      You could get an actual Ducati scrambler for about the same money, ,not brand new but less than 1000 miles on the clock.

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  2 місяці тому

      It’s not always just about the purchase price though, servicing costs on the Ducati would be much more expensive than a Royal Enfield.

      @ianhughesroyalenfield  2 місяці тому

      @smallbikesrool9581 out of curiosity, I had a look on Autotrader….do you mean the Scrambler 400 ? Not something I have seen, but can’t find one newer than 2019, and that has over 6000 miles, and still priced at £4690. I know which I would buy, and it isn’t the Ducati 😉

    So, Ian, I've watched a couple of other videos about the Guerrilla, with a slightly jaundiced eye, I admit, because I love my air-cooled Classic 350, and I'm just slightly uncomfortable with the thought of RE moving into water-cooled territory - perhaps modernizing a bit too much, ya know? Still... Even though the engine, radiator, and exhaust on this bike look ugly (to my eye), your effusive, unbridled joy expressed while riding it makes me think that I should add one to the shed when it is available here in the USA. No other review that I've watched had me thinking like that. Thusly, Royal Enfield should spot you one. I would bet that you've sold more than a few of them for them with that review. Thank you for the video!

      Thanks for this lovely comment. Roger from the shop, rang me yesterday, to say that the uk marketing team had watched my video on the office television, and thought it was really good, so much so, they contacted him………they haven’t contacted me yet to have a “long term” demo bike, which is a shame 🙄. I think the manufacturers only work with creators who have 10k plus subscribers, though I think they are missing a trick, as those guys only ride them a couple of times and produce a couple of vids at the most. Hey-ho, I will just keep doing what I’m doing. Thank you.

    A right wee hooligan bike I think. Reminds me of my '76 RD400. Pushing late 60s now. Maybe the bike to finish my two wheeled career. NC starting to feel a bit heavy now. But I do love it. Great review.

At the price, buy the Guerrilla as a stablemate, and ween yourself off the NC 😂

    looks like you had a great time Ian! Love the hidden dip 😳 - Uncle Stu would not approve of you having such fun, although I thought I heard a Stu-ism "but you can make use of it all" 😝😉. I have to say, purely circumstantially but none the less it's what I've seen, most RE owners are at the upper echelons of the age spectrum reliving their and their fathers youth. Different case in their domestic market perhaps.

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  3 місяці тому

      Thanks ice. The camera really doesn’t show the severity of the hidden dip. When I rode the Himi 450 (2nd video), I forgot it was there, which made me giggle as I went over it a bit quick 😂. Couldn’t really tell you if uncle Stu came out with that, as I have pretty much stopped watching the self important p***k ! Yes, most of us RE owners have been round the clock a bit, but I think this would attract a younger rider, especially in India, but as you know, it is too much of a pain in the rear (and wallet) for many of our youth’s to be bothered over here sadly. That was fun! I have always admired the Husqvana Svartpilen 401, but I think that the R.E. Guerrilla might be my new favourite single. I definitely approve of the sound, with the stock exhaust. The Guerilla seems great apart form possibly burning a bit of diesel apparently. Let's face it, we don't need to be going any faster around the lanes.

      Definitely Chris, and definitely get on one. Proper old school riding really suits the revvy, (but vibe free) character of the engine. There should be a section in the instructions that say…..”before entering a bend, knock it down a gear or two, scratch the foot pegs, and power out” 😎😂 just as we did back in the day. I guess it depends what their expectations are. It’s a 450cc liquid cooled single weighing in at 189kgs (ish). I know I was just cruising at 70mph on the motorway in the video, but I did whip it up to about 85mph on the section I edited out, it is also rock stable at those speeds. It’s fun in the twisties, copes with faster moving traffic, like no other Enfield has (with the exception of the Himi 450). Handles superbly considering our awful roads. Has a comfortable riding position and seat. Nothing not to like or be underwhelmed about I my humble opinion. 😉

    Seems to make s good noise and you seem to enjoy the feel of the bike, how do you rate the fuel capacity? The single offset clock offends my desire for symetry it would be fab with a pair of round screens one could be a sat nav trip computer with a nice screen of a good size would float my boat and of course any true northerner wants to know the mpg given thevtank is on the smaller side.

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  3 місяці тому

      Calculating from figures given by RE on Google search, I reckon, estimating a bit under what they claim, about 192 miles per tank. Not great, but we are fortunate enough to have a few petrol stations scattered about. Just need to brim it every time to maximise it. Yes the off set clock used to bug me too, but not so much anymore. The base model has an analog speedo, with tripper next to it (unsure if that is a standard fitment though, so don’t quote me on it). The dealer, Roger, has said I can take it out again, all day if needed, so will probably have a look at the mpg then. 👍 Though like I said in the video, it doesn’t bother me, after about 100 miles my knackered body is ready for a break, so a petrol station would be the ideal place 😉

Perhaps have a look on a Facebook (or similar) group and ask the question. Rear racks and pannier brackets aren’t available yet here in the uk, though some owners are buying from India. If pushed for an answer, you can tour on anything, but I would suggest there are better bikes out there for the job. Even the Himalayan 450, which shares the same engine and other components, but the ecu is mapped differently……obviously the Himi 450 stands taller, so if I was you, I would take a test ride on both, preferably two up, to give you an idea. If they could get a sneaky way of disguising the liquid cooling (better than the BSA) maybe they could make a 450 cc Classic? Or, if they kept it air-cooled, even a 525cc old-school engine for a classic? It would be a fast bike, but a rider could ‘step on-it’ so to speak, and pass a lorry blocking a lane on a hill with confidence.

      Hi Phil, I tried not to make it too obvious, but failed miserably 😂. I thought the Himi 450 was great, but preferred everything about the Guerrilla. The power delivery/grunt was more apparent, possibly down to the different gearing due to the smaller wheels and different sprockets. Whatever it is, it makes the Guerrilla so much fun. Still need to make sure you are in the right gear going into the bend then power out. Proper old school riding, as opposed to just leaving it in one gear…….damn it was good. Thanks. It was long because it was a long ride. Mainly because I was test riding it for me, I just brought you guys along for the ride 😉 The Guerrilla is quite high revving, you need to be in the right gear for the circumstances if that makes sense. Basically, it won’t like 30mph in 6th gear, nor 5th for that matter, it will bog down, meaning you would have to drop down a gear or two for the bike to be comfortable. I made reference to early 80’s bikes, as you had to ride them like that too, you have to work the gears. It’s not a bike to just leave in 5th or 6th and bimble along at low revs, so maybe not the bike for you. This is just my opinion, you really need to take one out, to see what you think. Oh dear Ian, it is definitely small in stature (at least to me, but no-one else has mentioned it), but you can get a taller, flat seat (which looks really good actually), though I don’t know how it would affect the whole riding triangle thing. Still worthy of a test ride though 😉
