    When you say add "devices" are you talking about more Eeros or are you talking about a Roku, a computer, etc? The unit I got is a single Eero unit. So it's physically plugged into the modem in the corner of the living room. I need it to fix a dead spot in the back bedroom. I don't see how one unit setting right next to the modem is supposed to do that. Isn't this a relay device? Or does it boost the signal somehow?

    • @cloudhobbyist
      @cloudhobbyist 3 роки тому +5

      If you have one eero device then it's essentially your router. To fix dead spots you should've purchased more than one unit. For example, one to connect to your modem to act as the router and any additional eero's you might need to cover the rest of your home.

    • @BestBuy
      @BestBuy  Рік тому +2

      Eero Beacons don't have ethernet ports and will generally be slightly slower than an eero 6 base unit. They're often used to cover specific dead spots or as cheaper coverage for the edges of a network. To figure out coverage, you'd want to have an eero base unit as central as possible in your home and then place units no more than 50 feet apart if possible.

    I added mine and ran a speed check. At the modem I had 750mbps at the eero I got 235mbps and at the other eero I got 230. Is this normal? I was expecting a little faster than 230.

    • @BestBuy
      @BestBuy  Рік тому

      Transmission speed will depend not only on your router but also on the throughput of the WiFi equipment on your laptop. Depending on which eero model you have and the laptop's capabilities, those speeds aren't untypical. It's also important to consider the actual speeds most services you'll use require. For example, most streaming video services recommend 5 Mbps for full HD content and 25 Mbps for 4K Ultra resolution.

      With mesh systems like eero, you only need to connect one of the base units to your broadband modem. The other units can be placed anywhere in your home as long as they're connected to a wall outlet for power. When your laptop or phone or console connects to a eero device, it passes the signal along wirelessly through a back channel to the base unit connected to the modem.

      It's likely that you have a device that acts both as a modem and wifi router if your equipment was provided by your broadband provider. A modem is a device that will convert the wired connection coming into the home into something the computers can use. A WiFi router is a device that allows your computers, tablets, etc to connect to that point wirelessly. Sometimes you'll have a separate modem and router, but it's also possible to buy a device that has both.

    Really expensive when compared to one router with good range. TDS put one in my home, and it only really works in the room it is in. If I want to extend it I need to spend hundreds of dollars more for more devices. So it might work well, but is a far more expensive option to do the same job.

    You didn't mention that you need to add a ethernet wire when shown on the second eero device. You only said plug in the next one. So what are you plugging? So how do you setup the second or third eero Device? Do we need to purchase a ethernet cord if not prewired? If a person wants to use it in a converted basement that resembles living room or a man cave how do we get connected in details please.

    I have a question.
    The young lady that convinced me to purchase the Mesh Eero 6 Wifi System instead of a regular extender said that one of the three would replace our Router, I’ve been very busy because of work and I had to leave town on short notice, so I told my wife to connect it, and she said that she had to connect it to the Router.
    She connected it to one of the four Ethernet connections on the router, she says both our Modem and Router only have one Internet connection plug. She says it’s working, but I bought it because I thought we would save money on our internet bill, no longer needing their Router.
    Did my wife install it wrong?

      Oh, sorry Best Buy, I forgot to say, and she said the Modem only has an Internet Connection Plug-in, that it does not have Ethernet Connections. Only our Router has the 4 Ethernet Plug-in Connections..

    I purchased a eero pro 6 wi fi and when i tried to set it up by following the youtube instructions. I tried at least a dozen time and could not get the wi fi to connect. First of it would not let me set up a different account, so I had to use my Amazon Account. After following the video instructions carefully it kept telling me there was an error. I was very disappointed. As i found out the eero app. does NOT work with a Moto G Power, what more a I drove to Best Buy to return it, the Moto G Power kept stopped working off and on in my Lexus. I pulled over and deleated the app and there was no more problem. Your company needs to do more testing before you put the app on the market. Needless to say I will be buying a different brand of mess router.

    So it seems the Eeros have to remain connected to the modem/router in order to broadcast a signal, which seems pretty pointless. The second I move my Eero to a designated room, the light turns red - it ONLY works if it's plugged into my router. This is worthless.

    • @BestBuy
      @BestBuy  2 роки тому

      It sounds like you're looking to use the eero as a range extender for an existing router. The eero system is designed to have more than one eero device. At least one eero will need to act as a central station, connected to your broadband modem. From there, you can place the other eero devices anywhere in the house and they will connect with each other and then back to that central station.
      As the eero's designed to replace any existing routers, you'll probably want to look at range extenders at bby.me/fc7nba if you have a modem and router built into a single box and you only want one additional device to work with that existing router.

      As shown on the app, you'll be asked which location to mark that eero device as being in. For example, "living room", "bedroom", "office" or a custom name. As most eero setups will have more than one node located in separate rooms this allows you to mark which one goes where so you can easily distinguish them in the app.

    • @BestBuy
      @BestBuy  Рік тому

      WiFi boosters and extenders work differently in that they simply rebroadcast the signal throughout the house. This can often cut speeds in half. The difference with mesh networks like eero is that they work intelligently with each other and have high-speed backchannels they communicate with to send information received from the closest node to you to the node connected to the incoming broadband connection.
