The GameCube always reminds me of the Dreamcast. Secretly powerful, immediately identifiable library, amazing console design, and completely underappreciated.
I appear to be missing a few gems from my GameCube collection also.. since my discovery, my man cave is off limits. What made it even more frustrating was noticing that my copy of Path of Radiance was amongst the missing gems.. that game was one of my favourites growing up and isn’t exactly cheap to replace nowadays, especially not in the UK (my younger self was far too trusting). 😢
I recently discovered that my copy of RC Pro AM 2 was missing from its box after a re-consolidation of my games inventory. It's not Game Cube; it's original NES. But it's so devastating because it's one of those games that you wouldn't expect to be worth a lot of money that's worth A LOT of money. It's going to take between $80 and $100 USD to replace it. I'll never let anyone (save for my wife) have access to my games again. You just can't trust people.
The GameCube holds a special place for me. I remember walking into GameStop and asking about Metroid Prime having really no idea what it was all about. It was cheap so I picked it up, and to say I was blown away is an understatement. That game completely changed how I view video games. Atmosphere, art, music, immersive gameplay and storytelling, it doesn’t get any better. Hollow Knight did that recently for me too.

Great video John.
Resident Evil 4 is the reason why I bought a GameCube. Another game I absolutely loved on the GC that you didn't mention was Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Excellent game!
The most hours I put into gaming on the gamecube was super monkey ball 2 , it was an absolute pleasure to play with friends as all the mini games were so much fun . At first it seemed that this was a children's game but soon the levels became very competitive , I would heartily recommend this to anyone who wants to play a challenging game that is so much fun to play on your own but gets five times better with friends around .

Johnny, what a trip through memory lane. I love the GameCube and its games. Evelyn laughed when you said you smoked when sailing across the seas, and that it was so relaxing. Your list of games are spot on and I had a feeling your number 1 was Phantasy Star Online.
I remember randomly finding Baten Kaitos Eternal Wings and Baten Kaitos Origins on GC 70% off, I had no idea what it was but I bought them and ended up loving it. Those two games are my top 2, I replay them all the time, the voice acting was amazing to me at the time despite some quality issues.
MY favourite Gamcube Games: The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess The Legend of Zelda - Wind Waker Killer 7 F - Zero GX Metroid Prime 1 Metroid Prime 2 Resident Evil Zero Mario Kart Double Dash Luigis Mansion Eternal Darkness

Definitely Star Wars Rogue Leader. I remember when my brother and me took the Gamecube over to our father's house. We hooked up the s-video cable to his big screen tv and his killer stereo system. It was an amazing experience.

Ill stop now because I could go on forever... what a beast of a machine. Ill love it forever.
The funny thing about the complaints that Luigi's Mansion is too short is that it's ended up one of my most played Gamecube games because it's so brief. My wife and I both do a replay through every now and again.
Skies of Arcadia Legends is the most influential Gamecube game and one of the most influential RPGs for me. Viewtiful Joe and Megaman Network Transmission are second and third respectively.
I bought a Gamecube just for Resident Evil when it launched. I mostly played Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 4, & Eternal Darkness. I would say one of my biggest regrets is not playing more Gamecube games at that time. I remembered playing Luigi's Mansion at a Suncoast in the mall. I enjoyed it, but wasn't sure if I could justify picking up a console for it.
In Metroid Prime, I really enjoyed reading all the notes about the pirates experimenting with the Phazon. It got darker and darker as the game progressed.
The GameCube was such big part of my childhood. It wasn't most powerful or most advance console. But a lot fun games and who can forget! The cool looking small disc lol
The one I've spent the most hours and actually days on was the GameCube game with a bunch of Zelda games on it. It had the first Zelda and Zelda 2 and a couple other ones.
The Zelda Collector's Edition was one of the first games I ever owned. I got a second copy as a hand me down from a family friend and I ended up giving that to my buddy Joe as a birthday present. God, I miss middle school.
Back in the days I skipped the Gamecube cuz I bought a PS2(which in my opinion is a million times better) but now I emulate the Gamecube games I was curious about. Baten Kaitos is probably my favorite of all the GC exclusives I played so far. Amazing jrpg that not many people know about. Has one of the best plot twists in games btw!
I recently noticed my copy of Shaq Fu had gone missing. All that was left in the Shaq Fu box box was a note that said, "You're welcome." I think I'm okay with this.
The wind waker theme is forever my favorite theme. WHen I saw the symphony live and they played the wind waker medley and they played it I almost cried.
Very nice list, but a game i like that everyone forgets. Billy Hatcher! What a wonderful goofy Sega game. I miss the days when company's would take chances.
F-Zero GX & Path of Radiance. Good choices. Those two are some of my favourites too. I also love Melee, Soul Calibur II & 1080 Avalanche. The Gamecube was such a good system.
I was so addicted to Phantasy Star Online on Gamecube as soon as I heard the music sneaking in while you were talking I knew! Great game and another great vid Johnny!
Still remember the allgengamers podcast with you and Pete Dorr talking about your Phantasy Star Online addiction and Gamester81 had to jump in to stop lol
I was texting a friend that I was playing N64 all day and he texted wow... How productive but the statement at the end of the video hits home, I don't feel like I'm wasting my life when I play games, I'm active, I work I go to the gym and gaming is a hobby that enhances my life not wasting it
My top favorite GameCube games: 1) Super Smash Bros: Melee 2) Sonic Adventure 2: Battle 3) Phantasy Star Online: Episode I and II 4) Metroid Prime 2: Echoes 5) Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life 6) Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes 7) Second Sight 8) The Urbz: Sims in the City 9) The Sims 2 10) Super Mario Sunshine

My top ten in no particular order. But these were the most memorable GameCube games for me. 1. Mario Sunshine 2. RE 4 3. Mario Kart DD 4. Luigi’s Mansion 5. WaveRace 6. Windwaker 7. Resident Evil remake 8. Wrestlemania XIX 9. F Zero 10. Metroid Prime
The GameCube was my system of choice back in the day which made everyone look at me funny, but it seemed like they were always wanting to come over to my place to play. I'll be honest, I didn't have many of the consoles bigger games which saddens me now as I realize I missed out on a lot, but I really enjoyed Kirby's Airride, Sonic Heroes, Billy Hatcher, Pokemon Collosseum, and the many wrestling games. One of these days I think I'll see what I missed out on.
Great video as always, Johnny. I remember back in the early 2000s all my friends had ps2s and I was one of the only people in my circle who had a gamecube, and I'm so thankful for that, because I wouldn't trade the memories I made with the games on that console for anything.
@happyconsolegamer - I was waiting for this top 10. So many nostalgic memories with the Gamecube, great list :) I’m surprised though that “Skies of Arcadia” didn’t make your honorable mention list considering how much you loved the soundtrack and DC version.
Johnny Millenium's (HappyConsoleGamer) Top 10 Gamecube List: *Honorable Mentions* Wave Race BlueStorm Super Smash Bros. Melee Legend of Zelda, The - Twilight Princess (GCN version) Resident Evil (GCN version) Paper Mario - The Thousand Year Door *Top Ten List* 10. Resident Evil 4 9. Pikmin 8. Luigi's Mansion 7. Animal Crossing (GCN version) 6. F-Zero GX 5. Super Mario Sunshine 4. Fire Emblem - Path of Radiance 3. Metroid Prime 2. Legend of Zelda, The - Wind Waker 1. Phantasy Star Online - Episode I & II Notes: Doubutsu no Mori (Animal Forest) was first released in Japan only for the N64. They later made Doubutsu no Mori+ and that's the gamecube version with some new features.
Personally, I wouldn't pick multi-platform games for a console list if they are available on two or three consoles as an example, so I wouldn't have personally picked Resident Evil 4 though I might give it honorable mentions as it DID COME OUT as a timed exclusive for the gamecube early on making it a desirable game on the gamecube for a period of time.
Man, the gamecube was great, Mine, in no particular order would be: -Baten Kaitos Origins/Eternal Wings and Lost Ocean -Tales of Symphonia -Zelda Wind Waker -Smash bros Melee -Star fox Assault, yes assault -Resident Evil 4 -Paper Mario Thousand Year Door -Luigi's Mansion -Viewtiful Joe 1/2 -Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness

Viewtiful Joe 2 8. Baten Kaitos 9. The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess 10. F Zero GX Honerable mentions: Mario Kart Double Dash, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Metroid Prime 2, Fifa Street, Super Smash Bros Melee, Baten Kaitos Origin(They should've released it in Europe these cowards) I really like my gamecube a lot. Both Gamecube and PS2 were my favorite systems because PS2 FFX, KH1 and KH2, DMC1 and DMC3, SMT, SMT Persona 3 and 4, and more. I really hoped that the Gamecube had as many third party as PS2 and original Xbox.
For me, though I didn't own a gamecube, these were my favorite titles that came from it: Metroid Prime; Fire Emblem: PoR; Resident Evil 4 & Twilight Princess.
HappyConsoleGamer. You seriously are the best youtuber there is and I sincerely want you to know that. Your videos are so passionate and just extremely a joy to watch. Dont think you ever go unnoticed!
The Gamecube era was when I stopped dividing my time between console and PC gaming. I have soooooo many Gamecube games to get through and experience for the first time... it's great! Thanks for your Gamecube hit list, I am clueless when it comes to the GC library.
Great list! You should start the music a little later in your reveals though - while you were still creating suspense with your explanation when revealing a game, I knew most of them immediately through the background music ;)
1. Metroid Prime 2. Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness 3. The Incredibles 4. Pokémon Colosseum 5. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle 6. Zelda WW 7. Tomb Raider Legend 8. Super Mario Sunshine 9. Zelda TP 10. RE4
Great list Johnny. It was very interesting to see your reasons and stories from each game in your top 10 and all those games were really top 10 Gamecube games on most people's list. However I was shocked you didnt mention Double Dash. I know you had F Zero GX for other racing games on your list but Double Dash was surprised you didnt talk. about it. One of the best racing games on the gamecube and a fan favorite among many. You probably did play Double Dash but wondered what you liked more with F Zero that Double Dash didnt have. Other than that, great top 10 Gamecube video.
Love all the ones you mentioned but a few of the ones you didn't are eternal darkness, Chibi robo, Mario kart double dash, donkey kong jungle beat, a platformer with bongos amazing!, tales of symphonia, metal gear solid the twin snakes and 1080 avalanche. Can't believe how many great games there were. It was the first console I ever bought for myself and I had the best time
The Gamecube was the first console i ever “owned” (it was a gift for Christmas and was set up in my room) and i had 2 games i’ll never forget: Luigi’s Mansion and The Legend of Zelda Collector’s Edition. Oh, my, God, was my mind blown as a kid when i first popped that tiny disk in and saw that i had access to SO MANY ADVENTURES with Link. It was truly a magical experience and i’m so grateful to have had such fun times with all those wonderful games (shoutout to twilight princess, my personal favorite of the series ❤️)
Great video! Thanks for the memories. Some thoughts and memories of my own: Metroid Prime~ I remember people nay saying the conversion to 3d and i used to hang out in Gamefan magazine's irc chat and even after the game was released there were still people who refused to play it, in spite of being told how amazing it was. I wonder if they ever got into it... Animal Crossing ~ Remember seeing this article in a magazine detailing a bizarre Japanese game where you fish, catch insects, decorate your home etc. and i was immediately excited about it. I never thought it would come West and flipped out when it did. Wind Waker~ My favourite 3d Zelda title still. Never had a problem with the graphical style as many did. And i actually enjoyed the seafaring although i was no longer smoking at that time lol
Glad to see what your number one was. That's my most favorite too. We had the same keyboard and eventually bought Episode I & II Plus and Episode III wasn't bad either.
My favorite GameCube game will always be Mario kart double dash. First game I ever played in my life, I was 5, now I’m 20 with hundreds of games. Crazy how time flies.
Here's my personal top 10 10. Skies of Arcadia (Best RPG on the system) 9. Killer 7 8. Metroid Prime (Best of the prime series too) 7. Fire Emblem PoR (This is quickly becoming one of my favorites) 6. Sonic Adventure DX (Favorite sonic game) 5. Mario Kart: DD (Best Mario kart by far) 4. Kirby Air ride (Childhood favorite) 3. Super Mario Sunshine (Best platformer on the system) 2. LoZ: Windwaker (Best zelda don't @ me) 1. SSBM (One of the first games I've ever played, and It's by far in my top 5 games of all time) The gamecube is my favorite console of all time.
That's gotta really piss you off Johnny about the Paper Mario game, I can't let my own sister in my room because she steals like that and lies about it, joys of family..
It's amazing how much in value GameCube games have shot up over the years. When I worked AT GameStop we were flooded with these games and couldn't get rid of them. Now it's like finding a diamond at a garage sale.
The GameCube always reminds me of the Dreamcast. Secretly powerful, immediately identifiable library, amazing console design, and completely underappreciated.

I agree all the games you picked for this video are amoung the best.
Without question, Tales of Symphonia and Skies of Arcadia: Legends.
Both are amazing rpg's. Couple years ago there was a huge sale on PS3 and I bought like 5 or 6 Tales of games for $34.
Yup Tales of Symphonia is my childhood. My #1 game of ALL time still.
Skies of Arcadia Legends and both Baten Kaitos games would have spots on mine.
Ebay sells em' frequently.
The price is pretty steep last time I checked.
Can't believe you haven't done a top 10 Cube video until now! Growing up with N64 and GameCube was the best

100% hidden gem!
I would have to have Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II and Mario Kart Double Dash in my top 10.
Star Wars games were pretty much all I played on my GC. RS2, Clone Wars, Bounty Hunter. GC and N64 had so many great SW games.
For sure both need to be top 10. Double dash is up there with N64 Mario kart games

Great video Johnny! The GameCube and the PS1 are tied for me for my favourite console. Nice to see some love for this great machine
Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, Baten Kaitos 1 and 2, bomberman generations, wario world, pikmin 1 &2. Lost kingdoms 1&2. Soul calibur 2. Metroid prime1&2. Skies of arcadia, tales of... , XIII, Batallion Wars, Luigis mansion, paper mario ttyd, primal fury, wave race, 1080 avalanche, ssx tricky, pokemon colosseum and XD, Fire emblem, Gotcha force, Chibi robo, smash bros, four swords adventures, wind waker, twilight princess, sonic adventure 1 &2... not to mention all the amazing star wars games.
Mines is
1.Gotcha Force
2.Eternal Darkness
3.Billy Hatcher
4.Viewful Joe
5.Kirby air ride
5.
The first night after playing RE on Gcube, I nearly wet the bed.
Prior I had beaten RE2 on N64. But the Gcube was incredible.
Viewtiful Joe and Soul Calibur II w/ Link would definitely be on my top list for GCN.
...And both were released during the same year oddly enough.
Yup the special promo disc. I had 2 copies. I ended up selling them for over a hundred each
LoZ Linnks Awakening Oceania of Time and Majora's Mask
The Zelda Collector's Edition was one of the first games I ever owned. I got a second copy as a hand me down from a family friend and I ended up giving that to my buddy Joe as a birthday present. God, I miss middle school.
Back in the days I skipped the Gamecube cuz I bought a PS2(which in my opinion is a million times better) but now I emulate the Gamecube games I was curious about.
Baten Kaitos is probably my favorite of all the GC exclusives I played so far.
Amazing jrpg that not many people know about. Has one of the best plot twists in games btw!
The metal gear solid remake is what made me get a gamecube and i loved it.
Specifically Sega. Nowadays it's eother Sonic or nothing. They have so many great IPs that they just don' t do anything with.
Underrated multiplayer game. I remember my good buddy making me try it when I was like 12 and we played it quite a bit
I lent my copy of Paper Mario to a guy back when I still lent things out to people and never saw it again
bradybrapples dude same I lent out my copy of bioshock... worst mistake ever lmao
Same story with my Saturn copy of Sexy Parodius...
I did the same thing with Suikoden 2, but lucked out when I ran into the guy a few years later and was able to get it back.
F-Zero GX & Path of Radiance. Good choices. Those two are some of my favourites too. I also love Melee, Soul Calibur II & 1080 Avalanche. The Gamecube was such a good system.
Thank you for continuing to bring back the memories ;D
There is one inescapable conclusion I came to watching this video, Charles Martinet boosted your Paper Mario!
I was so addicted to Phantasy Star Online on Gamecube as soon as I heard the music sneaking in while you were talking I knew! Great game and another great vid Johnny!
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is my favorite.

Viewtiful Joe was AWESOME!!! I hope that we get a Switch Port
Same. I had a ps2 and wouldn't trade it for xbox or gamecube. Thankfully my cousins had them so we could all enjoy every console
@happyconsolegamer - I was waiting for this top 10. So many nostalgic memories with the Gamecube, great list :) I’m surprised though that “Skies of Arcadia” didn’t make your honorable mention list considering how much you loved the soundtrack and DC version.

Notes: Doubutsu no Mori (Animal Forest) was first released in Japan only for the N64.

I really like my gamecube a lot. Both Gamecube and PS2 were my favorite systems because PS2 FFX, KH1 and KH2, DMC1 and DMC3, SMT, SMT Persona 3 and 4, and more. I really hoped that the Gamecube had as many third party as PS2 and original Xbox.
This was a very very good review of a system not alot of people talk about. Regularly
Thank you!! appreciated! :D
The Gamecube era was when I stopped dividing my time between console and PC gaming. I have soooooo many Gamecube games to get through and experience for the first time... it's great! Thanks for your Gamecube hit list, I am clueless when it comes to the GC library.
Have you played Eternal Darkness? My favorite Gamecube game by far
Twilight princess, man i loved that game. Its a tie at 1st for me with metroid prime
It was soo much better on GC, given it had a real controller and didn't have the stupid waggle mechanics.
Great list! You should start the music a little later in your reveals though - while you were still creating suspense with your explanation when revealing a game, I knew most of them immediately through the background music ;)
Man the Gamecube really did have a stacked library of fantastic games!
Loved your list!
1. Metroid Prime
2. Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness
3. The Incredibles
4. Pokémon Colosseum
5. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
6. Zelda WW
7. Tomb Raider Legend
8. Super Mario Sunshine
9. Zelda TP
Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II took most of my time on the GameCube. One of the greatest.
Glad to see what your number one was. That's my most favorite too. We had the same keyboard and eventually bought Episode I & II Plus and Episode III wasn't bad either.
Mario Sunshine, underrated classic, loved it!
My favorite GameCube game will always be Mario kart double dash. First game I ever played in my life, I was 5, now I’m 20 with hundreds of games. Crazy how time flies.
Here's my personal top 10
10. Skies of Arcadia (Best RPG on the system)
9. Killer 7
8. Metroid Prime (Best of the prime series too)
7. Fire Emblem PoR (This is quickly becoming one of my favorites)
6. Sonic Adventure DX (Favorite sonic game)
5. Mario Kart: DD (Best Mario kart by far)
4. Kirby Air ride (Childhood favorite)
3. Super Mario Sunshine (Best platformer on the system)
2. LoZ: Windwaker (Best zelda don't @ me)
1. SSBM (One of the first games I've ever played, and It's by far in my top 5 games of all time)
The gamecube is my favorite console of all time.
I play my Gamcube games in a Sony Trinitron CRT with svideo hook up. Cube Games look great with scanlines
Excellent video... loved every second! "Happy" to have you around... keep up the good work!!! Greetings from Brazil... ^_^
The GameCube could certainly use more love. F-Zero GX is my favorite game on the system by a considerable margin and a top 10 All-Time Arcade Racer.
