- The New Balance SC Pacer v2 is a racing shoe designed to be a low-profile, lighter weight alternative to the conventional 40mm stack marathon racing shoes. Priced at $200, it goes head-to-head in the short-distance racing segment with the Nike Streakfly ($160), Hoka Cielo ($160) and Adidas Takumi Sen 10 ($180). I am getting Sen 10 for my speedwork. I have heard they are more versatile than Sen 8/9. I have to admit that this year's NB running shoes are some of the most beautiful shoes I have ever seen. If Adidas is BMW, these guys are Ferraris.

@supwell I started running a few months ago and am currently training for my first half marathon in September. I'm 6'2", 240, so a bigger runner. Currently run in the SL2'S, have the 1080's for daily wear and also novablast 4's that I haven't really loved running it just yet. But I definitely want a good shoe for the half. Up for suggestions so your videos are really helpful. Would be more helpful if you'd put on 80lbs for me. 😅
For context, I Googled Emily Sisson and the article lists her at 47 kg.

Been looking forward to this shoe review, loved the rebel v3 so if it’s anything like it with the carbon plate I’m going love it. But don’t know if 200 is worth it maybe more like 180.
yeah price is a bit steep but reminds me a lot of that rebel v3 but plated. i bet we'll see some good christmas season sales somewhere that will bring the price of this down a bit - so if you can hold tight you should be able to snag at some point for $180 or lower

I hope its gonna be good, SC trainer v2 was great. I used it to run my first Marathon, ran my pr in Half Marathon and 10k but the durability sucks, when it 250km plus the foam felt different and 300km plus you can basically bend the shoe and almost worn ou but im still rocking it coz I’m broke😂

If you had to race a marathon tomorrow and go for a PR, what’s the 1 shoe you would want to try?
I'm looking at the Adidas takumi sen 10 or New balance sc pacer 2 to replace my Brooks hyperion max 1 for tempo workouts/race day (5k & 10k).
so far i prefer the sc pacer v2, especially if you're going to use it for a lot of training. it feels fast enough to race in but stability and comfort are significantly better than the takumi sen. for me even warming up and cooling down in the takumi sen can be uncomfortable - the pacer felt like i could have on my foot all day. fit is a little snug though so you may want to go up half a size if you're between sizes
how does it compared to vf2? vf2 is top narrow for me
Do you think for heavier runners this is a good shoe?
Hey i'm new to the channel. I was sent here as i was told we have a large cross over in preference for running shoes. Looking at the wear on the heel for the SC pacer would you say you tend to heel strike?

I’m a size 9 but usually size up to a 10 in running shoes. I ordered the 10 in these and my toes were smashed. I’ve had to order the 11. In my opinion these are a size smaller than they state.

Great question! Little more snap in this one from the carbon plate - definitely more of a fast race day feel. The pacer was comfortable but the SL2 would still be my pick for walking, relaxed miles etc. I also anticipate the plate in the Pacer will make it a bit better for grinding out longer workouts - but will have to do another test to see
I’ll stick with my Rebel 4 & use the dollars elsewhere. You pump out a lotta quality reviews. Bruh, you do these in your sleep too 🇺🇸 happy 4th

charli never uses a waffle mix but they were so good! if you're ever driving back from virginia on 81, you've gotta stop at the southwest virginia farmers market. we got that waffle mix there and a bunch of other awesome stuff - it's worth the stop for sure
Help me decide! Pacers or Rebels? I’m a bigger guy (250lbs) coming from Hoka Clifton 9’s wide.
Of those two choices if you're looking for something to replace the Clifton I'd definitely go for the rebels. The pacer is more aggressive with the carbon plate and a little less comfortable. Rebel is fast and light but still decent comfortable. The rebel isn't as cushioned as the Clifton though so if you like that cushioned feel I'd also suggest taking a look at the new balance 860v14. It's my favorite daily trainer and can handle any type of run - nice smooth ride like the Clifton
Saw these sell out reeaaaall quick in the UK. You think these could be a decent hyrox runner?
Definitely. This was a CrossFit style workout and they crushed it - they weren't wobbly or unstable at all and felt super nimble

I'm 6' 2" and 160lbs - felt I couldn't compress the SC Elite v4 foam that well but the Pacer was perfect

How does this compare to the rebel v4?
Bouncier, less flexible, feels a lot faster. Also feels a little more cushioned, maybe because the foam here doesn't compress as easily as the rebel's. But overall feels way more like a racing shoe but still has that classic new balance comfort

Why does the Pacer weigh the same as the Rebel? Could it be the carbon plate in the Pacer??

@@supwellit is not really a question. The carbon plate adds 30grams which easily explains the similar weight between the two shoes.
Could this be the best running shoe of the year?
For someone who loves lower profile lighter weight shoes this could definitely be shoe of the year. If I were running lower mileage or doing half marathon training this would be a top contender for sure. This year I'm personally liking a little more cushion in my top picks since I'm in a marathon training/high mileage mode
