Great analysis. Some people are so desperate for confirmation bias that they will verbally or even physically attack those who don't give them the response they are looking for.
Been watching your full ''reactor serie'' and I love it. When I responded to your survay I realy didn't have any idear what would come out of it, I'm facinated by all the work you have done about it. I've always struggled with the "How DARE you not like something that I like" mindset. Which is why you will rarely see a reactor post a video for a song they didn't care for. They know they will be attacked. I've seen them attacked for keeping their eyes closed too long during the video! There is a band that I adore and love who has a rather large army of fans. There is one song of their whole catalog that I don't like, and I mentioned it in a comment. I was immediately attacked and labeled a hater. Reactors love to say "leave your thoughts in the comments below" but they had better be positive thoughts. It really does make me wonder about the mental health of these people.
I just subscribed based solely on this host having the same name as my long departed grandmother!
Fingers crossed that I'll see something more than most current channels are providing!!

Just an hour ago - like many times before - i was thinking, how reaction videos for me took the place of this great experience i used to have, making mix tapes for friends or when they came over, showing (*g) them my new found sounds. That was one of the best parts of my youth and early adulthood. Sharing exitement. Passion. The friends are gone now, new sounds can be heard in abbundance on many platforms. So that whole THING is gone. Closest thing to it, are reaction videos. I take great pleasure in watching people hear stuff for the first time. A little bit like back then, when life was so much more "personal". My daughter is 15 now and heavily getting into music. She loves the classic stuff on Vinyl. Bowie, Queen, Purple... I am a very happy man! (PS for context: i am 57)
I watch Music Videos (usually live versions) that remind me of my younger years and my then reactions. Dating back to the 1960s. I feel that I really want the 'reviewer' to see what I see. A bit like the clothes you wear that are different to the crowd. When people give positive reaction then you will feel good with your own taste and feeling on the matter. Thats all. 🇦🇺

This is the first vid I've encountered covering this topic and before I watch it, allow me to say THANK YOU!!
I'm 51 years old and have not only been a movie buff for 4+ decades but I was also blessed to have experienced the birth of MTV.
Along with (unfortunately) it's demise!
I won't bother researching the specifics but I truly believe I witnessed an early variant/foreshadow of the Reaction genre by chance during a trailer for one of the Final Destination films when a night vision (greenlit) camera placed in a theater and facing the audience, showed viewers the jump-scare Reactions of the crowd during the film.
Nothing more was shown in that ad.
Fairly certain it preceded the current Social Media construct we are familiar with today.

I love music. I have all my life. Sometimes when I could find somebody that appreciated music like I do, honestly, I have found my people and I am loving the connection. You are spot on, young lady! When you are in your 60’s, you are thankful to still have a wife much less friends with the same interests as you as a man.

It is a sence of community that draws me. And the soul of the person doing the reviews. Whether we think alike or whether they have a God size hole in thier heart. Also whether they are still dealing with trauma from their past from an alcoholic parent or abusive parent or whether they have suffered sexual abuse from a relative as a child or young adult. There are quite a few out there.
Tbh honest (and I havent even watched the video yet) I watch these reaction videos out of loneliness. I have a family and a lover, but no one listens to the kind of music around me that feeds my soul. Even friends/community doesnt. So I always feel a part of myself is cut off or just alone in how special some of this music makes me feel. I watch channels like yours because (and please domt take this weirldy) i wish some of you were my friends that we could connect on stuff like this
I understand the explanation of your assessment of reaction feelings. And it does not really seem to hit my own feelings ? I never watched a reaction video until I seen Hi Ren !! Still have not felt a reaction I have from any other artist since, really can not explain why.? At this point in my life I find myself alone and seem to have no desire to bring someone else in my heart just to eat what little I have left ! It seems every step I took for some kind of security. Has just been the opposite of that. I am a good man and never used anybody for my own advancement in any way. I was a single farther of 2 girls that I have done all I could for and are wonderful adults now. With kids and family's of their own. Love is abundant and they are good people and kind, But I will and refuse to ever ever be a burden to them !! But I am very much alone ! Worked hard my entire life and body is pretty much wore out !
I seem to get very emotional over Rens videos and reactions. I think what I see is his passion his persistence and his desire to be alive and have people hear his messages of hope and Love !! A little nasty at times but it's ok He has to be able to explore the kid he missed. I have no incline to end my life of harm myself in any way. But I also would not pursue any means to prolong it. Does that make me bad ? or confused ? Needless to say the ones I have had relationships with have left wreckage in their wake. And that wreckage is me ! I loved all your reactions and the interview you had with Ren. Not really sure why I shared this with you solitude makes you do strange things sometimes.. Everyone I have done kind things for have used me for all they could get, And has left me broken. Reactions seem to be a soothing pain killer !!

I'm almost afraid to watch this vid, having myself not only lived the pre Internet years but also having thoroughly analyzed what Reaction vids have accomplished and unfortunately what negative effects they have and CAN have on viewers.
It's truly multilayered manipulation in numerous ways considering the mass influence I've witnessed on not only those seeking a nostalgic experience but also those younger viewers who simply do not understand what they are being fed nor how their minds and cognitive functions are being affected

Thank you for your thoughts. I think you could do a lot with Chinchilla's new 1:5. I would love to see your reaction.
Examples of negative influence:
1) "Amazing" is repeated so often by channel hosts that I ask myself how long it will be before we all communicate with:
"I am Groot!".
Basically our collective knowledge and use of vocabulary is being whittled down to a frighteningly limited proportion!
2) The thumbnail imagery of what I consider Home Alone faces (think McCauley Culkin).
3) I've also taken note of numerous hosts engaged in foretell commentary during their viewing while insisting they've not seen the films/videos, which has in many cases far surpassed any reasonable instances of coincidence.
So, how many channels reap success while remaining totally fraudulent?!

Oh, regarding the vocab manipulation, I'm myself not particularly religious but have grown very weary of hearing ON MY GOD, JESUS CHRIST and HOLY SH*T over and over as-if either the hosts know no other way to express themselves or there is a concentrated and insidious effort to demean the sanctity of those phrases.
Basically cheapening them similar to what the porn industry has already done.

Why can't we just watch a reaction video without having to break it down into a zillion reasons why we've watched it. Please just react to videos without all this never ending nonsense.
My channel is about music and psychology so naturally I like to analyze and explore the why :) I understand that’s not for everyone. Plenty of channels that just watch and react emotionally and then keep it moving :)
Then don’t watch it.

You do realize she's not your personal entertainer and that this is her personal channel? If you don't like something simply go to another channel that you like, and don't be a jerk about, after all this is UA-cam not a TV broadcast.
