You highly engaged politicos probably know that The Herle Burly’s first cousin, once
removed, is Hotel Pacifico - your 5-star podcast destination for all things in B.C.
politics - and part of the Air Quotes Media universe.
Today, we’re bringing the 2 pods together - a little like a 60-minute shotgun wedding - because our guest is Geoff Meggs, who, along with Kate Hammer and Mike McDonald, is one of the 3 fantastic people you can listen to weekly at Hotel Pacifico. Geoff is a decades-long political player in B.C. - both as an elected official and senior backroom strategist. He was Chief of Staff to Premier Horgan from 2017 until Horgan’s retirement in 2022. He served 3 terms as a member of Vancouver’s City Council. He was comms director to Premier Glen Clark. Chief of Staff to Vancouver Mayor Larry Campbell. And he’s a helluva thinker and writer who contributes regular opinion pieces to our online magazine, “Quotes”.
So, who better to talk about what are pretty massive political shifts, in B.C.?
    - Drug policy changes.
    - Working people and their relationship with both the NDP and CPC.
    - Horgan’s NDP vs Eby’s NDP vs Singh’s NDP.

As a New Democrat, I have always appreciated Geoff Meggs candor and insights that are as often self-reflective, as it is critical of others.

If you take a look historically at BC, the natural governing party is the Social Credit Party and their successor The BC Liberal party. BC has a strong tradition of the right uniting to stop the NDP.
The problem has been the vote spilt between the BC Conservative Party and The BC United Party, and which party for the right to back.
It looks like the consensus is now coalescing around the BC Conservative Party.
I expect if that holds , The NDP and David Eby are going to have very tough time winning.

Lol...."the natural governing party". Yes, the self entitled right-wing.

Crucially to BC politics; who is Bowin Ma and why does she exist as is?
Appointed by Horgan yet visible behind Mr Eby in the Legislature she is not Emergencies Minister and yet she does get a paycheque. What is this dangerous mystery and why is Mr Eby a coward?

Geoff is a strictly a NDP partisan. I don't mind him on the BC podcast. On this podcast he is insufferable. I don't think this podcast episode will tell you what is actually happening in BC. Don't like the smear against Aaron Gunn either.

You sound partisan yourself. What 'smear' against Aaron Gunn was there?

Nd social and economic policies have literally cost people their lives. They should be in the docket, not participating in an election.

@@squatch545 evidence? How about drug deaths and mandated Jonestown Jabs? How does that net equate to deliberate mass murder?
