I think the biggest impact Christopher had on my life is showing me that it is OK to express unpopular sentiments without remorse or self-censorship. Life is short. Eliminate as much bullshit as you can to live a life based on truth and reality. Thank you Christopher. Generations will benefit from your words. We will miss you always.

Loser, with Chris you just added to your BS.
Hitch who pretends to know the bible as he screws up on it over and over again including what faith means biblically.
--"Faith is the surrender of the mind, it's the surrender of reason, it's the surrender of the only thing that makes us different from other animals. It's our need to believe and to surrender our skepticism and our reason, our yearning to discard that and put all our trust or faith in someone or something, that is the sinister thing to me. ... Out of all the virtues, all the supposed virtues, faith must be the most overrated”-- Christopher Hitchens
Now, look at what biblical faith really means that Hitch the liar didn't even look at:
Biblically, faith means trust. It's a trust by evidence seen. God asks that we prove things. To reason. To get knowledge. To study. God has nothing to hide. We develop trust from what is seen, and that which is not seen yet is trusted also because of the trust built up from what is seen. It's much like a human relationship. We don't trust much until a person has gained that trust from what is observed. The difference is though, God is not limited to human powers. He created us.
Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

Hitchens always went into evasive word antics to avoid key questions like how we got the creation of the universe.
Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space, and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it.
We can't even get science without God. The laws of nature only can come from a Lawgiver, God.
Life only comes from life. Law of biogenesis.
God is the reason for us and all we have.

I remember when Hitchens recounted how his friends believed that his lifestyle wasn't good for him( this was a while before his terminal diagnosis, since Hitchens loved his cigarettes and his Johnny Walker Black), and one of his friends warned him that he was burning the candle at both ends, to which Hitchens replied- "Yes, I know, but it gives off such a magnificent glow."

he has touched many and continues to by placing himself in public the way he did
he's the father of evangelical atheism!
      Post Note
(evangelical means that you're spreading good news with intention to convert. muslims are evangelical, for eg. not to be pedantic but this word is often interpreted to just mean "christianity" but they don't get to define a word just bc it's greek.)

@@2fast2block you're a moron. sorry. but you are. i have a seminary degree and grew up as an mk/pk, was a youth minister, taught in a christian school for 7 yrs. masters from a catholic university, grew up indy baptist.
trust is not = to faith. the bible defines faith in absolute terms: faith is the substance of things hope for and the evidence of things not seen. faith = the substance of things one hopes for, faith itself is it's own evidence. basically "i believe that i believe"
it's nonsensical, it's a logical fallacy, and it's word salad.
faith is the evidence of faith? can't use the word being defined as the definition.
to run is defined as running. you see yet? those are analogies but the stripped down meaning is that faith demonstrates that things no one can witness actually exists.
think about that for a while. like weeks not minutes.
any god has never shown himself, there's a doctrine in christianity called the doctrine of Deus Absconditus: that god cannot be seen bc he's god. christianity actually acknowledges god cannot be witnessed. (deus absconditus means the god who hides/is hidden)
secondarily: to your thing about nature provides the evidence of god so that man is without excuse. this also violates christian doctrine that "no man comes to the father but through me" "i am the way the truth and the life" etc all the references to belief in christ is required to see god in heaven instead of burning in hell.
how could god hold man responsible for rejecting christ then? if christ is the only way, one cannot be held accountable for not knowing of christ through a pretty sunrise. one could have a notion of divinity and transcendence at a sunrise, but you can't know christ. sola christe much? sola scriptura much? through christ who is known by hearing the word of god?
faith comes by hearing. and hearing by the word of god.
if one cannot come to christ except the holy spirit call him, then a sunrise cannot fucking lead you to christ. or it would say "there's a couple of ways you can get to know god and not burn in hell - a sunrise, gazing at your dog, the trees, or by a calling of the holy spirit or hearing of christ in church, or just believing that christ exists and died and rose from the dead, we don't got proof yo, but if you believe some crazy stories or see a pretty sunrise, you're in.
so. you don't seem to know your bible either. or doctrine. or martin luther, or the apostle paul, much less christ. you can't defend logically the hope that is within you: hope meaning faith bc faith is the substance of hope and all.
come at me. i've read and studied the christian scriptures most of my life and you're barely graduated from sunday school... i've taught theology and doctrine. go home and read the fucking bible carefully taking copious notes and studying the theology and doctrine/dogmas of christianity. you've never considered the other side of the argument.
the ad hominems are bc your religion requires you to provide logical arguments to persuade me to re-believe in some ancient bullshit.
lastly: sorry: my concrete moment of deconversion after 18yrs of considering my faith and reasons for it, was when i read a psalm i was very unfamiliar with but it praised god beautifully and i thought "this must be a hymn of david im unfamiliar with!" when i came on the last line of the psalm "i give you praise lord zeus"
and i saw clearly that christianity is far from unique, there's a lack of education that perpetuates religion. education is the fucking antidote to the poison of religion.
      cheers.

I knew of him for a very long time, but more from television where he covered a lot of politics too, it's only after I signed up for a YT account that I ran into one of his debates against theists, and I binge watched for days!!! Daaaaaaaaaaaang, what a force majeure! I have probably seen most of them already, but still click on them every once in a while to watch again: Better than reruns of my favorite cartoons when I was young.

No, you're free of thinking like Hitch was a loser.

I watched his debate at Prestonwood Church streaming LIVE on the internet that evening. It was actually one of the most thrilling occasions of my life. When that stream of genius poured from his incredible mind near the end of the debate, I sat absolutely stunned in my chair for the longest time at what I had just heard. For me, the astounding beauty and humanity of those words spoken by the Hitch, far surpass even the emotion, intensity, and awe of any of the masterpieces by Rembrandt, van Gogh, or da Vinci. I had actually taken it upon myself to memorize that segment, word-for-word, so that I could share his brilliance with others, whenever and wherever such an opportunity might arise. Christopher Hitchens was indeed the greatest orator of my seven decades on this planet, and I will always be grateful of the fact that I'm so very fortunate to have lived during his time. I became an atheist in January of 2016, five years after Hitchens died. I had seen Hitchens on Bill O'Reilly's show. That was all I knew of him. I cried throughout this broadcast, b/c I didn't learn of his immense intellect until it was too late. I never even knew of the existence of Sam Harris or Daniel Dennett. I only had a surface level knowledge of Richard Dawkins. At the ripe old age of 60, I had to search out decent atheists, including you, Seth, in order to find my own authentic atheist voice. My indoctrination kept me away from knowledge so many take for granted. I was warned that getting close to anything secular put my soul in danger of an eternity in hell. I've spent the past (nearly) seven years playing catch-up to reality. Thank you for presenting this compilation of Christopher Hitchens.

Thank you Seth for this remembrance. I think that many apologists hope that his memory will fade away, his legacy be soon forgotten. My own brother was legal council for MT, and an "x" ( think of all the superlatives you know and lump them together ) supporter of hers, and considers Hitch ( in his own words ) " pond scum ". I found Hitch foundational in my deconversion and am so grateful to you for continuing his work.

I'm all for Hitch being shown. He a great example of a loser.

Christopher Hitchens' legacy is one that encourages us to question, to challenge, and to always seek the truth. His words continue to resonate, reminding us that in a world often clouded by ideology and misinformation, rationality and reason should remain our guiding lights. We are indebted to this brilliant mind, and his absence is deeply felt, but his ideas will forever light the way for those who seek enlightenment and freedom of thought.

There was a period where when I first recognized myself as atheist, I found a channel that stitched together voice clips from famous athiest speakers like Aron Ra, Matt Dillahunty, and Hitchens himself. I listened to so many of Christopher's speeches and clips during that time. His ability to speak rationally, eloquently, and thoughtfully brought so much to the discussion and his book God is Not Great is still relevant to the conversation some 10 years later.
