Omg Kathryn I so needed this video. I was literally sitting on my bed crying because of the clutter that I let accumulate in my home. It became so overwhelming that I just gave up. I really can relate, but I'm moving in 2 months - so I need to really get to it!! I am not hiring movers, just will take what will fit in my car. I think I have decided I have 2 big items that are worth the car space for me to bring, and a lot of the stuff that I've accumulated will just need to go! I got rid of a lot of my big stuff already, and it felt good to not have to think about it anymore. Sort of like ripping off a bandaid! We've got this!! It's good to know we are not alone! 😘 👍

Please encourage people to donate those unopened containers to a local women's shelter or thrift store. It will be a blessing twice: for the donor and the recipient.

I used to work for a large company and within the women’s network, we were encouraged to collect the toiletries from the hotel room when traveling. The rationale is the items provided are included in the room rate. We would collect items once a quarter and they were donated to local homeless shelters. I haven’t worked at that company in 15 years however the habit stuck 😉
I agree! Our local food pantry takes toiletries as well as food. Yours might too. Please consider donating newer unused items.

I remember one of the first videos I watched where Kathryn said it was OK to get rid of things you don't use without feeling guilty. I had makeup, hair products, etc that I didn't like and never used but felt guilty letting it go. After that video I went through everything and couldn't believe the space I had once I let go. Kathryn is the best motivator, so positive and encouraging

Thank you for this video, I REALLY needed it right now. I lost my husband unexpectedly in December of 2022. I had fallen away from a lot of my cleaning routines and into a depression. I'm coming out now but looking at the mess that is is so daughting. This has given me a way to move forward.

I am taking action on being more sustainable and trying to only buy items made from glass, metal, wood,and ceramic. So it's a challenge to not get swept up in the plastic organizers.

I'll focus my organizing with the plastic baskets, bins, and drawers I've already had for years, the non plastic bins and baskets I've bought recently, and keep new plastic purchases to less than 20%. I've moved into a new apartment and have to redo all my organizing.
Thank you Kathryn! I had drawers in my dresser like this, I started to throw away things I didn’t use anymore or donate. I don’t know what it was, but I became more organized and more cleaner just knowing i will give birth to my son soon. And just wanted a system to work for us. I got rid of so many things from my room, before he gets here. I was just amazed. Thank you for all your tips and help.

I sometimes catch that “Overwhelm Bug” too, so I get it!!
You made that bathroom so beautiful and functional!! I did however, notice one thing that would bother me. That is the corner shelf unit on the far right is blocking the outlet with bottles. Unless she has another outlet in a convenient space, she would have to move those bottles every time she wanted to use her hairdryer or curling iron etc.
I love that what you did for her can boost her mental health and wellbeing! You are a gem ❤

Just one tip, to clean makeup brushes only submerge the bristles in water not the ferrule as the glue will become loose and make the bristles fall off or make the ferrule detach from the handle.

As someone who came from a family of hoarders, and married into another, my husband and I never really learned structure, and over the years of watching your videos, I've been trying to learn those strategies, because I want to break that cycle.
We are in the process of decluttering both our own home (we have been gifted/burdend with so much) as well as our parents house, and it gets so overwhelming and tiring.
But to hear you say that cleaning is a strategy, not just an action, gives me just a little more energy to keep going.

I struggle with the shame of clutter, too. My disabled, elderly mother and I live together. I also have physical and emotional/mental challenges. I work full time. You've heard it all before.
My mother forced the issue by inviting people to come to our house for a party, with out-of-town guests spending the night.
I had to go into a frenzy of cleaning and organizing, crying, screaming, and in physical pain daily.
During this time, I watched one of your recent videos, in which you shared tips for cleaning and organizing for those with physical challenges. It helped to calm me down.
My mother had her party, in our improved, but still heavily cluttered house, but without overnight guests.
Your tips, encouragement, and Dollar Tree products have helped me to feel like I can have a clean, organized home.

I so wanted this video My friend , not only this motivated me to organize my bathroom , this also gave me a direction. I have been struggling on how to begin , where to store my stuff . I recently moved to a new house and it is overwhelming for me to start organizing, as I couldn’t declutter before relocating. Girl you should be a spiritual guide , I swear I was struggling with each and every aspect you touched. Shame , guilt , no motivation or even no plan on where to start. Loved these tips (and encouragement!!). I am literally taking a break from measuring my car's cargo space and had this notification! I am moving from FL to MN into a small 1 bedroom apartment. I'm only going to take what will fit in my car. I am struggling with the 'letting go' thing and prioritizing what is important enough to take up space in my car. I have 2 chairs that I would love to bring that would work out great in my new apartment. They obviously take up a lot space. UGH! Decisions - decisions - decisions!! This was exactly what I needed today. We are leaving our house of 30 years to become full-time RVs. But we think in the future, we will buy a home so we need to keep some of our stuff. We are almost packed, except for all of the stuff that has ended up in the bathroom on the counter. Just watching and listening to you has helped me decide how to attack it. I just half to tell you the best way to clean hair brushes is to skwirt shaving cream onto a hair brush then rub it into the lines where the bristles are, then rinse.Brand new brush...it's Amazing!!!
I’m always amazed at the amount of make up products that accumulate. I use 1 moisturizer, one foundation (brand and color does t change), blush, eyeliner mascara, lipstick, ll the same products I’ve used for 5 or 6 years. This prevents buying something and not liking the way it feels or color, cause I don’t think makeup can be returned. All of it has a place inside a vanity with a lid. When the lids closed, it’s out of sight.. now, let’s not talk about my kitchen counter😉

When cleaning out toiletries, I pack any discards into a box and then leave them in a ladies room at work, school, or church with a “Help Yourself!” sign! Gets them out of my space, and lets others give a new product a try! And you’re not discarding products others can use!

I was a designer long ago, so I understand that mindset. When my mom was overwhelmed after my dad died and we needed to have an estate auction and sell her house, I had a plan every day and we made it through. She tells everyone that she wouldn’t have been able to do it alone. I’m an only child (56 yo), so husband and I worked with her to handle everything. Being overwhelmed can be so lonely ❣️

We have the three compartment acrylic holders in both of our bathrooms to hold our toothbrushes. And those acrylic cups with the lid to hold flossers, retainers, and such. Definitely helped. The underneath is a bit of mess still but much more manageable
Great ideas. In my bathroom each person has a drawer and a shelf in the linen closet. It has helped maintain clutter and personal products for us. Love your ideas as usual you rock👏👏❤️👏👏
