Yeah, it's well known that Iron Maiden is a completely sober band. You can easily tell by how healthy and energetic they look on stage. I'm 50 years old and I remember listening to them before I even became a teenager. Bruce Dickinson, the lead singer, also pilots the plane himself whenever the band goes on tour.
250.000 people on that day! I was a 10 years old little boy with my parents watching that full of joy. It was my first show ever! Still my favorite band and always will be! ❤
The Worst thing about Iron Maiden is that I watched my first concert only this year June in Hannover. Unbelivable level of perfomance they still delivery. It was very hot and sweaty that day, concert was in a closed arena, I nearly passed out during the last song since I hadn´t drink in 3 hours to keep my spot in the front. had to leave mid the last song. And yet, those guys in their late 60ies rocking the stage.
You're absolutely right, no one beats Iron Maiden live. I've obviously heard many other bands live, but when it comes to Maiden is just... different and special...
I’m a 51 year old metal head from the 80’s and every few years or so I gotta have an Iron Maiden fix. My ears want to hear nothing but Maiden for a few days or weeks (it varies). I think your reaction just kicked my next fix off! Thank you!
For me it's the other way around. I'm 53, I've been listening to Maiden since the early 80s and I can only get away from it for a few days at most. I've been listening to them pretty much my whole life. ^^
Bassist - Steve Harris (Founder & primary song writer of this band. Also he is world's no.1 heavy metal bassist. You can google it.) Vocalist - Bruce Dickinson (A man with many talents) Guitarist - Dave Murray, Adrian Smith & Janick Gers (They're seriously amazing) Drummer - Nicko McBrain 🔥 Iron Maiden is one of greatest heavy metal in the world. All members are very talented & energetic. If you wanna know more about this band then don't forget to visit wikipedia. Up The Irons From India. 🤟🔥🤟
Along with Metallica my favorite metal band of all time. Between those amazing guitarmanship, bruces vocals, the lyrics, and Ed Harris driving bass - their music is epic. all of it. I've seen them live 6 times - last time was a year ago - they're 60 years old and still doing this at a high level. Plan to see them again next year if they come back to Cali.
I believe this song is about William Wallace, Scottish Knight wanted Scotland free from British Empire (1296 to 1328 known as 1st War of Scottish Independence) Wallace was executed by England in 1305 at the age of 35. His execution was brutal such as Hanged, Drawn, and Quartered. Steve Harris, founder of Iron Maiden plus Bassist is songwriter loves history and poems. Majority of Iron Maiden's song is based on those traits.
There was no British Empire in the time of Wallace, that was several centuries in the future, the Normans had conquered England about two centuries earlier, and were extending their rule into Wales, and trying to do the same in Scotland, although they were not successful.
Alot of new people are finding maiden. And realising how good music can be. It makes me happy more people are listening to new genres they wouldn't have listened to. It's the best thing about the internet.
Iron Maiden, last weekend was part of new concert festival called Power Trip in California. They, Metallica, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Guns N Roses, and Tool played last weekend.
I'm telling you, Iron Maiden are a multi-generational band! I'm 31 so unfortunately I missed their absolute peak in the late 80s but man, they're my favourite band (With Saxon and Motorhead a very close 2nd & 3rd) and have been for the past 13 or 14 years. In that period of time I've discovered countless new bands, got into heavier styles of Metal and dabbled with different genres of music however, one way or another it always comes back to Maiden for me. To me they're like a comfort blanket and they more or less are the foundation for my taste in music. I owe a lot to Iron Maiden. I really do. Up the Irons, lads and lasses!🤘
There is such a cinematic feel to the gorgeous intro. Wouldn't you agree? Scotland is a gorgeous place. Clear mountain lakes, rolling mists and mountains that aren't jagged but sloping majestically. And clear starry nights.
Can't help....at "freedom" after the intro goosebumps running over my skin! After 22 years of knowing this performance! Truly a historical performance in iron maiden history and music history! Up the Irons 🙏🤘
I don't think it's possible to "understand" how this works, how it comes to be. Like the pyramids, they just are. Whether it's Maiden, The Stones, Michael Jackson, or any genius or work of art, all you can be is open to the experience. I try to think about what a song is going to do to me, how it's going to open me up to something I like or, sometimes, don't. Music is healing, especially when it's of the gods. Soul music. Thanks for the reaction. 🙏🙏

I'll get some hate for saying this, but this is one of the few songs in which I prefer Blaze's version to Bruce's. This was right after Bruce rejoined the band, right after the Brave New World tour, so he stumbled on the lyrics and pitch a bit. He just didn't have much time to dig into the song before the show. Bruce is the overall better singer, this just wasn't really written for him so he doesn't get as much opportunity to show off his range on this one. It works better almost chanted, like on the album version.
Currently touring North America. Just saying🤪 Best live band ever. Watch Alexander The Great from this tour. Have fun catching up with their 17 studio and 30 live albums
