Since I'm a rookie when it comes to wifi knowledge and know more about it NOT working - this video really helped me understand the diff between Gh bands - I think I'll go with the EERO 6 for my needs from Amazon, since I can return it if it doesn't work. At least I know this is a good one to try for my spotty wifi service with Tmobile. Thanks a lot Adam. You rocked it.
Is this system still working for you two years later? Any hiccups. Thanks for your informative video.
Hand written notes. So cute
Very nice video Adam Thanks! Detailed and calm.
Thanks Soeren! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
We had this same model for about 6 months. But a couple of days we would loose the signal & you would see the red light on the puck. It would eventually come back on to the amber light, But now even though everything seems to be okay. The downloads have gone to crap. Speed test show we are only getting less than 2 mps d/l speeds. This is even when the pucks are hard wired. What could be the problem?
Hey Nabi! Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I found this article you may want to take a look at: support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/207908613--I-m-experiencing-slow-performance-on-my-entire-eero-network
I hope it helps!
@@TechTimewithAdam Sorry I did not get back to you. I had already went most of those steps in the link you provided right after posting my msg. Even called Spectrum tech support, which was of no help. But we finally reset the whole network through the app & that cleared the problem. I will keep the link you provided for future reference, thanks.
I just ordered that one my old one was the Internet provider router and it’s very slow so I hope this will be a big upgrade to the Internet Provider router
Did it help? What speed plan do you have through your ISP?
@@TechTimewithAdam 200 Mbps from Spectrum and now I have WiFi in my room now my old router didn’t go that far
Nice presentation. A year later now so I probably will purchase the Eero Pro system, not that I think I need it for my 1600 SF ranch style home with 250 MB service, but because it is tri band wifi6 and if I buy it I want it to last for quite a few years into the future.
I think I setup eero 6 but I'm not sure . I have a solid white light on each . Is it setup correctly? furthermore, how to I check upload and download speed?
Yes, a white light means the system is online and ready to go. Once you're connected to your Eero network just go to Google and search for "internet speed test" and click on any one of the search results.
Does the Eero works with my old wireless router or I have to buy a new modem?
I replaced my old router with the Eero, I just plugged the Eero into my existing modem and was good to go. I don't know how it would work if you piggybacked it off of your current router and used both systems.
do you have to bridge with the modem and a third party router ? have heard that in some places...cheers from Canada
I didn't have to, I went directly from modem to Eero Router
maybe a dumb question but I am moving from an apartment to a house and bringing my spectrum internet modem with me. Currently the modem's ethernet cable goes right into my cable box. However, at the new house i'm not going use the cable boxes (opting for the spectrum app on samsung tv). Where do I now plug my modem into to receive the internet signal?
Did you get everything set up? Even if you're not using cable boxes you'll still use cable for your internet, so the cable will come out of the wall and into a modem, then an ethernet cord will go from the modem to your router.
Would I only need one Ethernet cord to the main eero & Router? Or do I need have to get another one in the bedroom also, and And if so would my son hook it up to his PlayStation with the Ethernet cord?
You'd only need one for from the modem to the main eero. The satellite eero connects wirelessly. You can plug the Playstation into either eero with an ethernet cable or connect the Playstation wirelessly
Have you tested with many devices streaming ant the same time
We've ran multiple TVs streaming with phones, laptops, and a Switch with no lag or problems
Every video I watch make setup look easy my eero 6 I just got just won't connect to internet
Did you get it to connect?
Can you help me set up my eero 6? I have AT&T modem/router BGW210-700. Guy at Best Buy said I needed to buy a new modem. So he sold me the Arris SURFBoard 8200 and the eero 6 ( 2 wireless and 1 wired). On the Arris set up says I need to connect coaxial cable. The AT&T router doesn't have one. I called AT&T and they want to sell me an extender router. I already spend close to $500. Don't want to buy anymore. If I can't figure this out I'll just return it keep everything how it is.
Do you have cable internet or DSL? DSL doesn't use a coaxial cable (I don't think). Either way you should be able to plug your modem directly into your Eero router
Curious if the eero are all plugged in via lan or were you just going off the mesh only?
The main Eero at my TV stand was plugged directly into my modem, the satellite node in my bedroom was wireless. All of the speed tests were on my phone over Wi-Fi
is this the eero 6 that just got released yesterday?
Couldn't have been since I bought it on prime day a week and a half ago and received it the following weekend
@@TechTimewithAdam ahh thought that since Amazon owns eero maybe the release date was different for Canada
You mean the Eero 6 Mesh? No that's not the one in this video. Mine doesn't support wifi 6. Mine goes up to 350mbps, still plenty fast for my needs and faster than any plan offered by my ISP
Did you shut off the WIFI on the LinkSys Router ?
Yes, I replaced the Linksys router with the Eero system.
do they have a port to hook up a ethernet cable? one is the base but what about the extender?
Yes, every node has an ethernet out port so they can all be hardwired into something.
So mesh WiFi System is the way to go over other types of WiFi extenders?
From what I understand, wifi extenders have different network names than the network that they're extending (i.e. the network name from the router would be network 1, then the network from the extender would be network 2) even though they're just extending the original network. So you'd have to manually switch networks depending on where you're at inside.
Mesh wifi systems extend the network while keeping the same network name so you don't have to switch networks on your device based on your location in the house, and the mesh system automatically switches your device to run off the strongest node.
Thank you for this informative video 👍🏾
You're welcome! Thank you for the comment!
I was so happy you ran into trouble now if that happens to me I know what to do.
Lol I hope it helps!
Is an existing internet provider needed to use the Eero or is it a stand alone WiFi system?
You'd need an ISP and modem for this to work. The Eero is basically just a router with expanded coverage and a few extra features.
@@TechTimewithAdam what is isp where do I get that I'm stuck plz help
@@uncledrew98 ISP stands for internet service provider. Your local cable company probably has an internet service. Or Google "ISP near me"
@@TechTimewithAdam thank you for the reply🙏
What about your upload speed since you are a you tuber? Thanks, nice video! I have a 500speed plan but my upload is hours for video! Uhg!
There was really no change in my upload speeds. My videos take hours to upload too!!
Does this work without any echo devices or alexa?
Yes, you don't need an echo device to use this.
So i cant use my existing router ?
You can still use your existing router and even your existing modem if you want to.
So how do you access 2.4ghz to add smart home stuff that only supports 2.4ghz?
It automatically connects the 2.4ghz only devices to the 2.4ghz network. You don't need to do it manually
For my Wyze camera your phone has to be on 2.4hgz to setup so how do you get your phone on 2.4ghz if it only connects to the faster 5ghz?
@@Ciangi87 if I remember correctly, you scan the square URL code on the camera from your phone and then the app automatically finds the camera on the network to set it up. If your network is through the Eero Mesh router it should find it regardless.
thank you for this. sold me.
You're very welcome! There's a link in the description that will take you straight to Amazon! Thanks for the comment!
We just got the set of 3 yesterday And put one on each level. The one upstairs I plugged into my son's xbox directly. We have Hulu so we always have multiple things going on. So far so good
What is the range?
It's advertised range is 3,000 square feet. Realistically I can only say that it covers my whole house and reaches at least to the end of my driveway without dropping out.
Great video! Thank you for all the speed tests.
Thank you and you're welcome!
What if you have a router/modem combo
I'm pretty sure it'll still work.
@@TechTimewithAdam yup. Just bought this 2hrs ago. So far work it! Can't believe I've been suffering this long with shitty gaming lol. I had a WiFi extender but it was useless for 3 floors
Can this replace Xfinity wifi??
I'm not sure 🤔🤷🏼♂️
Thats exactly what I'm doing Dana. I'm going to get the Eero 6 3 Pack but you will need a "phone service " capable modem in addition to the Eero system if you get your home phone service from Xfinity. You can check to see if a modem is approved by Xfinity on their website. Great video, very thorough 😁
@@andrewwiley4208 thank you!
I bought the Eero 6 3 pack + 1 additional extender, I believe just the 3 pack would have been enough. We have a 3300 sq. feet 2 story house and now get consistent 711-712 mbps download and 18 mbps upload. Currently using the Xfinity Voice modem and will replace that in the next 2 weeks. Your video was the final video to convince me to get it.
@@andrewwiley4208 awesome! I'm glad the video helped!!
You did not show how to set up a mesh system. You showed how to stare at a phone for 20 minutes... no hook up instructions.
nice job
Thank you!
GARBAGE... sticking with my TP link DUAL BAND ... this eero is a pain in the ass.. had blue light and would not connect.. so stuck with junk.. had to take this crap back...
Ok cool 🦄
Its good but no content filter
It does have filters but I believe you have to buy a subscription to use them
nice video , can I configure VPN on it
Thanks Leon! From what I've read, you can use a VPN if you have another router in front of the Eero
Great video. Well done.
Thank you!
