Beef Tongue Sandwich (Persian Street Food) - Cooking with Yousef

Hi friends, today we make one of the most popular & delicious street foods in Iran, "Beef Tongue Sandwich" (ساندوچ زبان گاو)
Like most sandwiches, it's easy once you have everything ready to stuff in the bread, but you got to set aside some time to prepare the stuffing for this one. It's a real treat!
Ingredients List:
- 1 whole beef tongue
- 2 Onion
- 2 cloves of Garlic
- 2 Tomatoes
- 220 grams (half a pound) of white mushrooms
- Several pickled cucumbers
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Few lettuce leaves
- 2 Bay leaves
- Choice of sand which bread
Serving Size = 4-5 people

Thanks Yousef. As you said, they used to make sandwiches with Sourdough baguettes in street sandwich shops (Agzieh Forooshi) in Iran. It would be nice if we could get that type of bread in U.S.

Very nice. I've never had, but would love to try! In Sicily, the street food sandwich is spleen, and I enjoy that. I'd imagine the tongue is a much cleaner taste as it's all muscle. Oh, and the parsley onion mix... I love and use all the time! Another wonderful cook sir!
