BRO this helps so much i just pick up wow again since cata. kinda using wow to get help get off meds/handle pressure thru withdrawl. even beening a zombie i understood soo much 7 keys was draining my mana now i get it
Tip for mana, you can queue a follower dungeon and get mage food for free. You can also eat mage food + drink mana water at the same time for super fast mana regen
@wasjustjoeking Mage food can not be combined with Food that gives hp+mana. It needs to be combined with a Drink that gives only mana as far as I know.
i noticed recalling the healing rain totem can actually be way stronger than the healing stream totem reacall, as it gives you back those 3 charges to burst heal again. this is ofc very situationnal, but it kinda of act as "healing cd" to be able to place healing rain , consum 3 charges, then recall, & repeat. (can save you if u run out of actual heal cd)
@@madhudson1 what makes you say that? I have tried both and I feel like the unpredictability of Pugs eating random shit & not doing mechanics fits better with the burst that farseer can put out
The biggest issue I've been running into with Totemic is high burst single target healing. Stuff like the 3rd mini boss in Dawnbreaker. I was struggling HARD to keep people up with the dot + the burst damage from the ball. It seemed manageable on a +12, but on a +13 it was a major struggle on what is supposed to be an easier key. I think part of the issue was the tank's route (lusted on a big pull outside cathedral then went straight from 2nd mini boss to 3rd mini boss right into 2nd boss with no recovery pulls between) but it also just feels like a weak part of the Totemic kit
Instead of taking ancestral awakening, I actually put the points in coalescing water and primal tidal core. Seems to be a lot for me so far. I constantly keep riptide going and the 10% mana save on chain heal plus it making my next riptide 75% better. I try to keep points in things that are always going to be helpful vs a % or chance thing. Note: I’m only pushing 6-8 keys currently so what I’m running may not be viable in higher keys.
One thing to not about resto shaman in general is that we scale hard on crit, because of bonuses from critting on spells. You'll notice it being easier to manage your mana bar with more crit and that stream totem has an easier time topping the group. As for versatility its just really nice to be tankier as a healer, so you dont have to panic when you drop lower ( part of why i dont like pres mastery). You want 12-18% haste and sadly our mastery is terrible. TLDR: Get crit!
12-18% is much higher than I'd recommend, I am on 6% haste, 23% crit with no flask, and 15% vers. The vers helps your damage and is working out to ~8% DR permanently which helps a TON in high keys, especially crossing into 12s plus it bumps your base healing which benefits from how often you are going to crit with your stacked buffs and high raw crit. Ideally I'd have more crit and less vers until I bumped into mathematical survivability walls but I'm not pushing THAT competitively so I am fine with what I've got :) Like Jak mentions, you are rarely hardcasting chain heal and healing surges are more than quick enough and big enough if you're keeping on top of riptides and Master of the Elements and making active use of your Totemic motes (right after placing surging totem, your next healing surge will cleave onto someone standing in the healing rain, the easiest way to take advantage is yourself - plant yourself inside the healing rain and you can healing surge someone else and if you're low in healing rain you'll get the big fat surge) If you really super duper need a fast cast - just Nature's Swiftness the surges and it'll borderline eliminate your cast times. You should be healing surging with intent consuming large stacking buffs as often as you can, but just sending healing surges indiscriminately would fall behind quickly without high haste. I tried swapping my ring enchants to haste to see if the extra nudge just for helping GCDs might be worth it but you can feel the difference in HST's ability to provide upward healthbar momentum with crit so I just swapped back.
I've been playing Farseer and Totemic, and both are great. However, for some more difficult keys in pugs, I would opt for Farseer 4 out of 5 times. It's just more sound healer if things go south.
I feel like the odd one out getting ksm with farseer only. I feel like I have better agency with my heals and being able to dump hps. I also almost exclusively pugged to 2k so that probably plays into the decision as well.
One little cool thing to note re: Master of the Elements.... is that it spreads Flame Shocks, which is a cool little minigame. Additionally, I think personally that the talent in Sprouting Spirits is best used somewhere else, dont sleep on flow of the tides or spiritwalkers tidal totem
Two talent points into mana tide and spiritwalkers is something I can't spare, especially if I'm not struggling with mana. I do think spouting spirits isn't needed in m+ though
Would you be able to make one for ancestral as well? I recognize i seem to be in the minority in enjoying ancestral, i just feel like it gives me more tools to deal with dungeon issues.
Single greatest improvement I found in how I was playing totemic is to almost never hard cast a chain heal. That alone has helped me time my first 4 +12s over the past few days.
Nice info to know. Just starting to try out Resto. Wanted a break from HPriest, potentially. I'm not running super high keys, so HPriest is still pretty fun and viable for me at my skill level. Being a 'good' resto shaman seems quite daunting, from my perspective.
Great video! Id absolutely love a farseer one as well👍 i swapped from farseer to totemic cuz im raiding and my haste was way to bad for farseer😅 But im m+ i do think its very fun and wanna try out again with the dmg buffs😊
I'm on the same page man idk why I feel like my mistweaver is 10X better. Shamen just isn't clicking with me. I feel like my HPS is dog shit. Idk what is up.
finally a helpful guide to shaman clearing up more the usage of cd and rotations but i still find myself even with my premates that they simply wont stack to make good use of healing rain/downpour and i quickly run out of totems to use for chain healing you could say they dont like to use their defenses that well and often the group takes damage as a whole and suddenly someone stood in a puddle and they barely have 5% left i just start to panic and draw blanks too often falling back to hard casting surges, also could you give a bit more insight on -healing wave and if there is any purpose for it or not, - riptide as in keep pumping out these stacks right away or make use of the two stacks tidal waves before applying a new riptide
if your team won't stack there is very little you can do about it. However, if you're having to face big aoe situations and you have a dk+tank in melee and some squishies (priest, mage lock etc) off in narnia pew pewing. It's best (in my experience) to put your surging totem on those squishies (ideally stand with them) hit them with downpour and a riptide to give them the 20% bonus health they will need to live through aoe, whereas the dk+tank will just shrug it off and keep going. I think of riptide as a quick way to get +10% hp on a target as well as causing that target to receive 15% additional healing. for tidal waves stacks, I never want to cast healing surge without tidal waves active, but i'm not overly concerned with using up every tidal wave stack before using another riptide charge. I never use healing wave personally, i always opt for healing surge. Healing wave takes too long to cast and surge gets a 50% crit bonus from tidal waves. Healing surge crits very often when buffed with tidal waves and this restores some mana (through the resurgence talent). Sometimes people do dumb stuff and you can't save em, that's just part of the game. Especially in higher keys where healer checks often become checks you can only make if the dps uses their own personals as well.
Don't be afraid to try Farseer. It can deal with loose dpsers who take too much dmg easier than Totemic. Also, call defensives. If you aren't on voice with your premade group, make a macro for party chat to remind them to use a defensive before huge aoe. They'll learn eventually and make your life easier.
I am new to healing this season, so thank you for the video! Also, I am using ElvUI, and I would love to be able to see the riptide and earthliving buff on people's hp bars like in the video. Hoping someone in the comments might be able to help me :(
I'm trying to follow the advice of using the Master of Elements buffs to single target with Healing Surge more. In your video even in a high key the damage seems like single-target is the way to go. However, in the +6-8s I'm doing, the entire group is taking a ton of constant damage at the same time and this just isn't cutting it. I got flamed for low DPS and low HPS in a group yesterday when the 3 ranged refused to get in my healing rain and the only thing I could do between CDs was hardcasting chain heal just to keep people from dying (and I failed/ran out of mana). What's the solution for those groups?
Maintaining Riptides on everyone, esp the range, using surges to consume tidal waves stacks and probably running tidebringer for the increase chain heal range so your totems can cleave heal the ranged
Great! I play Totemic Main and its a blast. Currently done all 10 keys and progressing on 11's. My guild is at 3/8 mythic and prog on 4th which is getting there but we are not a world first mindset so we are just taking our time. Your setup made me update mine and it makes sense. Riptide really only serves to get tidal waves for Totemic so shifting away from that a little makes sense and having points elsewhere. Your shift from hard casting Chain heal and using 2 stream totems - Recall and then Totem again makes sense but I need to grind that mindset. I already try to prio tidal into surge. One point that in 11.0.5 chain heals that come from totems will originate from you. Does that mean tidal waves will effect totem made chain heals? People say its easy to pick up Totemic Resto but the skill ceiling is quite high. :D
once you get used to using totems for chain heal you'll feel so much better with mana in both M+ and Raid healing. I'm in the same spot you are with Mythic prog and once i started using healing stream totems instead of hard casting chain heal i was able to do not focus so much on mana consumption.
Hi @AutomaticJak, wanna say good video and easy to absorb! I still run into mana issues during Mythic Keys and trying to figure out what the 'best' basic rotation to be mana sustainable. Trying to riptide and use waves buffs but doesnt seem enough. Eating food whenever i can but sometimes i go flat 0% during boss fights like +9 DB for the 3 lieutanants and last boss. Im using alot of Chain Heals for my waves stacks after riptide, not sure if thats incorrect. Any other pro tips you can share?
my only question. How do you deal with the Root-adds on the last boss in Ara? Cap totem only works every other time. do you rely on the pug dps to save your life?
Coming from a returning player trying to piece efficiency together.. what do you use to cast your totems/healing rain quickly? Is it some type of macro? Or something enabled through a setting/addon?
@@AutomaticJak oh that’s even better! Sorry this all probably seems very basic, but I’m just returning after a long break. Maybe I wasn’t observant enough, so do you queue up the ape marker then click again to finish the cast?
Yep! I think groups are getting more used to what to stop and priest is crazy OP in necrotic wake for mind controlling the cleaver mob so I think it’ll be solidly S tier next to shaman
I much prefer Farseer. The single target burst healing is so much better. I find mana much easier to manage, overall HPS is the same if not better. Totemic is easier to play, but the single target healing, the mana management, the variety and versatility is all worse in my opinion. I will admit Totemic is a lot of fun, but you can't get a Healing Surge to 0-100 a Tank's HP like you can with Farseer. When I'm playing Farseer, I feel like I can get the ancestors to boost any heal or even dps spell I like, depending on what the situation needs. The freedom and adaptability are awesome.
I think explaining how wind rush can be used as a mass dispel, how totem positioning can allow you to avoid dispelling melee w poison totem if you desire and outlining how I utilize my abilities to help the group, not oom, and always have a tool to deal with every problem qualifies.
@@AutomaticJak Sorry for late answering. I got it tank u! :) One last thing what i can't turn of or make it smaller. For example: there is a rogue go on stealth and on his "cell" name there is a picture of stealth and so big. I can't see the life% etc. or for every buff we get too big u know and i can't see nothing. Hope u understand me, poor english :D how can i costumize that? :)
Im playing Totemic now already for a while, but there were some pretty good tips, like the Jet stream talent and the Shield buff in the Hero talents... Also some of the passives I was not aware of, like the Lava Burst passive buff you get tahnks a lot Jak !
I just feel it's wild that 93% are using totemic, I must play it wrong, I feel farseer has much better spot healing and with this season it's needed! I just don't feel totemic has as strong or shoot buttons other than the CDs farseer also has
I haven’t played all the healers every season, but I feel like blizz thinks about healer mana balance for 1/2 of the healers and the others are either totally dire or completely fire
Gem slots help for the mana % Ik it’s a shitty fix but I got 6 gems slots currently and run mana spring talent and it seems to helped a lot but if you mean specifically totemic they have to cap our casting cause if we could cast forever nobody would ever die
I picked up RestoShaman 2 weeks ago, got to 2640 rio with pugs. Still don't understand what is the problem with mana. I drink when I can (1-5 sec) and usually never get oom. Sometimes once in a dungeon I ask to drink for like 10 sec.
I copied off the chinese chaman's farseer talents and really can't go back to Totemic... Sure I lost huge dps income because I don't have all the healing rain's dps, but the ability to efficiently heal all allies's health instantly is just too awesome... And I believe that my 100k dps is less important than 100k dps on an actual dps and avoiding a 15s death penalty
spouting spirits casts another chain heal for anyone getting into shaman. which means spirit link totem is probably the best healing cooldown in the game in 5man content with this talented
Leveling priest atm. Thnx to you spamming dungeons with bubble build but not using so often. As for the Shaman. I play farseer. I am not good at totemic even if its easier. I am sure doing something wrong.
Always putting out great information, made me a better resto shammy. Thank you and keep up the amazing content sir!

u need to rotate cd and on third aoe of third boss SLT it's perfect for the overlap
Thank you Jak, just timed my first time 12. I wanted to get some fresh teachings ❤

Love a Farseer video
how do i get the party frames to look like that
In the description
was a few minutes from +2 on a 14 cot as Rsham and foor the first time in maybe 3 years, the game crashed
Disc priest stonks rising up on 11.05?
Yep! I think groups are getting more used to what to stop and priest is crazy OP in necrotic wake for mind controlling the cleaver mob so I think it’ll be solidly S tier next to shaman
Noooo i just changed to farseer and got used to my binds
I much prefer Farseer. The single target burst healing is so much better. I find mana much easier to manage, overall HPS is the same if not better. Totemic is easier to play, but the single target healing, the mana management, the variety and versatility is all worse in my opinion. I will admit Totemic is a lot of fun, but you can't get a Healing Surge to 0-100 a Tank's HP like you can with Farseer. When I'm playing Farseer, I feel like I can get the ancestors to boost any heal or even dps spell I like, depending on what the situation needs. The freedom and adaptability are awesome.
How is explaning talents and telling us to drink „advanced“ guide
I think explaining how wind rush can be used as a mass dispel, how totem positioning can allow you to avoid dispelling melee w poison totem if you desire and outlining how I utilize my abilities to help the group, not oom, and always have a tool to deal with every problem qualifies.
Is there a reason you have such high mastery and not a little more haste?
Just sub optimal rings/neck. Would prefer full crit/vers. Don’t care that much about haste
I just can’t setup my cell and ui like yours 😒 I imported from your website but not the same and saidly i don’t know how is it working
Did you check out the video on my website as well for setting it up?
@@AutomaticJak Sorry for late answering. I got it tank u! :)
One last thing what i can't turn of or make it smaller.
Also some of the passives I was not aware of, like the Lava Burst passive buff you get
tahnks a lot Jak !
You bet!
My tank I play with gets mad every time I use my earth elemental 😅
alright the like/subscribe request was well done. not that i hadnt anyway
I just feel it's wild that 93% are using totemic, I must play it wrong, I feel farseer has much better spot healing and with this season it's needed! I just don't feel totemic has as strong or shoot buttons other than the CDs farseer also has
it does, meta is there for the mass
How to get ur ui doesnt show on ur website
It does
Quite often my omnicd addon shows everyone's defensive is available the entire dungeon. It must be bugged right?? No way DPS are that useless
welllllllllllllll
Tried playing other healers, missed the kick too much
Interested in farseer since that's what I play
huuge tip for pct arakara
When we getting disc guide? (Normal build, not for fun one) 😂
It’s been up!
The current mana situation is ridiculous.
Not allowed to complain 😭😭
Imagine a resto shaman complaining about anything currently XD
I haven’t even been using surging totem. It’s too much mana
+11 farseer here /wave hello all ^^. I didn't realize 97% are totemics lol. That's crazy.
make one video on every heal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More coming sooon
Dang yes boss TY!!
Totem shaman guide = People are taking damage press totem, people are taking a lot of damage press another totem, people are dying blame the tank.
People are dying: blame them for not pressing defensives and healing pots.
I bin a woschechter Bayer!
Toe-temique is a better name now 😂
not using cursormacros is wild
just cast chain heal and spam your totem projection! flame shock when you can and lava burst on proc... its not that hard lol!
I copied off the chinese chaman's farseer talents and really can't go back to Totemic... Sure I lost huge dps income because I don't have all the healing rain's dps, but the ability to efficiently heal all allies's health instantly is just too awesome... And I believe that my 100k dps is less important than 100k dps on an actual dps and avoiding a 15s death penalty
spouting spirits casts another chain heal for anyone getting into shaman. which means spirit link totem is probably the best healing cooldown in the game in 5man content with this talented
do you mean the Spirit Link casts a chain heal (from hero talent), and after 1s the Spouting Spirits procs another Chain Heal?
@@JaydeeDJ yes, if talented it will cast 2 chain heals and the spout heal itself, as well as ofcourse the health change and damage reduction
@@Imorteus oh cool, did not know that
yo can i get your name plate profile? (:
In the description!
@@AutomaticJak i was honestly looking for it in the description and i just ignored the UI website for some reason! oof.
rDruid guide never coming is it? Not until it becomes meta I guess..
Probably not since it's barely worth playing ATM. The best druid guide is play another healer.
Leveling priest atm. Thnx to you spamming dungeons with bubble build but not using so often.
As for the Shaman. I play farseer. I am not good at totemic even if its easier. I am sure doing something wrong.
