The GameCube is such an underrated console. I absolutely loved mine. Just a basic console with no gimmicks and not once did it crash or break on me. 10/10
It's cool and all to go back now and play the games you want but trust me owning this system back in the day was pretty painful because there would be long stretches with no releases or no good releases (we're talking 3-4 games over a period of 5+ months) and those 3-4 games would be mediocre ports of games that came out on PS2 a year+ earlier. It was tough having the GC as your only modern console at the time. You really needed an Xbox or PS2 as well. Sadly I was a kid and couldn't afford to have more than one console so I had to sell mine to fund a PS2 as I just couldn't wait 6+ months each time for a good new game to come out.
Adam Solomon the only reason I bought it was because was like 15 and had no money and didn’t expect it to wow me as much as it did . Mario sunshine is imo the best Mario I have ever played

Spintechfilms I agree. I also like that they took chances with gameplay in some of their games (ie Double Dash, Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion, etc.)
@star Yeah, I guess the main difference is that the Switch's main gimmick (being a home console that you can also take anywhere with you) actually has a practical use and it doesn't feel weird or shoehorned in. It's not like "Hey here's a second screen on the controller that 3rd party devs can implement poorly" or "Let's put useless waggle controls into games that do nothing other than copy a generic button press" like it has been in the past sometimes. It's a huge step in the right direction for sure.
I’d actually recommend Call of Duty 2 big red one, it was specifically made for last gen systems never getting a PC release. Out of the entire call of duty series it’s in my top 5. And interesting bit is that they got several actors from HBO’s Band of Brothers to do the voices. It’s such a obscure title in a well know franchise that barely anyone talks about today
Same here! I can’t believe how you never hear about this game, but it was brilliantly done. Many hours were spent on my copy and I don’t even know how many times I’ve replayed it.
I picked up Big Red One earlier this year for the first time and I'm really enjoying it. And this is coming from someone who doesn't really like FPS games and barely plays them. Just shows what a solid game it is.

metal jesus i cannot believe you dont have/didnt show zelda four swords adventures on gamecube if you like zelda games you will LOVE this .its a wonderful game
Seeing the master quest disc made me remember I had a disc that also had Majora's Mask on it. It was a promotional disk for the Gamecube. I think you got it if you pre-ordered the Gamecube. It comes with A link to the Past, Adventures of Link, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask. I believe the Master Quest disc was a promotion for pre-ordering Wind Waker. It contains a demo of WW and the 4-pack disc contains a bunch of trailers for other games.
Great games you have there, 3 games I highly recommend picking up: - Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (Giant Crabs? YES!) - R: Racing Evolution (a blend of arcade and sim-style racing with soap opera cutscenes) - Simpson's Hit & Run (Grand Theft Auto in the Simpson's world with great writing and cutscenes) If you have only played the 1st Burnout on Gamecube, I would also recommend getting the 2nd, it was the first to really exploit the crash mode. Honorable mentions: Beyond Good & Evil (best water), P.N.03 (play it like a SHMUP to understand it), Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy (hidden gem of a 3rd party game, careful of game breaking bugs though)
There's a great story behind it. Check out reference 3 on the wiki page (the archived preview from computer games magazine). It was conceived by a drunken producer as a giant middle finger to stupid licensed games. There's also a big box pc version, btw.
MJR, you made many amazing and cool videos, it's just so fun to explore your earlier work. This is one of my favorite videos you did. Thank you for everything you do.
Harvest moon isn't for everyone but it's additive and a very well thought out story line I LOVE it. I have both and have spent countless hours on them. Highly suggest playing it!
Have very fond memories of playing my friend’s Gamecube at university 15 years ago. Loved Wave Racer - our whole house used to take great pleasure in beating each other’s best times. Never played the N65 version though. Also, loved Mario Sunshine too - still don’t understand why some don’t rate it so much.
im super stoked :D bought a Region switch modded Orange spice Gamecube the other day CIB with the controllers and the Gameboy player/cd, I cannot wait to relive my childhood by playing many of the games you listed and then some.
Darkened Skye is a game produced by Skittles. The exploration is a lot like "Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword" with weird forks in the road. The graphics are like Skyrim had a baby with "Time Splitters". Also, the voice acting is like "Time Splitters".
This is the last system they tried to keep up spec wise. But didn't go full force. And then they went out the box full time. God bless them. Hope third parties get their shit together for switch.
I feel the same. The GC was Nintendo's last system when they gave an actual fuck about staying competitive with the console market. Their last two (and current) systems hardware-wise have been a total joke. Sales figures aside, if they can't have the same 1:1 third-party ports as MS and Sony can... their systems are only good for the first-parties. That's not good enough.
MetallicBlade lol The most powerful console doesn't get all the games. PS1, PS2, Xbox 360 (it was super close, though), and Wii were all the weakest systems in their generation, and they got lots of 3rd party games lol
"Tried to keep up" is a little bit of an understatement though. It walks over the Ps2 and arguably has a more powerful cpu over Xbox (intensive 60 fps games like F-Zero GX). Nintendo finally produces an awesome competent machine w/o hardware bottlenecks unlike Snes and N64 and no one buys it, rip lol.
Space Raiders did get a PS2 release in Europe called Space Invaders: Invasion Day. It's a fun take on the original and I'm glad it's part of my collection. Thanks for inspiring me to start my own channel - you're a star!
This was my collection when I was little, then my mom made me sell them all ;-; but the thing is, ima huge collector now and I sold them when I was like 9.
There are a few systems that I wish I didnt ignore back in the day, and GameCube is one of them. I mostly played my PS2 or my roommates' xbox. However, I have been playing GameCube more and more. I got my action replay disk and SD card memory card adapter working, so I can use Gameboy Interface for Gameboy Player games, I can also play GameCube game backups that way, I also figured out that 8bitdo's SNES receiver works with Ralphnet's SNES->GameCube adapter, so I can use a Bluetooth SNES controller for Gameboy Player games. Now I just need a hdmi adapter (waiting for Badass Console's version) and I am all set for GameCube greatness.
You should try to get a copy of Odama, that's definitely one of the most unique games on the system. A combination of voice controlled real time strategy and pinball from the creator of the Dreamcast classic Seaman
Battalion Wars! So good and so overlooked! Metal Arms: Glitch In the System was another massively overlooked masterpiece! (It was on other consoles as well though, never got the love it deserved!)
The Gamecube is such a weird console. If you have the later model it doesn't support digital video output, but even if you do have the original with digital out you can't use it unless you have $200 component cables. Icing on the cake, the wii can play all gamecube games identically to the original hardware and is basically free get digital output for... You know what the best part is? I have 8 Gamecube games and all together they're worth $300... Love you nintendo
Metal Arms Glitch in the System, Beyond Good & Evil, Resident Evil 4, Zeldas, Sphinx. Glad you mentioned 007 EON and Haunted Mansion! Also, the first Harry Potter game (long load times but really fun), and some of the Tak games.
I was pretty pumped to see you finally mention Custom Robo in a Gamecube video. I had always wondered if you just didn't particularly enjoy it or had somehow not known about it. Super underrated game and still holds up today in my opinion.
20:45 *I loved Pac-Man vs so much that I put in all my Photoshop skills an created a custom full boxart cover from the base Idea of this double pack box.* It took quite some weeks to finish because I wanted it to be as authentic as possible for an European realease, so I had to create the actual barcode for this and all the legal disclaimers, some ingame screenshots on the back and the age rating... It was soooo damn frustrating, but the result is really satisfying. MJR if you like I can send you a version of this custom cover as well, but I only made EU-de version because I did not care for US release that much^^
I'm so glad you talked about Custom Robo! It's gotta be one of my favorite GameCube games ever! I was going to ask if you knew about it if you didn't talk about it. It deserves so much more attention!
Nice video! Entitled whiners are just jealous of you Metal Jesus! most collectors don't have the time to play everything they pick up right away. I have so many games that I've bought and haven't really played yet. In good time, all in good time.
That's the conundrum of life itself. When you are a kid you have a lot of free time to play but not a lot of money to spend on games. When you are an adult you have a lot more money but a lot less time...
Recently started collecting retro. Mostly GameCube an ps2. Just trying to collect stuff I grew up with no bull crap in game purchases. Really love the classics

metal jesus i cannot believe you dont have/didnt show zelda four swords adventures on gamecube if you like zelda games you will LOVE this
.its a wonderful game
Seeing the master quest disc made me remember I had a disc that also had Majora's Mask on it. It was a promotional disk for the Gamecube. I think you got it if you pre-ordered the Gamecube. It comes with A link to the Past, Adventures of Link, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask. I believe the Master Quest disc was a promotion for pre-ordering Wind Waker. It contains a demo of WW and the 4-pack disc contains a bunch of trailers for other games.
That Switch sign 😍

Great games you have there, 3 games I highly recommend picking up:
- Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (Giant Crabs? YES!)
- R: Racing Evolution (a blend of arcade and sim-style racing with soap opera cutscenes)
- Simpson's Hit & Run (Grand Theft Auto in the Simpson's world with great writing and cutscenes)
If you have only played the 1st Burnout on Gamecube, I would also recommend getting the 2nd, it was the first to really exploit the crash mode. Honorable mentions: Beyond Good & Evil (best water), P.N.03 (play it like a SHMUP to understand it), Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy (hidden gem of a 3rd party game, careful of game breaking bugs though)
Darkened Skye is actually a secret Skittles game. Dead ass serious. The candy. You use Skittles to cast magic.
SERIOUSLY?!?! HAHAHA. I'll definitely have to try it then
Yup, you'd never be able to tell by looking at it. It's something truly bizarre.
There's a great story behind it. Check out reference 3 on the wiki page (the archived preview from computer games magazine). It was conceived by a drunken producer as a giant middle finger to stupid licensed games. There's also a big box pc version, btw.
I love GC as well.
Congratulations for your collection.
Top 2 games for me were: Mario Sunshine and Zelda Wind Waker
I am surprised you don’t have super smash brothers melee
MJR, you made many amazing and cool videos, it's just so fun to explore your earlier work. This is one of my favorite videos you did. Thank you for everything you do.
Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance is officially licensed by the NFL?? lol
Nate B i was looking for this exact comment, thanks
That game ended soo quick I was disappointed
Final boss is John Madden’s turducken. Common knowledge.
If you go into your inventory and drop a helmet you get a 15yd penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Harvest moon isn't for everyone but it's additive and a very well thought out story line I LOVE it. I have both and have spent countless hours on them. Highly suggest playing it!
We Love your videos!
Rock on metal Jesus. Rock on! 🤘
Have very fond memories of playing my friend’s Gamecube at university 15 years ago. Loved Wave Racer - our whole house used to take great pleasure in beating each other’s best times. Never played the N65 version though. Also, loved Mario Sunshine too - still don’t understand why some don’t rate it so much.
you been on a gamecube binge lately, great video!
I know. Love it!
im super stoked :D bought a Region switch modded Orange spice Gamecube the other day CIB with the controllers and the Gameboy player/cd, I cannot wait to relive my childhood by playing many of the games you listed and then some.
I am a simple man - I see GameCube, I press like and subscribe :)
This was also the last Nintendo console before Switch where third parties (the good ones, NOT the Wii ones) even bothered to support Nintendo.
MetallicBlade
lol
The most powerful console doesn't get all the games. PS1, PS2, Xbox 360 (it was super close, though), and Wii were all the weakest systems in their generation, and they got lots of 3rd party games lol
MetallicBlade This Guy is a complete joke
"Tried to keep up" is a little bit of an understatement though. It walks over the Ps2 and arguably has a more powerful cpu over Xbox (intensive 60 fps games like F-Zero GX). Nintendo finally produces an awesome competent machine w/o hardware bottlenecks unlike Snes and N64 and no one buys it, rip lol.
Space Raiders did get a PS2 release in Europe called Space Invaders: Invasion Day. It's a fun take on the original and I'm glad it's part of my collection. Thanks for inspiring me to start my own channel - you're a star!
Hold on a moment: how does a game "end up" in your collection :P ?
Gotcha force is my fav gamecube of all time. We had a copy as a kid. I was shocked when I walked into a gamestore and saw it was 150$
This was my collection when I was little, then my mom made me sell them all ;-; but the thing is, ima huge collector now and I sold them when I was like 9.
MetalJesus rockin a CRT monitor and TV in 2018. Dude is legit.
It's the only way to play these old games!
There's no better way to play these older systems... I also have a CRT television and it's awesome
Pros of being a melee player, I never got rid of my gamecube + CRT, which comes in handy for retro consoles
I like that you named that little yoshi RIMJOB at 4:02.
The Zelda Collector's Edition, even though it's expensive
You should try to get a copy of Odama, that's definitely one of the most unique games on the system. A combination of voice controlled real time strategy and pinball from the creator of the Dreamcast classic Seaman
I have to ask... WHERE'S MELEE?
Metal Jesus has his game room set up very nicely. I like the way he has everything organized.
I think Wood from BeatEmUps sent those TY platformer games
Battalion Wars! So good and so overlooked! Metal Arms: Glitch In the System was another massively overlooked masterpiece! (It was on other consoles as well though, never got the love it deserved!)
no super smash bros?
Xzar931 yeah, where is melee???
That's a commen gem
eliandfern1 it's the most sold game on the game cube it's like a legend also you call it common gem even when it cost 55 dollars used
in chicago i find them for 30$ theres stores called. back in the game. there related to play n trade
God damn I love your content dude. Excellent. Just excellent. Thankyou!
Metal Arms Glitch in the System, Beyond Good & Evil, Resident Evil 4, Zeldas, Sphinx. Glad you mentioned 007 EON and Haunted Mansion! Also, the first Harry Potter game (long load times but really fun), and some of the Tak games.
BATTALION WARS!!!!!!
So good, right?
MetalJesusRocks completely blown away at the time when it came out, sadly I never got to check out BATTALION WARS 2 😢
Touch of Chaos you should definitely check out BW2. It's the better BW game.
The game had a great multiplayer sadly the sequel on Wii stripped that feature :(
Robert Higgins I needs to lol
I was pretty pumped to see you finally mention Custom Robo in a Gamecube video. I had always wondered if you just didn't particularly enjoy it or had somehow not known about it. Super underrated game and still holds up today in my opinion.
Medal of Honor went downhill because the talent left and founded Infinity Ward.
Rocket Power Beach Bandits is a hidden gem!! Well.. at least it was when I was 7
3:19 "you guys know I'm a Metroid fan"
we... we don't
20:45
*I loved Pac-Man vs so much that I put in all my Photoshop skills an created a custom full boxart cover from the base Idea of this double pack box.*
It took quite some weeks to finish because I wanted it to be as authentic as possible for an European realease, so I had to create the actual barcode for this and all the legal disclaimers, some ingame screenshots on the back and the age rating...
It was soooo damn frustrating, but the result is really satisfying.
MJR if you like I can send you a version of this custom cover as well, but I only made EU-de version because I did not care for US release that much^^
Baldur´s gate with an official NFL hologram is the rare one
I hate when I go to change a case and realize I chose a case with that sticky lol
Gamecube was so underrated it was my favorite of that generation
Recently started collecting retro. Mostly GameCube an ps2. Just trying to collect stuff I grew up with no bull crap in game purchases. Really love the classics
It’s way cheaper to collect for the Ps2 right now, unless you’re rich smh...
Turok evolution for the GameCube was very good! And still has pretty good graphics. And Conker live and reloaded was good!
I have 89 GameCube games, but I know you definitely have more than me. I wish I had a gaming room like yours. You're one of the reasons I started collecting video games. Been collecting for two years already ever since I was 17.
Edit: Bruh i'm stupid, this video is 1 year old. How many GameCube games do you have now btw?
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger is one of my favourite games, should definitely give it a play, very fun
I loved that game. It’s super underrated. The exploration and unlocking, weapon variety, and humorous design make for a good time
Best intro music in UA-cam history! Thanks for the GameCube game video MJR! Unfortunately, I never owned one and only played a few games via friends! Definitely interested!
I find this to be a good channel for retro collecting. It's nice to know what games I've been missing out on for so long and if they are worth my time.
