After being an F-150aholic since 1986 I ordered a '22 Ram 1500 Laramie 3/5.7L Hemi last year. At 5K miles in I still can't believe how comfortable, quiet, and how well the truck drives. Zero problems so far, and it gets respectible mpgs in town and on the highway. We like it so much, instead of taking the wife's car, we're taking the Ram to the Badlands in May. Yes, it's that impressive. BTW, if you want you can push the "minus" on the gear limit switch, and then push the "plus" up to 8th gear, the engine will not drop to 4 cylinder mode while cruising.
at 5k miles zero problems? if u hit 100k miles zero problems let us know :)
Lol zero problems at 5k…. I would certainly hope so!
Yeah f150 start to fail even below 5k miles. I know, I had 3, with the current 2022, right from the first mile the transmission is garbage. And hey its Ford, so all complaints you have - dealer will say it's normal. My 22 f150 had 4 warranty repairs in 1 year. 2019 before this one was in the shop for warranty 51 days in total in 2 years that I've owned - to bad no lemon law in Canada... yeah the best truck ever!
@@wowdude8244calm down. You fan boys always have the same comment. Plenty of rams gone over 150k miles. All on how you maintenance your vehicle.
I have always liked your solo reviews, and your family interaction adds so much more.
I have had my Ram Limited since new in 2020. It is the best ever. I also tow a 6,000 lbs travel trailer and it never let's me down. Shame the gas mileage is still poor.
I’m a simple guy and just needed a simple work truck so I got myself the Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman extended cab with 2wd and the Hemi. $32k at the time in 2020, and finished paying it off last November. $80k for a 1/2 ton family hauler is too much.
I own a new model loaded RAM 1500 Laramie - bought new now with 80k miles and it’s been flawless. I love it in the city and I love it in the back country on rough roads throughout New England.
How much did you buy it new for?
@@JP-xq7foprobably $65k
Happy Sunday all ☕️
Excellent review as always
I test drove a ram pick up yesterday and I’m going back today to purchase it. Most comfortable pick up I have ever driven. With all the recalls and everything that Ford goes through constantly I think it’s a better decision than the Ford.
Funny and very engaging review:)! Thank you!
Love your reviews hope you guys do Ram 1500 vs F-150
Wow, this is really a cool review. Great job!
I have had a Ram for a while now. I have driven all the competitors and I keep coming back to Ram. They make a killer truck, especially for my 6’2” 350 lbs frame.
Good review. The only annoyance that all reviews seem to not mention are that the rear seats slide and recline. And that the entire center seat drops down. Both are massive positives vs. The competition.
So true man ! I own a 2021 Ram Laramie
That’s not true is a lot of 2022s. Mine was suppose to come with it, but they removed the option early in the year due to parts shortage. That’s not to say it didn’t come back, but it’s not on majority of 2022 models.
@Travis Sewilo the model he reviewed had it though.
I test drove a 22 limited and had lot less options than my 22 platinum tundra .and they wanted 10k more
First thing I thought of too!
Excellent review!!
Beautiful looking truck. That color with the blackout package!!
The one thing I notice a lot of reviews forget about in the mid to high trim level rams. The rear seats recline.
This isn’t true in majority of 2022 models. Mine was suppose to come with the recline and heat, but they were removed due to parts shortage. That doesn’t mean it didn’t come back at some point in the year though.
Love there is a family review for trucks!!
Micah, the rear seats also recline. How did you miss it? I pulled a fully loaded max tow weight 30' trailer from Bakersfiekd Ca to Soldotna Alasaka, and the Ram was amazing.
Great video.
I have this same truck in an older model and while I love it but just had a valve body malfunction and the part alone was over $2000.00 plus mechanic but other than scheduled maintenance it’s been a great truck and I’ve looked at newer models and there really not that different from what I own now so I’ll keep this till the wheels fall off!
I love these videos especially since a new pickup is on my mind in the future. I would also like to see a Ford ranger if you can. Keep up the great work you are awesome !
Neighbor has a new F150 4WD. He also has his dad's old 70s F150. Had them parked end to end in front of his house the other day and the first thing I thought was how huge a full sized truck has gotten. The new one dwarfs the 70s one. I hope RAM does release a new Dakota in the near future. That would be just about right for me. The 1500 is just overkill for a single guy to make Home Depot runs in.
Not to mention the price tag.
There’s always the single cab Ram 1500 Classic.
You should get a Honda Ridgeline them. My RAM is perfect and it was six figures and I will enjoy every Single Kilometer
@@mrsfranny2020I had a 2014 Nissan Frontier and went to a 2017 Ram 1500. I'm only 5'7" and the size of the ram made it useless for me (I'm in construction)... I hurt my back trying to lift something up onto the tailgate. I'm going back to a midsize truck asap.
Loved the review. I have a '21 Bighorn. Wish I could afford a Limited lol
Have same year and truck.Rides so smoorh
You were talking about the safety sensors not being standard being a downside... That's actually what talked me out of all of the other trucks and into the ram. Less sensors is a huge plus to me. However, I do understand, everyone's preference is different... I was so happy it was optional on the RAM though because of that. I've worked in the automotive world my entire life, and I have seen far to many headaches and issues over the years with all of the sensors in vehicles today (they have improved though).
Yeah but you should have them for free, if they stop working then oh well you didn’t want the sensors anyways
Stay safe with all the snow in Big Bear.
I've never wanted a truck as bad as i have the past few years and I've finally decided to start saving up for a downpayment for one. So I can't wait to have atleast a 20k downpayment for one next year before summer. Only question (for anyone with knowledge) whats sets the Limited apart from the Laramie to justify the price difference? Also, would buying be smarter than leasing one? Is it worth it to finance and deal with the cost of regular maintenance and whatever major repairs you have to deal with after the truck gets past the 100k mile mark? Or leasing and upgrading every 3 years and not have to worry about depreciation and major repairs?
Al trucks are 60k or more! There is nothing for 52k, it’s all paperwork, but you will not find any in that price range.
Great review, but the title is misleading as this is a 2022. The 2023's have the digital gauge cluster and don't have the "wood" steering wheel.
Lane keep assist is annoying and blind spot warning is unnecessary. I have a 22 model. I bought it because it didn't have those features. I'm different, I guess.
Looks Awesome
I have a RAM 1500 Lone Star. No regrets. 21.7 MPG Highway. An excellent truck. A secure truck and easy to drive. I really likes the styling.
I think I'm looking foward to getting that car in the future.
I have a 2020 Laramie and it's like Rolls Royce and Toyota Landcruiser teamed up to make a truck. The build quality is insane. I got the Laramie with the tech and safety packages so it wouldn't be out of date for quite a while and I'm glad I did. Another channel said that Ram made a huge mistake and made this truck waaaaaay better than what they can charge the market for since they have to price it similar to Ford and Chevy. With 50,000 miles, it drives like brand new. Solid as a brick, no creaks, interior unlike anything else around. I never dreamed you could get a vehicle this nice but built as a truck so it'll last for a decade. Wow.
Nice video! Loved my 22 RAM Laramie but it got stolen. :( Got another Bighorn but not as nice.
Great review. The family is what many other sites are missing. Capability is awesome, although almost all of us don’t need the extremes advertised. The day to day comfort all around is what really matters.
Great review. It's supposed to be wood, but I have no clue. If it's not, I've never seen a synthetic material with so much grain.
I have a 2020 with 50k miles and haven't had a bit of problem with it. The only thing I've had wrong with it is the leather on the dash started peeling up and it was replaced under warranty, but from what I've read they replaced that material with something in 2023 so hopefully that won't happen on future models.
I do think it's insane what they're doing though, and I'm super glad I got mine when I did. It seems every new model year they keep taking away features. I got mine in November 2020, level 1 options with pano moonroof, MFT (which I absolutely love and want on every truck in the future now), cargo management rails, 22" wheels, for 63k. The exact same truck with all the same options in 2023 is 78k. That's a crazy increase, I'm just hoping I can push mine to 200k because it's a joy to ride in every day.
That was an if'n great review
As commuter, as well as casual outdoorsman and occasional Home Depot shopper, I’m finding it increasingly hard to justify paying 60k and up for a truck. Add to that the poor mileage and I just can’t seem to bring myself to buy one. As much as I’d love to drive around in one I can’t get past the through of $100 per week at the pump and the price of those 22” tires
Lease a Ford F-150 Lightning: it'll run you $500 month
cool video
Mom and dad recently got one and I surprised by how luxurious trucks have gotten. Also the step is easy in the back is easy to get out the hard part is putting it back in. Lastly I hate the sport hood it’s so tough to see out
Love my 2022 Limited.
Base: $37k
As tested $76k
My buddy has a 21 1500 limited and let me tell ya, The thing is the best vehicle for road trips in my opinion. From indiana to Florida and back it was great to drive and be a passenger in. Never felt uncomfortable. As a matter of fact on the way back the back seat is pretty large at least for me (im 5"8) and could completely sprawl out and take a nap back there. Very great daily or just a good work truck if you aren't scared of damaging it.
I love the looks of the RAm 1500
Almost $80k. Oofta. that's painful.
Great review! The Ram is my top choice out of the big three, but the pricing, like all other full-size trucks, is too high. It is a nice-looking truck though.
What's the big 3?
@GP the big 3 are Chevrolet, Ford, and Ram.
@Keith Hamilton which one would you chose and why between Ford ranger vs gmc canyon vs ram 1500?
@GP it depends if I wanted a half ton truck like the Ram or a mid size like the Ranger and Canyon. For me, I would go with the Ford Ranger because it can carry and tow everything I would need. The smaller size will work better on trails as well. I also like the fact that the Ranger has been one of the top pickup trucks in parts of Europe and Australia for over a decade. I like the looks of the 23 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss versus the GMC Canyon, but they're the same truck. Reliability will be a question with those two. For the Ram, I would go with the 2500 with the V8.
@Keith Hamilton thank you think I'm going to get the ranger for pratical reasons as you stated. But I do love the interior space of the Ram.
I'm not a pickup truck person but this would be the one I would own if forced to choose. I kinda like the Tundra and Titan as well but again I don't know enough about trucks to properly compare them.
I bet this guy's heart pumps blood at a rate 2x the normal human rate. He's got so much energy.
Good Lord it's become so expensive
It’s one thing for it to be so expensive, it’s another thing for it to be that expensive and worse equipped than a $25k car. For trucks, as soon as you select a non-base engine, quad cab, and 4x4, the price jumps into the stratosphere before adding any more options, it’s ridiculous
Who cars about that, it’s the driving experience and practicality that counts the most, but yeah people.. they think they need all that infotainment and shit! Yet they’re using 20% of it lol
And no cd player
@@ferrumchnop6617most of the car companies won’t even cd players anymore
@@ferrumchnop6617I didn't even know those still existed.
Great review! I'm in the market, and this model tops my list. IMO, it's the best-looking and sounding, nicest interior. For the cost, I can't get past the lack of current assist tech. The F-150 Powerboost was quicker, better epa rating, and had much better driver assist tech. I didn't care for the driver seat in the Ford, or I'd have bought it. Still looking~
$76,000 as tested makes this not a family vehicle.
FFS… tell me about it. Any family man would not realistically but this without being an asshat of a Dad. Money better spent on a more realistic means of transportation.
Can you do one of the GMC Sierra 1500. Not a Denali trim…something mid level…like an Elevation or a trim around there…
I have a 2020 F150 I really love. I've had a 2004, 2011, 2017 and a 2020. However, I don't know if I can get on board with the 21-23 model F150. Just feels like I'm driving a cell phone and my 2020 feels better made. I think I'm moving to Ram. It seems they are making trucks for people who want trucks still.
Once u get used to the big truck hard to get into a smaller truck had a 2010 ram Laramie then bought a 2018 colarado nice but use to big one sold it and bought a 2019 ram laramie
That might be the biggest difference between base price and as tested price that I've ever seen. 😲
Dodge makes base models that are essentially a gen 4 that's why they cheap
You said it has the optional air suspension, then later you said it has coil springs in the back...does not compute. Which is it?
You keep saying no major changes for 2023?? I would consider the new DIGITAL CLUSTER a big change. Being able to keep the NAVIGATION screen directly in front of you is huge!
Extremely beautiful vehicle love it ❤❤❤❤ what the price tag
Looking at ordering a 23 1500 limited… but the wait time is like 6mo. That’s most of 23 gone…. Just wait to order a 24? It would suck to order a 23 at these prices, then the 24 orders open up. Shouldn’t the 23s price come down when this happens? If I buy now, take delivery in 8mo when 24s are available and prices of 23 come down, but I’m locked in at a price of today… hmmm. Am I thinking through right
Best truck in e existence
No one comes close to Ram since 19 with there new DT model Consumer Reports says..only truck to pick in 22 and 23 ..RAM-1500 KING OF TRUCKS 👌
👍🤙💯
Think this is a 2022 model as the 2023s have all digital instrument cluster and they got rid of the wood upper trim on the steering wheel.
I love the Tested price is 100% more $$$ 😅 than the Base Model.
Micah, do you still have yer Bronco?
Would love a truck. But there is no way I am paying their asking price. All manufactures truck prices have gone through the roof. Plus, there is high interest rates to consider.
Micah, as a journalist, do you think prices for trucks ever go down or this just the way it is going to be in the future.
Just have to not go crazy on the options list and get only what you need
The interior is equivalent to The cave on Glenoaks in Burbank, a nail salon for men that offers pedicure, manicures, facials, and has a barber in complete with big leather chair, matte black walls, and offering hard liquors when you're getting pampered
Models with e torque do not have rear reclining seats unfortunately
Nice truck, great review but sadly way too expensive
All trucks have, Ram is one of the worst offenders though... In order to get something as basic as adaptive cruise control, you're spending $70k+ on a Laramie with the level 2 package. Meanwhile, a tiny ass Civic has all the active safety tech features under the sun, standard equipment for $18k...
How are you guys holding up in that storm??
??
Your little one is getting big. It’s a toss up for trucks I don’t like the 22” wheels. I still like 17-18”. Although the truck I have has 20”. I can’t wait to see your review on there new engine that is coming out
Hope they plan to offer the Hurricane engines later this year.
Pros and cons ❄️☃️
Air suspension is STANDARD on Limited Trim!!
If you need the car to brake and tell you when your leaving your lane or there is a car next to you you should not be driving.
Lol good to know someone needs YOU to tell them when they don't need to drive.
Did Ram formally confirm that they are offering a range extender on the electric pick up? Did you just let me know some information that I wasn’t supposed to know? ;)
Haven’t heard that either, sounds like they’re doing a full hybrid version from what he said.
@@vr4787 if that’s the case RAM can have my money. Used to want a Ford Powerboost but Ford’s reliability issues scared me off, along with the prices🙄
"What does sweetie think?" CLAP "I HATE THIS :D" lol!!
TRX next!!
Our family really should jump more trucks. :)
It’s real wood.
This is a fantastic truck, but I dont like massive vertically integrated screens, I wish it had Jeep's Hurricane i6, and the lack of advanced safety tech in lower trims is disappointing. If I were buying a 1/2 ton truck right now, it'd probably be a fully loaded F150 XLT 2.7 Sport with all the active safety and tech packages -- $62k thereabouts.
No thanks I’ll pay the $10 g’s extra, for the Hemi, and I’ll figure out how to stay in lane myself. The Ford is so meh.
ford is not on the same level as Ram.Take both on a test drive no comparison
imo Auto braking assist and lane assist are the worst it does the opposite of keeping u safe
Push the rear step with your foot and it pops out
5.7 ram with 4x4 all oil changes are a mess they couldn't put that drain in worse spot, engineers failed there gets all over front axle and need extra rags clean up
Lane keep still isn’t Lane centering , sucks this late in the game if you want to crush miles.
Hello Riyad
Agreed absolutly. That was the biggest disapointment on my 10/2022 RAM Aniversity 1500 Edition
At 5:35, you literally ran out of breath trying to get back in Rams good graces after dissing them.
This is a 2022 not a 2023 model. 2023 limited added digital cluster and remover the wood steering wheel topper…
How did you break your paw Micah?
All good stuff - until you see that price tag. My God, even if I weren't broke, I wouldn't pay that for a vehicle.
Looks wise in and out the ram is the best for sure…if only stellantis focused a bit more on reliability. Ram is almost near the bottom
my 21 BH has been perfect.
the sweat spot for me for RAM is the Rebel.
Hello Richard
Plus it had a true off road transfer case
don't think that Laramie price was right
Another competitor is the Nissan Titan, which you forgot to mention
These Rams would be a lot more fun if they had at least middle of the pack reliability.
Go check out Truck Central. The guy’s Ram 1500 5th gen is almost at 200,000 miles with very few issues.
@@vr4787 Go check out every vehicle rating publication known to mankind. Those are worth a little more than one person’s experience.
I have a 2017 Ram Big Horn with 120,000 miles and its been amazing so far.
Just checked out Consumer Reports. Ram is currently in 1st for reliability 🙃
Too much tech and to fancy to use for actual truck stuff. Ill stick with my 2017 titan sv. 4x4, plain v8, aftermarket costco back up camera, only feature it has is heated power mirrors.
Bed Step is SMARTER than a UA-camR? Lol. It just slides out. It is bigger than the step on the Rams with the regular tailgate. Lol
We've used similar steps in the past. Believe me, we tried everything to move the step. It didn't budge. I'm pretty sure our step was broken.
Inline 6 twin turbo? 395hp is inadequate.
Since when is 400 hp inadequate? That's more than most other half ton trucks. I wish it had the Hurricane i6 turbo too, but that's just a silly statement.
Probably should watch saying multi-function tailgate. Kind of stealing from GMC/Chevy.
I wish I was as happy as they are.
Well they got to justify why a civic and Camry cost as much as a truck!
I have had 2 rams and would stay because of looks ,stance, sound ,interior but ram have gone 180 on pricing and no longer the obvious choice for money conscience people, unless your these idiots that pay way more than they should keeping dealers rich and prices outrageous
They aren’t considered v8s anymore
