I know you don’t really look at comments much so I doubt you’ll see this but I’ve been a huge fan for a long time & just want to say thank you, lex. For inspiring me every day & teaching me more than I ever could’ve learned in school. You’ve made me addicted to learning, thinking deeply, & with nuance. These conversations are truly priceless works of art.
Weird, he mentioned binary planets and then super earth having too much gravity to escape it, and it made me think, what if what they detected is actually a binary pair and not one giant rocky planet 🤔 super Earth's always seemed odd to me conceptually. Anywho, great episode!
Awesome interview! A person I think you should interview about Alien civilizations and visiting other solar systems, please interview Andrew J Higgins. Fraser Cain did an interesting interview with him about interstellar travel.
Professor Kipping, you're amazing. We need more people like you pushing the limits of space hypotheses, exo planet/moon discovery and just overall your outside-of-the-box thinking that's landed you the following you have today. Keep it up, you're a light in the darkness of space. 😎
I love sci-fi and listening to conversations like this. But it’s also sad. In essence, all I hear are the same old fantasies of ruling the universe as we kill ourselves with stupidity. That said, I was relieved to hear that acknowledged sincerely longabout 3:02:32
I have always felt the same as you defend since being introduced to the Fermi Paradox. But you are the first academic I have seen that makes the argument for being alone. I think being the "first", or even believing that we are the first, is a profound and powerful idea.
This is how I relax in the face of possibly terminal illness. Knowing people like these two beautiful humans exist and are trying their best to keep an eye on the ball… just gives me an almost religious sense of hope for the future… in the face of a very uncertain future, that’s truly a gift. Lex is standing on the shoulder of a giant and he has snatched the grasshopper out of his hand. Not only has Lex introduced me to so many great people and ideas (just subbed to cool worlds 😎) but had incredible episodes with people I learned of through Joe. The Duncan Trussel thumbnail popping up was like Xmas morning! I love them both, I think I am just a little more like-minded with lex. He always asks the questions I have for the guests. Lex, I know you read the comments. I'm half drunk so forgive my sloppy post but I fucking love you man, you are like the "perfect best friend". He is such a sad case, you tried so hard to help him. I miss the old Kanye and I hope he can find peace somehow. People like you are my hope for the future of humanity and whatever type of AI being we birth. You are so humble it is hard for me to word this but you have saved my life man. I am 56 yr old, and these podcast blow my mind. When I was in school, there was no way possible to hear conversations like these. A basic science class with a average educated teacher was not really stimulating. Lex gets extremely fascinating people on the cutting edge everything you could imagine and probably never imagined. I kind of sad that missed out conversation like these.
Something that has fascinated me recently is listening to lectures from the scientists and public intellectual's of the past. It really insightful to learn how they thought about the direction society would take, and what advances they expected would change the world versus what really ended up taking place
Im 46 and I love UA-cam, I listen to lectures and watch documentaries on so many topics that interest me all the time. Especially Religious, Spiritual and Occult topics that use to be so few and far in between we can even get Ancient Alien episodes on UA-cam and I learned so much about so many things on that show not even about aliens just history and Science based. As you said these Pod casts are excellent listening to convos as an outsider is so cool.
Amen brother. I’m 56 and I honestly think I’ve learned more in the last few years, listening to content like Lex and his guests, than in all the many years before that 😊
Absolutely, whenever I find myself commentating on such subjects unfortunately I get " why bother thinking of such things " it doesn't matter kind of thing like who cares , does my head in .
As a 60s baby from the era of 3 perhaps 4 📺 channels the Roswell NM incident along with the Kecksburg PA fascinated me. I loved listening to Art Bells show on AM 📻 radio

What a breath of fresh air and hope. People such as Lex and David … represent humanity in its best form - so far from the devolution or stagnation of those in politics. I can genuinely say my weekend has improved significantly after watching this.
David Kipping is probably the most touching, moving and personal storyteller I know on UA-cam. His videos are the ones that have always filled my imagination the most. He's the creator whose latest video I'm most looking forward to. I have watched all of his videos, several times in the case of some. He is an important contributor to humanity. Thank you Lex for bringing together these incredible personalities, who will be part of future encyclopedias.
I also love the Cool Worlds videos. However, I must also credit 'melodysheep' for his wonderful, 'Life Beyond' 1, 2 and 3 videos. Very atmospheric videos.
David Kipping is most definitely up there. Lex is not. He is most definitely on the level of most of humanity. Extremely enthusiastic, openminded and very naive in a certain way, but that is what makes him amazing in his own. Not brilliant but definitely should be exemplary for how us mere mortals should conduct and challenge ourselves.
.. hah oh please .. Lex believed in conspiracy theories .. a conspiratard .. he believed in the ever so silly 'US Govt and NASA's hiding information on extra-terrestrial alien'
When it comes to proteins which are part of our comosition, which came first? [ The protein | The nucleic code describing the protein | The mechanism that reads the code and assembles the protein ]
David Kipping is new to me. I awoke this afternoon to this episode playing. 'Hooked on space' is stuck in my semi conscious mind. I look forward to going through it, and eeking out more gems that most definitely lie therein. Thank you Lex and Mr. Kipping- what a dull simulation this would be without you both doing what you do so well.
Never watched the podcast but when I saw you had David Kipping on I had to watch. Great convo, and I'm happy you are able to introduce him to a wider audience. He's an inspiration.
Lex you never seem to miss! Just when it seems you can't possibly keep getting incredible people for your podcast you prove to the world you can! Keep up the amazing work!
I’ve watched/listened to almost all of Lex Fridman (and the great eps, many many times). This one’s going on the Mount Rushmore…..David’s an amazing guy and has a great channel…incredible episode!
Lex, I am really loving the graphics that you are adding over parts of the conversation. These animations really help the technical material become intuitive to those who do not have a background in the field.
I watch/listen to a huge amount of podcasts and youtube in general. This is my all time favourite. Thanks Lex for introducing me to David and cool worlds..truly fantastic
What an absolute gem of a human being. Love love the conversation about intellectual honesty, ego, assumptions, belief. I would not pick up a scientific paper unless my work required hiring an expert, so I thank you Lex for bringing in the people, the experts, to discuss their work. I'm so grateful for your podcast 😘
UFOgate. - For 75 years, the US government has been lying to humanity. The real crash of an alien spacecraft with occupants occurred on July 2, 1947. It was a manned star spacecraft, not a UFO. I completely unraveled the UFO phenomenon 28 years ago on 1/17/1995. Johann Zdebor
I've got to say he's like the most watchable guy to listen to in terms of explaining science and the nuances on why certain fringe ideas don't hold enough water. This is one of the most enjoyable episodes of yours Lex. Thanks!
Such an inspiring and clever discussion. When Prof Kipping smiles you want to smile with him and you feel his excitement. An absolute pleasure to watch!
Thanks for inviting professor Kipping. His take on alien life and colonization of Mars in particular, among others, exactly matches mine. I have huge respect for people that love what they do and can talk about it in such an engaging and passionate way. I wish I could have a conversation like this with him.
I looveeee this guy's pure logic based perspective on things. He constantly checks himself for biases and strives to view all through an open, yet critical mind that functions on what knowledge he does have to make the most logical decision about any situation. This man is a true scientist. I have this type of mentality, and it's kinda rare to see people like this.
Yes!! 'Brew MeUp; You hit upon the central-force of logic of Mr. Kipping. His understanding of FactCheck as he goes. His preaching caution and double checking the 'facts'-of-the-moment(ISM).
This is what science should be... Not what we experienced in 2020-2022 covid phase... "you should just believe what we say with no skepticism allowed". Sure, most trying to just do the right thing... But the "listen to the science" people when science was extremely limited were off base and I hope they all learned a huge lesson on what science really is. Skepticism is welcome and not to be shamed, try to proce it wrong so that the science is sound, and invite different perspectives
not sure how logical it is to conclude all these things from 1 pixel.... True science begins with receiving a love of the truth and coming to a knowledge of the truth requires an examination of all the "knowledge" on a subject... God has revealed Himself in His creation and His purpose in His Word. It is worth your time to read the Bible for yourself and learn about the only Creator mankind has on record speaking to mankind in the first person. God has given us a gift of reconciliation to Him by faith in Jesus, not astronomy... spend some time learning about Jesus through His Word, reading it for yourself.... it is worth it.

Thank god. You have no idea how much I needed an episode like this. Away from culture/religion (not that that’s bad). I feel like these open my eyes wider. Thanks Lex
Kipping is so great and so is his channel. What a great combo lex and cool world's bravo. By the way both are great to listen to whenever insomnia is kicking my ass.
And you got some unsolicited financial advice for your troubles. However, I happen to agree with you, so have a thumbs up. If all human beings could sit thus and delve deep. We would solve many problems.
I am no intending to blow it for you, but I usually sleep with autoplay on. It is not the first time that I have woken up to this episode. Today I woke up like 15,20 minutes in i think :)

You actually estimated how "much genius" is out there? I'll give you one thing: although I'm not sure how any person/group of people *could possibly* go about doing that, it would have been a rather unique endeavor.
This was a real joy to listen to. The depth and with of subjects really help with that all important perspective, thank you both so much! A thought that struck me during the simulation part regarding the necessarily lower resolution of subsequent simulations; would this not be a viable explanation for quantization? xD
Thank you, very grounded conversation. I appreciate how this guy tempered Lex’s usual daydreams of aliens and space travel because most guests indulge him instead of being pragmatic
Fantastic! As always Ross has me listening with my jaw open. Great interview!!! I think a new episode of need to know will drop tomorrow. I can't wait!
It’s why coolworlds is such a great channel, it’s a scientific approach to really fantastical questions, and paradoxically this actually improves my wonder and hope
The day I never thought would arrive is finally here. A union between the person I wake up to interviewing the person I fall asleep to. Thank you so much for this, Lex. It took you long enough!
I have been waiting for such an episode. Also, thank you Lex for sharing your book list, I haven't read properly in 3 years. When I saw your booklist I thought it was an intimidating number so I aimed for 12 this year. I'm onto my 3rd so far, so doing better than I anticipated and my life feels so much more enriched for the activity. Thank you for sharing your list, your motivation was contagious!
Lex does not disappoint. The guests are amazing. These 2 have me picturing and imagining all kinds of hilarious sxenarios on my mind. Its good to see more relaxed and fun energy.
God bless you and your work Lex. Rarely came across questions that are so interestingly in-depth with a conversation so properly extended, fulfilling and soothing. My body is asleep but my mind is much more stimulated than it was at the gym.

I had made a comment on one of Cool World's videos 8 months ago that I would absolutely love an interview of David on your podcast, that David actually reacted to, and to see it happen is amazing. What a wonderful and thoughtful conversation. I hope he returns to the podcast in the future.

What a brilliant conversation. I really like this guy. I’m doing a Masters in theology and the same basic principles apply. You can’t come to any study with a preconceived view of what we know. All aspects and possibilities must be considered. This enriched my thinking massively
I've been watching Lex for years, and I've been watching Cool World Lab for just a few days now. Only realized it was the same guy at the end when you mentioned his channel! This one was amazing!
I've been watching Professor Kipping for a couple years now on the Cool Worlds channel and have known of him for much longer than that and he is one hell of an awesome guy.
Kipping - 4-ый гость, увиденный мной, - спасибо наитию - Божественно зрячь... На голову выше, в виденье (по моему "скромному" разумению), других ГЕНИЕВ! искреннее восхищение
My favorite episode in a long time! These are the great questions of existence and David's perspectives are well thought-out and interesting. I love these conversations more then anything. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you both!
What a fantastically interesting listen. I struggle to find something to help in the drudgery of cleaning/chores, but your channel will be my new go-to. Bravo!
I was re-watching the rover landing yesterday. It really was absolutely insane. Orbit>atmosphere, use atmosphere to bleed off significant velocity, blow heat sheild, IR/Radar/camera spot landing zone, calculate and choose best landing zone, deploy supersonic parachute, float down, sky crane engage thrusters and lower the rover to the surface while maintaining altitude, deploy rover and then fly as far away as fuel will take it. Absolutely brilliant engineering
The Internet & social media so often occupy an intellectual and moral wasteland, a bit of heaven, or Plato's Academy, rolls into town when David Kipping shares his time and thoughts with us. He is the professor I always wanted, the smart, sweet, big brother, the Marvel Hero, the gentleman naturalist. Cool Worlds is my passion of the decade, my imaginary friend, my adoptive science, art & humanities family, my Greco-Roman time traveler Im still hoping will take me to Mars of the 2nd-century! Until take-off time, I'm inspired to read a lot and send some money to refugees and join every neighborhood committee that transforms the world, one wonderful astrophysical fact at a time. Who needs intelligent aliens from Proxima Centauri when Professor Kipping lives here on Earth!
Don't blame the internet, blame yourself. No one forces you to waste time on "wastelands". I will never have enough time in my life to see and read all the amazing insightful content on the internet. It's all here, you just have to go to the right places, and avoid the "wastelands". Watch Cool Worlds, PBSeons, Microcosmos, Astrum, Fraiser Caine, History of the Universe, Fall of civilizations, Invicta, North 02, Veritasium, and literally thousands more.

.. hah oh please .. Lex believed in conspiracy theories .. a conspiratard .. he believed in the ever so silly 'US Govt and NASA's hiding information on extra-terrestrial alien'
@@finalfandy4766 so why are you here, watching his podcast?
Omg, I love Prof Kipping and Cool Worlds!! Before even listening I know this is gonna be one of my fav episodes.
His channel is dope

Next JRE
I’ve watched/listened to almost all of Lex Fridman (and the great eps, many many times). This one’s going on the Mount Rushmore…..David’s an amazing guy and has a great channel…incredible episode!

David's eloquent command of the english language for his explanations of concepts is very inspiring! Fascinating interview!
Lex, I am really loving the graphics that you are adding over parts of the conversation. These animations really help the technical material become intuitive to those who do not have a background in the field.
This is unbelievable. Seeing my two favorite persons on the internet together is just.. wow.
Just read & see not a troll comment you see what a credible source of formation you provide
This podcast plays at night by itself
Cool Worlds is the Shiznit!!! This guy's voice is so calming. Way to go Lex!!!
Your podcast is amazing. I’m so glad Joe helped introduce you to the world (or at least to me).
Well that was an unfortunate choice of word to use caps on lol. Should be " your podcast is AMAZING" no?
@@iluvatarchem that was an autocorrect thing lol
While Joe certainly helped, Lex has been around in his own right well before the Joe interactions.
I really liked Kippings short lecture on why life might be extremely rare. You should definitely, definitely watch that lecture
Professor Kipping, thank you for Cool Worlds Lab. Incredible work.
You too, Lex!

Yes my favorite UA-cam people and a brand new conversation lasting 3 hrs 45 minutes jackpot!! Thank you both so much!
This has to be your best podcast ever. Great guest. So informative and brilliant questions asked.
I’ve never been more excited for a podcast
I've got to say he's like the most watchable guy to listen to in terms of explaining science and the nuances on why certain fringe ideas don't hold enough water. This is one of the most enjoyable episodes of yours Lex. Thanks!
Such an inspiring and clever discussion. When Prof Kipping smiles you want to smile with him and you feel his excitement. An absolute pleasure to watch!
Life is all over the place.
Professor Kipping is someone I would listen to on your podcast many times. He’s truly an extraordinary person
Thanks for inviting professor Kipping. His take on alien life and colonization of Mars in particular, among others, exactly matches mine. I have huge respect for people that love what they do and can talk about it in such an engaging and passionate way. I wish I could have a conversation like this with him.
There are already colonies on Mars (from Earth). Secret Space Programs are very real!
I love Lex's alien life and biology podcasts! They are simply the best. Thankyou Lex, from Leicester UK
@@frankwillow-rogersjr.3253 LOL. He's delusional. He can prove nothing, it's just vain conjecture.
@@dhans7673 The real red-pill is when you realize that they weren't wrong, they were lying.
not sure how logical it is to conclude all these things from 1 pixel....

Lex, you are the best. Your graciousness, quality of content, knowledge, and spirit. Hands down, magnificent! Thank you.
Lex is one of my best Friends without knowing him. This man enriches my Life experience on earth a lot.
Specially enjoyed the Podcast with your dad.
Where is that episode?
Praying for Davids illumination, and revelation, and that he personally encounters the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Best Lex episode. Love the level-headed thinking Prof Kipling brings to combine with Lex’s hopeful excitement. Fun episode.
This may be your best podcast! Loved it! Thank you😊
wow so glad you had david on...please have him more! Cool Worlds youtube channel really stokes your imagination. im a huge fan, this is fascinating
It's easy, I see Lex Fridman + aliens, I play click. Nearly 4 hours of podcasting, count me in!
too bad this is all psuedoscience, anyone that believes we have rovers on mars has to be brainwashed.
Exactly

💯
people replace religion with belief in extraterrestrials to satisfy their faith
Please do more podcasts with astronomers. Mr Kipping is definitely one of the best guests you have had on the show
They both create the spark 😊
Well this is definitely in the top 5 Lex Clips of all time, both very calm, calculated and intelligent
And you got some unsolicited financial advice for your troubles.
However, I happen to agree with you, so have a thumbs up. If all human beings could sit thus and delve deep. We would solve many problems.
This isn’t the clip, it’s the whole damn podcast 😂
I’m so proud of humanity that 4.6M brilliant people have watched this podcast! 🥰
I am no intending to blow it for you, but I usually sleep with autoplay on. It is not the first time that I have woken up to this episode. Today I woke up like 15,20 minutes in i think :)

Such a good point. I'm starting to realise maybe there is more genius out there than I realised
You actually estimated how "much genius" is out there? I'll give you one thing: although I'm not sure how any person/group of people *could possibly* go about doing that, it would have been a rather unique endeavor.
I am grateful to have discovered two fantastic UA-camrs, two of my favorite people on UA-cam. Thank you for all the great content on your channels.
These dudes are dumb
Lex can get annoying with that sometimes
Grounded in bullshit and hyperbole.
It’s all a bunch of shit.
YESSSS I’ve wanted Prof. Kipping on for ages! This is gonna be a GREAT episode. So exited. Thank you Lex.
Excited. Unless you really are into leaving
agreed!
Same here!
Same here. He’s great.

This bloke’s fantastic. So so happy he’s on the podcast Lex.
Fantastic! As always Ross has me listening with my jaw open.
Great interview!!! I think a new episode of need to know will drop tomorrow. I can't wait!
That podcast is mind blowing, I love these conversations! I have just recently discovered David’s channel and now you having him as a guest, wow 🤩
It’s why coolworlds is such a great channel, it’s a scientific approach to really fantastical questions, and paradoxically this actually improves my wonder and hope

Hat down to you professor Kipping for the coherent knowledge you share so effortlessly with us, massive respect to you for the time well spent.
This is the best guest! Him and Professor Keating are the best! Please do part two soon with both of them! I can listen then for hours!
Two of the most inspiring youtubers getting together. I've learned so much from David and I'm glad you had him on!
I've listened to this podcast 4x, just because I've had it on passively. David Kipping explains in such eloquent, and charismatic detail
God bless you and your work Lex. Rarely came across questions that are so interestingly in-depth with a conversation so properly extended, fulfilling and soothing. My body is asleep but my mind is much more stimulated than it was at the gym.

Cool Worlds is an Amazing UA-cam channel that professor Kipping runs. Great storytelling, along with high-level astrophysics and astronomy.
Just wanted to say thank you for enriching my mind. You both are two of the brightest minds that I am incredibly grateful for
The perfect video doesn't exi.... oh, it does! And it's almost 4 hours long. Thank you both!!
I had made a comment on one of Cool World's videos 8 months ago that I would absolutely love an interview of David on your podcast, that David actually reacted to, and to see it happen is amazing. What a wonderful and thoughtful conversation. I hope he returns to the podcast in the future.

Nearly 4 hrs of discussions with David kipping 🥳 Christmas has come early, David is awsome
One minute you watch a new cool worlds episode and the next minute lex surprises you with a Prof. Kipping Interview. Thanks to both of you.
I've been watching Professor Kipping for a couple years now on the Cool Worlds channel and have known of him for much longer than that and he is one hell of an awesome guy.
Kipping - 4-ый гость, увиденный мной, - спасибо наитию - Божественно зрячь... На голову выше, в виденье (по моему "скромному" разумению), других ГЕНИЕВ! искреннее восхищение

i have noticed falling asleep with lex's podcast whiel i sleep i can still hear them talk and no one never screams its so niceee! try it
Lex's podcast is my go-to
to fall asleep to, also Sam Harris and Neil DeGrasse Tyson
Sometimes Alan Watts
I immensely enjoyed listening to David Kipping's coherent and perfectly agnostic outlook. Thank you.
Bravo!
Lex was born to do these interviews!
Lex Fridman did film this episode in a holiday Inn express last night.
Yes!! But before the interview they wrestled a sword fight. But neither brought a brush to use before the interview.
I could fall asleep listening to Lex Fridman and David Kipping's voices every night.
Literally same.
What a surprise, one of my favourite channels on UA-cam. Lex is always on point.
What a stimulating conversation. Love it! Way to go Lex! Best interviews for learning new concepts and always staying curious!
Kipping is my favorite in this particular genre. He's awesome af.
This is awesome! Been watching Cool Worlds for a while and it's always top notch stuff, so glad you had him on!
Les sure does now have a fascinating catalogue of ultra well informed guests, who are generally so skilled communicators.
Been on a binge of cool worlds videos lately what an unexpected and awesome collaboration.
This has to be the best informative channel around (loved the fission talks). Thanks for making this monster of goodness.
