Hi everyone! Lots of comments about the saw not cutting right and that it needs sharpened. I appreciate all of the thoughts and tips. Please know that the saw is sharp in this video (sharpened right before cutting) and that rakers are at proper depth (using a raker gauge and file). I believe the problem was that my sprocket was worn out. I had a backup but it was the wrong size so I kept cutting. Purchased a new one yesterday and hope to show on an upcoming video that it is good to go! Thanks and I appreciate the woodcutting community very much here on UA-cam!
Thank you for watching Pedro! Check out my explanation of what was going on with the saw at the very top of the comments. Hope you’ll check out some more videos!
Mike - here is a link. I was shocked how much these are now!! They’re going for $100 on eBay and nearly that on Amazon. This is the cheapest I could find on a quick search. www.husqvarna.com/au/fuel-cans-and-filling-equipment/combi-can-5-2-5l/
@@PoplarRidge now that you’re up to 700 followers, (congrats!) it’s time to get set up with a marketing link so that you get a small benefit when you help your viewers 🙂
Yes, I’ll have to look into an affiliate link. Last I checked on Amazon I needed to have more followers but I don’t remember how many I needed. Thanks for the good idea!
Thank you sir! I enjoyed your channel. I have the same problem with comments sometimes. Check your “held for review” comments. Sometimes they show up there and you have to approve the comment.
@@PoplarRidge thanks for watching didn’t know if you did or not… hey idk what your saw is like but I noticed you having to work it around to get it to cut… it could be a dull chain? Depth gauges need filed? Bar rails may need dressed (or filed)? Or a combo of all… buckin billy ray has a ton of videos up to help with a more pleasant cutting experience… you want your saw to pull and work for you do you speak… not trying to tell one man what or how to but trying to be helpful
@@PoplarRidge trying flipping your bar to get even wear on it and if you don’t have a bar rail file they are about 15$ on Amazon highly recommend them to keep bars in tip top shape…
Always nice to get the jump on the future. I jumped on an ad I saw for fresh cut/green wood. Guy had a whole list of species to pick from. It was bucked and split to order, so he had all sorts of flexibility in that department. Glad I did! That face cord turned out to be 2+ facecords! All good hardwoods: Cherry, pignut Hickory, and Sugar maple. 2 fc's in the bank, drying for next fall.
A little bit of luck and a lot of hard work!! I made Facebook posts, I called tree companies, logging companies, I searched and searched and searched on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace until finally a guy I talked with before reached out to me when he had some down time to bring me a load.
Mark first of all, thanks for watching! Fine saw dust would indicate that the rakers are not filed properly and they are. I use a raker gauge and file them regularly. I think the video is just not showing the true detail. They come off as shavings or large chips. Some of the hardest wood around me will from time to time look more like dust but rarely.
Just found your channel, I have a hardy stove also love it only used 180 gallons of propane in 8 years heats everything love your contacts subscribe with the 🔔
Nice channel my friend. I agree with Mountain Life, you want that saw to pull and dig. Those 260 Pros are a nice little work horse of a saw. I have one for my smaller stuff. Open that oiler up especially with those hard woods, service those rakers once in a while and open that exhaust just a bit. That exhaust has a small 5/8" round hole or so, that's it. I almost doubled mine with a 1/2'' rasp so now it looks oval... and if you feel comfortable, ever so slightly tweak that carb and it will sing and flip chips like nobody's business. No better experience than hands on! Keep on cut'n.
Thanks for the tips Gitphar! My sprocket was pretty well worn out. Got a new one today and that should help. I check my rakers each time I sharpen so they are at the right depth. My brother-in-law did the exhaust mod on his also.

Looks like a great load of logs. I've been calling around for weeks trying to secure a load like that and can't seem to track one down! Good vid.
Thanks Flat Creek. It took me several months to lock this one down. Keep trying. You’ll find something eventually!
Great job
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!!
No problem I love watching your channel
Nice...
Thanks for watching!
Look good hard work you would benefit from a sharper chain ,keep it up

So you mentioned you really like the gas can. Can you provide a link? Thanks for the video - learned a lot watching your videos.

Thanks! Pretty sure it is just the sprocket. Bought a new one today.

Thanks! I usually flip my bar every time I sharpen. I’ll have to look into the bar file.
Dont seem like to bad of a deal. I still have plenty around here to cut but who knows. Thats way cheaper than propane!
Yes I agree!! I think this was money better spent than on propane.
Looks to me you need to sharpen the chain some. Nice video, thanks.
Thanks! I’m pretty sure it is just that my sprocket is worn out. I got a new one to put on.
Looks like some good food for the hardy👌
Thanks Tony! Good to see you commenting here. Thanks for watching!
dude ya need too sharpen that saw.
Hi Ralph. I appreciate the concern, but it is sharp. Sprocket is warn out. Just got a new one yesterday.

Awesome! I love it when a plan works out!
How'd you source a log truck load? I've been trying to find a load near me (western PA) so not far from you or did you get lucky?

Sawdust way to fine

Now that's bringing the woods to the house ! That should last a long time for you. I like that gas can . Keep up the good work .
Thanks for watching D!
What type of wood is it?
Hi John! It’s just a mix of whatever he had cut. I think there’s some oak, hickory, maple, etc.
Nice load of logs ! 🪵🪵🪵🪓🔥👍👏
Thanks Rick!
