@@TheTechGuys How can I add a wireless printer to my network? The instructions say for me to press a button on the modem to allow access but I don't see such a button on either device provided by fiber company.
I have an xfi modem Wifi͎ from Xfinity it won’t keep me on XM Wifi͎ so my calls are dropping and pages are loading slower. Just got this eero 6 hoping it will fix that issue. Will I be connecting it to Xfinity modem and will they be different networks?
If it were me, assuming the xfi device is a modem/router combo, I’d disable the router features and just let the Eufy device handle all routing/WiFi stuff if Xfininty will allow you to do that with the calling feature stuff. I would think they would but you really never know with them.
Question: I have a router from my internet company, what is the purpose of plugging this into my router if the router is already providing sufficient range? Hope this makes sense!
Ryan, thanks for the video. If you have one on using a second router as the extender, that would be nice. My ISP provides the eero 6 as the router with the cable company's modem. I have to say it works pretty well once the initial setup finally worked. Since the eero6 and the modem are the ISP's property, I wouldn't want to invest in an extender, obviously. However, a second "router" that I can connect via wired ethernet to the existing one, that would be great as the cabling is already in place. Plus, if I change providers, my investment is secure. Thanks!
This comes as a system. So you could get the two pack, replace your router with the base unit and put an extender on your desk (assuming your desk is between your router and yours PS5), and you’d likely get better WiFi signal, but you couldn’t just by an extender and have it work with a non-Eero system. They do make wireless network extenders that work with any system, but that’s just not what this particular thing does.
It looks like the smart device is connected to a cellular signal. Is a cellular signal required for setup? I don't have cellular service at the setup location.
Hey Ryan I liked the video, with that said not so sure on the Eero’s. I am with Century link and had dead spots where the iPad was pixelating so I thought a mesh setup would be the fix. My speed with Centurylink is 80 My 2 phone are Apple 11’s and the iPad is a couple of years old and tvs are 2 years old so nothing in my house would benefit from Wi-Fi 6. So I bought the 3 pack, 1 with the 2 Ethernet ports and the other 2 with just the plug in. I just set it up, it downloaded updates I walk around the house and the speeds are 21 to 26? With my modem/router setup before I was 46 down to 18. Why is the Eero so slow? 10 feet away from my main (Eero) 26? Thanks for any suggestions the app says it is broadcasting in 5G
Oh it doesn't use the default subnet? i might have to reconfigure my raspberry pi / pihole dns then or maybe I wouldn't need it since it has a built in ad blocker too?
Do you know if you can use any usb-c for a power cord? I want to buy an extender for my family in Turkey and they use different plug outlets. I could buy one while over there, but electronics are way cheaper here in the US.
i live in a 3 story townhome, and my router is on the middle floor, my office is on the bottom floor. My friends suggested to snake a ethernet cable downstairs, but it would literally traverse the whole house... would this be a better alternative? i dont really wanna snake around ethernet cords too much but my wifi connection in the bottom floor sucks. do the extenders need anything more than power? or do they also need some sort of ethernet cable? thanks.
For this system (Eero 6) it’s designed to work without Ethernet cables for the extenders. It works as kind of a relay, so the extender unit needs to have a good connection to the base unit, but then it rebroadcasts this signal. I would think it’d be a good fit for what you’re looking for. I had a friend buy the 3 pack and he was in your exact situation. He said it made the signal on his top floor and basement (where he placed the extenders) significantly better. The Ethernet cable would for sure be the best connection strength, but having to snake it around everywhere would for sure suck.
Sorry if you've answered this below didn't want to read all 144 comments. Do you have to disable the wifi on your existing modem router from your provider?
Found your video researching mesh networks - 5 months later how would you assess the system? I have a 2 storey home with the modem on the bottom floor - no other alternative. Looking for full coverage in a 5,000 square home.
It works well for me. My brother also got the three pack for his three story home and it is working well for him too. I find the biggest issue they have is when trying to broadcast vertically so, depending on placement you might be able to get by with a two pack. But it all depends on placement and your house layout.
I just upgraded my Fios to 1gb/s but for some reason I’m only getting 400-500mbps on WiFi. I have an old eero router, can I just buy the eero WiFi 6 to increase my internet WiFi speed?
The Eero 6 supports the WiFi 6 standard (802.11 ax) which over doubles the theoretical speed of WiFi 5 (802.11 ac). However in the practical application of the spec, I don’t think people are really going to get those speeds to their devices. If you’re wanting to get a new Eero, and you need the full bandwidth to your device, I’d probably look at the Eero 6 Pro as it has more available bands, so you’d be more likely to hit your max speed on any given device.
@@TheTechGuys Thank you for your reply. So basically youre saying to upgrade my wifi router and I should get closer to 1gb/sec as what I'm paying for right?
Hi. I have an older Eero (router + one extender) that I had purchased for an old office about 4 years ago. We've just moved into a new home and the room up front is having a hard time getting the wifi signal. I'm wondering if I can still use this one (model #: B010001) or if it is too old/out of date. I'm wondering if their app will still recognize it and if they will have updates that will work. Do you have any idea? thanks, Greg
Location (optimal) for the router? Setting up for mom and dad and she has a tall piece of furniture and can place on top running the Ethernet to it. Is there too high?
Thanks for the video. I have a security camera system (Q-see) that uses port forwarding along with DDNS (I am using No-IP), can this be set up on the Eero 6 Mesh and how easy is it to do. I am not very technical. Thanks a'gain.
I’ve never used Q-see, but the Eero system allows for port forwarding. However DDNS is a secure+ feature which I haven’t paid for and don’t plan to, so I’m unable to test how well it works.
You need at least one in a set position as kind of a “base station”, and that one needs to be connected to your modem. Then I think you could probably get a second one that you could move around if you needed/wanted to.
What do you do when the lights on all three blink blue. The manual says they the devices have been reset and ready to set up. However the eero app is offline and no idea how to get it back online
Blinking blue usually means it’s broadcasting Bluetooth trying to connect To your phone. You can check out the colors and their meaning here: support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/207908663-What-do-the-colors-of-the-LED-light-on-my-eero-mean-
I currently have a Arris combination modem/router with 4 Ethernet ports with a built in WiFi. Do I have to completely deconfigure my current Arris router and disable the wireless part of it before Setting up and using this eero? Or do I just plug into my Arris modem/router keeping my current network name. I want to still use the other three ethernet ports on my errors for wired connections in that room
The base unit needs to be plugged into your modem. The extenders can’t be plugged in to anything, and just repeat the signal of the base unit (basically). So you could put the base unit by your modem, and an extender in your room or office if you’re not getting good signal there.
My current internet device is a Verizon FIOS G1100 combined modem/router. Do I need to put the FIOS device in Bridge Mode before setting up/ connecting my euro mesh system?
I don’t know anything about that specific modem/router. The Eufy wants to act as the primary router in the system though, so I’d recommend disabling any router options if you have any on your modem for the easiest set up.
I’m not sure about a surfboard specifically, but if it has an Ethernet out, and you can disable most of the routing features of the surfboard so the Eero can control it, I’d imagine it’d work.
Just go to set up new extender in the app?? Maybe show where we would find this. I can search for hours on my own without watching a video that does not walk me through the steps
I have an Amazon fire tv stick 4K Max with wifi 6 support…..My tv is in my bedroom only 20feet away from the router. My phone seems to have no issue with the wifi but the fire stick constantly says it can’t connect or keeps disconnecting for the wifi every 5 minutes. Do you think me getting one of these wifi 6 routers would solve my issue? Or do you think that’s the fire stick itself? Literally just bought the fire stick 2 days ago and I am not a tech guy.
My guess would be that it’s either the fire stick itself, or the fire stick is trapped between a metal mount, and your metal TV and is struggling to get signal. You could test that by getting an HDMI extension cable, and hang your fire stick below or above your TV to see if it then works. Otherwise though it sounds like your fire stick is likely the problem.
How fast are these devices? Typically your internet will be slower than you wifi connection, but if you're using something like a plex server in your house you'd still be using wifi to deliver content to devices in your home. Nice video. The device looks very convenient to install and get running. I'm still pretty sure I'm not going to get something like this though.
WiFi 6's theoretical limit is 9.6 Gbps. In practice, it's probably closer to 1.2 Gbps (1200 mbps). That's true, speed is going to be limited by your ISP for external traffic, and with these it's even limited by the gigabit wired connections I have in my house which is crazy to think about. But yeah, they are great for in home streaming like with Plex, or even (and what I use it for more) game streaming with steam to my laptop/iPad, or to my quest 2. Thanks man! Yeah, the subscription thing is a pretty major reason to stay away in my opinion. They seem similar to Google's mesh system, but Google hasn't released a version with WiFi 6 yet though.
I have spectrum internet and my concern is if I switch out the spectrum router for this device the speed will be the same. Has anyone tried this device using spectrum basic. Plan 200/200 speed?
I had similar issues when setting one up for a family member recently. The issue was that the modem wasn’t connecting to the internet. I had to wait for the modem to be completely powered up and connected to the internet before then proceeding with the setup of the Eero.
This system only requires you to connect your router to your modem, and then everything else in your house can just operate off of WiFi, including the Eero range extenders. The only ethernet cable you should need to do for this system is the one that connects your modem and the base router.
I was actually wonder if it is worth getting a wifi 6 (AX) version of the eero or for 10 bucks less and get a wifi 5 (AC) version? Does the improvement to the hardware make i t that much different?
From just a 5 vs 6 standpoint, I prefer the Wi-Fi 6 version, since it's going to feel faster and more stable for longer. Of course eventually Wi-Fi 7 will come out and make it feel slow, but at that point Wi-Fi 5 will feel even slower. I also think there are additional features that if implemented correctly could make for a much better Wi-Fi system overall.
My cable provider left me with one of these but you can't jack into it with multiple ethernet connections. 🤷♀️ It doesn't matter I'm only going with the 300 anyways but still I mean it's just weird.
No, if they are named different names they should act as separate networks. I’d recommend just disabling the wireless on the original router if you have to keep it in your network (like it’s built into your modem), or removing the original router if possible.
If the router that is from your provider also has a modem built in (meaning it has a cable or DSL connection to it) then you will need to keep that functionality or get a separate dedicated modem.
They’ve got a base unit that works as a router and another unit that works as an extender. Their extender will only work with their base unit as far as I know.
Thanks! You can have a primary network and 1 guest network so far as I can tell based on what’s in the app. Do you need your primary network and two guest networks?
I thought you were gonna go through the setup like the title says. We know its supposed to be easy but i keep getting a "we found an issue" make sure eero is plugged in properly. Very disappointed because of course im plugged in properly, eero and router/modem are plugged into working outlet and ethernet cable is plugged into ethernet port. Why is there an issue?? If the app did a good job it would telle what is wrong, but it doesn't. I guess ill be returning this trash to the store
I didn’t experience any issues like that in my setup process or I would have went over them. For me it was very straightforward. If it isn’t for you, the. You certainly should return it.
I found your video when looking to set up a eero at my home. I was curious if the one I have would still be sufficient if I were to put it behind a wall? My wife can't stand the site of it and quite frankly it doesn't look good. I have the Linksys with like 6 antennas on it. We use wifi for smart TVs and devices a few cameras. What we have now seems to be working fine. I'm very tech savvy at all. Thank you in advance.
It depends on the type of walls you have. WiFi is generally pretty good at penetrating framed and sheet-rocked walls. But it’s less good if you have plaster or concrete walls. I put my primary router in my utility room and have had 0 issues with it being there.
I guess you could set up your network with the same name and password, and most devices should just automatically reconnect if that’s what you’re meaning.
I’ve never tried it with a hotspot, but the hotspot would have to be working as modem with a wired Ethernet out port for it to hook up to this at all, I think.
There are a lot of factors that can cause WiFi to drop. The first things I check are if my ISP is reporting an outage and if I’m in a dead zone in my house.
@@TheTechGuys I know that, but aren’t you supposed to kill the WiFi on the main modem so the eero acts as the WiFi while turning bridge mode on for ip assignment.
My modem is just a modem, it doesn’t have any router functionality. So if yours does then yes, you should just completely disable all router functionality on your other device or you’ll likely have conflicts.Eero doesn’t really play well with others from what I’ve found.
I could have been more clear in the video, but the only plug to plug in on this model is the one that provides power. So when I say “plug in the extender” it’s literally just into the wall outlet. In the video you can see the single white power wire.
I get your point and for the most part agree with you (even as someone that is semi-young, lazy and prefers simplicity). An app and an account for everything is annoying. In the case of router setup though I think the app is a bit easier then the old open a web browser and type in your routers IP address way of doing it.

Are the extender(s) under the same network name as the main router??
Yes, they all operate together on the same network name and password.
@@TheTechGuys awesome thanks
Very helpful
I can’t seem to set mine up. It constantly says “Eero 6 can’t connect to internet.” Any tips?
I had similar issues when setting one up for a family member recently. The issue was that the modem wasn’t connecting to the internet. I had to wait for the modem to be completely powered up and connected to the internet before then proceeding with the setup of the Eero.
It is presumed everyone’s house has built in Ethernet ports it appears? Houses in my large metro area have only normal electrical outlets. Help?!
How can u hook up the extra
eero to just to one tv
Will the original router WiFi interfere with the Eero signal?
No, if they are named different names they should act as separate networks. I’d recommend just disabling the wireless on the original router if you have to keep it in your network (like it’s built into your modem), or removing the original router if possible.
Is this apple HomeKit compatible?
There is an option to set it up with HomeKit, but I’ve never tried it so I’m not sure how well it works.
So does this replace the router entirely that I got from my provider?
If the router that is from your provider also has a modem built in (meaning it has a cable or DSL connection to it) then you will need to keep that functionality or get a separate dedicated modem.
What if I don’t have an Ethernet connection in my house?
Could I use the eero WiFi mesh system as an extender or a router or both?
They’ve got a base unit that works as a router and another unit that works as an extender. Their extender will only work with their base unit as far as I know.
After I typed in the password and name it just said registrating forever :/ and now my internet isn’t working. Says full bars but isn’t working.
I’d probably reset it and try to start over.
Where do you find the password for the internet to connect it to my phone
Is there a way to make a secondary guest network? Great video!
Thanks! You can have a primary network and 1 guest network so far as I can tell based on what’s in the app. Do you need your primary network and two guest networks?
@@TheTechGuys nope! Just one guest network! I just ordered! Thanks for the video!
Awesome! That’s kind of what I thought but I wasn’t 100% sure so I figured I’d ask. Glad it helped! I hope you love it!
Wont work for me says it cant connect no matter what i do
I thought you were gonna go through the setup like the title says.
Great video thank you. Would these devices help me to link to internet in my craft shed
I’m looking for a modem for this setup any suggestions? Does it matter what modem you have also what modem do you use
Any modem that's compatible with your ISP should be fine, as long as it has an ethernet out port. I have a netgear CM700.
@@TheTechGuys appreciate it man
No problem. If ya get this system I hope you enjoy it!
Please can I use the wifi for my area am living
i cant make the log in it says that i have ben locked due too many atempts. pls someon help
If you don’t know the login to the app you’ll probably have to request a password reset if they do that on these, or just reset the router.
WiFi signal has gone lower around we’re modem is located? Help.
Your WiFi signal dips when your by your modem?? Is your Eero connected to the modem? (IE right by where your standing when the signal dips)
@@TheTechGuys Framing and drywall for the most part.
Thank you
Should work great then. No problem.
Do u need to use ethernet
Can you use your existing wifi also?
Yeah, you could run two WiFi networks at the same time if you wanted to. It might be a bit weird though.
No I want to use my regular wifi but with this device
I guess you could set up your network with the same name and password, and most devices should just automatically reconnect if that’s what you’re meaning.
Will it work with a hotspot?
I’ve never tried it with a hotspot, but the hotspot would have to be working as modem with a wired Ethernet out port for it to hook up to this at all, I think.
Why my WiFi keep dropping every night? I got the Eero 6.
There are a lot of factors that can cause WiFi to drop. The first things I check are if my ISP is reporting an outage and if I’m in a dead zone in my house.
Are you using the same network name and password? Are Eero’s in bridge mode?
The second eero is an extender, the first is a primary router (handles DNS, DHCP, is the default gateway, etc).
Why does no one mention that the light onto of the eero doesn’t stay blue. It turns white.
That’s true, it does turn white when it’s operating normally. It also turns red when it’s having an issue or I think updating as well.
Every video I watch make it look so easy I just got 1 and is giving me a headache trying to get it working
Sorry to hear that. Anything specific tripping you up?
@@TheTechGuys the app finds it but it won't connect to the internet
Is it plugged into your modem from your ISP?
where do I find the network security key?
Like the password? After you’ve set it up
You can hit add device in the top right corner of the app and itll show you what you set it as.
Ok thank you
This little thing is impressive I get a stable 200 mbps and max of 400
That’s awesome! I’ve been very impressed with the range personally.
The content filters tells me all your browsing history is fed via Amazon this is a big turn off for me and a security issue.
I just wanted someone to say...plug this into that
Bru, show the extender plug ins.
I could have been more clear in the video, but the only plug to plug in on this model is the one that provides power. So when I say “plug in the extender” it’s literally just into the wall outlet. In the video you can see the single white power wire.
@@TheTechGuys Thanks Bru :-D
If only it was that easy. You don’t show where on the modem to plug in? I tried 3 different ports non work weak video less talking more showing bud
Why does everything need a smart phone and an app??? I'm old, lazy, and need simplicity.
I get your point and for the most part agree with you (even as someone that is semi-young, lazy and prefers simplicity). An app and an account for everything is annoying. In the case of router setup though I think the app is a bit easier then the old open a web browser and type in your routers IP address way of doing it.
@@TheTechGuys My fear of using apps stem from a false charge to my credit card for apps on an apple product. I do not own an apple product, and it was annoying to have to close out my credit card. Then I had to contact everyone I do business with to change everything to my new card. I am very tech challenged and don't understand how to get apps or to know if they cost money. It doesn't make sense to buy a smart phone and pay for months and months just to have one to install better internet.
Well that makes sense! I hate that people will do that, use others cards to make fraudulent purchases. It makes sense that you wouldn’t want to get app-dependent network equipment.
Question for ya if you have a second, what kind of tech-based videos do you like to see on UA-cam? I think there are a lot of people out there with similar feelings as you, and I’d love to make a series of helpful videos that are specifically helpful to you and others like you.
@@TheTechGuys I am very tech challenged. I need computer (specifically Chromebook) guidance for dummies. A lot of videos assume everyone has basic computer skills. I need to learn how to upload an article where it can be retrieved and shared on Zoom. I need teachers to slow down a little when teaching. I just learned how to highlight - copy - and paste.
Cool, that makes sense. I think I should be able to come up with some videos about that kind of stuff. Thanks!!
Can I log into the router from google?
What do you mean “from google”? From Google campus? From your gmail account? From the Google homepage? From your Google assistant? From chrome? From a Google pixel phone? From an android OS?
Less talking and more showing would be much appreciated. I didn’t get what I came here to find which is how to set it up to the modem. I was hoping you would actually show it!
