I went through a long period of listening to their podcast to fall a sleep too, You go to sleep with a smile , A lovely way to enter the land of nod :) , Have it at a low enough volume that you have to listen and you'll just drift off. ... Also Rickys Deadly Sirius podcast is brilliant !
When I first discovered those XFM shows, I used to listen to them when I got in bed. Defo did NOT send me to sleep 😆 Some of them had me crying with laughter, ended up with damp pillows 😂 I recommend you listen to them too, there's no spoilers because they all came before the other stuff. Anyway great reaction to this one 😆
Karl seems to think that someone got a bucket of sand from the beach, brought it home and after a long weekend of experimenting they invented the first computer chip.
I've used those channels you mentioned at the end for YEARS to fall asleep. Has to be more than a decade. Not every single night but probably 7-8 in every 10 nights I have it on. It does sometimes still have me laughing in bed even having heard it all so many times.
I used to go to sleep listening to the XFM radio show and there's some fantastic compilations of karl's little features. There's 'Educating Ricky' where every week he'd just give them three random interesting facts, as you'd probably imagine, horribly/barely researched... There's Rockbusters which was a music competition, he gives you initials and a VERY Karl Pilkington cryptic clue to guess the artist... Ricky & Steves social media pages are still full of people reciting quotes and answers from these. It'd be cool to see you try one of these, just do it in like 30 min chunks or something.
I've listened to the podcasts at bedtime for years. After a while, you hear them so many times it's just like background noise. But they help me sleep 😂 Once you've done all these mandy and done an idiot abroad/moaning of life, you've got to do the original XFM podcasts. I've only seen one other person react to them. They're where you'll truly get to know Karl, his upbringing, Susan, and his family. Then you'll understand a bit more why he is like he is 😂😂😂

And mightn’t you accidentally flip the switch while bumping uglies? 🤣 Yeah I know, that’s such a Karl statement, and I’m owning it! 26:50 yeah he’s looking round like: “I don’t know what you’re laughing at, it *is* easier to move the head, isn’t it?” G 😊
you don't have to listen to Xfm at night, Mandy😂 Ricky's laugh out of balance, will wake you the f' up! Its good for context though, and some of their dialogue is better than anything you've heard from them. recommend it👌
Amazing reaction as always - I have a lot of catching up to do with your videos. I think Karl talking about his perfect animal "sliding up the wall" has to be my favourite bit of the whole show - kills me every time 😂 Hope you're doing well Mandy! 😄
This one was more mixed than I remembered tbh. But all the animated series are mixed from the podcasts. Similar topics from different podcasts being moved to make a more coherent theme for the animated show. The podcasts themselves are lightly planned as well. Most of the questions they ask Karl here have been asked before in the XFM radio show. I don't think there is a script as such, but for the vast majority of the questions they ask Karl here they already know the answer and that it's gonna be entertaining. I am one of the people who sleep to the old radio shows and podcasts. It works really well! Once you been through the list once or twice it's less "fall off the bed"-funny and more just entertaining enough to not get bored to death in complete silence while struggling to sleep.
The Dodo thing is said to be true by sources. They trusted humans at first because they never harmed them before, but the invaders came and killed them for food sometimes and because they thought they were stupid for not being scared like other animals. They only ate them if they had to because it is said they tasted bad but it was mainly the rats that hitched a ride on their boats that were an invasive species that killed the Dodo. It didn't take long it is said for the Dodo to be scared of humans once the invaders killed a good number of them which is sad. A nice trusting bird that didn't bother them killed by idiot euro invaders and the diseases and invasive species they brought along. BTW, the rats ate their eggs/offspring because before they came, they didn't need to be able to protect their offspring and rats spread and multiply too fast for something like that to be able to adapt to that problem.

Great episode and reaction. Well, you can draw... would you be up to drawing your perfect animal? :) Every time we get into Karl's mind, it's always a wondrous journey into the unknown. I used to listen to all their XFM stuff every night to get to sleep. It was possible because I'd heard them all so many times, I knew what was coming. The only difficult part was having the volume set at a low level enough where you would still hear them, yet still low enough that when Ricky laughed, it didn't shock you back into consciousness. Ricky's loud laugh eventually meant I had to move onto something else. So I went with old time Brit comedy like Dad's Army and Steptoe & Son.
Haven't drawn anything in a long time. But I am not even sure where to start with the perfect animal. 🤔 Always loved dragons though, and wouldn't change a thing on them 🤓🤪

17:12 Because it’s funny, if they have a normal discussion and don’t poke fun at the weirdness of his suggestions then that’s not going to be too entertaining of a podcast
Instead of a physical switch maybe some kind of conscious switch - too many of the body's functions are automatic/subconsciously regulated. Why can't they find a way to choose which of the body functions are automatic.
I think they could try and find a way of turning off the automatic system to produce sperm and turn it on again but the amount of research and funding it would require when condoms pretty much work 99.9% of the time with zero repercussions (like side effects, hormone imbalance issues etc) would be daft. I know 'the pill' isn't ideal with the kind of effects it has on womens bodies, but I imagine having some kind of implant that can control your reproductive system would cause a lot more problems.
Hahahaha Mandy Steve was being ironic, as in, yeah I drive long distances, that would work for me *wink* *wink*, but Karl is very much not joking here. Yes. Thank you for your concern. I have been to a doctor this week. It has to do with my asthma. Also we are in the middle of a very windy Autumn, so the cough might stick around a bit longer.
Thanks for the "more importantly" welcome to this reaction. That is, I'm a Karl Pilkington fan. I was a bit taken back with Karl's concept of the 'perfect animal.' I mean, no legs and slug juice? He's usually never stuck for an idea.

Very often I fall asleep with something playing on UA-cam and when I wake up, I can hear Karl because it autoplayed a full like 10 hour compilation right after so Karl is now my impromptu alarm clock. Do you guys get Blue Peter or even did you guys get a version of Blue Peter? It was like a children’s show way back in the day I think it’s still going to be honest
@@MandyCaneLane nahh it’s like a kids tv show thing that like everyone in my generation at least used to watch. Unfortunately the closest thing we have to mr Rodger’s is Jimmy Saville 🙄 mr Rogers is proper nice though, I’m just glad for the American people that he didn’t turn out to be the same way as it really upset. A lot of people watch Jimmy Savile did
The problem with this show is that a lot of it is recycled stories from the xfm days which was a lot more spontaneous and hilarious the first time round. Also they're edited down and miss some of the funniest moments.
I thought Ricky had a point with having a ribcage as extra protection around your balls until I realised, imagine breaking the bone right in front of your balls. Say you were in a crash or an awkward fall and you break those bones as well as take the impact on the balls. I cannot even begin to describe the level of pain that would cause. Like imagine giving birth when you have a migraine or something. Retracting them up would be a sound idea, but not a ribcage, that's asking for trouble. Also Ricky was technically right, you will get boobs if you eat enough Toblerone.

Do you guys get Blue Peter or even did you guys get a version of Blue Peter? It was like a children’s show way back in the day I think it’s still going to be honest
Never heard of him. But I imagine he was something similar to "Mr. Rodgers" 🤪
A lot of people watch Jimmy Savile did
@@MandyCaneLane good guess thought!
Karl wouldn't squish the bug
Mandy, you are beautiful, funny and your hair is gorgeous... but then you laugh! Only joking, love your reactions, you always cheer me up.
Lol
A kangaroo would have good strong legs
True
The problem with this show is that a lot of it is recycled stories from the xfm days which was a lot more spontaneous and hilarious the first time round. Also they're edited down and miss some of the funniest moments.
If Karl can understand the invention…. Then it’s a shit invention.
If Karl can’t understand the invention, then aliens were involved 😂😂😂
Lmao! #facts! 🤣🤣🙌🏻
You never mentioned Miranda Cane fans, oh so we dont matter.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAA!!! Good point sir!! 🤣🤣🤣
I just realized you've never seen anything from joey lycett, and that's simply not acceptable. Sort it out! 😮 when you have time ofc
I have seen him on Taskmaster and on some WILTY? clips 🤪
Still coughing? Why you do it to yourself by watching pilko 😂
Hahaha, I can't not watch!!! Also the coughing is due to asthma, so it will be around for a while. 😔
😆😆
Mandy S3 E1 has stuff that happens in the intro so you should make a note not to skip that intro.
Yes! I have been told and somehow my brain made a note. Thank you Danny! 🙌🏻🤗
