I totally agree, the switch is my favorite system of all time. The concept is in my opinion peak! So the right thing to do was to build on it and improve
Almost my biggest desire with the Switch 2 is that its backward compatibility will be more than just the ability to play Switch 1 games. It would be nice to be able to perform better with Switch 1 games and maybe bring a higher resolution.
But will your 100 dollar pro controller be compatible with it? All the third party controllers people bought because they hate the joy cons will not work on the switch 2 because the controllers don’t slide on anymore. This is just a big money grab by Nintendo
Im desperate for the digital foundry analysis for "performance boost" with backwards compatibility. Put off doing XB3 DLC and Totk because my eyes just can't take the low frame count.
Improving resolution doesn't change the gameplay experience. Most games that have very low replayability, I don' care if you buff up the resolution, I'm not playing the game again, it's the same exact experience.
That was the most casual analysis yet the most realistic I've seen so far. A lot of Nintendo youtubers are so full of hopium you can't take it seriously
I used to watch quite a few of them, and then suddenly, I couldn't take them seriously. I'm not sure what happened they all started to change when they get desperate for free products from Nintendo or the hopium.
Say what you want about the lack of innovation, but I am super relieved that their new system doesn't have some crazy gimmick that requires you to jump up and down to control your character.
Sure, but this couldve finally been their chance to make a fully fledged next gen nintendo console, but instead its being held back by party game design and people who want to play games on the go. I want to live to see nintendo genuinely blow us away with each new 1st party. Not constantly lag behind having people compare the latest console to something as old as the ps4 pro 😢 Theyre doing the smart thing tho i get it. Playing it safe.
Excited? This is the first time I am ultra-hyped for a console since the PS3/ 360 era. The perfect concept with an upgrade? Yes, please. BRING IT ON NINTENDO!
Love the little outtake at the end! I just watched the "What You Should Never Say in a Game Store" video. Is Russell the only guest to ever have pointed at the outro?
It’s the 40th anniversary of Super Mario so I would hope a Mario game launches with it! Seems like a missed opportunity if they don’t! I know I would love it!
I would LOVE a Mario Odyssey 2. That game rules and each level is basically a small open world itself where you can collect many moons without leaving the level. I guess if all the regions were physically connected that would be cool as well. The Legend of Mario: Breath of the Bowser
@dmace81 I'd also be happy with a remaster of Punch out Wii, however, I just feel they can do so much to advance the series, it would be nice to shake things up a bit. I thought of this idea where your corner can throw power ups into the ring and you can press L or R to quickly rotate around teg ring to collect the power. Just little things like that I feel would change things
I'm super excited for the Switch 2! I really just wanted a more powerful Switch and it looks like that is what we're getting. My favorite franchise of all time is Fire Emblem, so I'm hoping for a new one as a launch title.
@@devinreed21 the switch oled starts at 350 dollars so this is obviously going to cost more. Rumors are 399-499. No Nintendo console is worth as much as a ps5. Even if it’s 399 after taxes you’re looking at 434 dollars if it’s 499 you’re looking at 543 dollars and I don’t see anyone paying that kind of money to play Mario and Zelda especially when they can play those games just fine on the switch they already have.
One thing not mentioned is the pro controller. I would really love to see a new and improved pro controller with a headphone jack on it. And this probably won't happen but adaptive triggers like on the dualsense would be amazing.
Having the Switch 2 leaked a week early did nothing to diminish my excitement for it. I’m fine with there being no big new gimmick this time. Switch 2 is all i wanted it to be. A more powerful backwards compatible switch. I dont want another wii or wii u with gimmicks that just suck. The switch is a perfectly fine form factor
The Switch 2 is exactly what I wanted it to be. I was really crossing my fingers Nintendo didn't decide to try some "wacky new feature" as a gimmick for a new system. All I wanted was "A better Switch" and it's what I got.
They need a big 3rd party game to show the power of the new console. I would love to see Marvel Rivals on switch 2 but maiby that's to much but a Path of Exile 2 will be huge next year and I think is doable. Imagine this lineup on release. Path of Exile 2, Hades 2, Baldurs Gate 3, GTA 5 ( I know that's a little ambitions but GTA 5 works and looks great on Xbox 360 it should work at least as good on a Switch 2). Also to show the new mouse future a big multiplayer shooter like a COD or a HALO. As for nostalgia I would love to see Mass Effect Trilogy. Such amazing games that a lot of Nintendo fandom didn't had the chance to try and again if those games work great on Xbox 360 they should work fine on the new switch. It would be also great if the big phone games are on it on release like Genshin, Honkai , Pokemon Pocket( Honestly I don't know why its not on the current switch since you can link your Nintendo account), LoL Wild Rift, MLBB, TFT, MOBA, Roblox. All those games work on 100$ phones so they should work on the new switch
Interesting that the Switch 2 kept things so similar. It's not the first time though, as Gameboy Advance, & Wii U also didn't tread far off the beaten path from what came before.
Finally someone else who looks at it this way. It's half handheld. When I saw the switch 2 it just reminded me of going from DS to 3DS then to new 3DS. They aren't fixing something that isn't broken :) I like your comment
The wii u was the first concept of uniting everything they had, it played ds games and wii games. It was an all in one system and after I modded mine, it's an amazing Nintendo retro machine.
Wait, what? Wario Land Shake it wasn't very good? That game is masterclass(as is WL1 on the Super Game Boy) 2D platforming at it's best when aiming for 100% completion. And the tilt based motion controls that were integrated into lets say the UFO, Boxing glove Wheelie-mobile and so on were just brilliant. An easy 10/10. Klonoa was another wonderful platformer with an incredible surreal dream-like soundtrack that a lot of people missed out on unfortunately. Wario Land Shake it!, Klonoa & Mega Man 9 were the tubular trio of grade A platforming on Wii for me. :P
This is the first time in a while where I’m not really hyped at all yet. I’ve already experienced playing some amazing experiences on my handheld PC’s. Yes, of course I’m always looking forward to what Nintendo will be coming out with(Mario, Zelda, Kart, etc.). I’m going to get it for sure. But the Switch hasn’t been my favorite console since its third year. I’m curious to see how this console is going to excite people like me who already game on Steam Deck, ROG Ally, or Legion Go. What are they going to do to entice us to purchase games on it, rather than PC
I think people need to keep their predictions in check. If you don't dream too big, you won't be disappointed. It has been rumoured to have specs akin to the Series S, which has trouble running third-party titles, but I think it will do it better than Switch, which was rough unless it was first-party. I will wait to see the specs, price & a glimpse of the titles they will release with & what will come later in the year.
My hope is that they announce Captain Toad 2, Mario Odyssey 2, Terranigma Remastered, and Megaman X9; but I'll be happy with another Captain Toad. Also, I predict Mario Maker 3D, which will utilize the mouse in a 3d building environment.
I predict a new Animal Crossing game on release. Nothing new has come out for New Horizons in a long time and it's one of the systems most popular titles.
If you’ve been on the Nintendo ranch for a long time, guessing about games has become like an old farmer betting on a frog race. “Yep, that dark green boy will cross the finish line first. Yeppppp.”
Definitely on the wait and see. I started on the NES/2600 back in the day and hadn't owned a Nintendo since the 64 up to the Switch... that was a lot of incentive for the years I missed. Now I'm going to need to see more.
I know there are so many moving pieces involved when it comes to a company revealing a new system, but imagine how baller of a move it would have been had Nintendo, hearing about the leaks, canceled their reveal altogether to discredit the leakers, only to come back a month or so later with a more in-depth showcase.
I was thinking something similar to this watching Johnny's video.. The reveal seems very underwhelming.. I feel there are more tricks up Nintendo's sleeve with this and there's something more to the system that will surprise us. I hope anyway! Tbf if it is what it appears to be.. just a standard switch but redesigned and upgraded that's totally cool too. The switch is awesome c: Let's see!
As much as I love Luigi's mansion if they showed that as the game to launch the system it would've been lukewarm. Don't forget GameCube launched with that and didn't exactly get people hyped to buy that system
Leaning towards wait n see right now pre direct. I am very interested in watching that direct. I think that will turn a lot more heads towards excitement if done correctly. Shout out to Russell for coming on and rocking the Mega Man X on the inner forearm!
I’m hoping for Zelda WW/TP HD double pack. I also hope we get to fill out the Metroid games with P2&3 HD and to round off Luigi’s Mansion with a remaster of the first one.
My prediction is that the Switch 2 will have some kind of pack-in software that utilizes the new Joy-Con Features. Also, Metroid Prime 4 will release on the original Nintendo Switch and get a separate, enhanced version on the Switch 2. At launch, Nintendo will focus on three first party games: Mario Kart X, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and my wild prediction is a brand new SimCity called... Switch City to take advantage of the mouse controls.
This would be really nice, but the fact that they didn't make 1-2 Switch a pack-in makes me think this won't happen. Also... they honestly won't need any help selling units, at least for the first year. So Idk if they would be nice enough to throw in a free game on top of everything else. I think they'll keep costs as low as possible and sell it without pack-in, unfortunately.
@oxsila that's like saying nintendo only has the only thing that matters in console gaming, which is quality software especially exclusive quality software
I’m shocked I didn’t hear a peep about star fox or a switch sports 2 type game. I think those have a huge chance of coming to switch 2, especially with the whole mouse thing that could introduce brand new ways to play (air hockey anyone?)
Amazing video! So nice to see we can still get hyped this way about a new console coming up, make predictions and all that. Nintendo just doesn't stop being exciting, no matter how old we get, so many possibilities to have fun predicting and look forward to...
My prediction to show off the mouse is a Nintendo roller coaster tycoon type of game themed around the new Nintendo theme parks. Maybe even splatfest type events for new products to be added to the parks.
Assuming I can snag a preorder, I'll have mine day one no question because I bought a DS, 3DS, New 3DS XL, Wii, WiiU and Switch Day One. However I do think Metroid Prime 4 will be a launch title but similar to how Breath of the Wild was, where it launched on two systems. The Switch 2 version will probably get better visuals and 60 FPS vs 30 on Switch 1. They will launch that because Nintendo always releases a singleplayer title at it's launch alongside Mario Kart 9. However, I think Nintendo might do something different and instead of a gimmick 1-2 switch game, they might just do a new WarioWare to showcase the new controls and since it's WarioWare, more people might buy it.
Myself I'm going to wait I want to know more about it first and let the game library build up too. I've been in the wait mode the last couple generations of consoles because for one money always goes to other things first and two the innovation leaps as mentioned in the video from one console to the next aren't as great anymore as they used to be say from an Atari or Intellivision to the original NES, Super Nintendo to the N64, PS2, OG Xbox. I remember being super excited in high school buying the PS2 (the first system I bought with my own money) being so impressed with it and thinking it would never get better. I was wrong things have gotten super impressive but, it took me a long time to move on from the PS3/Xbox 360 era to a PS4 because I was still enjoying those machines. I didn't get a PS4 until the Fall when they were bundling The Last of Us Remastered, God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn with it. It was finally time then and I have loved the system since. And with the companies still doing cross-gen games all this time for a lot of games I still get to enjoy a good majority of the games I am interested in. I only have had the desire to get a PS5 this past year so, I could play games like Silent Hill 2, Dead Space Remake, Dead Rising, Baldur's Gate 3 and Dragon's Dogma 2. I feel I am not buying the consoles anymore because of the advancements from the previous generation and being impressed with it. I am buying to play games I can't on generation I have. There's been talk of PS6 recently but, I'm not sure if I see the need. What can they do technology wise to impress us to make us want to buy these newer consoles as time goes on to see that the new one is really that much better than the last one. Showing off these consoles power is a combo of the machine and the consumers televisions and the televisions look great but, when 8K TVs come around are they really going to look so much better than 4K that I will run to the store for one? Probably not.
Here is my prediction for Switch 2 games within the first year & I'll name which I think will be a launch title - 3D Mario - Mario Kart (launch) - Metroid Prime (launch) - A title similar to 1-2-Switch, Nintendo Land, Wii Play ect to showcase all the features (launch) - Something Capcom at launch (my bet is Resident Evil 4 Remake or a new Mega Man game) - A third party game similar to Sims 4, Planet Coaster, Civilization, WoW, LoL, RuneScape ect to really utilize the mouse function (launch) - A remaster/remake of a Zelda game - A Microsoft game (my bet is Sea of Thieves at launch) - Just Dance 2026 - A third party shooter either it be a Call of Duty of some sort, Rainbow Six Siege, Valorant, Sniper Elite Resistance ect (launch) - A Way Out or Split Fiction - Something EA more then likely PGA Tour or FC (I'd rather Burnout 3: Takedown, Medal of Honor: Front Lines or Allied Assault) So 6 total launch games with 3 of the 7 being 1st party (Switch only had 10 launch titles with 3 out of the 10 being 1st party)
I will be excited in 2 or 3 years. I have never gotten a console on launch. To have 300-500 dollars of expendable money at once hasn’t been achievable yet for me. I love catching up though. From receiving an NES in Christmas of 1993 to gifting the switch in 2020. I love every console in between and it hasn’t taken away from anything. Delayed gratification.
I find it hard to accept that an incrementally improved MK9 is justifiable when a new F-Zero isn’t, after 20 years of no updates to such a beloved franchise
Aces an Startropics! A game I thought looked way dumb when it came out and then a buddy played it and got me to try it a few years later and I absolutely loved it. They really missed the boat not putting Mike Jones in Smash! The possibilities they could have had with that yo-yo! Beyond that, MP4 is what I am most excited about.
My mom got that came from the discard section of the library for me and my brother back when I was in kindergarten back in 91 or so. One of my favorite games of all time. I would love to see it and Zoda's Revenge remade in the same vein as Actraiser with 3d assets but keeping the perspective and mechanics.
Switch will be my 1st Nintendo console. I'm looking forward to checking out the back catalogue of switch 1. Seems to me Nintendo are the last genuine game company that has a personality & makes games out of passion as well as to make money. I've had every Xbox & that platform has lost it's individuality, they're only interested in numbers & it reflects in the quality of their games. now they're multiplatform I can play their games on Steam with better features such as modding. the Xbox console is now surplus to requirements, it also looks like playstation is following in their footsteps. Sadly it will be Steam & Nintendo as the 2 big platform holders.
They milk the same franchises decade after decade. Sorry but have to hit this hyper-glaze with a little bit of reality. Nintendo havent been their industry defining self since 2017. Ever since then theyve been in playing it safe mode and the switch 2 just confirms that.
When I heard about the joy-cons might be used as a mouse my mind went wild. What if they did a Mario Paint/Mario Maker 3/Video Game Maker combo game… that’d be amazing
I want to grab one day one… two things: probably impossible lol, and I’d like to wait to see if ‘fun’ colours come out. Never a fan of ‘serious grey’. ;)
I think that Mario Kart is too much of a casual and party game. It’s not THE game to make people go out and buy the Switch 2 on launch. Without a bigger first party title, I think a lot of people will have Rob’s mentality that you talk about at the end and wait to buy it. With the Switch 1, it was so new and unique that people wanted to get their hands on the hardware from the get-go. For Switch 2, Nintendo will need a game that people say “I need to get the Switch 2 to play that game.” I think Russell made a great prediction with a Kirby game. If I remember correctly, Sakurai teased that he is working on a game, not necessarily a smash bros game. I could totally see it being a new Kirby game that utilizes aspects of Switch 2.
An upgrade is all we needed for the switch 2 as the original design is so brilliant.
I totally agree, the switch is my favorite system of all time. The concept is in my opinion peak! So the right thing to do was to build on it and improve
@@leonidasvonsparta it’s also a fantastic system if you are a collector. The library is massive and covers Everything. Modern, retro and indie.

@@IndohNintendo Remaster.... not sequel. Which btw can happen considering they recently remastered/remade Actraiser and Live A Live.
Terranigma would be awesome to see.
I’m booking time off work to get my switch 2! Super hyped
Yeppppp.”
Oh man I'm with you on a new Startropics 100%! Would be astounding to see.
The 1st note of Star Tropics got me hyped up! And summoned me here. Love that game !!
Definitely on the wait and see. I started on the NES/2600 back in the day and hadn't owned a Nintendo since the 64 up to the Switch... that was a lot of incentive for the years I missed. Now I'm going to need to see more.
Remember when we couldn’t believe that, the games were running on an actual handheld when the switch came out
I know there are so many moving pieces involved when it comes to a company revealing a new system, but imagine how baller of a move it would have been had Nintendo, hearing about the leaks, canceled their reveal altogether to discredit the leakers, only to come back a month or so later with a more in-depth showcase.
The switch is awesome c:
Let's see!
Mega Man ftw!
Hall effect sticks. Magnets are used. They were in the dreamcast and the CrKD Switch peripherals. I wish I could interject in this video. 😅
yes!
Get this guy in again! Good chemistry between you guys and his laugh is amazing
I'm excited for the mouse aspect. It could be used to create levels in Mario maker, air hockey, tower defense games...
me too. it will allow nintendo or other devs to create video games that requires a mouse like FPS or tactics games like Fire Emblem.
Yes , i am excited! I hope they bring now even better ports to the switch 2 :). Would like to see more new games also on the switch 2!
I've entered the draw to see the switch in April. Fingers crossed I'll get to try it then.
I hadn't tought of add-on peripherals like a second screen! That would totally explain the dual USB-C ports!
I’m hoping for Zelda WW/TP HD double pack. I also hope we get to fill out the Metroid games with P2&3 HD and to round off Luigi’s Mansion with a remaster of the first one.
Zelda is too valuable, they'll sell one remake at a time at full price
Also OoT HD should come first, it's been longer since that remaster and needs to get a definitive edition you can play on the TV again.
How about a nice bonus RPG story added to the new version of Mario Kart?
Switch 2 is going to surprise ppl with its graphical prowess for the wattage
Not anyone who has a steamdeck. All nintendo has is the game exclusives
@@oxsilaI have and really like my SteamDeck. According to leaks Switch 2 will be more powerful in docked mode. DLSS might help it out too.
The Metroid stuff is just so stunning to me. I need to get into Metroid...
Castlevania - Aura of Holy Might (2-3-2025, 3 Previews Out Now)
Assuming I can snag a preorder, I'll have mine day one no question because I bought a DS, 3DS, New 3DS XL, Wii, WiiU and Switch Day One.
If it's an OLED model at launch I will buy. If not, I'll wait. I play a lot in handheld and don't want to go back.
So cool to see Russell on the show. He was super nice when I visited you guys. I hope to see some AMAZING RPGs on the Switch 2 ⚔️🤍
i am super excited about that switch 2... can't wait
They still have so much potential left with the Odyssey mechanics. I 100% see and want Odyssey 2
I also want to see a Odyssey 2.
3 4 Switch is too funny 😂
I would be stoked for a new Mario Fly Swatter Game!
Here is my prediction for Switch 2 games within the first year & I'll name which I think will be a launch title
- 3D Mario
- Mario Kart (launch)
- Metroid Prime (launch)
- A title similar to 1-2-Switch, Nintendo Land, Wii Play ect to showcase all the features (launch)
- Something Capcom at launch (my bet is Resident Evil 4 Remake or a new Mega Man game)
- A third party game similar to Sims 4, Planet Coaster, Civilization, WoW, LoL, RuneScape ect to really utilize the mouse function (launch)
- A remaster/remake of a Zelda game
- A Microsoft game (my bet is Sea of Thieves at launch)
- Just Dance 2026
- A third party shooter either it be a Call of Duty of some sort, Rainbow Six Siege, Valorant, Sniper Elite Resistance ect (launch)
- A Way Out or Split Fiction
- Something EA more then likely PGA Tour or FC (I'd rather Burnout 3: Takedown, Medal of Honor: Front Lines or Allied Assault)
So 6 total launch games with 3 of the 7 being 1st party (Switch only had 10 launch titles with 3 out of the 10 being 1st party)
A beefed up weather system and crazy players with Wave Race would rock on a powerful system. Blue Storm is one of the most vibey racing games EVER
The new game to show off the mouse should be a new Mario Paint!
Would be cool if it would be an included mode in the Switch 2 menu that you can always use.
or mario maker. Fire Emblem can be used to show off the mouse too.
A new Mario Kart is my number 1 wish for the console..... So I am happy.
Good video, nice seeing Russell again.
I find it hard to accept that an incrementally improved MK9 is justifiable when a new F-Zero isn’t, after 20 years of no updates to such a beloved franchise
Launch day games: Mario Kart and Donkey kong would be awesome
i REALLY want a remake of Donkey Kong games on SNES
For Switch 2, Nintendo will need a game that people say “I need to get the Switch 2 to play that game.”
I think Russell made a great prediction with a Kirby game. If I remember correctly, Sakurai teased that he is working on a game, not necessarily a smash bros game. I could totally see it being a new Kirby game that utilizes aspects of Switch 2.
