Saw this at a Disney park:
Stroller: zip tied to the handlebars was a plastic shoe organizer. Each sippy cup, water bottle, pocket fan, baby wipes package and sun block, etc. was in an easy to grab spot and didn't consume room in the underneath of the stroller.

Ernesto Gomez Jr Bring the water bottles (or soda, whatever you guys drink), pack a cute themed lunch (just google ideas), and bring snacks. Then splurge on the dessert at Disney. Youll save tons of money but it wont look cheap since you got dessert there

Anything to save money @ Disney. We used to go (when my now 28 yr old daughter was in elementary school) on Columbus Day weekend in October. Lines were short. Weather was beautiful. We stayed on the concierge level @ The Contemporary, our favorite hotel. We ate breakfast & lunch @ the concierge area every day plus we could watch fireworks from the panoramic windows - very important when your youngster is afraid of loud noises. We came back to hotel after an early start each day and cooled off in the hotel pool. The Concierge Level was our vacation treat to ourselves but in early October, very well priced. Plus all the savings on eating at the hotel for free was worth it!!! One splurge well worth it: we bought a brick when they were paving between Contemporary & Magic Kingdom. My husband was killed in 9/11. My daughter got married @ Disney 3 years ago and every time she goes she connects with that brick. Well worth the cost way back then.

We always went to Disney the week after Thanksgiving week. No crowds!! And I know some people think you can't or shouldn't take your kids out of school for something like that but we always got homework assignments and had all of that done before we got there. And guess what? Your kids will be just fine! Learning from life experiences is a valuable, too.

totallly agree. plus not everyone can get time off work during school holidays. And it's just that, they will be fine, missing a few days of school ain't gonna kill them. Once we did all our assignments on holiday, when the kids returned to school, they were ahead of the class! haha.

Love these tips! We've done WDW twice, once with six, then with seven kids. It can certainly be done more cheaply if you plan well!
    1. We stay off site, about 20 away. It wasn't far, and we had a townhouse to ourselves at $600 for a week. We were able to shop for groceries and feed our family with a full kitchen, making breakfast and dinner very affordable. We also brought tins of food with us during the day, but also bought a snack at the park each day for the fun of it.
    2. We also "labeled" our kids, but we wrote directly on their a with sharpie, so the band wouldn't be lost.
    3. Our kids had received money for Christmas that year, so they were able to use that yo pick something to purchase from the parks. They knew their dollar amount, and had to wait until the end of the trip to make their purchase so that a) less chance of buyers remorse and b) we weren't schlepping stuff all over the park!

We are definitely a DisneyWorld family! Here are a few tips from me. 1. Yes stay on property the perks are awesome we alway get a Villa. Old key west has been our choice for years. That way you have a full kitchen. 2. If you drive or rent a car go to the store. Buy everyone's fave drink and snack. If kids are old enough let them take a backpack if not hang it on a stroller. 3.my husband carries a backpack cooler with frozen water and our drinks kids carry snacks. 4 Go to Walmart for souvenirs. They have everything even the character spray bottles and clothing as a matter fact it's the only time we go there because it's so crowded. 5. Make sure to book fast passes way in advance and character dinning too.

I TRY to remember- whenever we do a park at night to grab a pack of $1 glow sticks. That way when my sons sees all the light up stuff, we open up our pack and join in the fun.

To tag onto your glow sticks, before you leave home, get some Glow Bracelets. Put them on your stroller in the evening and you won't have to wonder which stroller is yours when the sun sets!

We live five miles from Disneyland and have been going since birth. A great tip is to go to any counter service and ask for cups of ice water (it's free)! Also, if you end up eating in the parks, SHARE meals. The portion sizes at most restaurants are huge (the fried chicken dinner at Plaza Inn feeds two or three, etc).

    • @twobluestripes

I am a Disney vet. Done WDW in Florida, DLR in Anaheim, and DLP in Paris. Love seeing your tips and many are really good. Here are a few of mine. Any walk up restaurant in a Disney park will give you free cups of ice water. This beats the public fountains that can be tepid at best or in the case of Florida where the water has a high sulfur content it tastes better. Pins, yes they are expensive but if you hit the clearance or multipacks you can get some cheap before going. Doesn't matter if you like them just get them. Why? Because CMs in the park wear lanyards of pins and will Trade you for yours. So you buy cheap and then get a chance to find special ones that you might not want to pay full price for. Some CMs even wear special lanyards that are just for kids to trade. Also Guest relations in the parks and at the hotels keep pin books that you can also trade at. Also one of my best money saving tips is that when eating at Disney counter services food tends to come in packages (like a burger comes with fries) but you can ask to hold the sides and just buy the entree part of the meal for a reduced price. This works great in the heat when you don't want huge meals or if you have small eaters. We often get a full meal and then an entree only and split the sides. Hope you had fun!

  • @notconvincedgranny6573
    @notconvincedgranny6573 6 років тому +11

We always arrive as early as possible - and ride the train to the back end of the park and work our way forward. Everyone else is doing the opposite. Go back to the hotel from noon to 3 (hottest part of the day, too) - then out again as everyone else is going to dinner.

I am a Disney annual pass holder and live in San Francisco. One thing that helps is that I work at a hotel so I get discounted hotel rooms, but if you want to book a hotel, it's not always best to do so in advance. My advice is book a room that you can cancel. I would look every week to see if the rate drops. If it drops, then rebook and cancel the last reservation. I work for Holiday Inn and they have a basic rate where 'no deposit' is required. I would look for a 'good neighbor' hotel cause they will be a lot cheaper. Disney hotels (I think) start at around $250 a night.
Water: instead of even wasting money on water bottles, buy a Brita water bottle. They are $7 at Wal Mart. What I do, is stop by the hotel ice machine, I fill my water bottle with ice, then add regular water. Disneyland gets extremely hot, at times, and you will want cold water. I also ask for ice water cups at restaurants so I can refill my water. The nurse's station in California adventure has a cold water fountain.
Food: I usually bring a few snacks, everyone is different, and I end up eating at the parks anyway. My favorite place to eat is the coke corner. They have a $10 chili bread bowl. And my daughter will eat the pretzels. The corn dog stand is another good option. For dinner, I will go to the Plaza Inn. I get their chicken plates. That, alone, can feed up to 2 people. I usually get my daughter a $5 kids meal.
I had once gone to Disneyland with only $400 in my pocket and made it last for 5 days. Including my hotel room. I've seen hotel rates as low as $100, even in the summer. Some souviniers I will not buy, such as toys. Most of the toys in the park, you can get at the disney store for $10 less. I get the souviniers that say Disneyland on it, usually. Pin trading can be expensive as well, but, since I visit the parks a few times, I try to buy one pack each time. I do NOT buy from eBay because their pins are usually always fake.
My mom is on an extremely tight budget and she once brought her own hot dogs and buns.
I have parking on my pass, but parking is $20. If you're a family of 4, then drive and park in the parks. If you have 3, or less, in your party, then see if the hotel you're at has a Disney shuttle. I think I spent around $15 for an all day pass on the art bus for 2 adults and a child. They are so convenient and drop you off right in front of the security checkpoints.
The lines are crazy. I am not an early riser, so I usually go to the parks later. After the first parade, if the park is open till 11pm or midnight, the park is usually very quiet. I would go on all the dark rides in Fantasyland and you can pretty much hop right on Pirates of the Caribbean. I would definitely utilise the fast pass system. Also, wait until the second parade. It's ALWAYS less crowded.

We stayed at the best western across the street & got continental breakfast every morning. Plus because we purchased a Southern California pass for three day park hopper for Disneyland & California adventures, Lego land & choice of zoo. That pass was cheaper than buying just the Disneyland tickets on their own. Plus we got the magic morning with them as well. Hotel was nothing special, but it was super close & we were only there to sleep. And sometimes buying those expensive things makes for great memories, but I wouldn't spend a lot all the time. And yes, bring snacks, lunches & water bottles!

another suggestion...buy a Mophie battery case on Amazon for $20+ The parks suck up your battery life, especially using apps! Fun Tips Catherine. We go to Disney every year. We always pick up my daughter something from there. We only have 1 child and I'm ALL over Disney souvenirs etc. lol I'm a sucker for it and I love that we don't see it here so I want something different that I can only get there. I do how ever buy our shirts from home. We have made them too. I also make our Disney mouse ears. I sell them as well. A tip...we always bring our own snacks in the suitcase as well as ponchos from the dollar store. We bring our own water bottles and fill up at the resort. I live in Los Angeles and have had a Disney pass for as long as I can remember. In my opinion, the pins are completely worth it. Every cast member is obliged to trade with you if you ask them, and you can find rare and special pins that are actually worth a lot. I also really recommend starting toward the back of the park first thing in the morning, as there are less people there. Another thing is to park in Downtown Disney, even if you plan to go to the park. They will give you free parking hours if you purchase anything there or eat a meal.

My tip is to buy glow sticks from the Dollar Tree store or the 99 cent store. I bought my niece a princess tiara that glows and it was Disney. Great video and tips!

A good tip to remember is if you go into any restaurant in the park they will give you a cup of ice water for FREE. They're usually just kid sizes, but some places like Pizza Port in tomorrow land always let me have their large size. And nothing beats a nice cold water during a hot day in the parks. Water fountains are great for filling up your water bottles, but I always always prefer the ice water.

meals are sold in combos but you can ask for No fries etc and it will bring the price down so you are not paying for what you don't need. If you do pins but a cheap grab bag on ebay for under $10, then have fin trading them with cast members without having to shell out a bunch of money in the park.

When my family went to Disney World we previewed a timeshare which gave us a wonderful free meal and 3 out of 4 of our tickets were free! They were for 2 parks! We stayed in a very nice place all for 90 minutes of our time to say no to purchasing a timeshare. Totally worth it for our extreme budget. We also brought our own clothes and food instead of paying park prices. One of the best and cheapest vacations ever for us!
