The V1s had like 50 i think. If not 50, very close to 50. I realized how funnily high it was when I had one shoe on, and my dog took the other pair. So I was basically left to stand and chase him around the house with a shoe on one foot, and just socks on the other. The height was huge The V2s are now "normal" compared to the V1s hahaha
I’m 6’2, 200 ish pounds. The V1’s are by far my favorite shoe in my line up in terms of versatility. And that knit upper is a thing a beauty. The only issue is the rocks that I frequently have to pry out, which looks like they may have fixed on the V2’s.
I've clocked almost 300km on this shoe. It's now my go to shoe. It's worth every penny, it reminds of the alphafly 2, but without having to deal with the midfoot blisters and narrow toe box.
SC Trainer V1 had fun and breathable upper but it was incredibly uncomfortable around ankle near where the lacing starts. The padding ended just before the tongue and that part bit into the ankle. Wanted to love it but it was not meant to be.
This is going to sound a little ridiculous, but my only complaint with the v2 is picking out the roadside rocks that get lodged in the channel. Occasionally, I’ve had a Princess and the pea moment where the cushiness is so great, I didn’t realize I had a stowaway rock until I got home. 😁
when I first got the v1, I set aside a jar so I could collect all the rocks that got stuck. after 100 miles in the shoe, many of which were on gravel, I had three rocks.
Great review, thank you! I actually tried it on over the weekend at the NB store but did not buy it, however, it's definitely now in my list of shoes to buy.
I’ve been using the Saucony endorphin speed 3 for a while now. I am very happy with this shoe but for my next pair I am thinking about the NB SCT v2. How would you compare the shoe to the speed 3?
I’ve been enjoying the V2s as my first pair of carbon plated shoes! For those who’ve also tried the V1, what size should I order if I wanted to give them a try as well? Wonder if if the fit was similar, size wise. Thanks!!
that's an oversimplified way of looking at things, but if you want a lighter shoe, go for it. it's a good shoe that a lot of people enjoy. I do think that they are different shoes for different tasks, but a sale SC Elite 3 could provide an interesting overlap
How durable do you find the new "super trainers"? I can take a pair of NB 880 or Novablast to 500-600 miles. Can the SuperComp make it to 500, or will the foam break down like a racing shoe? I have the SC v1 now and love it. Its been my tempo day shoe for my marathon training this summer. I'm debating if I should pick up a second pair of V1 for next year. As a larger (195), older (52), heel striker, I credit the super tall, super soft V1 for taking care of my legs this season.
I’d pick up another pair (or two) of v1 at a discount and then go to v2. I think you’ll still really enjoy them, but they’re fairly different than last year
Hi Kofuzi, always see your video before buying some shoes because your great content. i Already had saucony triumph 21 for recovery-very easy run, adidas boston 12 for daily trainer-tempo run, and asics superblast for my sunday long run. is it worthed to buy this shoes for race day and long run with race day pace? or just go to race day shoes like adios pro 3 or metaspeed? my only thought is race day shoes is not durable and not versatile
Hey kofuzi. I just love watching your videos. I just want a suggestion from you. In india im finding v1 for 180 usd. And v2 for just 100 usd. So which should i go for daily training purpose. And i m a heel striker too. And i want high cushioning for impact protection for my knees. Waiting for your valuable feedback.
@@kofuzi thanks very much. So i m ordering the v2 on your recommendation. And saving few bucks as well. And i m getting the exciting orange colour as well.
First reaction is that those shoes are opposites, but the more I think about them, the more I think that those shoes do compete in the same space to an extent. They both are pretty good at moderate to easy/moderate paces, although they achieve that from very different means
Yeeoo! Great review! I still regularly wear my SC v1 trainer but i'm starting to rotate this one in occasionally now. More importantly THAT SHIRT looks great on you🔥
I didn’t try the V1, but I have the V2 and I have been enjoying it so far. It took my feet some adjusting to the carbon plate since these are my first carbon plated shoes.
I have both v1 and v2. V1 is really fun, but I think it is exclusively for easy pace and recovery. Great for elder/heavy built or injury prone runners. V2 is different, but I also love it, it's more like a daily trainer and for me is a hundred times better than the Kinvara. Also, I think you need to run much faster in the Superblast (fantastic shoe anyway) than in the v2. 180 dollars is a lot of money, but the quality of materials in the v2 is outstanding.
Thanks Ko!!! For the review! I love this V2 more than V1. I think it’s because it’s a little more squishy, more stable than V1. I felt this model, I can feel more of the return of energy and bounce.
This is one of those tricky colorways that looks white on a screen, but in hand, it's definitely blue... but I like it! New Balance has been my brand of choice this year, pairing with the Rebel v3.
That’s interesting. I feel like the Rebel 3 is so low slung that it might not appeal to a SC Trainer 2 fan. I like them both, but I think you and I may be in the minority
I wanted to love this shoe but after wearing the Superblast as my go to shoe this year I find the SC V2 to be too squishy and I’m fighting with the shoe to get the responsiveness that I’m looking for. I keep coming back to it thinking maybe this run it will feel good underfoot but it just hasn’t happened after over 50 miles in it
Since you’d recommend this for marathon workouts, would you race a full marathon in this if you didn’t want to get a marathon race only shoe? Im looking for a long run shoe that has speed in the workout that I can also use for my marathon race this fall without needing to get two shoes.
I felt the V1 didn’t have much in the forefoot either so didn’t love it as much as heel strikers probably did. Superblast is my go to for Max Cushion category. Just a great all around shoe that can do it all
Im about 30miles in the SC Trainer 2 and loving it. Im going to try it in a half next month. My only complaint is that I’d prefer a smidgen more space in the toe-box.
I still don't understand the need for carbon fiber in a training shoe. Slap a nylon plate in it if you must al la Endorphin Speed and save the carbon for race day. Although... lowering the stack height to 40mm _does_ make it street legal now. 🤔Congrats on finding a shoe that makes you happy even before the magic version three.
Been rotating V1 with a Novablast 3 this season where I didn’t have a marathon on the calendar. Definitely getting V2, but considering pairing with that Puma DN2 or the Saucony Endorphine Speed 3. Tried one on and it felt a lot like a Novablast 3 but an even more comfortable upper. The lacing was surprisingly impressive.

So is this a daily trainer even though it has a carbon plate in? I'm looking for a max cushioned/recovery shoe to do long runs in as a heavier runner (210lbs) who is prone to leg and back injury. This shoe might be it, but just checking given it has a carbon plate I read elsewhere plates shouldn't be used in daily training?
I'm worried that they made the SC Trainer V2s too much of a different ride experience compared to the V1. They overlap but the key workouts I'd define each by are these: the Deviate Nitro 2 I'd use for threshold repeats. The SC Trainer 2 I'd use for long runs with marathon effort miles. so it depends on what you need.
Max cushion shoes are a scam. All that foam takes the fun out of running. And how heavy do you really have to be to reap any health benefits from the extra height... A few hundred ks and they feel like a brick.
40 meters of stack height? That's a very tall stack. 😅
The V1s had like 50 i think. If not 50, very close to 50. I realized how funnily high it was when I had one shoe on, and my dog took the other pair. So I was basically left to stand and chase him around the house with a shoe on one foot, and just socks on the other. The height was huge

Im stuck now haha this or the puma you did 100miles in????? Please help im getting one today. Im currently in saucony speed 2s toes hurt and shins hurt but i dont heel strike. Superblast you cant get in Australia atm either
They overlap but the key workouts I'd define each by are these: the Deviate Nitro 2 I'd use for threshold repeats. The SC Trainer 2 I'd use for long runs with marathon effort miles.
so it depends on what you need.
no thanks. look at those logo and brand name. i won't let them turn me into a walking/running billboard
You’re only a walking billboard if you’re not running fast enough?
Another Great Vid! Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Would this shoe be fit comfortably with wider front foot guy?
It is available in a wide
@@kofuzithanks. But do you think that NB shoes is true to size, or do we have to upscale one size?

YUZ!!!! Thanks for this ko! I've been eyeing this shoe for a while
Hope the video is helpful!
Max cushion shoes are a scam. All that foam takes the fun out of running. And how heavy do you really have to be to reap any health benefits from the extra height... A few hundred ks and they feel like a brick.
It’s a wonderful time to be a runner. There are a variety of shoes to cater to a variety of preferences. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
Well said! @@kofuzi
