These Metro games are triple B at best! Extremely limited graphics adjustments for the PC version is the first sign. I get 3 times more graphics settings for Far Cry 5 or Assassins Creed Odyssey. Also only uses 4GB of VRAM while I got 24 available on my Titan RTX.

1080p 60fps would of been a nice option for the xbox one x
it's too weak for that. cpu is garbage and cpu is the limiting factor when aiming for high fps, in a demanding game. this is why they target high res at crappy 30 fps instead. gpu bound instead of cpu bound.

The whole "Xbox has crushed black levels" was a thing since the Xbox One first released, go back and check comparison videos you guys uploaded way back in 2013. It seems to have gone away for a few years, but I guess it's now back? Strange. This is almost guaranteed to be a conscious choice, possibly not by the devs themselves because it's present in so many other games - I guess someone on the Xbox team likes the look of the higher contrast image.

Yeah it's broken, I've also had 2 hard crashes on my X in only 1 hour.
I dare to say that it was sometimes a problem on Xbox 360, too. Ghostbusters was more like DARKbusters.

I'm an Xbox One S user, i feel happy when i see games that actually run better or at least comparable to other consoles, it usually feels like we get the short end of the stick on most other games. in the end it's all about optimization, btw great video as always!

The SleepingMoose it’s not much more than powerful than the Xbox one, because it is slightly overclocked. This may provide slightly better frame rates, but this power difference is not enough to exceed the base Xbox one in terms of resolution, textures or lighting

The X has 2.2 times higher resolution than the Pro, better performance and Dolby Atmos support. Another easy victory for X, as far as consoles go.

Zain844 The X is not $100 more nowdays as it comes bundled with a game or two, it also has an Ultra HD Blu-Ray player.

Anyway, the ps3 was a came out a year later than the xbox 360 and was $250 more expensive, and the 360 still ran games at a higher resolution and frame rate.
@Zain844 the specs were locked for x the at e3 2016, when they showed the hart of the x and the chipset never changed and that was a good bit before the pro came out, so the cost and when it came out has nothing to do with it, Sony went cheap with the pro and are rumoured to make a profit off it, where ms are taking a hit with the x
This is proof of a developer wants to take the time and build a beautiful game it can be done across the board on consoles! No matter what u play on the main thing is to play this game! I’m playing on XboxOne X on a 50in 4K HDR10 LED tv & at least for me it’s amazing!
Buying a One X a couple of months ago really opened my eyes to how disappointing the pro is by comparison, bought the pro for Spiderman and sure it looked great but playing Red Dead 2 on both machines and the one X by far outshines the pro, and honestly this game looks and sounds like another case. Day one purchase on the X for this game, Sony really need to step their hardware up for next gen because slapping “4K” on their box is blatantly misleading considering most games run at 1440p or a checkerboard rendering 4K and honestly the games are kind of a blurry mess. Good show Microsoft and credit where it is due! Can’t wait to check this out.

You spend more money, you get a better result. No surprise there. It's not like they present themselves as equal options. It's only recently that you see games clearly outshine the pro on the X, though. And its flagship games do nothing to help show off or entice people to buy the system.

I remember when the original Metro2033 came out in 2010, it was the first real DX11 game and crushed all PC's at the time, including the HD 5970 and GTX 480's. This was the game that got me into PC gaming.

This is Atmos for headphones. Basically just another virtual surround sound algorithm for when using headphones. It's on the PC version as well. I leave it on since I use headphones. Sounds fine, but I'm not blown away by it. @PRIMEgaming

yeah it looks great but the controls are broken. Theres a very real issue with the deadzone settings when you aim the gun. Kills the fun of actually playing it.
Also, the gamma is messed up. Blacks are crushed. Im on an oled so the blacks may not look as crushed on an led.
Finally, serious issue with hard crashing. In the furst big scene on the train, i literally can't proceed it keeps freezing and crashing.
Im very disappointed with the current state of the game. If they patch it and fix some of these things I could see it being a great game though as the visuals are amazing and it's very immersive. The story isn't as well written as past games either. They do too much "tell dont show" and the beginning of the game just has odd pacing.

The X is proving to be a very capable 4k machine. I use my X with a 1440p hdr 144hz freesync 2 monitor. Figured with the X supporting native 1440p output that it would be a perfect fit for playing everything including backward compatible games which don't look all that great stretched to a 4k display but look more than adequate on a 1440p display.
Looks awesome on One X, will be playing on PC though for that 60fps🙉
Edit: Runs smooth at 1440p/60fps on my gtx 1080ti, ultra settings with everything else turned on. Loving it so far, looks amazing 👍🏼

@Blaydon Actually this game is really heavy on the GPU give hardware unboxed a look they do a complete breakdown analysis and you'll be surprised how powerful your PC GPU has to be even without Ray Tracing switched on.
An RTX 2060 was struggling with 1% lows in the 25-35 GPS range 1080p ultra no ray tracing.
im at 100 fps avg using ultra preset with a 1080 ti at 1440p ...
Hats off to 4A games for getting this to look so good on console. Yes its capped at 30fps, i mean its not their fault they're working with old CPU Tech, but even so its quite remarkable. Shame they didnt try to push for a 1080p60fps target with dynamic res on X though

UA-cam compression is crazy on this video
Yeah it sucks how heavily compressed UA-cam is. Kills quality, esp in videos of games with lots of foliage or in this example the snow blowing across the screen. Makes the compression and low bit rate really show. That's why I get why they started their patreon source quality video thing (you get ~50 Mbps encoded videos) but I just cant justify it when I only watch a few of their videos a month.
Completley makes these comparison videos useless. Also everyone has different TVs that makes the world of difference. Bargain bin 4K won;t look better then my High End 1080P TV. Trust me Ive tested it.

Van Dammage I own both an x and a pro, and get that the x is more powerful, as would be expected due to it being more expensive and released much later, but I will still buy this on my PS4, the x is let down by its clunky and slow UI, it’s an awful console to use in comparison to the playstation. Was the opposite last gen, loved the 360, hated the PS3! My Xbox now collects dust, along with the few exclusives I buy for it.

@@arbiter- It even says "4K" before the video title. DF uploads their source files to their site and that's what they are also uploading to UA-cam (that file is 2160p). Maybe it's UA-cam bugging out again, but this was most definitely intended as a 4K upload.
Its dissapointing youd didnt made a technical analysis on Xbox One X. Metro Exodus has dynamic weather system, dynamic day and night circle. It has awesome grapics. 1 of the best today, if not the best. You should make a technical analysis just like by RDR 2, RE 2 remaster, Hitman 2 etc.
The PS4 Pro has all of that as well. The game looks spectacular on both consoles.
X1X doesn’t even use tesselation...that’s last gen tech.

All I have to say is, for those people that play on basic PS4 and Xbox, you have to consider upgrading to X and Pro. These new games are super demanding and those consoles are 6 years old hardware.

Well PC gamers are like weapon smith. They craft their own, customize it to their preference, and even be snobby about their work. While console gamers just picks up a rock and says "this will do."
If you only could get the 60 FPS experience (no tearing, no input lag, smooth as hell) of consoles on PC. Much less heat for the hardware and tearing negates the advantage of 100 fps over locked 60 fps.

@Brent PNo, it's not. A console is a budget machine with fix Hardware and limited OS and closed ecosystem. Designed to run games in a high visual quality compared to the pricepoint of the device.
PC is a open platform with a huge number of hardware combinations and free choice of the operating System. PCs for the pricepoint of consoles can't run actual AAA games at all (base PS4 & base XBO) or only in lower resolutions, but very likely at higher framerate (PS4 Pro or XBox One X). PCs are universal devices and you can choose to invest much more money into your rig for getting a visual & performance level no actual console will ever be able to reach.
On consoles the platform holders are responsible. They guarantee you compatibility of hard- and software and a specific level of your experience. On PC you are fully responsible for your built. If you have issues running a game it's your problem to solve them.
Amd64 aka x86_64 is a specific CPU Architecture used in PCs and also in consoles, but it doesn't make a console a PC. If your TV offers USB Standard ports like PCs... does it make it a PC ?

@@WillOnCode Perhaps, but at massively crippled image quality settings. You'd have to live with that. Wouldn't be a straight across 1080p 60fps mode either. Like GPU, this game pounds a CPU pretty good too, and the X and Pro still use 2012 laptop-grade AMD Jaguar CPUs -- a really jacked-up Jaguar in the case of the X, but not a miraculous change from the basic part.
I reckon you could do 1080p/unlocked frame rate and see big fluctuations from 40-60 on the X, using base Xbox One image quality presets.

Don’t understand why people put up these types of videos it doesn’t show what the pro can really do 4K with HDR which looks way better than standard ps4. I have the pro with a top of the range 4K hdr tv and believe me it looks so much more better than what is showing in these types of videos.
They really tried making this game look good on all platforms. I got to hand it to them, for once I don't think anyone's gonna miss much no matter what platform they play. Course I'll be getting this game on the X.

The performance is now rock solid on ps4 pro.. After all the updates, 20gb update the ps4 pro is now very stable theres no need for dynamic resolution .. The only problem is the audio..
I would like to point out that low res buffers, especially for post processes and full screen quad effects like volumetric fog, are used in every single modern game and engine I have ever seen; there is simply no way to have usable performance otherwise.
Bloom and effects requiring a uniformly blurred version of the image (like doom 2016’s frosted glass) are done on a pyramid of progressively smaller buffers before being blended together because the cost of a Gaussian blur increases exponentially the larger you make it.
SSAO, and most GI approximations are done on half or quarter resolution buffers because they are so low frequency that it you cannot tell the difference and it can decrease the cost of the effect significantly.
Ray marched effects like the volumetric fog in most modern engines are done by ray marching through very low resolution 3D textures aligned to the camera that is temporarily jittered to hide all the aliasing and low sample count.
TLDR: Why is the use of low resolution buffers being brought up? Every game in the last 15 years uses them.

60fps doesnt mean next gen dude if PS4 and XB1 were high end PCs and could run cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p constant 30fps, its a true next gen console for its time

i love how people mention games like these that are "stressful" on the system when in fact it's just unoptimized piece of garbage. Take a look at the latest Battlefield games. Those look way better than this and run great on low end hardware.

I find it strange, that you don't mention loading times. Especially when loading in to the game from the main menu can take up to 4 minutes on a PS4 Pro (internal drive) and nearly 2 minutes if you restart checkpoint or die.. that is some insane loading times! I know the game is big and state of the art, but still.

Honestly, sometimes I wonder why resolution is the primary goal of developers at the expense of framerate. Give me a locked framerate at a dynamic or locked lower resolution. 1080p locked at a higher framerate on X and Pro would have been nice. At least the option!
Also, rendering the fog and smoke effects the same way on base PS4 as Xbox One S would have been smarter since PS4 is running at a higher resolution already. It would have remained steady in those scenes and ended up being the most stable version. Maybe that will be fixed in a patch.

I Playing on XONE X. The game freezes everytime when i want to play it. Everytime in the loading screen, It takes me back to the dashboard. WTF !!!
