There is a meditative technique called a body scan used in stress and pain reduction programs where you focus on different parts of the body, starting with the toes. Some people fall asleep when they try it. If you're having trouble sleeping due to thoughts in your head, concentrating on physical sensations can help you "get out of your head".

Karl is one of those people I can't enough of and I've probably watched/semi-listened-to this series once a year since it came out. That's damn near 15 years of KP on and off. For the first time in all those years I am truly appreciating and noticing new things in the animation! Ever since you first noticed how brilliant the animation is in the first two or three episodes you did I've tried to pay closer attention to it and the animation is definitely every bit as special as the show itself!
I have the "can't visualise things in me head" thing. It's called Aphantasia, and I didn't realise until I was about 30 that most people can actually see things in their mind. That blew my mind because it's such an alien concept to me.
@@MandyCaneLane I remember having to comment to reassure you that after a few years doing the radio show with them Karl then chose to do the podcast. Speaking of which... Have you reacted to Steve Vs Karl podcast compilation? It's super long but there are really great bits. Especially of Karl snapping back at Steve and giving as good as he gets (if not better!)
I kinda wish knobopoly was a real version of the game. Like the Starwars monopoly but all knobs. It'd certainly make Christmas family monopoly more interesting 😂
I think about a lot of bits from this show in day-to-day life. When Karl said a few episodes back that he's always wanted to kick a duck up the arse, I think about, no kidding, at least once a month. I think people find him interesting not because he is stupid but because he has an alternative perspective to situations we all deal with. He gives me neurodivergent vibes with just the way he sees everything, like 10 degrees different from the rest of the world, just enough to be understood but also entirely out of left field.
Actual three blind mice. Now would be that "in ten years time." There was a deacon at the church I grew up attending who could have used that. He went blind. The story I got from my mother is, he had diabetes and was actively losing his sight, so he went in for surgery, but they told him they could literally take his eyes out of his head and fix the sight that way, and he trusted the doctors and went through with it, and that's how he went totally blind. Well, when you sever the optic nerve, that's what happens. He didn't realize that would happen, and I don't know what the doctors were thinking. All I know is, if I were already completely blind and they had this cure, I would run to the hospital to get the cure. Two things I hope never happen: me going blind and me becoming paralyzed. They do now have a device that helps the paralyzed be able to walk again, and I just saw a story about it in the news last week. Ricky acts like a 33 year old body is the same as a ten year old body. By the time we're 33, we can't just bounce back, like a ten year old can, and that's if we bounce back from injury at all. And in some cases, when something happens to a ten year old and he doesn't get hurt at all, if the exact same thing happens to a 33 year old, the 33 year old gets hurt. And we're left thinking "THAT hurt me?!" It could be something small, that one would never think would hurt a person. Ricky acts as if 33 is young like ten is young. You're not a senior at 33, but you're not young at 33. "You're the type of person who's stomach is hungrier than you." Believe it or not, about five or ten times throughout the years, my brother actually left food in the microwave and then he left home to go to work or school, and he told me it's because he forgot he was hungry. I was like "how the fuck do you forget you're hungry when it's your own stomach?" I can't jump into his head to remind him he's hungry. That was a "hello, McFly" moment, like in Back to the Future. How do you forget you're hungry? Maybe you forget a pen when going to school. Maybe you forget someone's phone number. Maybe you forget the directions to go somewhere while driving. But to forget you're hungry. HUH?! (Remembering our first years of life) I don't know why we don't remember that time period, either, but I imagine it's because of what Stephen said, that our brains aren't developed enough, yet, to remember. Trauma or no trauma. But I don't want to remember being born. I would just want to remember the moments immediately after, beginning with finger prints being taken. Believe it or not, my earliest memory must have been when I was about 9 to 11 months old. Somewhere around then, based on the weather and events at the time, and the fact my birthday is in July. There were actually two memories from that time period, and I don't know which one happened first. But it was one or the other that counts as my first ever memory. One was when my mom took me to the park, and as we were about to leave to go home, she noticed I wanted to go into the baby swing, so she pushed me in the swing for a few minutes, and then went home. That was one memory. The other was when we were in the kitchen and she had me in that baby carrying seat thing, whatever that's called, and I was on the counter. She must have been washing dishes cause she was at the sink. She stepped away once or twice. At one point I felt warm and waved my hand at myself to say I'm hot. She noticed and said "you want me to open the window?" She opened the window. Moments went by, and at one point, suddenly, there was a gust of wind and the curtains were blowing all over, and that kept up for a moment, and so I shivered to say I'm cold. She said "you want me to close the window?" Then she was like "It IS windy now," and she closed the window. She wasn't going to open the window again, and I was fine with that. That was THAT memory. 24:43 Since they mentioned it, 21:32 is me during those moments. 😄Especially one particular time, when I was 17. Or, at times when I was in kindergarten. That counts as a story time. And by the way, 26:17. So, they have TWO cups of water for THREE people?
"Focus on your toe" is a very valid pain management technique. My neurologist and other doctors have told me to do this. The human brain has some control over how you experience pain. IF you focus on the painful part, you will literally feel it more. IF you focus on a part of your body as far away from the painful part as possible (like a toe), you will feel less pain. It's a psychosomatic control thing.

its more to do with Karl, like u said, not expressing himself with the right words...so here he meant picturing or imagining his feet, but instead he said straining to see his feet, with eyes closed. In Xffm days, he said popular, when he meant common...and theres other examples. meh

Why are you overly charitable to the dumb things Karl says lol. He said “focus” on your toe, and Karl took that to mean, LITERALLY stare at it. That’s why it was dumb. You can focus by visualizing, but he was straining his eyes to actually stare at it. Bruh
Hahahha, this man is just misunderstood. He misunderstands life and has no idea how to express himself either. search " Ricky Gervais Gets Animated
Wildbrain's Marge Dean describes the making of The Ricky Gervais Show. "
Given myself a headache from laughing 🤣
Totally worth it though! Thanks for brightening up my Thursday, Mandy!
Haha! I thought laughing was the medicine, not the problem! 🤪
Ricky's ears, side on, looks like a protuberance😂
They are all snips and bits and compilations. Some are just more noticeable than others
My grandfather always went to the same barber as they'd been friends since serving together in World War II and he took me there one time for a haircut. He obviously didn't think about the fact that every magazine available while you were waiting were p0rn magazines! That certainly opened up my six year old eyes while he was having his hair cut...
Oh boy! 😅😅
Love your manic energy from when you hear Karl’s stories, ironic considering he is so straight about them
Haha, he has no idea how much joy he brings his fans 🤪
your reaction to anything karl/rick/steve related is golden thanks mandy makes my day.
I am honoured! 🙌🏻🌈🤗
U should do rockbusters thats fun.. and can be interactive, cuz u can try guess along with them like in wilty 😅
Watching Karl is like watching a stream of conscious film ,you don't know whats going on , where its going or what the Ending will be but it is entertaining 😊😊 😊😊❤.
With a touch of surrealism
The tic tac incident should be Karl's third film idea. Sounds like a blockbuster.😂
🤣🤣🤣
Thank you.
Mandy Being active and reacting to KP stuff, love it!
It has been a Karl/Ricky filled last 10 days 🤪
"You never see an old man eating a Twix"
Woo hoo! Love to see another reaction to Karl from Mandy... 😊
I can visualise stuff in my head...and I have the inner monologue thing 🙃 I think you mentioned at one point....just sayin
Yep. I also "think in me own accent"
As do I tha knows 🤣
That was funny,I'm in a better mood now 😊
Glad to read it! 🙌🏻
I'm with Karl on that one. My earliest memory is about 6 or 7 and getting car sick on the way home from the zoo 🚗🤢
Never noticed before but the animator appears to be American as the plugs in the animation are not British but American. I needed to tell someone and my dog was not interested. :P
Hahaha! I LOVE this detail, thank you! Tell your dog "woof woof" 🤪
its more to do with Karl, like u said, not expressing himself with the right words...so here he meant picturing or imagining his feet, but instead he said straining to see his feet, with eyes closed.
In Xffm days, he said popular, when he meant common...and theres other examples. meh
Would love to see you do a reaction to some Harry Enfield - 'The Conjugal Rights Guide' is a good starting point.
So funny! You should be on there in cartoon form telling your Target Halloween adventure, Mandy! Trouble is, every time I eat a twix, I will think of you! 😜🍬👀😉
You never see a Mandy eating a Twix
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH
Speaking of Twix's, karl has some interesting theories/conspiracies surrounding this particular candy, i wont spoil it but it crops up in the XFM shows a few times.
"You never see an old man eating a twix" 🤣
@@MandyCaneLane cultured I see. What candy is it that old people actually eat?
@@VColossalV Damn. I am cultured, but my memory is terrible. I want to say something with coconut...? 👀
@@MandyCaneLane Well, let me enlighten you. That would be Werthers Original's, they are the old people candy.
Always a great reaction from Mandy on anything at all Karl related. It does me wonder though. How does so much grumbling provoke so much joy!?!
Hahaha, interesting question! It's all in Karl's delivery I think!
It's because Karl is the most naturally funny person on the planet
The implication is that someone being cheeky left it there as a sort of prank, its not something that would ever being in a waiting room anywhere.
Have you ever listened to the podcasts for the episodes that you already reacted to?
There's a lot of content that you don't get in the show.
Not yet! Will at some point though!
Muchas gracias, Manders. Mui (duno the spelling) Bueno 😊 hope you’re doing great too and sorry for butchering you’re native language there 🤣
English is my native language. Haha! And it is spelled Muy bueno.
Thank you!! 🤗🤗
@@MandyCaneLane ahh thanks! And ahh I see so you were raised in the states completely then? I figured maybe you moved there really young and them moved back to Argentina. Sorry x
The " inner Mandy log" Now that's something needed at Grumpy towers Home of Pests to Mental Gens...Maybe ask Matron if Tales of Wonderfully Mysterious Lady Mandy of Cane Lane be told after the Kipper for breakfast and the daily ....META TARO BLURAY ...hype up played on the Tubes of You rabbit screen of wonder ? nice to see the MEGITSUNE is returning to Mandy ...once... A 🦊A🦊A FEMALE🦊 ...always a 🦊
When Karl first falls after lifting his leg was that Tic-Tac's flying up?
Yes, yes they were 🤣
i'd never watched these before so discovering them with yuo is delightful😁😘
Haha! So glad 🙌🏻🤗
Hard to imagine that Karl is over 50 now.
you never see an old mandy eating a twix
My life goal is to make this happen! Just need to get old first!
I grew up in Alabama. I get the "Kick your Height " thing. Id bet that it was something made up for military service. They always have weird exercises and physical tests. Mostly just stuff for letting low I.Q'd persons in.
Karl's brother was in the British Army, I'm guessing he made his little bro do it for a laugh 😅
If you're dumb enoug to kick your height you dont qualify for the army!!
Only one not to react to 'I was looking through my eyelids"
🤷🏻♀️
Thing tong, thing tong, It's thinging it's way up to tube.
🎶☝🏻☝🏻
The next one, ep 11 is my fav!
I feel like youre the type of person i could talk to for legit hours, different jokes and stories lol and random tangents thats why were all here, most reactions are just someones face and occassional laughing, no actual input zzz, keep it up mandy =]
I like Mandy's commentary & stories too. The one were she mentioned her grandmother was funny & cute.
Thank you so much! 🙌🏻🤗
You should listen to the full XFM shows to get context on all the conversations, you're missing a lot of good stuff just watching this.
I know! Will do one day 🙌🏻
That was too much - I couldn't see the video for the tears in my eyes.
I thought you were going to say you couldn't see the video because your eyes were shut! 😅😅😅
Mandy react to a pointless conversation #1 best karl video hands down, also the games karl makes up for radio show are great and Karl vs Steve the insults are great too!! Ciao!
I need more time!!!
@@MandyCaneLane I will wait..in the shadows...😁
If you need a real laugh the pointless conversation is only 3 mins long but make a reaction video out of it!
Oh no. She told the Halloween Target story again 🤦♂️
Just kidding, we’ve never heard it 🙂
Hahaha, you got me 😆
Try the detectorists😁no 1 reacted to this.has Mackenzie crook who was Ricky sideshow in the office & was in pirates of the Caribbean.it's about 2 mates metal detecting!boring!no.really funny & heartfelt
Karl gets the better of these exchanges. Ricky and Stephen land up pulling their hair out but Karl always maintains his equilibrium.
If you want to think that!!!
@@annother3350 I do.
8:04 - Do you ever see an old lady 'avin a Twix?
One day, I will be that old lady for people everywhere. ✋🏻
i think you secretly love Carl and I think Suzanne wouldn't be happy about that.
Lmao. I love him, but not in that way, Suzanne can keep him 🤣
I love your laugh
Thank you Rob! 🤗
Such a beautiful smile 😊
Said the serial killer
The XFM radio show is best. Animations are really good but the stuff said in the XFM show are even more ridiculous. They did about 80 shows or so and most are about an hour long
I have so much to enjoy! 🥹
Mandy you're bones paranonoid!
Karl p funny as fck 😂😂😂😂
Why are you overly charitable to the dumb things Karl says lol. He said “focus” on your toe, and Karl took that to mean, LITERALLY stare at it. That’s why it was dumb. You can focus by visualizing, but he was straining his eyes to actually stare at it. Bruh
@mike c s I don’t wanna bully, but there’s no reason to lie. Feels like people avoid being mean by being fake nice
Hahahha, this man is just misunderstood. He misunderstands life and has no idea how to express himself either. I am surrounded by people like that in my life, so I have learned to understand what people mean or are thinking even though they haven't expressed it properly. Yeah the guy can be dumb a lot of the time, but other times he just can't express his thoughts clearly.
@@MandyCaneLane I agree 100%, but this wasn’t one of those times. Like he obviously didn’t mean “leg rubber” and the massage therapist probably didn’t call himself that, so fair enough, but he definitely misunderstood the word “focus” in this case. All I’m sayin
@@sujurisilver5118 Haha, he does that a lot. Karl is just.... *unique* 🙌🏻
M C L 😍👸🏻😍
Can i have some candy but u wont go into your panel van
Why no Twix in your life, pretty girl?
Because I live in Argentina and Argentina sucks 🥲
@@MandyCaneLane Oh, no wonder you're so pretty! ♥
Also, WHAT ABOUT SNICKERS!?!? TELL ME THERE ARE SNICKERS!!

🥇
What early memory came to mind during this Mandy?
My first memory!!! When I was 3 my dad brought home a kitten out of the blue. I remember my mom had to bathe him because he was filthy. That kitten lived up to 18 years old and we even brought him to Argentina when we moved. His name was Trixie and he was a very fiesty but loving tabby. ❤️😸
How about yours Josh?
@Mandy Cane Lane that's a great memory 😀 I was 3 when we got our dog Jake, he lived to be 18 too. My earliest memory is when I was about 2, my uncle put me up on his shoulders and ran across a log over a river. I loved it but my mum went berserk at him 🤣
@@JoshRead1 Haha. That is a great one!
