- Have you ever noticed how devout believers claiming safety and victory are ALWAYS freaking out about Satan, dark forces, and evil conspiracy? We explore this contradiction.
Religion is so embarrassing for those of who know better, the cringe is palpable
In Christian mythology, God made humanity evil and broken and commanded them to repent under the threat of hell. -- Christopher Hitchens
Thank you for this comment. It reminds me that there is a chain of solidarity that though not yet finally linked, is very real. It runs through many different people and cultures. I hope one day the last of its links will be cinched together to form a single chain of reality, with all of its nuances intact, from the least of us to the greatest. I hope that by then the least of us and the greatest of us will be equal in our needs being met without the interference of competition and greed.
Some Christians are like I was in the sense that they believe in a god but they do not believe that God is evil. I was wrong, they are wrong. God was neither evil nor good. God was not an entity but a construction of our own individual imaginations. The only good or evil were the individuals themselves. Some people are good in the sense that they are useful to their fellow man. In my case, most that I encountered were indifferent, inactive. A few would actually offer a hand where they could help but between the indifferent and narcissists, sociopaths and psychopaths, nothing was ever accomplished. Not in my lifetime. I hope one day the good in mankind will rise up and do what is necessary to either gain or keep their freedom and properly deal with these narcissists, socios and psychos in their place permanently, as they are discovered in society: out of society, for the sake of society.
Thanks again for reminding us that we are not alone in our individual caves. Science has heard our prayers where a non-existent god could not. Science is answering.
I miss Hitch so much
That's correct.
Almighty God can have anything he wants.
So if He wanted love and peace
there would be no hatred or war.

Agree… as Seth mentions it’s so liberating when looking back.
SATAN! because without a scapegoat you might have to take personal responsibility for your own actions.
Anything "not christian" is a threat to these people, because they are not sufficiently secure in their belief.

They're just mad that their imaginary friend doesn't talk back to them...

It's like what the protagonist in my favorite game told this asshole that was harassing her.
"Confidence is quiet, you're not."
Jesus never really said anything profound or original. It’s just fortune cookie crap.
‘Not Christian’ means ‘you disagree with my ignorance and bigotry’ only.
That woman had a great point about gaslighting. When we question our own sanity we get soothing words and a fictional enemy to blame. When we calm down we are made to believe that technically it is we who are guilty. That could be why those people see “devils” everywhere. They ARE going insane and taking people down with them.
Rick Wiles: "What if Islamic jihadists were hiding digital demons using Pokemon Go, and they were using an app to target Christian churches with missiles?"
Sounds an awful lot like a 5-year-old's "What if we were zombie pirate ninja princesses and we have to rescue the puppy from the bad dogcatcher who has a puppy exploding app?!"
That woman at the start with the invocation should take a note from her own Bible Matthew 6: 5-7.
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
The person that wrote this is saying that prayer is useless
but go ahead and pray anyway
but don't pray like the hypocrites or babble on like pagans.
This man made book is full of this kind of rubbish

Just one of the many ways that Chritians totally ignore Jesus.
That woman trying to force her religious invocation has absolutely no business being there or holding any kind of leadership position. She's effectively admitting that she has no clue how to _be_ a leader because she doesn't think people are anything more than idiot children who need Sky Daddy to tell them what to do. It's a complete insult to everybody.

@@kellydalstok8900
Likely, the one god/gawd is the Ram God Zeus Ammon. This "God" is the constellation Aries. Feel free to call him Jupiter Ammon. Remember Melchizedek? This is two words of King and Jupiter. There is also Messiah which is son of Jupiter and this is the sun in conjunction with Aries at the spring equinox. The Elohim, in the Tenach, means Ram Suns. In the Beginning (at the spring equinox) Ram "created" Heaven and Earth. Other creation myths have Goat creating Heaven and Earth.
I agree completely....this woman should not be holding a government position. Get the beliefs out of the way and worry about the people....
Christofascists are so predictable.
Christians…
1) Why doesn’t your gawd just destroy the devil?
2) Why did your gawd allow the devil to materialize?
3) Since you claim your gawd created everything, then he created the devil.
4) You claim your gawd is all knowing (past, present, future), all omnipotent, all powerful, so at the very least gawd knew the devil would become to be.
Again more examples of none of this making any sense.
So who created The Devil? Or the idea of The Devil? Man himself with his creative mind.
works good for stories to scare children!
Religion is very good at scaring people. That and guilt tripping.😂
@@dragowolfraven3806 they have to use fear and guilt tripping. Its not like they can use logic.
The same ones who created god in their own image.
Ask theGreat Wizard of Oz since you don’t have a brain, a heart, or courage.
A few years ago I heard a holy roller say that he preferred family friendly movies like The Wizard of OZ, not realizing that that movie was an intentionally subversive attack on religion. The yellow brick road being a religious pilgrimage to get favors from a god (OZ) only to find out that OZ (god) is merely a timid wizard (priest) projecting an image on our brains to control us, and that the pilgrims had what they wanted all along and that they didn't need OZ (god).
All that E.T. shit reminds me of what Hitch used to say -- and I'm paraphrasing here: "If someone wants to precariously prop a step ladder on their toilet to get a look out their window at what their neighbors are doing so they can be offended, then that's on them"
If you have to pray to God for the strength and wisdom to govern, then you are admitting a lack of confidence in your own ability and competence to govern and should therefore step down.
Makes sense to me:
1. Satan takes his orders from his all powerful Boss.
2. Satan's Boss can force free will upon you at any moment or revoke free will at any moment.
3. Satan's Boss can also end global suffering any time he feels like it.
Christians do not agree. They offer complicated reasons why Satan's Boss cannot do the right thing by his creations
which is why I am an apostate.
Typical "Christian" prayer to St. Justin Really: "I just, uh, really want to, uh, praise you, Lord, because you're just really so, uh, incredibly huge...we're all really impressed here, I tell you."
You should see my dad say grace. It's been the same prayer for decades, like he memorized it and is repeating it rote. No thankfulness in his voice whatsoever.
@@kevinramsey417 When I hear things like that I have to wonder if a doubt or two has started to creep in but he isn't ready to acknowledge them, because my uncle is a retired preacher and he still gives grace like he is in the pulpit.

Knowing life a bit, Satan is the least thing we have to worry about...
God creates an angel with the free will to disobey him.
The angel disobeys him and god turns him into a devil/serpent
The devil/serpent tempts Eve to disobey god.
God punishes Eve and the serpent and curses future generations of humans.
After a long time God is sorry for the curse and commits suicide so he can remove it.

if i say "mad scientist", you think of like... Frankenstein, Jekyll and Hyde... you might be able to think of unethical scientists, but it's hard to think of a scientist who COMPLETELY lost the plot of reality on direct account of practicing science.
But if I say "religious nut", you're not thinking of a fictional character anymore. In fact, some of you are thinking of someone you saw in church last Sunday. And it's obvious. Even if you're not, realize how reasonable this assumption is - it's not a non-sequitur, you're not thinking "wait, what is he talking about?" You get the satire, it makes complete sense. If you must, just sub in followers of another religion and it becomes super clear.

Never heard it put this way. Love your comment. Got me thinking and yes it does make sense.
Stuff like starting a community council meeting with a prayer is unheard of in most - if not all - other western democracies. Yet they are doing just fine, or at least not worse than the US. Especially the percentage of actually unethical behaviour as violent crimes is lower than in the US in basically all other places. So the well-being of a community can't be as dependent on prayers in council meetings as these extremists think.

I don't know how Christians explain the double standard of that magic bad, but Narnia and LotR good. It seems similar to my parents claim that playing Doom and killing demons is honoring the devil, but playing Call of Duty and killing nazis is fine.
The Chronicles of Narnia was written by C.S Lewis, a famous Christian apologist, and the book had very obvious Christian themes in it.
My daughter took dance lessons, ballroom and Latin, as a teenager. The teacher would always tell the pupils to narrow the gap between the pairs, because “no one ever got pregnant from dancing”. Needless to say this remark led to much giggling and embarrassment.

Just a counterpoint to the whole "no-contact dancing" thing. My mum taught primary school (P6-P7), my dad is an award-winning ballroom dancer. So when it came time to teach the kids how to dance (this was in Scotland in the Sixties; a certain amount of competency at basic dances was part of the curriculum) my mum drafted my dad in as an assistant.
Of course, being a bunch of pre-teen boys and girls, the prevailing mood of "boys/girls are icky" was strong, so the kids would attempt to dance waltzes with a protective layer of fresh air between them. This was of course unacceptable to my parents. So my dad brought in some of his "precious" 78s (as in vinyl records), put one between the chests of each partner, and said "if you allow those to drop on the floor, they'll break, and I'll be very unhappy".
The kids learned to dance properly, in full contact with their partners, pretty soon after that.

Wizards of the Coast later scrubbed some of the art in later editions to remove any references to the occult (eg: Unholy Strength or Demonic Tutor). The difference being atheists realize it's all fun and games. Theists can not comprehend imagination because it would invalidate their very beliefs....
The bit about Pokemon Go and finding items in churches made me giggle. If Christians actually believe that it's a covert method of hiding demons in the walls of churches, why not tear down the churches and therefore eliminate the threat (or hiding place for these "demons", in this case)? In this day and age, the only possible reason I can come up with for people to devote themselves to such gullibility is either a lack of purpose in their own lives or the desire to exert control over others.
