Plus Yahweh's efforts in hardening the Pharoah's heart against Moses and his people being released from slavery in Egypt...I thought Yahweh was supposed to be helping Moses, not hindering him...conclusion: Yahweh is a dick!

@@blackice9088 Plus Moses wins the magic contest over Pharaoh's priest but only because Yahweh did better miracles than the priest's god did. So Yahweh is not the only god, and not the only one who does magic on request.......... BTW, every pharaoh had a name but the OT didn't bother to say which one he was.

Wouldn't the Sabboth stick-collecting start an infinite feedback loop where those who stone the dude to death then have to be put to death by more people picking up stones, etc, etc. Sort of like a Biblical nuclear fission that gets way out of control.

Same. I heard all the cute manger stories and stories about tithing over and over, though. "STORIES" became the key word when the church started using "stories" instead of testimonies. They called testimonies "stories," and one day, it hit me - just like tbat- as all bullshit. "WHAT if you looked at Yaweh's,ASS?" 😂😂

What's even more horrifying is that the Bible/Gospels are really about mocking the cannibalsim of a crushed Jewish rebellion by the Roman Empire where a woman named Mary is starving, while under seige in Jerusalem during the Roman-Jewish war of 66AD -73AD, is mocked for eating her son.

The OT especially always bothered me yet I kept it to myself & even wouldn't read or listen to the OT. With what has happened in my church since 2016 I had to leave. A bunch of whining bigots! The 2016 election revealed who the ppl of the church really are and I want no part. It's only been recently I've made a effort to face my questions and admit I have always doubted..I'm just at the start of all this (facing the real truth that God is Not Real) and it's stripping away all I thought life was. I was raised Southern Baptist, later in a Christian group in college with almost caused me to commit suicide. Later some experience in the IBLP. It's overwhelming right now.

Soit is a reanimate dead spell??? 😆
One of my favorite parts to point out about the Jesus story is his going to the temple and cleansing it. Where he mak s the crude whip and begins to beat people with it..It is specific on who he hits and drives out.
Primarily the one I laser focus onto is that of the tax collector's. By Roman law a tax collector is a Roman Official. Under Roman law it is clearly stated that striking any Roman Official is guilty by penalty of death...more specific penalty of death by crucifixion.
The story is specific..after he beat these people and assaulted them he fled.. he fled when the Roman guard came to arrest him. He fled and escaped.. he ran away..
This jesus character was a criminal and it was after this incident that you will find other examples of the Roman guards attempting to find him and arrest him. It is after this incident that it is made mention several times to arrest him but he again keeps fleeing or running away.
This jesus character was a criminal..the story plainly tells that he is. He was wanted as a criminal. The story is only told from one side of the story..as most are. They of course skip over the part that it was illegal for him to strike a Roman Official.. and the penalty for it is not mentioned either.. I wonder why it is soo one sided?
I do believe that if this jesus character was in at any means a real live person to any degree.. historical or not... It would be this reason why they sought to arrest him and try him and kill him under Roman law. He was a criminal..a common criminal..like so many others.

Well Seth, I think we both know that most writers can come up with a smarter character than Yahweh! Too many cooks spoil the soup, and the ones who concocted Yahweh started with a simple roasted meat, and over time with each cook adding several ingredients without ever tasting the results, he evolved into a dreadful mess of indistinguishable nasty tasting muck, no one in their right mind would even consider tasting, let alone even go near! The smell from far away is already enough of a deterrent!

I have thought exactly the same thing. Both feel commanded by god to create a nation by using violence against those they consider are going against gods will. The thing is, both have the same amount of evidence for having divine authority for their atrocities, none. So many people either praise or at least understand the stories of ancient Israelites atrocities while condemning ISIS merely because of the religion and the difference of time.

Raised Catholic, could have become Mormon during early high school
Remembered a couple of doozies in Sunday school.
    - bishop or senior fellow remarked dead panned in teaching session "That without members Religion dies"
Few moments where they cut the fantasy BS and stated an in your face truth to the class.
I guess he may have been preparing us for missionary work later on.
    - An elder (early 20s) came up with an adhoc explanation, which I'm very sure it was just his own, why women were not Bishops (in Mormonism at the time) because "admittedly??" - "women were pure and it was not essential for them to be in such roles, where as for males since they were more sinful had to take these positions of authority"
Like it's some form of atonement or leading them in a necessary "correcting path" or something.

Seth, I would like to point out what many people don't think about. When you say, "The Bible says X... then it says Y..." we should be mindful that the first passage is probably not written by the same person the second was, either due to the time difference or personal philosophy of the scribes. Not to mention their individual mental oddities. So it's not the least surprising that the entire collection has major, frequent inconsistencies. Authors didn't expect their works to be compared with others; indeed, many authors intended their versions to replace earlier ones. The concept of a monolithic work was not uppermost in their minds. You can see this quite clearly in the New Testament gospels -- later works tended to elaborate, enhance, and even "correct" earlier ones. It's not God disagreeing with Himself; it's multiple scribes' differing points of view.

Did he kill and/or capture 100 people, and remove them all himself; got done and was having so much fun that he decided to go for seconds, or did he make them remove each other's forskins under threat of deat because after all team work makes the dream work...

Missing Sunday school can be disastrous: what all Eastern Orthodox presbyteras, priest’s wife, would say. Alas, the general-culture stereotyping of Christianity (evangelical youth, *do* miss Sunday school: yEc and AGW rejection).
"The fear of Hell," from pulpits:
    a. Today's biblical exegesis. In the mainline Protestant Churches-the slim majority within North America, old-Earth creationism, btw-there is not a fiery Hell.
    1. So too, non-believers are not sent to "an eternal punishment in a lake of fire."
    2. Pascal's wager is "so 1600s," an outdated idiom. The depiction of the Forbidden Fruit as an apple and the characterization of a Hell, are from Medieval Europe; the more correct biblical exegesis, is hell as 'the grave.'
    3. Until the sixth century that was a fringe doctrine; most of the churches and catechetical schools did not believe in eternal conscious torment of the damned.
    4. _The Far Side_ cartoons on it are only a little younger than the modern evangelical Christian description of Hell.
    b. The (Genesis) Talking Serpent or a Devil personified is an allegory, to "The evil that is in the world;" institutional disorder, dysfunction.[Gerhard von Rad]
Rather than the personification of the Devil. There is the existence of demons.
