Hi again Ian. What a beautiful bike, and part of the world! It was a pleasure to meet Scorpio in the flesh this week. Looking forward to your many adventures over the coming weeks and months. All the best, Paul.
Awesome Ian, so chuffed to hear you’ve got yourself a Guerrilla, your enthusiasm for the bike was contagious 🍾🎉 Love hearing you sharing the experience of the ‘running in challenges’ which pretty much amount to trying to tame a wild animal and stopping it charging off to play! 😂😂 Beautiful location to take Scorpio out to for its first ride. Enjoy and look forward to continuing the sharing of experiences 😀👍🏻
Thanks Dave. It was inevitable that I would get one…..no other bike has had that effect on me for years. Yes, trying to restrain Scorpio isn’t easy 😂😂. I don’t mind going over the 4K occasionally, especially if I need to get up a hill, as I don’t want to lug it, that would do more harm than good. We will be exchanging notes 😂
A well deserved purchase, So pleased for you Ian. Cant wait for you to run it in, and then the Guerrilla will be awsome. Glad to hear Clemantime is still with you Enjoy those roads, Ride safe, Bfn Mike , Sunny Wales.

Smashing video, bike sounds really sporty and I completely understand your desire. Welcome Scorpio ! Donald Campbell used Ullswater for his water speed record in 1955 in Bluebird K7 - 202mph. Some sight and sound at such a tranquil location.

Congratulations Ian, well done mate.👍 it won't take long to rack up those 300 miles before the first service. The difference that extra 2,000 rpm makes is phenomenal. At 6,000 in top gear it's pulling 75mph which is more than enough but also it allows for much easier overtakes with the extra revs on hand to stretch its legs. I've also found that the engine has loosened up and isn't quite so prone to bogging down. Where have you managed to source a cover from to stop the speedo glare/reflection.🤔👍
Morning Jonathan, thank you. I hope to be out again today, adding a few more miles. I was talking to a chap at Ullswater (BMW rider), who suggested having a look at Speedo Angels. They are an adhesive film (best way I can describe it), which you stick onto your speedo. A bit like those you get for mobile phones. Speedo Angels do two types, one clear to protect the speedo face, the other has a matt finish, which is supposed to reduce glare. I ordered one last night, which will hopefully be here Monday. I will of course report back, when I have ridden in sunshine again. I thought at £10.99 it was worth a try. Listed for the Himi 450, so as they look to be the same speedo, it should fit ok.
Great video and bike Ian and a beautiful ride out lucky with the weather too that bike is slowly getting under my skin and in that colour is beautiful it’s now gone above the scrambler 400 and the speedmaster to save the extra money I think in early 2025 there will be one of the guerillas same colour as yours come to me love it take care ride safe mate
@@ianhughesroyalenfield yes Ian just a little yellow is enough I think that black and red also goes well together and I just love the look of the bike very nice take care
Brilliant, thank you for the advice, they had a black one in stock on Saturday, not in showroom tho, so didn't see, but I fancied the yellow, but now, not sure lol, that black and red looks amazing. It won't be long 🤣👌
When I took the demo out, I really liked the yellow, but when I went to buy it, the black was in the window, and just popped. Right decision for me 😎 Keep me in the loop 😉
Deffo will. I live in Wales, so dramatic rolling mountain roads, stunning scenery, just like your place I think! Ever heard of Gospel Pass? This bike was built for such lol 🤣
I have heard of it Ian, though not been on it yet. My family are from the Dolgellau/Bontddu area, my parents moved to Cheshire for work. If you look through my back catalogue, there are a fair few vids from Wales. We make an annual pilgrimage to Barmouth each October (I was lucky with the weather last year, 3 vids including up Cader Road 😉), and we go to Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant for a month Jan/Feb, and take the bike with us there too. Scorpio will be coming with us this year, as I will be putting my Classic 350 into hibernation.
@ianjames3218 the annual pilgrimage, is to the touring park we were Assistant Wardens at in Barmouth, Hendre Mynach. We were there for two years. Yes, very familiar with the Welsh roads 😎 cheers
That was a great ride Ian! And a lovely surprise at the end ! Love the bike. Must have a go on that route it looks a winner. 👍 👍s up from me 😊 Many thanks
I was guilty of being a tease Ken, but thought it would be a fun way to reveal the new addition 😂. The Kirkstone Pass is stunning whatever the weather, though obviously better in sunshine 🌞 thank you.
Congratulations nice choice, I had a test ride on a guerrilla 2 weeks ago, loved it, got a test ride on a speed 400 tomorrow. Look forward to following your adventures on Scorpio 👍
Thanks Malcom, both very good bikes. It will be interesting to see what you think of the speed 400. I did like it, just not as much as the Guerrilla. Cheers
Royal Enfield bike - Lakeland roads? What's not to like?? Not tried one yet Ian, but the obvious rideability of the Guerrilla is indeed impressive. Nice one again cheers.
Oh Ian you just reignited my post holiday blues, I was on this road last week on my Thunderbird and this week I'm back at work after a fantastic week in the lakes. Just started editing all the video I took. That looks a great little bike for those roads as a solo machine I'd like to take the Triumph 400 over there to see what that's like.
Thanks Richard……it was inevitable….. in that long review video, when I said at 12 minutes and 44 seconds “I need one of these in my life”, I meant it 😂 Cheers
After watching your last vid, i really fancy one. Went to see onevin the flesh but not test ridden yet massive congratulations on your new baby. Silly question time, can you get top box for them? And small screen maybe???? Deffo fancy this over the triumph 400. Cheers Ian
Many thanks Ian. Not a silly question, I haven’t seen anything in the UK yet, but there are one or two racks starting to show up in India. It won’t be long till Hitchcock’s motorcycles or TEC bike parts will start producing things though. One thought, is that as the Himalayan 450 and Guerrilla 450 were designed alongside each other, some parts from the Himi might fit. The rear handrails on the Guerrilla look very similar to those on the Himi where the standard rack fits, but careful measurements will be needed to prove this. If you were to go down the India route, there is a chap called Raju Lax (can be found by fb messenger), who has a very good reputation for sourcing parts and despatching worldwide. I think, as new owners, we do need to be a bit patient regarding accessories availability here in the uk, as it does take a while for them to filter through. Hope this helps.
😂Awesome ! It made me wonder a bit Ian when you said about moving the gear shift a notch (on a loaner ) brilliant news mate pleased for ya well done you and it looks fab great ride , always nice around the lakes and new tarmac without those crappy loose chippings that's nice to see they've done it properly (until they dig it up)😉 👌👍
Thanks Mal. Yes that was a slip, I had to really concentrate on not giving the game away 😂. What was worse though, I recorded a ride before this one (on the way there), to show at a later date. In that, I talk like you had already seen a few vids on Scorpio, then when I started this one, I had to go back a step 🫣😂 My brain was mashed 😂. I really do hope they sort the Windermere side of the pass. Cheers
Thanks Robert. You get a mention in an upcoming video, probably a few weeks off 🫣😂. I will let you into a secret, that day we had a chat, I was doing the deal on Scorpio 😉😂. Have you been out on the BSA yet ?
I've not been out on the BSA as I've decided against it. I think the Guerrilla would be better for me. I went out on my Scram for a long ride yesterday, just to make sure I'm doing the right thing.
Well done Ian! I took out one in the same colour and found like you that it is a fantastic little bike. Very close to putting in an order...just comparing to a couple of other bikes to make sure. At the price and in the 400-450 cc range, I think it's the best.
A good choice of colour and a great bike..👍👍 I enjoyed that ride. Even the caravan was batting on a bit once it was able to pass the ruddy cyclists😁😁. As the Guerilla fits in the van, Clementine's days could be numbered..... 😮😮
Hi Ian, I’ve bought one in playa black also. I’ve done 900 miles on it, I love it apart from the front suspension which I find diabolical. It crashes over bumps and on single track roads with the light fly by wire throttle it’s hard to be smooth. Rear suspension is fine. I’m going to have to find out about some upgrades. I’ll let you know how I get on. Cheers Brenden 😊
Please do Brenden, always good to know what upgrades owners are doing. Maybe it’s because all is still new to me, but even after riding some rough roads myself, I haven’t found the front end to be that bad. I have no doubt TEC bike parts and the likes will have upgrades available at some point 👍
Congratulations on acquiring Scorpio & credit to you for putting your money where your mouth is, after such a positive review you did a short while back. Nice one 👍
Well done Ian, it was never in doubt but I didn't expect it to happen so soon! Look after your remaining organs and make sure you keep your hooligan under control, he's definitely itching to get out 👹
I got to try the new 450 himilayan here in the states, the guerilla 450 aint here yet. Man i was suprised it loved it. I couldnt believe how good the bike was and I loved ripping the little single cylinder motor. It was peppy and characterful and the bike was well sorted and full of neat features for under $6k!!! Absolutely stunning I cant wait for the guerilla wich is more my style though.
To me, the gearing on the Guerrilla makes it more peppy if you know what I mean. More aggressive power delivery….. did you see my review , the short version with just the fun bits ? It really is a cracking motorcycle.
I take it you liked my little wheeze Andy 😂, couldn’t resist. Everyone does a new bike reveal at the start of a video, thought I would mix it up a bit 😎 Yes, Playa Black caught my eye when it was first released, so went for it. Glad I did, it really pops in the sunshine. Cheers
Will definitely be changing one or two parts as and when they become available. The first things will be adjustable handlebar levers, as the original ones are quite a stretch for my small, arthritic hands. Can’t see them listed yet though. Cheers 👌
Well I was there just the other day 😉 now I’m going to take over that lay-by from you 😝 I’m thinking of selling my Honda ADV350 scooter over the winter and the front runners so far for a change is the new Himalayan or maybe the Guerrilla, so we’ll see, lovely ride out Ian, I think you’ll be buying this bike 🤔
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Ha ! I did post before the end, I knew you’d get one so congratulations 🥳 as for the Honda ADV it does everything perfectly but it’s just not tugging at my heartstrings if you know what I mean, I have all winter to decide now, looking forward to seeing you out on the Guerrilla, you’ll be keeping Clementine ?
😂, I guessed that’s what you did, I often do the same 😂. Clementine is safe, she won’t get ridden in iffy conditions, and will be put into hibernation in winter. Decisions decisions, good luck 🫣
Hey Ian, if you spend anymore time on that Guerrilla saddle you may have to be surgically removed 😁. I've had mine (in Playa Black) for just over 2 weeks now and I've got about 700 miles on it. I did the first (300 mile) service last week, all quite straight forward so now I can take it up to 6000 rpm. To be honest though, I've only come close to 6000 rpm a couple of times. For the roads you and I like to ride, the bike delivers all you need between 3000 and 6000 rpm. I think it's a great 'riders' bike, the fuelling is a bit quirky at low revs so IMO not really a town bike (unlike the Hunter) but I'm getting used to it now and love it, a truly visceral experience ...... and it's so sure footed even on rough road surfaces!! I've just got to the bit of your video where you've revealed your new purchase ........ CONGRATULATIONS ...... 😁😁👍👍Enjoy, Phil (Somerset)
Hi Phil, thank you. The seat is comfortable enough to stay on it for long periods, so surgically removing may just be required 😂. I am looking forward to getting that first service done, the Guerrilla really doesn’t like being at 4K revs, so I have been creeping just over, and it’s fine. Yes, 6000 revs will be great, as you say, just playing with the torque between 3 and 6. Bloody brilliant, the tyres got quite hot on this ride. I will have made another 4 vids from yesterday’s ride…….peeps will be getting fed up 🫣😂 Thanks for your input 👍
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Yes, the seat is quite comfy, I can manage 2 hours or more without the need for a break. The vibes some people talk about are there sometimes but not really worthy of negative comments. Keep those Guerrilla videos coming thick and fast ....... I can't get enough 👍👍
Thanks Phil. I have a few vids waiting, there will be two a week for a while. Really just continuations of rides. Like making 3 from today, but they would be way too long if I made it one video. I can feel a bit of a tingle through the footpegs occasionally, usually when I am not quite in the right gear. I moved the gear lever up, now perfect for me. Have ordered a Speedo Angel matt anti glare tft cover (listed for the Himi 450 but pretty sure they are identical) to hopefully stop being blinded on the odd occasion the sun is out 😳. Meanwhile, I bloody love it.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield That tingle on the footpegs is definitely related to rpm but, I find that if my boot is sat squarely on the rubber inset, there's no vibe at all. Besides, when you're hooning around the twisties and going up and down that silky smooth box, I don't notice it at all. I love rev matching down the box, coming into a corner ....... she crackles and pops like giant 'Rice Crispies' 😁 The weather has turned a bit crap down here so haven't been out hooning for a couple of days ....... I'll have to sit back and enjoy one of your Guerrilla videos 👍☺
On the roads you love. Glorious Sunshine, on THE BIKE you LUSTED after for weeks! You Lucky Boy, but you Missed out on the bargain clearance of the Snot Green crash bars, just goes to show you can't have everything! Cheers, DINO, PANDA, and MUTLEYS.
Thanks guys…..I think you know how thrilled I am 🤩. Scorpio is such a dream to ride on these roads (even running in)…the Cheshire roads (my test track) are ok, but nothing compared to these 😎
Given that this and the Speed 400 both put out about 40bhp, is this one worth it given the extra road tax every year for the 450cc engine? Great scenery; years since I went to the Lakes but when we went in my teens I directed my parents straight up Kirkstone as we were staying near Penrith and they wanted to see Windermere and Grasmere. Taking an 80s family car up the Struggle, that was fun.
😂 I bet it was fun 😂. As for the extra in tax, yes, to me it is worth it. The Speed just didn’t do it for me as the Guerrilla did, and sometimes you have to go with your heart. 😎
Morning Julian……I haven’t got a garage 😂😂. Don’t worry, after I have run Scorpio in, hopefully both bikes will get equal road time, except when it’s winter salt time. Clementine will be going into hibernation then. Cheers
Well John….at the end of this video, I announce that this Guerrilla 450 is mine, so my answer will be biased. What suits me, may not suit others though, so it’s not an easy question to answer. The Triumph is a good bike, but not one for me. Others love it though ! I know this doesn’t really answer you question, but it’s the best I can do 😉 Cheers
@@ianhughesroyalenfield I haven't seen a Guerrilla up close yet, but I think my main issue is the finish Triumph looks classy, Guerrilla paint jobs make them look like kids monkey bikes think on that reason alone I would find it hard to live with one
The bike looks nice, but the gap between the forks and frame is a bit ugly. I would spend the same money on a low milage second hand ducati 800cc scrambler.
I ride a Moto Guzzi V7 (2022 plate Ian) I have just seen My 1st Enfield Guerrilla 450 at the west End Cafe, Llandovery last week same colour looked great! If Enfield had released the Hymie or the Guerrilla or CF Moto with their 450, I would have or might have, made a different choice a year earlier, but I am happy with the V7. Went to do the Kirkstone Pass a few years ago, missed out due to road maintenance or pot hole rebuilding 🤣🤣The last time I went on the ferry was in the late 1970's on a Suzuki X7, yes a very long time ago when I lived in East Anglia. I had typed my comments before you finished the layby stop but GREAT CHOOSE love it!
Thank you. The Guzzi V7 is a good bike, though I haven’t ridden one. In fact the only Guzzi I have ridden, was a MK1 Le Mans back in the 80’s 😂. As for the Kirkstone closures. They were a real pain for everyone, though I guess the works needed to be done. If you Google it, they did some major works on culvert and walling repairs, plus the wood covered Armco. Hopefully you will have a look at tomorrow’s release, the ride back over 😉. That was a good trip on a X7, respect ✊😉
Just had a look on eBay, (which I did last time you left a similar comment) . The cheapest Ducati scrambler 400 I could find, is a 2017 (not exactly almost new), with 5284 miles at £3795. A 2019 (5 yr old) Ducati Scrambler 400 with 6100 miles on the clock is £4690. A 2022 Ducati Scrambler 800 with 3352 miles is £6795. Don’t know where you are getting your prices from ! Besides which, the service cost on the Ducati will be more expensive, plus the dreaded belt change. Also, something to consider, not everyone likes modern Ducati motorcycles, me included. Cheers
Congratulations Ian. Loving Scorpio. Wishing you many happy miles & smiles! 👍
Thanks John…..certainly makes me smile 😊

@@ianhughesroyalenfield yes Ian just a little yellow is enough I think that black and red also goes well together and I just love the look of the bike very nice take care
Thanks you.
Good choice. I'm getting one in two weeks. Same Playa Black- Dash. Congrats. Good ride and views. Happy riding with Scorpio.
Thank you, I bet you are counting the days 😉😎
Wow, so you used to roads. Love idea of annual pilgrimage 👍👍
@ianjames3218 the annual pilgrimage, is to the touring park we were Assistant Wardens at in Barmouth, Hendre Mynach. We were there for two years. Yes, very familiar with the Welsh roads 😎 cheers
Congratulations Ian…you kept that quiet for 27 minutes…lol. Great choice, and you know what, it had to be done😃👍
Thank you HH, it was really difficult not to let it slip earlier on 😂 Definitely had to be done 😎
@@ianhughesroyalenfield haha, you did well concealing it…it definitely added a punch at the end😀👍
Thank you.
look forward to many videos on your new bike!
Thanks Martin, much appreciated.
Congratulations on your new purchase, I got my new bike delivered yesterday and I'm chuffed too 😀
Congratulations on your new bike too 🥳
Congratulations nice choice, I had a test ride on a guerrilla 2 weeks ago, loved it, got a test ride on a speed 400 tomorrow. Look forward to following your adventures on Scorpio 👍
Thanks Malcom, both very good bikes. It will be interesting to see what you think of the speed 400. I did like it, just not as much as the Guerrilla. Cheers
@@ianhughesroyalenfield thanks Ian, I'll let you know how it goes.
Royal Enfield bike - Lakeland roads? What's not to like??
Not tried one yet Ian, but the obvious rideability of the Guerrilla is indeed impressive. Nice one again cheers.
Thanks Martin. You might just enjoy the next two then 😎
I'm sure I will Ian. Congrats on becoming the new owner btw, I put my comment in before the end of the soddin video! duh!!
@martintraffordmoorlandbike7121 😂 I do that too.
I imagine it will be pretty similar to be honest. Cheers
Congratulations! So glad you got one!
Cheers, so am I 😂😎
Loving that colour scheme..
Nice bike.
Thank you 👍
Great bike and fantastic route.
I guessed the ending though 😊
Thought navigation was built in
Yes it is Andrew, but I haven’t studied that bit yet 😂.
Happy new bike day! I knew you would!
Had to be done Steven 😎 thank you
I knew you bought it once you mentioned moving the gear lever up a notch. LOL
😂, yes,slipped up there 😂 cheers
Nice one When I watched the first ride video I thought you're going to have one😂😂
Cheers
Ian
Cheers
@@ianhughesroyalenfield 🤣brilliant 👍
Congratulations, Scorpio looks fantastic.
I think you are along the right lines. Can you email me at some point, my address is in my description thingy.
Well done Ian! I took out one in the same colour and found like you that it is a fantastic little bike. Very close to putting in an order...just comparing to a couple of other bikes to make sure. At the price and in the 400-450 cc range, I think it's the best.
Thanks Lee, you definitely need to ride others just to make sure, but I think you will come back to the Guerrilla….but I might be biased 😂
A good choice of colour and a great bike..👍👍 I enjoyed that ride. Even the caravan was batting on a bit once it was able to pass the ruddy cyclists😁😁. As the Guerilla fits in the van, Clementine's days could be numbered..... 😮😮
Morning Gap, thank you. Clementine is safe. Though this year she will be going into hibernation during winter, no more salty roads for her 😉
You're right about the caravan, I think he forgot he was towing it !
Yes, he was going for it a bit, man after my own heart 😂
Hi Ian, I’ve bought one in playa black also.
I’ve done 900 miles on it, I love it apart from the front suspension which I find diabolical. It crashes over bumps and on single track roads with the light fly by wire throttle it’s hard to be smooth.
Rear suspension is fine. I’m going to have to find out about some upgrades. I’ll let you know how I get on.
Cheers
Brenden 😊
Please do Brenden, always good to know what upgrades owners are doing. Maybe it’s because all is still new to me, but even after riding some rough roads myself, I haven’t found the front end to be that bad. I have no doubt TEC bike parts and the likes will have upgrades available at some point 👍
Congratulations on acquiring Scorpio & credit to you for putting your money where your mouth is, after such a positive review you did a short while back. Nice one 👍
Thanks Martin…..the Guerrilla really did grab me that much , had to be done. 😎
Well done Ian, it was never in doubt but I didn't expect it to happen so soon! Look after your remaining organs and make sure you keep your hooligan under control, he's definitely itching to get out 👹
😂 thanks Mick. It was inevitable, thankfully my bank likes me 😎
Happy new bike. 👍😀
Thank you.
I'm well chuffed for you, ya crafty sod! And went for the black . Noice.😋
Cheers
❤ Would like to see different mods on the bike in due course of time
Will definitely be changing one or two parts as and when they become available.
Morning Adrian, did you watch to the very end ? 🫣😉😂. I am surprised you are thinking of selling the ADV, you are really fond of it.
Happy new bike blud. I was fancying one myself but as you know I chickened out and went for the Honda. We will have to have a race one day fam!
Thanks Kev…my racing days are over…he says tongue in cheek 😂
Funnily enough Phil, we watch my vids when it’s raining too 😂. Just from my test ride, I could see the Hooning potential, can’t bloody wait 😂 Cheers
Nice bike. Think I'd spray the exhaust black but otherwise it's a get on and go.
Funnily enough, I really like the exhaust as it is…….wouldn’t do for us all to have the same taste though 😉 Cheers
Hi Ian you'll never have any money 💰 😂well done enjoy the bike Keith n Lynne
What I haven’t had, I’ll never miss Keith 😂 Thanks both.
That looks gorgeous in black, if it was mine I think I'd want a black silencer too (can you get them in black )?
Thanks Terry. Not as yet, but I have no doubt, given time, something will be available, all be it from India.
Evening Ian 👍 are you running it in for 😊
Yes, 300 miles James 😳🫣😂
My local roads 🌞
You are lucky 👍
Lovely bike, I’ve just had a Shotgun after passing my test. If I could have had a test ride I might well have gone with one of these.
Nothing wrong with the shotgun, a great first bike to hone your skills on 👍
🤔 l wonder which bike will be gathering the most dust in the garage 😊
Morning Julian……I haven’t got a garage 😂😂. Don’t worry, after I have run Scorpio in, hopefully both bikes will get equal road time, except when it’s winter salt time. Clementine will be going into hibernation then. Cheers
@@ianhughesroyalenfield be sure to use cold water
Which do you think is the better allround bike, Triumph 400 or Royal Enfield 450 ?
Congratulations Ian and welcome Scorpio. Did you have to sell your left or right kidney?🤣
Thanks Paul…..fortunately I found another way 😂
The bike looks nice, but the gap between the forks and frame is a bit ugly.
I would spend the same money on a low milage second hand ducati 800cc scrambler.
Fair enough !
Sneaky info at the end .. Happy and save miles.
😂 thanks Stefan……it was inevitable though 😉😎
Correct 😂
Also a Ducati scrambler 400 is only about three and a half grand almost new. Awesome vids by the way.
Cheers
Great video x
Thank you x
