My Amsoil guy advised me against using this exact product in the Trans of my GR86 because he said it wouldn’t confirm to allowable specs.. did you consult a dealer before purchase?
I have an account with amsoil and originally wanted to use the other pouch I showed in the video for my trans and diff just to save money but after contacting them they said that it’s not a GL-4&5 blend like Motul that they would advise just to use it on my diff and to use this one on my trans since it meets oem standards being 75w and GL-4. I also asked the dealer I got my crush washers from and they said the same thing and to go based off my owners manual which I did.
Tried looking for the link but looks like the seller doesn’t have the product anymore but here’s the description of the drain bolt. I purchased it from eBay. Dimple Magnetic Drain Plug - M18X1.5X12
I’ve seen people change it at 5-6k miles but thought that was over kill I just changed it around 11-12k miles but you should go based off your owners manual I did it to have better oil and to make video.
Lol so you’re saying my owners manual says the wrong information 😂😂. How can you say redline is the best when you haven’t tried other brands ? I’ve tried their Mt-lv and didn’t like it had it on my 17 brz
@@ZeroPlanet_ I am looking at the owners manual right now Fluid for transmission says. "Use either if the following MT gear oil LV75w or.... Other GL4 SAE 75W fluid" What you have there is not an SAE 75w fluid. You have a 75w90 fluid. Meaning it starts off as a 75 and thickens up to a 90w when it gets hot. Part of the added performance of the 22+ cars is the use of low resistance fluids. What you added is "compatible" but is absolutely the wrong spec. You will be creating more drag and losing MPG. Unless you are doing some hardcore racing and really need some extra thick fluid you swapped to the wrong oil. I say redline is said to be the best for us because they are one of few companies that actually make a fluid that meets the OEM spec for the car. The weights are not the same from the 17+ either. So if you used the MT-LV, you used the wrong fluid in that one too...!!
@@boost331 damn you are right I read it wrong 😂 lol thought 75w and 75w-90 was the same. ohh well it’s still compatible which all that matters so no harm to the trans. So far I’ve put 150 miles and my fuel economy hasn’t changed, as for drag shifts feel smoother and driving the car feels a lot better now but if the cost is loosing a bit of mpg I think I’m ok since the next mods are going to be uel headers and tune which will probably make it worse 😅. If amsoil decides to make a different version I’ll probably just end up switching to that later on.
@@jl5731 I haven’t had any issues and I drive the car every day. We have been having some pretty cold days here in the bay but probably nothing compared to where it snows. I let the car warm up for 2-3 minutes then start driving it and it shifts okay until the car is up to temp is when the shifts feel better
This really helped dude. Thank you greatly
You're welcome 🙌. Check out some of the other videos I have of working on the car.
Appreciate the breakdown. I hope you get to 100,000 and beyond.
Good job on this video. going to do that soon.
Thank you, hope that it helps you out !

Do you have a link for the drain plug bolt?

Hello from Santa Clara, what was the mileage when you did it?
Hey neighbor 👋, if I remember correctly it was around 10-15k miles
Thanks for your sharing.
How many miles have you driven before you need to change the gear oil ?
I’ve seen people change it at 5-6k miles but thought that was over kill I just changed it around 11-12k miles but you should go based off your owners manual I did it to have better oil and to make video.

Thanks and keep going
I will continue to follow your videos
@@itaybutavia1204 thank you 🙏🏻 will be having a giveaway at 2k subscribers!
Is the washer for the fill and drain the same part number?
Yup same part number
Can I use those same fluids on my 2013 86?
Yes as long as it’s a manual transmission
turn off fake engine noise
Definitely the wrong spec oil. That is heavier weight than what the new car calls for. Redline makes the best stuff for us its their MT-LV.

@@ZeroPlanet_ Did the AMSoil get better over time with the cold temps? How cold do you get? How long does it take to warm up?
