restore after a break and space apart. To get spiritual self scope.
