I have a question. I just had 2.5gb fiber internet hooked up and it came with 2 eero pro 6e’s. How do I hard wire from the modem or gateway eero to a back bedroom for gaming if the 2.5gb plug is used on the gateway eero?
Putting a switch between the modem and gateway eero would be so easy.
If only eero had two 2.5gb ethernet ports
@@brokenwrench404 In the video he said if your internet is in gigabytes you can use either ethernet port using Cat 7 cable.
But with anything it is only as fast as its slowest node so that means you'd be stuck like i am
And this guy is the reason why UA-cam was invented. Thanks m’dude. I have one pro6E and four pro6 units. 3 unmanaged switches. It’s glorious.
I appreciate it! Thanks!
Perhaps you can help me out
I just upgraded my fiber from 500, 500 to 10001,000
And they sent me two eero 6 pro e’s
Well, I had no problem setting them up but when I checked my Internet speed, it wasn’t much faster than I was at 500, 500. I’m hitting speed right around 500.
Before I upgraded, I was able to hit 400 wirelessly
I am paying much more for not much faster
When I plug directly into
My main router I’m still not hitting anywhere close to a gigabyte
As a matter fact, it’s about the same as the wireless signal
Now I didn’t adjust my packet or anything but I did check and make sure that my laptop has Wi-Fi and it does and it’s showing connected to Wi-Fi six
Why am I not going anything near one gig?
And how come I can’t separate the channels and see if I’m connecting to 2.4 or five or six?
I guess it just automatically connects to one?
In my properties, it says Wi-Fi six under my network adapter
Although it does show a 5G network under protocols
Should be confusing for someone who is computer literate
Any ideas on why I’m not hitting close to my rated speed
Truly enjoyed your presentation and made the material understandable for an old guy like me that isn’t very tech savvy and not used to all the terms so the visual aides were helpful. I’ll admit that I will have to view it a couple times to make sure I understand the wireless application before I set it up.
I am installing the eero in my 2000 sq Ft warehouse and sharing my neighbor’s wifi system which is on the other side of our dividing wall so hopefully it all works out because according to the geek guy that set up my TV he said the signal was weak so I don’t want to have connection issues with my laptop or stereo system.
Thank you again and I will follow you for future presentations.
Glad to hear this was helpful!
Excellent, just excellent information. From knowing very little about Eero meshing, this video helped me come up to speed on all the connection, wired and wireless possibilities for extending my wireless capability in my home/property. Now let's hope the Eero Pro 6E I have does the job as I set it up for extending...
Thank you for this! I was racking my brain trying to troubleshoot the failure between the Eero and the NETGEAR Switch; and here you are with the solution! 😃👍
Glad I could help!
Wow I’ve been searching for this exact video content on how to hook up the modem, router, switch with wired backhaul. Excellent video and use of the hardware and cables, thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
Well done! A simple explanation of a wired/wireless backhaul system, really useful!
Thank you
THANK YOU ! ! ! --You have provided a HUGE public service. Be proud, man. I have been a tech. geek for decades, peripherally kind of know what a switcher was and did, but never had to use one. With the Eero, I now needed to use one as the Eero did not have in a built-in switcher like my failing Asus. Thanks to your explanations here, I was not wondering if what I was doing was correct. I feel relieved.
Glad I could help!
Super helpful and I couldn’t agree more with all your comments…spot on!
Thanks!
Thank You, You are the man !!!the internet service provider was unable to help! You Rock !
Thanks! Glad this info was useful!
I wish I knew stuff. Thank goodness for this dude.
Glad it was useful!
You answered all of my questions, awesome video. To the point. Who needs AI when we have you. Thanks mate.
Glad to help
Excellent; thanks for taking some of the "mystery" out of this process. Well done!
My pleasure!
EXCELLENT video..! I have. friend that needs help troubleshooting an EERO network and you absolutely solved our issue. Thank you!!!
Great to hear!
Thanks so much, is refreshing to get some guidance, in ‘plain speak’, how things work and how to achieve the best set up. Backhaul was confusing me, not anymore, even the best configuration with using mesh and unmanaged switches. Wish I had found your channel sooner. At least I’m subscribed now. Thanks again..!
Appreciate the feedback and for subscribing!
Yep, I too am now subscribed. This guy is phenomenal at explaining something that is technical and boring but his presentation made it very easy to follow and understand. Love this guy and I will point others to Landpet!!!! Thank you so very much for being super helpful! You rock!!!
👩🏼🎨🌵
Bro really broke it down for everybody no BS. Great video.
Thanks
Thx for this video. You covered everything I wanted including all the 2.5gbe stuff. Perfect!
No problem!
One of the best tutorials on anything ever.
Appreciate the feedback!
Thank you, I didn't have a clue about anything to do with mesh networking / wifi 10 mins ago (watched this on 1.5x speed, sry) and now I completely understand the concept of this and can make an informed decision on purchasing. Question for anyone who knows, the eero Pro 6E always requires a separate modem to work?
This is exactly what I've done 😊 and it works! I've installed 4 units but 3 are ethernet backhauled. Only 1 is fully wireless connected simply because there is nowhere to run cables. Just make sure your gateway eero is directly connected to your modem or hub with no switches in the way. I've run an 8 port switch from the gateway which then sends the signal around the house. Now every room has maximum WiFi strength and speed.
The only thing is mobile devices can take some time to change connection between nodes, which can mean a drop in signal strength for a while it isn't instant. It's a minor niggle but I do like seeing full WiFi bars on my device.
The other thing is one of the nodes just died a week ago and nothing would get it to work so I've had to buy a replacement. 😠
Glad it worked out, sucks that thing broke though
Such an exceptional explainer, thank you for this video with no BS
Glad it was helpful!
GREAT job! Thank you.
Outstanding! You answered every scenario possible 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Glad you liked it!
Thanks. This answered all my questions - particularly the last part. I have
No problem!
I'm using the wireless backhaul from two different eero Pro 6E. One from the router, and the other from a remote eero Pro 6E. It pretty much doubles my speed, vs. Wifi, at each location.
Somehow you anticipated every question I had and answered it clearly.
Many thanks 🙏.
My pleasure

You just answer my concern on the wired backhaul. Thank you
Glad I could help
great tutorial. Way to help me out and i am not that technical and you made it very simple to understand. Thanks again.
Thank you. Excellent vid. Comments below capture my thoughts. Well done and very helpful.
Thanks, for the Pro 6E setup guide!

Great vid! Learned a ton.....thanks
Glad to hear it!
Well done on the explanation. Covered all the bases.
Glad it was helpful!
@@landpet I connected an Ethernet cable from the main router to a “mesh” unit. Previously the mesh unit was connecting wirelessly. After connecting the Ethernet cable to it the Eero app still shows the mesh connection as wireless. Is there a setting somewhere to get this to switch to wired backhaul?
Thanks! Very clear and tomorrow I plan to tackle the install with POE satellites
No problem, im sure you know that PoE does require a PoE gateway which i didnt cover here
Yes. Thanks!!
Great Video!
Thanks!
good job explaining , thanks bro
You're welcome
Great video !
Thanks!
Good orientation to the product and how it functions.
Thanks
Hello sir, thank you for the important info regarding eero product. I have carefully watched the video and as ex-employee in eero technical support, I would like to draw your attention for some mistakes you have mentioned in your video.
First : network switches
There are three kinds of switches in market:
a. Unmanaged switch blank and plug and play function available
b. Smart unmanaged switch also plug and play function available
c. Managed switch have an admin page which you can disable and enable many fuctions
What is the difference between smart unmanaged and unmanaged?
Second: The eero network have integrated many smart functions into it, how ever the most important things integrated into eero system are:
1. Spanning tree protocol
2. 802.1p (QOS/COS)
3. IGMP snooping
4. Loop prevention
5. VLAN's
So we go back into what is the difference between smart unmanaged switch and blank unmanaged switch? that the above integrated functions are been included in the smart unmanaged switches and therefore using smart unmanaged switch into eero network could result in strange behaviors such as device loose connection for no reasons or a node could loose connection even if it is wired through a smart unmanaged switch. so eero network will take in charge of the network, then smart unmanaged switch will over ride and try to take in charge of the network, simply they will start fighting with each other!
My research on switches and down loading their technical data sheet, I found that all Netgear switches are smart switches but there are other brands which does not have the 5 important functions build in.
I’ll give an example, down load any netgear switch data sheet and search for the 1 to 5 things I mentioned previously you would find one or more build in and since it is unmanaged switch there is no admin page to disable them. You may down load any of the following switches data sheet and you will not find any of the mentioned points are been build in:
1. TP link LS 1008G lite wave
2. GREENnet TEG-S80g
3. GREENnet TEG-S50g
4. Monoprice switch 110927
5. Tp link TL-SG1008D
6. Luxul xgs-1008
7. TEG1024D 24 ports
8. Greennet S16G 16 ports
9. TL-SG1005d
10. TEG1016D
11. TEG1024D
I would strongly advice to make a new video explaining the above points since we used to advice customers to change the switch if we found out in the data sheet of that particular switch is having some functions which already integrated in the eero system. Finally POE switches to power second or third eero in the network if power outlet is not available is not Advisable and could lead to damage the eero unit, eero has it's eero POE which can be purchase seperatly and safely powered the remaining eero units on wired connections.
Have a nice day and thank you for the videos you’re posting in youtube
Thank you, amazing explanation. I was actually researching and was worried about smart unmanaged vs blank unmanaged switch as I've read about people having issues with smart unmanaged switches with QoS and 802.1p causing connection lags and drops. I actually purchased one of the switches you recommended (TP Link LS 1008G Lite Wave) to run with my Eero Pro 6E setup. I will update with the results soon!
Hello my friend it's me again, I was looking at TP-link SG-1005D and SG-1008D, their data sheets say they have 802.1 QoS, just FYI. They must've updated the model to include some smart features now.
I reviewed the tech sheet and ended up buying the first one on your list (TP-link LS1008G) as it is truly an blank unmanaged switch with no smart features
You answered the only question i had! Thank you!
No problem!
Very helpful. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Very informative video that i was looking. You basically answered alot questions that i used to have. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Well explained..
Thanks!
Great video bro. Very informative and helpful
Glad it was helpful!
ahhh!! that was it! I had a switch BEFORE the EEROs and it was a nightmare, they kept swapping and dropping signals even when they were hard wired.... now I have 1 BEFORE the switcher and BINGO.... thanks!
Glad I could help!
Thank you so muchhhhh your so helpful
Happy to help!
Thank you
You're welcome
great stuff and thanks for the set up explanation. If you ever get to do the best gaming router with wifi that'd be great.
Thanks! If I could get my hands on a few other fast routers, I'll consider it. I recently reviewed the NETGEAR Nighthawk RAXE500 and that one is fast. I think just about any fast router/mesh system that supports QoS should get some fast numbers.
Thank you :)
no problem!
thank you! great explanations of the wired backhaul. I've been wondering if the 2.5Gb mattered... and it sounds like it really doesn't except for some very special cases.
Only if your internet speeds are greater than gigabit and up to 2.5 GBPs, aside from that, shouldn’t matter much unless you’re looking for a special LAN setup
Awesome information - Thanks!! If I do a wired backhaul (2 eeros connected together) without a switch and have other eeros that use wifi signal in different rooms and use the eero ethernet port to connect a device will that create greater speeds even if i’m not using a switch? I presume mixing wired to wireless backhaul methods that uses ethernet at the wireless eeros.
Excellent video! I have a question; since I don't have ethernet throughout my home only coax can I use a Mocha to Ethernet adapter to connect to the second Eero router? Thanks!
Your UA-cam was beneficial for me. Please guide me on what model and brand is the best modem compatible with Eero.
Glad it’s useful, I would just ask your ISP what modem they recommend. Eero should work fine with it
Hi I one question that you did not mention on the video if I wired backhaul the other pro6e and put the other pro 6e as a wireless backhaul close to the wired backhaul will that work better or the same as wireless backhaul close to a wireless backhaul satellite which you don't recommend on the video?
Sure was easy to follow and got my questions answered plus he was an
American and no dialect. 3:54
Glad this video was useful
2 questions:
#1 - can each mesh device (node) that I connect as a wireless node have a unique name for connecting devices to that node?
#2 - how far away can a wireless mesh node be from the main mesh "router" unit and still have great performance?
THANKS for this awesome video!
1. No (this is handled automatically)
2. Depends on your house structure, number of walls, other interference, etc. A general rule of thumb is 30 to 50 ft away.
The app says if the state of the connection, whether it’s good or bad based on the signal strength.
You’re welcome!
17:45 the answer I was looking for! Thank you!
I'm currently running my Eero 6 Pro with an Att Fixed Wireless and had to bridge the Eero system. I just got my Starlink dish and router on Sunday. I am still waiting for the Ethernet adapter to arrive. When I plug my Eero into my Starlink, should I keep my Eero's in Bridged mode or put the Starlink router into Bridge mode? When all is said and done all of the Eero's will be Wired Back haul. If that matters. I was told if I Bridged the Starlink router, I lose all uses of the Starlink app.
No problem.
I don't have Starlink but I heard they have some special cases. I might actually just put the eero in bridge mode and try that out. Typically with the other providers, you should be golden by disabling their routers but with Starlink that may not be advised.
Help..My system was setup the way you said it should not be. Modem to unmanaged sw to 5 LAN/wired connections and to my Gateway eero & bridged eero via PoE ports. The eero sees all the devices, but I’m assuming can only manage the WiFi devices. LAN stays connected when eero reboots, for example. This seems like an unsafe way to connect the wired devices since they are all going out via the unmanaged sw to the Modem. Tech-support for the company who installed the system said this is how it should be set up and if I want to manage my LAN devices, I have to do it through a separate router. Your explanation seems the most simplest and I appreciate it.
Can you use Eero POE gateway instead of a switch for wired backhaul?
Nice video
Thanks
Great vid, thanks. Question: can I use a long either net cable to move the base eero unit to a more central location in my house?
No problem! Sure, as long as it’s less than 100meters
I presently have a asus RT-AC3100 router. Would you suggest I upgrade to the eero pro 6e?
I currently have a cable/modem router and 3 wires out the back of that modem which connect to wall connections on 3 floors of my house---each connecting to a wireless modem thru the wall. I guess my question is should I connect switch to first the eero, then connect the existing 3 wall connection to the switch, and then connect 3 eeros to the ports in the wall on each floor?...I know...its a big house! BTW, your video is fantastic. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer
In my house I have two lan ports in the wall in 4 places so total 8 ports. On the back of it one has a yellow wire attached and one is blue and I assume it is lan and telephone respectively. I have connected all those to a switch inside the network box accept one wire which goes to the modem directly and one wire comes back from the router to the network box to connect to the switch. My concern is that does it matter to use the telephone blue wire as lan and does it use a different twisted pair inside the connecter. This setup works for me but wanted to know does it affects anything? Also can I use my old router as a node with the same ssid and pass?
Fantastic video I have recently purchased these and plan to set up next week. Your video has given me confidence.
I have a question though. Wired backhall what if using an ethernet powerline adapters is that wireless or wired backhall.
Technically it’s wired backhaul. Now a direct Ethernet would be better but power line should still be good.
@@landpet thank you for reply so power line adapter better than wireless backhall
Nice video with simple visual illustrations. At one point you said not to connect another eero to the other port on the modem. I'm curious why that is? I have 4 ports on my gateway (modem/router) and have three eero's connected via wired backhaul in bridge mode. Would this not work if they weren't all in bridge mode? If not, why not?
Great video, though it didn't cover my use case, where I have an existing router and want the eero in bridge mode. Still, I did find everything else very helpful.
There's a bridge setting in the eero app. Just connect the eero to your existing router and have the other eero connect directly to the eero (or through a switch but coming from the other eero)
modem -> original router -> eero -> to other eero or switch -> eero
Great and informative video. Thank you! Side note - has anyone ever told you that you look like Charles Day in Horrible Bosses?
Thanks! No, you are the first. I could kinda see a resemblance. Someone said I look like Morty from Rock and Morty.
I appreciate the video. I'm still sitting on the 3 pack of the pro e from the $419 sale and I'm on the fence about returning. I live in a smaller, but old house with solid plaster and lath walls. Can't do a wired back haul either.
I think they messed up not making the second ethernet port 2gb as well.
Thanks! This system doesn't have the best wireless backhaul speeds. If you want 2 fast ports, then check out the Asus Et12 which also has better wireless backhaul speeds!
@@landpet I'd get the et12 if it wasn't for the price as I'm a fan of Asus. My budget means the $400 is already at the top of what I can spend unfortunately.
Can I connect the eero router to my existing router through wifi? I have a netgear nighthawk I use the dumos features. Frontier sent me a router with my service so can I use the eero as a wifi extender?
I was told by eero you can mix them but it's not recommended. Remember, the Pro6E is up to 1gig while Eero 6 only up to 500mbps. In my case, I will have to use all Pro6E since my internet is 1200mbps.
Thank for the video I'm waiting for Amazon to deliver my gig switch.
Yup, you can mix them, I’m also not a fan of mixing them for various reasons like dual band vs tri band, etc
This was great. Can I attach a network switch for my NAS to the wireless router? I am about to set one up and trying to figure out the best way I can set it up.
Sure
I'm about to get one of these from my ISP, I've seen some of the settings via the app, but I need to do some advanced network configuration settings . I have not found any documentation on this, maybe you can make a video on that, or point me in the right direction? Thanks
Amazing videos - well spoken, easy to understand!! Question: I'm thinking of getting Eero. I have some devices that must use 2.4. How do I get both bands? Currently my (apple) router allowed me to set up two: Network2.4 and network5.6 said's. Can Eero do this?
Thanks. With eero, you cannot separate the bands. eero will automatically determine which band a device should use. It is one SSID.
If you want something that can separate bands. Check out the ASUS XT9.
Great vid, thanks. Question- Can I wire connect 3 eeros directly into my router/modem? OR do I have to disable my AT&T router and then connect one eeros to modem then out to the other two eeros?
I would disable your ATT router and connect one eerro to modem and the other two eeros to that one eero.
I smashed subscribe bcuz I enjoy the way you explain things and videos you post. Hoping I can get this silly question answered:
If you have let’s say 200Mbps internet.
Does having a Eero 6E system vs a 6 pro system matter? Like does it run smoother on one vs the other?
Also side note: nice moves at 13:41 😆
Thanks! Appreciate the sub!
No difference on the main router between the two. If you're going to use wireless backhaul then the secondary node may differ in speeds granted the pro 6E didn't really improve the wireless backhaul speeds.
Lol I forgot about the reflex save of the modem.
Great video I needed to watch. How does wireless backhaul differ using a eero max 7? How much difference will it make compared to doing it with pro 6? Does eero max 7 make it like a wired connection on a backhaul setup?
Yeah eero max 7 almost makes it like a wired connection depending on your internet speeds. I have a video with a demo on this.
[NEW] eero Max 7 Wireless Backhaul Tests - WiFi 7 Speeds
ua-cam.com/video/SsDRGeAUTb8/v-deo.html
You should review a Firewalla. Firewalla and eero is a good combo now that eero Plus is so expensive.
Thanks for the tip. I'll consider it for the future, it does look interesting
Again very informative video, thank you. I have a bunch of Eero 6 pro’s, unfortunately my house is not suited for wired backhaul, so I know speeds are decreasing. As you mentioned the wireless speeds of the 6E pro are crazy fast, does that also mean powerful, meaning other nodes receive stronger signals via the witeless backhaul, hence improve overall witeless speeds? Thanks!
No problem. If you’re looking for wireless backhaul performance, I’d go with the Deco XE75 or XE75 Pro instead, I got better numbers from those compared to the eero Pro 6E. The Pro 6E is not much of an upgrade from the Pro 6 aside from the 6GHz band but the wireless backhaul is not as great. In the video when I mentioned 6GHz, I was referring to just having a 6E device connecting to the main eero itself or in a wired backhaul configuration.
@@landpet thank you for taking the time to respond. I have a smart home set-up based on Apple Homekit. I did buy the Deco xe75, but I faced a lot of issues with devices randomly losing connection to the Deco’s. Expecially the Homepod Mini’s that are key to running Homekit, but also my Bose speakers, smart switches etc. Mostly 2.4 Ghz band. I read quite a lot of posts of people having similar issue. I returned the Deco’s. That was a shame, as the Deco’s seemed to be a big improvement. Do you have any experience with Deco’s and solid Homekit set-up?
How to do you connect your Eero router to your mobile hotspot on an iPhone to use as back up internet?
It’s not designed to work that way
My 2nd Eero downstairs in my new build doesn't power on nor is detected by the app? My first eero is powered on in my network closet and I found the ethernet cord that said WAP and plugged that into the 2.5 slot on both and nothing happens. Do I have to get a network switch with POE to turn on the 2nd EERO is it only has an ethernet connection in the ceiling?
Question: I have a Netgear router/managed switch. I would like to plug that into the euro router, to give me the ethernet ports I need. Is this possible?
Great vid! My ring floodlight is awful! I bought a chime pro 2nd gen put it in hallway and still no good! I’ve literally just bought a 6e (arriving tomorrow) will/should it improve the connection solely off just the 1?
Thanks! It depends where you place it, if you place it within a room or two, it should be fine. The important thing to note is that 6E is not going to help much since the Ring itself doesn't run off 6E, it's usually a much slower than that. I don't know any details about your place but generally speaking a 2 pack of a mesh system covers most homes less than 2000 sq ft. If your home is larger, I would suggest looking at 3 packs or more.
Thanks for the review. Is the eero 6e able to connect with a moca adapter to create a landline? If so, would that mean the Wi-Fi connection would be stronger?
Thanks in advance!
No problem. yes it would, I just released my MoCA Adapter video today, this thing will boost speeds.
@@landpet Cool! Thanks!
hi, love your videos, thank you! i was just about to by the ring alarm pro but i love my eero pro 3 pack.. i think i need all three... like you said, you always connect to the closest one.. now that being said.. i am getting the feeling if i get the ring alarm pro i am basically going to have to trash my 3 lovely eero pros(mine are the more square flat kind, if that matters, def not the beacon)?
and then i have to just use the new ring eero router only as my new home router? if this is true i am so bummed... thanks again
Thanks. I haven't tried this but I'm pretty sure you can your ring alarm pros built in eero to your existing router setup as an additional node.
Very Interesting video. I got 3 eero 6+ connected to my modem/router. As the eero managed where my device is connected, do you know if I can force specific device to connect to the closest eero? For instance my Tesla and wall connector connected several times to the farest eero beacon and speed connection is not enough fast to handle Tesla and wasp connector. Thank you again for the great video!
Unfortunately, you cannot choose which node your device can connect to. Eero does that automatically
Excellent tutorial. But my problem with eero (I have a mostly wired Pro 6E network) is that it does not play nice with SONOS (also mostly wired).
interesting, didn't know that. I don't have sonos speakers
Currently I have two eero pro 6E. Both wired on a unmanaged 2.5gb switch. The main one from the router is faster around 1.4 gbps. The second one is only getting under gig.
Yup because the pro 6E only has one fast port, the other port is gigabit so once it goes out from the gigabit port or comes into the gigabit port then the speeds will be capped to gigabit. If you want to get full speeds on the secondary one, you need a router with 2 ports that support the speeds you want to get, in your case both would need to be 2.5Gbps. For example the eero Max 7 would work or a cheaper alternative would be the deco x55 pro or you could get the deco be63.
Such an awesome video. Helped tremendously! Will the eero's work with POE? I have an unmanaged switch that supports POE. My house is wired already in the ceilings and would be awesome to just pop in the eero's where my current routers sit.
There’s a new version of eero coming out that will work with PoE, they will have their own gateway as well.
@@landpet Excellent! Do you know when that will be out?
I need your help! I moved my couch and internet went out. My system is blinking red. I have eero a switch a Vivint memory and this lil blk box that’s connected to the wall cable on one end and on the other is Ethernet from Frontier.
Fantastic video, like others, I need to see the props and the detailed explanations. QUESTION: I have 25 mega bytes per second on DSL broadband. You said in video I can hardwire two eeros to the modem/router (mine is both in one device), and that 'would make a strong signal.' So would that, PLUS one eero on the other side of the house, connected to a tv, be stronger signal than one eero central location, hardwired to modem/router combo, sandwiched between two unwired wifi eeros, one on each end of the house? Thank you
Thanks!
I would disable the router portion of your modem/router combo. I would then hardwire one eero to it and centrally place that. Then I would place the other two eeros on each side of your house. Here's the kicker, the eero that is wirelessly connected (the one by your TV), you can run ethernet cables to that secondary eero and it should get you a good connection.
@@landpet thank you, I did put one on each end of the house and hardwired the Frontier modem/router combo device to the eero, and also hardwired the DirecTV streaming box to the frontier modem/router. Tomorrow I will try again to figure out how to disable the frontier router on the 192.168.254 yada website but according to the frontier tech, I don't need to disable the frontier router and yet on bothe Frontier's AND Eero's websites they tell you to disable the internet provider's router. This is why laypersons are getting so confounded bc it's impossible to get straightforward guidance.
Can you feasibly create a wired backhaul using something like TP-Link AV2000 Powerline Adapter, to relieve congestion on the 6ghz side as more wifi6 devices connect? As to not use or free up the 6ghz lane being used as the backhaul.
Yes you could do that
I also have a router/modem combo. If I disable the router portion, does the modem portion have any settings that would make it faster or slower than any other modem?
There shouldn't be any option on the modem you need to change. Just disabling the router portion of that and you should be golden.
Good info just subscribed. Got new isp (1gig hardwired)and they used eero pro 6e as the the gateway upstairs. Notice huge drop off in basement. I know I said u preferred keeping same models in use. But would a 6+ (up to 1gb)eero be enough to add to basement(gaming consoles primary)? Will be ordering Ethernet switch as will becuz of 4 consoles down in basement.
Thanks, yes the 6+ will help for sure as long as you don't expect full speeds.
Hello, if i connect like you said from the modem to the the first router to switch and then to the next router, the speed is the same as i connect a router direct to a router or I need a particular switch to maintain the same speed as direct?
If it's wired backhaul, then the speeds will be the same assuming the cables you have support the speeds and the switch you have support the speeds. If you need gigabit speeds, just about any switch will support that nowadays, I have links in the description section. Any ethernet cable cat5E or above like cat6, cat7 or cat8 will support those speeds.
I have a AT&T U-verse 2 in 1 modem /router combo. It is connected to a 16 port switch that feeds my house that is pre-wired with Ethernet ports in every room. I have put the eeros in bridge mode and connected them to these ports throughout the house. Is this the best setup or should I have put the modem/router into bridge mode instead?
Hopefully, your modem/router combo supports wifi 6E. The simple answer is if you're happy with results then you're good. I personally prefer to have the eero as the main router so I would rather put the modem/router in bridge mode.
I have followed the back haul setup with an unmanaged switch between them as you demonstrated. It is working, except that I am getting a flashing blue light on the additional eero unit. Please advise.
Flashing blue I think on eero means ready for setup. You still need to add that eero in the eero app to make it part of the network. So just check the eero app to add it
How do you connect 2 Eero Pro 6E’s together, if you have internet faster than 1Gbps, and you want them both to perform faster than 1Gbps?
I was having interference issues with my current network. To alleviate this I purchased a Deco X55 and set it up in AP mode. Things were fixed. Frontier had some specials to upgrade my speed from my 0rigianl 75 Meg up-down. So, I said yes because it was cheaper than my current bill. They sent me this Eero 6+ and told me to set it up. What a mess as it was competing with the new Mesh. So, I finally set the eero in bridge mode. The Deco has far more configurations for my needs. They will be out soon to upgrade my modem and hopefully, the connection from the ONT to the modem. Any issues with setting the error in bridge mode while having the Deco Mech setup as ethernet AP nodes? Thanks
