There was a Greek playwright (Aeschylus) that is said to have been killed when an eagle dropped a tortoise on his bald head, mistaking him for a rock. Whether the tale is true or not is another thing, but my guess is that was what Karl read/heard and decoded it to be his Plato story.
That was in a book i've got on unusual deaths, in the comical death section. My guess is Karl heard part of it and his brain re-assessed it to a bird dropping it's egg on Plato.
There are birds that steal eggs from nests and drop them from a height to crack them open and eat the inside, I'm guessing he got the 2 mixed up somehow.

Love your reactions to these! Your idea about Karl checking out the doctor naked while washing dishes so he'd feel like his exam was giving him back a little was hilarious!
Karl got a little bit confused about Plato dying from an egg. It was Aeschylus who died from an eagle which dropped a tortoise on his head, it's a way the birds break open the tortoise's shell, presumably it mistook Aeschylus' head for a rock. I wish the thing about birds breaking eggs to let their kids out was true 🤣

Okay so this is one of those moments where I have repeated word for word what Karl said I can't remember the exact convo but my housemate at uni was talking about evolution and mentioned 'eyes facing forward' and my mind went straight to 'we never had eyes facing into our head' Now, I stick-by that being a reasonable response. To add a further strange twist to the death of Aeschylus, Roman author Pliny, suggested that Aeschylus had been spending a lot of time outdoors to avoid a prophecy that he would be killed by a falling object. @@EaterOfBaconSandwiches again .. they are not 'part of our evolution like opposable thumbs' are. I didn't say it wasnt important. I said not the same. Our immune system is important and without it there wouldn't be humans. Opposable thumbs are unique to us amongst the primates Therefore, forward facing eyes are not a part of our evolution like opposable thumbs are. They are distinct. But to say 'opposable thumbs is when we sawed! It's part of our evolution like forward facing eyes' does suggest opposable thumbs and forward facing eyes are both traits we acquired to become modern humans. Kids roaming free etc but also back in them days a sense of community that had been lost in other normal private housing estates, plenty of characters.
Flashing is an odd reaction to seeing someone naked through their window but I think it's unfair that they mocked him for it. I think it's quite sweet that he thought he "should give her a bit back", instead of just looking away and pretending nothing happened, it's like he thought he did something wrong and wanted to make amends for it. It's not what I'd think to do in that situation but it's stil wholesome that he thought he needed to repay the woman. It's an awkward thing to do but there's a kind of innocence behind it.
It wasn’t Plato and it wasn’t an egg. Eagles drop tortoises on the ground to crack them open. There’s an apocryphal story that one of the early Greek philosophers was killed by being hit by a falling tortoise.

On a completely different note, but an Argentinian one: if Messi wins the World Cup this year, the final will be his 1000th career game. Again, irrelevant to this video but couldn't resist writing this.
Karl actually did end up getting a protate exam in one radio episode, where Ricky brought a doctor in to basically explain everything and do the test right there. I think Karl did admit afterwards it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be.
@@wittyreviewer They started their campaign trying to make it happen back in the XFM days and spoke about it nonstop for years, so the confusion is completely understandable.

5:10 I watched a feature film yesterday which was partly filmed in my city, with the rest filmed in surrounding towns and cities, where one of the lead White characters pissed on his own right hand on purpose, and told his mate to do the same, as he knew they would be shaking hands with some Asians a few minutes later. I later realised that the actor had a surname I recognised (and a first name which I faintly recognised too from street sign graffiti), as being a surname associated with violent crime in my city. So I Googled his name, and found that he is from my city, and was sent to prison for 5 years in 2006, for hospitalising a man with a samurai sword attack.
@@MandyCaneLane I've since checked out the rest of the credits for that film, and saw another surname of another crime family from my city... That second credited guy got 2 years in prison for multiple counts of burglary and crashing one of the cars he stole. Some of his family members have done much worse crimes like acid attacks and murder. That's at least 2 criminals employed by that feature film.
this helps prove to me that the theory of evolution is so incorrect. you want to know how? so then they're saying before we evolved with a thumb we just had four fingers. we've always been like this, jus sayin

Ah, the good ol' Hobo Hairwash...
🤢😖😵
it was a tortoise the bird mistook his bald head for a rock
They definitely do get better Mandy
So excited Jake! 🤗
Ricky almost said "top hat" instead of "hard hat".
On a completely different note, but an Argentinian one: if Messi wins the World Cup this year, the final will be his 1000th career game. Again, irrelevant to this video but couldn't resist writing this.
Lol! That is actually mega impressive! 👏🏻👏🏻
Big birds of prey drop bones from a big hight to break them on stones so they can access the marrow. Maybe the egg story got mixed up with that.
Good theory Gunnar 🙌🏻😂
Ricky needs to get out more. Cobblers are everywhere; we have 3 in my town. And a toffee/sweet shop.
Karl must live in your town 😂😅
@@MandyCaneLane Haha I wish.
Cracking Mandy, nice one
Thank you 🤗
The diary is a feature in this show. In later episodes
It starts in the next episode
😂😂😂. Great reaction as always 🇺🇾👏👏👏
Thank you Antony!! 🙌🏻🌈🤗
Is it a coincidence that now that Halloween is over, you don't look like Mandy the Vampire in this video 😉Love you Mandy...greetings from the UK
Lol, no idea 🤷🏻♀️🤪
Karl actually did end up getting a protate exam in one radio episode, where Ricky brought a doctor in to basically explain everything and do the test right there. I think Karl did admit afterwards it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be.
It's in an episode of An Idiot Abroad, not the radio show. Might be considered a spoiler since she's watching it.
Oh well 🤷🏻♀️
@@MandyCaneLane
Noooo you got here first. Eh, gives you something to look forward to :)
@@BunniMonster Oh, could have sworn it was another radio thing. My mistake.
@@wittyreviewer
They started their campaign trying to make it happen back in the XFM days and spoke about it nonstop for years, so the confusion is completely understandable.
Hi 😊❤
Mandy, I think you're a bit sweet on Karl. It'll never work out; he'd drive you barmy in real life.
Lol, I am good. I already got my soulmate 🤗 Karl is just fun to watch 🤪
@@MandyCaneLane Good to hear. It would be funny if you two met in real life, though. He'd just stand there looking at you with that gormless expression on his face, and you wouldn't be able to stop laughing!
Like your gauntlets
Thank you 🤗
If Karl came to Argentina for any reason filming etc, and you noticed him in the streets. How would you react and what would you do or say?
I am not one to care about celebrities in the slightest, I would be very surprised to see him here and excited that I recognize him and maybe snap a pic from far away so people would believe me. Wouldn't want to bother him though 😅😅
Argentina?! You have a perfect American accent 👍
I am American 🤭
@@MandyCaneLane Oh Ok 😂
Just saw the video of the man peeing in the street. Probably why he has gone bald, nothing to do with genetics. 😅
Why would you willingly watch it? 😅😅
😮 That was a wild read Daniel!
I just feel Karl is a Lad he very much reminds me of my best mate my Brother Lol Just knows where his from going to tell you the way he sees it!
Skip to the diary ones? Why would you skip any of these??? Don't skip any. Who suggested that?
Don't worry, I won't
this helps prove to me that the theory of evolution is so incorrect. you want to know how? so then they're saying before we evolved with a thumb we just had four fingers. we've always been like this, jus sayin
Please do more karl thankssss
..Why ARE they a different color??
Love your videos but it bothers me how small your sips of water are
Lmaoooo! I had too many close calls on spit takes, so I gotta be fast and time them well 😂😂😂
@@MandyCaneLane haha a spit take would be hilarious content, stay hydrated x
Winston Churchill wasn't a decent bloke lol
Oh, the ol' pee hair swish. A lot of men do that, it's all about efficiency.
Speak for yourself 😂
"alot"?? nah fella i think you are projecting there.
Maybe just Zoidberg? 😂
Did you hear that Gervais recently copied a joke from one of the UK's most loved comedians, James Corden?
It was about guitar lessons. Terrible business. I hope Mr Corden can be the bigger man and forgive him.
James Corden copied Ricky Gervais joke you mean to say
@@EaterOfBaconSandwiches Corden is a comedian, as well as an actor & chat show host. He's awful at all those things.
Doesn't joke stealing happen ALL THE TIME in the world of comedians though? I have heard the same jokes from many different people before. 🤷🏻♀️
@@MandyCaneLane Yes, they're not copyrighted. It's ridiculous to claim that jokes are stolen. In many cases, the first comedian to use a joke publicly previously heard it from someone who's not famous.
@@EaterOfBaconSandwiches How would a stand-comedian prove he wrote a joke?
I'm pretty sure if karl was american he'd have come from a trailer park
Lol! Agreed 😂😂
At work and just seen this pop up ahhhh can’t wait to watch it when I get home nice n cozy with snacks to watch my 2 favs Mands and Pilky 🙈♥️
Hope your work day has been light! 🙌🏻
@@MandyCaneLane It was good thank youuu 🤗🤗
