I’m hooked on this game. Laughed watching some of these videos when people have defeated the bosses by day 100. I’m on 162 and still having fun on my first seed lmao. Love everything you can do, as well as how the game punishes you for doing it sometimes lol.
Gonna go out on a limb here and say that when first exploring the Plains, queue up Eikthier. No matter your level, being able to get out fast is just about as important as getting in.
@@aarepelaa1142jumping right before they attack is an efficient way to “out run” them since they run off and double back. But there’s next to nothing you can do about them when your fighting a horde

For those who are a bit more confident in their melee combat, the atgeir tears through the plains with the spin attack being a rather strong aoe stumble. Good for those who are.. less patient and running solo, though will take much more careful stamina management
@@bmohr9826 no one is born skilled its something you have to learn so that just sounds like an excuse to not try because the less skilled option is easier
Just one lil addition: wolf skewer is also a great HP food at this stage of the game. It can replace the serpent stew (which is a quite costly food, BTW). If you manage to tame and breed wolves, that can give unlimited access to their drops, including meat.
I hope more people begin to play Valheim, I had a friend buy it for me when it came out and I just didn’t give it enough of a chance, but I started playing two weeks ago and I’m at 100 hours lmao, idk if the death mechanics changed or what, did your stuff used to disappear? Not sure why I’m so much more hooked this time. I just remember losing all my stuff like twice last time not being able to get it back and quitting. I just hope they don’t take too long in ash lands and deep north so the game can be fully released and it will shine, I definitely think they need more ocean content/islands some kinds of crypts to make sailing more interesting since everyone complains about transporting metal but I love it, I just think it would be cool if eventually you can use the boss trophies on the portals the transfer the next level of metal minus never being able to portal the current tier of metal but all the previous ones if you have the bosses defeated but either way I’ll be happy as I enjoy the sailing I just want more reasons to stop and explore, they could definitely add more foods and maybe another set of mid game gear from like turtle hide or shark skin or something
@@sirsilco I was off for a week to have a baby and before that I had alot more time even with full time job lol now maybe 20 hours a week which is killing me
Really helpful video coming in late to Valheim. One thing to mention is the fire resistance from the Fenris armor doesn't stack with Barley Wine. Resistance effects in general do not stack in this game and if you have multiple active you get the effect of the stronger one.
great guide! I feel like you left out the tactics aspect of fighting yag legit; which is mainly, identifying his attack animations and dodging the meteors with the stone fingers. weathering the blue aoe dot is the best time to get dmg in, if you have the stam/hp. Also, a bit more on tar pits would have been good as they can be gruesome. Aggroing fulings into tar pits is an excellent way to wipe camps and tar pits; provided there are tar pits nearby.
Avoiding deathsquitoes is bad advice for those new to plains. You do not want to be in a position where you're kiting 3-4 fulings looking for a spot to safely shoot them and you get stunned from behind the deathsquito you tried to go around earlier. Dispose of threats as you see them.
I always keep a huntsman bow while clearing fuling villages right after or before moder. Huntsman bow makes less sound so the fulings next to the one you shoot wont notice you, makes it a lot easier.
Pro tip for spending less calories on pronouncing "vegviser" (this is one of several correct pronounciations) : "Vay-visa". The "g" can be turned in to an ay sound, and the "r" can be muted for simplicity. That way, you're not juggling consonants at the end of syllables, which makes it a much simpler word.
Killin Abominations is pretty easy regardless of Equip. All you need is a Bow, a Pickaxe and probally a Hoe. Find a Surtling Flame, lower it down till you have ankle-deep Watrer (not more, you need the Movement unimpeded later. The Water will kill all spawning Surtlings fast - and you can kite the Abomination over the Flame to kill it superfast (40 Damage per second). And the Root harnesk may be nice, but it grants weakness towards Fire - which some Fuling (Goblins) have, onehitting you. - The Dragon Helmet is great as it has good Armor and no Movement Penalty. Else, I really learned to love the Fenris Armor from the Mountain Dungeons - the added Movement is insaneley useful in the plains. - Deathskitos can easily be onehitted by a well timed attack when they charge before they can do anything. - Also, a Serpent Shield may be heavy, but get compensated with Fenris Armor - plus offer Pierce Resist without downside. You even move outside the Fuling attacks by just walking back, allowin the thrust-counters to go in. - Always have the best Bow you can have and a trusty Sword.
Actually they are easy to evade. When a growth stops to spit tar on you, sprint aside and then run it down and finish it with your decent Frostner. It is easy now for growths will stay stationary for 5 secs after their attack. Root mask can also help to reduce their poison effect, should you be hit by them. Important: once they hit you, don't try to run away. You have a very slight chance for that. Be aggressive, run them down, that is your only real chance.
The growths indeed suck lol, like the shamans. You can sneak up to them and two shot them and slow them tremendously with draugr fang bow and frost arrows. My entire kit is geared towards frost on the plains because of how much it slows everything. Frost arrows and Frostner put in work lol.
I accidentally discovered the burning trick with abominations. I had dug out a surtling spawner and wanted to pick up coal on my way away from it because I can’t parry it lol. Turns out it started burning itself on the fire as I hid behind an adjoining tree in shock and horror
As @tamarackgaming mentioned just below me - when you go to the Plains, just make sure you can run OUT of the Plains very easily. In fact? Just don't ever go to the Plains. Like Camelot - "'Tis a silly place". XD
an other nice and funny trick is to walk with the abomination into a troll. I gave the Abomintion some hits while he was fighting against the trall and they died together.
Bro never mentioned you can only grow flax and barley in plains, i wasted so much growing them in my main base in meadows😭, would've made base near plains if i knew instead of upgrading old one
great tips, thanks. always wondered why maces did extra damage to blobs. shouldn't pierce handle that role better than blunt? oh well...off to the plains. not looking forward to deathsquitos
Bro, I was in the plains while watching this and you were talking about wearing the root armor piece to prevent Deathsquito damage and so the sounds were playing in the video, and I didn't hear a Deathsquito sneak up on me and hit me for half my health 😭
All the swamps on my world with crypts are also connected to plains. I've killed 3 deathsquitos with iron armor. I would switch worlds but I also have a maypole on my world
Recommending to eat the Serpent Stew is not at all a good idea, as it's quite expensive to make and hunting for Serpents is kinda a waste of time. You should rather eat the Wolf Skewers as they are easy to make and not that much worse than the Serpent Stew. Also, why the heck would you eat the Onion Soup rather than Eyescream? Eyescream is just a better food all around and it lasts longer. It's also very cheap to make provided you haven't been thought out your Grey Dwarf eyes.

I feel like bonemass is alot better with the dmg resistances. You can just tank quite a few hits and deathsquitos outrun you no matter what anyways.
Bonemass is a lot better I think. When you suddenly get gang by fullings, it can save you
It definitely depends on your play style but I’m with you that Eikthier is the best ability for almost any of the biomes.
