I think you should still run unleash life with totemic. Your surging totem damage goes from 5 targets to 7 = more damage in aoe in addition to more healing
@@TheGoatLocker There just aren't enough pulls this season that'll be more than 3-4 often enough to get value. I think totemics that run undulation can expect more mana efficient value
Hey Madskill, thanks for the great video and for creating such a detailed Resto Shaman Mythic+ guide! Your insights have been super helpful, and I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into breaking everything down. I’d love to understand more about the Farseer window with the 2 ancestor up as well. Thanks again for sharing your content and helping the community!
Went looking for a war within resto shaman guide last night after not having touched it for a few years. Was shocked you didn't have one out and the other peoples videos weren't very engaging. So glad I checked again today to find this. Great work
Video was really good. Blizzard really did a nice job with rsham, loving the interaction with lava burst + master of the elements + riptide/tidal waves. Build variety is great in m+ and raid
so i have two main heal, shaman and druid, im healed mythic raids and 20+ keys so far previous leagues. but im main shamy now. i like farseer and healing rain stile but that is just so much button so much, and after i thought ye give a trie to totemic, and yes this is my play stile in war within. is so much easyer for me, fever buttons and incredeble healing output. love it. thanks the video aniway and the tipps and tricks.
Great video. In particular, I appreciate the bit where you talk about potentially dropping Primordial Wave if you don't enjoy it, or don't use it. I've found myself not using it often, same for Unleash Weapon when I'm running Totemic, and feel even that change alone has helped relieve some of the bloat I feel on my end, and some choice paralysis in the heat of the moment.
Coming back to shaman after playing Evoker in dragonflight. Wildly different play style than in Shadowlands. This video is super helpful and it's really going to help in building an offspec healing build. I really like the throw hots on everyone and dps playstyle Preservation has, so it seems like totemic is more the way for me to go. Thanks so much for doing all the work!
Unleash life into pwave into ancestral swiftness into a healing wave. You get a pwave cleave plus dual surges, then can follow up with surge spam as needed
Love the guide thank you! I would love to see an in-depth guide for Farseer. I’m sometimes struggling with what to press when. When do I use Ascendance or Any other combo. What cooldowns combo nice together ect. Thanks again and looking forward to seeing more.
The most flexible and powerful talent builds for me (regardless of hero talent selection) always include the talents that make Healing Tide Totem and Ascendance into 2 min CDs. You can control your throughput pacing really well bouncing between them, and I like to macro Ancestral Guidance into both of them so they automatically get that extra punch, I don't have to think about AG (even though macroing it isn't the most efficient use, surely), and it frees up a keybind. Those things alone boost my personal play a lot. But basically for Farseer you keep the party blanketed in Riptides and now you have an extra mini-CD with Primordial Wave. It seems weak but when you use Ancestral Swiftness and Unleash Life (and/or have Undulation) before that cleaving Healing Wave it's very efficient and has weird perks like affecting people regardless of range and i think sight too (someone correct me if i'm wrong pls). Another major part of Farseer is your Tidal Waves buff you get from Riptide stacks to 4 instead of just 2... and the tier set benefits Tidal Waves as well, so you want to always be spending all your Tidal Waves buff stacks.
You had me sucked in for the farseer windows!! I will defnitely be experimenting with this, there is huge potential with this kind of stuff for skill expression and really pushing the envelope of what is possible in healing and healer dps keys. I would love a pvp guide for rsham if you have any exp! Going to attempt for the first season to go for some higher ranks and want to do it as shaman
Both Totemic and Farseer are really solid. I find myself running Totemic more just for the ease and simplicity, but I can see myself going down the Farseer route when pushing keys.
it is only me that running OOM in heroic dungeons on totemic? just spamming everything that I have so my party wont die. I was in Dawnbreaker, and it was awful to heal as a resto shammy. OOM, everytime casting, a lot of mana spent on heal and their bars were almost to 70-80% all the time. Couldn't do a single lava burst...
Its really hard atm with every immortal tank pulling countless packs and add in any melee dps that are also apparently immortal pulling extra shit, standing in everything and not possessing any form of defensive cooldown.
@@allan293-f8cI don’t think I ever came close to running out of mana. Sometimes you have to recognize that your hots will top people and not burn mana. You have earth shield, healing rain, riptide, and healing stream totem doing a lot of the heavy lifting and each time you drop a totem u are getting a free chain heal. Can use healing wave instead of surge for more mana efficient spot healing when necessary. Using cds efficiently is typically the biggest thing though.
I'm loving playing rest shaman. It's a lot of fun. Would love to hear what you think of the changes that blizz is making to holy paladin. Seems like the are addressing a lot of the issues it was having.
dude this video was a game changer for my healing on the shaman , one question tho . with totemic mana seems to be a issue , which i havnt had with my other healers . Skill issue ? or is it just how the build is .
Could you see swapping Primordial wave for mana spring totem in a totemic build, since mana spring can proc the free chain heal also? Great guide video Madd.
The other rsham in my guild swears by totemic, meanwhile I love farseer. Totemic was fun but i found myself ooming so quick, meanwhile as farseer i never drop below 90%
@@jennastarnes5377 for the most part Totemic can be costly because you're using chain heal and occasionally or accidentally use it without the buff that reduces it's cost. Farseer is casting a lot of riptide which is very mana efficient and unless it's a niche talent version of it, it's not using chain heal at all or near as much.
@@jennastarnes5377 The spell that healign rain gets replaced with in totemic costs around 10% of your base mana, with a 15 second cd its very easy to oom yourself
At the moment I'm 601 ilvl playing a surge healing talents without primordial wave. I'm hitting 2m when the surge crit and believe me the mana is not being a lot of problem unless u really chain pull something that was not supose to. Is like playing holy priest and druid at the same time having 3 riptides and healing only single with surge.
Personally I mostly PUG and don't push super high keys, I switch downpour for earthern harmony. A lot of times I don't get much value out of my healing rain anyway because people, especially in caster heavy groups, just don't stand in the healing rain anyway.
I started with totemic but I just kept running OOM, maybe had to drink 2-3x a dungeon, but it was really fun so was hesitant to do farseer. Finally started and I'm liking it too, it's much easier, I never run OOM and people live, but yea AOE not that great.
Hey Mads, Another great video! With Farseer we have access to so many riptides, so do you think the node with ancestral reach could be swap and take the other one (qi forgot the name but the one that consume riptide and buff the Chain Hela by 30%)

How're you managing mana? I'm enjoying resto shaman, but the biggest issue i continue running into is running low on mana. Healing Surge drains a lot of my mana, it feels like. Idk bro I’ve never seen a high rated rsham run healing stream ever. We struggle with burst healing still. Cloudburst is the only real viable option we have. Cloudburst is just a skill based totem, but I don’t think hst will ever outperform it. Just my opinion, I’ve never hit rank 1 but I’m usually above 3k
