You could use the float switch in your return section as run dry protection.

You can also remove the c clip on the float valve and switch the float 180° and it will trigger in the opposite direction. It can then be used as a safety for the return chamber if your sump runs low or in any case where you are worried about a low water level.

Use the float on top of your tank so that if you accidently bump up the float rate to 5 you won't overflow your tank

Hmmmm That might be a Tad too big for my Return Compartment. Do i have to use the orange Base? might have to look into a smaller pump.

I don't recall if that is removable..but keep in mind if it were, it could send vibrations into the refugium as well.

Any questions 20 gallon reef tank new tank. Can I have a strong return pump with 10 gallon sump

You would need to check what your tank is capable of draining. So say if it can only handle say 700gph, there is no point in getting a pump that does 3000gph unless you're planning on running a T or manifold back into the sump to power more equipment.

Sea swirl’s are a fantastic idea but so ugly on top of the aquarium. With all the new tech with wave-makers why even use it?

They definitely are a bit larger than I normally would be inclined to use, but with utilizing the herbie overflow, it actually is working out perfectly and just adds that much more to my overall flow.
